thats like saying mine tht bird would have run if borel rode him im sorry but you never know if it was nice someone else could have still one but i agree i wish he would have won
Funny Cide was a game and gusty horse who was no fluke, he won two of the greatest races in america in spectacular style. Why must people pick apart everything.....
Funny Cide was absolutely all heart. Because during his 3yr.old season in 2003, he had to deal with the beast that was Empire Maker from the beginning. Empire Maker had beaten Funny Cide at Aqueduct in the Wood Memorial. Only to have Funny Cide come back and turn the tables on him in the Kentucky Derby. Funny Cide then went on and defeated Midday Road in the Preakness. Only to have his old nemesis, Empire Maker, deny him winning the Triple Crown in the Belmont Stakes. They were 2 class horses!!

I wouldn't call Funny Cide a fluke as much as I would just say he pinnacled in the Derby and Preakness and then a year later showed up again in the Jockey Club Gold Cup. I loved this horse so much but he just wasn't a consistent winner.

I just found something really interesting you guys. Most of the horses that have won the Triple Crown races over the last couple of years, are all descended from the stallion Mr. Prospector. Funny Cide was a descendant of Mr. Prospector and so was Empire Maker. It was the same case with Smarty Jones when he got beaten by Birdstone in the Belmont in 2004. Those two were also descended from Mr. Prospector. I'll post a link in my next comment.
Yeah, I bet Funny Cide felt he became "a better horse" after his jewels were wacked off. I say their gelded because the trainer's are too damn lazy to take the time to work with the horses. It's all about producing results sooner than later. Too much money wrapped up in the sport now. The horse's wellbeing comes second, the payoff always comes first.
CHAMPIONS..!! EL CHILENO 🇨🇱 José Santos..!!! El más GRANDE..!!!
This was Tom Durkin's best Kentucky Derby race call.
I h a d the 4 horse..
RIP Dave . 4 years . Miss you my good friend . Way to go Funny Cide !!
Atswhatimtalkingabout was the best 3 year old that year, but never got a chance to show it
The best call I have ever heard. Crowd noise was great.
They gelded him because Belmont Park needed more stable ponies ?
Saw Funny Cide in November and he still looks like he could get out there today and run with 'em! Class act.
thats like saying mine tht bird would have run if borel rode him im sorry but you never know if it was nice someone else could have still one but i agree i wish he would have won
Gosh people, stop the chain-mail. It's stupid, and an insult to these great racers.

Funny Cide would've won that elusive Triple Crown had it not rained at Belmont that day......He was and is a Great Horse.
