Very detailed, great shots of Hakone. Choice of background music is really great too, it just really helped to set the bright mood I get whenever I look at videos of Japan
I just want to let you know that this guide has been really helpful. Thank you for teaching us how to commute Hakone, I watched a bunch of videos but still confuse how to go to Hakone. Thank you!
If I want to upgrade ticket for the boat, with Hakone Free pass to the first class, where must I upgrade it? In the boat, or in the ticket counter? Thank you~ your video realllyyyy helpful 🙂
Hi, it's correct that in order to use that Hakone Free Pass + Romancecar combo, you cannot book the Romancecar in advance in order to get a good seat, correct? You must do it in the morning at Shinjuku Station? I'm a little confused as to how it works. I would love to pre-book the Romancecar seat on their website. Thank you, great video!
This is a huge help for our next travel this coming winter! I'm making an itinerary as im writing this. Have you not tried the Black Eggs when you went to Owakudani?
You don't have to take Romance car to go to Hakone. You can just take a rapid express train and go to Odawara station. And then get Hakone Tozan train or bus from Odawara to Hakone.
Thank you for the great video. We are traveling with our grandma during May 1st - May 10th. Since it is a golden week period, we dont know which day would be least crowded? We are thinking May 2nd or May 3rd. Do you have any suggestion?
Hi there! Thanks for the great guide! Decided to visit Hakone after your video. I have a question, if i have already gotten the romancecar tickets as well as the hakone free pass, do i still need to purchase the standard tickets to hakone to ride the romance car?
*Update Apparently if you got the Hakone free pass with the odakyu line free pass, you can use the QR code to get a free entry. Do approach the station staff and they'll guide you accordingly.
How are we gonna use the hakone free pass for a bus? just let the driver see our pass? or we have to insert it at the machine on the bus? just like the train? I've been to Japan before but never taken a bus
Thanks for the video and guidance. Very informative … Can you name the normal odakyu lines which is included in Hakone free pass? Should we reserve the Hakone free pass and romance car upfront ? We will be there during last week of Mar, but haven’t decided which day to do Hakone day trip.. considering peak season of cherry blossom and first of its kind post vivid for foreign tourists, should we book in advance? Or make it flexible and book on the same day we plan to travel b
@@kayelanmail Sorry I just noticed your comment. You can book it in the same day. But for romance car, maybe you need advance booking if it's a holiday in Japan. But of course if you can't book Romance car, you can use odakyu normal train to odawara and take the Hakone local train from Odawara station
hI there, I find the ticket purchasing a bit confusing. I purchased this from E Romancecar. It says on the confirmation that I need a seperate ticket to board the train. I thought I had purchased this (see below) Do i need an extra ticket also? Thanks Train name : Hakone 61 (GSE) Time : 15:00 Shinjuku -> 16:25 Hakone-Yumoto Number of travelers : Adults: 2 tickets/Children: 0 tickets Seat type : Front observation deck seat Carriage no./seat no. : 01-3A, 3B Amount : 2,300 yen
Sorry for late response. E Romance car ticket is valid for the train ride. But you need to pay the standard train fee for the normal train ride Example Train fee from Shinjuku to Hakone 500¥ Romance car ticket prices 800¥ Total price for tickets is 1300¥
Hiiii I am still a little confused. Do I need to buy the Hakone free pass AND 2 Limited Express Romance Car tickets (to go there and back in one day) or can I just buy the Hakone free pass?
I like how you specifically mentioned station names and directions of where to go once you arrived or left a place.
Thanks for your comment 😊

I guess from the ticket counter. But I am not sure about that. Sorry for the late reply

You can book it online. We also did the same. We didn’t get the combo.
May I ask what camera phone you are using to take your videos? the video came out beautiful,
Thanks for the comment. I'm using iPhone 13 pro as my video camera
Great info

Glad it helped. I couldn't try black eggs in this trip. But I went there again and tried it. 😍
@@gaijintraveler may i ask if it's alright not to use the romance car from shinjuku? As I will be coming from nagano station

In the golden week, It'll be crowded every day. But since May 2nd and 3rd are weekdays, maybe it's a good time. Good luck with your trip. Have fun 😊
@@gaijintraveler thank you for the reply senpai. Btw do u know a good spot where we can take a decent picture in front of Fuji Mt in Hakone?
Hi, great video! I’m staying at Hakone for 3 days next year, using the Hakone Pass 2 days, can i use the local bus freely with the pass ticket?
Yes you can but only Hakone Tozan buses
Hi there! Thanks for the great guide! Decided to visit Hakone after your video. I have a question, if i have already gotten the romancecar tickets as well as the hakone free pass, do i still need to purchase the standard tickets to hakone to ride the romance car?
Yes you have to. Romance car ticket is not included on this pass
Thank you! I'm about an hour away from boarding the romance car. Your quick response really helped!
*Update
Apparently if you got the Hakone free pass with the odakyu line free pass, you can use the QR code to get a free entry. Do approach the station staff and they'll guide you accordingly.
Is the hakone free pass like a card? also can you use it at all buses in Hakone ?
You can use Hakone pass for Hakone Tozan buses only
question: how did you get a romancecar seat by just buying the freepass? i thought you need to pay for the limited express surcharge?
We need to get separate tickets for Romance car. Only usual train cost will cover from free pass. ❤️
Wow.. which season is great to visit?
Every season is good for Hakone. I went there in the end of summer. Many people say most beautiful time is the autumn 🍁
Are there public restrooms around Hakone ?
When you buy the Hakone free pass with round trip, does that include the romance car or is the romance car an extra charge.
You need to pay extra fee for Romance car ticket 😊
@@gaijintraveler hi thank you for your video! 🥰 so if I have the hakone free pass (local only) I need to pay additional ¥2470 for the romancecar?
Any bus from Hakone-Yumoto gets to Moto-Hakone?
Yes. You can get it from Hakone bus station next to the railway station
Thank you for this detailed video! May I just ask- what time did you start and end this Hakone day trip?
Thanks for the comment. We started the trip at 7.30am and finished at about 7pm. We started and ended our trip from Ebina station.
With hakone free pass , you still need to paid for the Romance car ride from Shinjuku station as additional fares ?? is that right ?
IF WE ONLY WANT TO VISIT THE HEIWA NO TORII IS IT POSSIBLE TO GO THERE FROM DIRECTLY FROM LAKE ASHI?
very helpful! Do you think the hakone free pass is worth it, if you only stay for one day and don't want to use the pirate ship?
I think so!
How are we gonna use the hakone free pass for a bus? just let the driver see our pass? or we have to insert it at the machine on the bus? just like the train? I've been to Japan before but never taken a bus
I m confused.. you took the ropeway after shrine? Without taking the cruise?
Yes
Hi, is it possible to reserv the seats for the romance car ? is it included with the pass or do I have to add money
Romance car ticket is not included in this package. However, you can use normal Odakyu trains for free
