I'm so happy I found your video. We do exactly have the same mindset on adventure vs cost vs experience. And of course the experience of driving in Japan. Me with my wife and daughter will be visiting Tokyo very soon when this pandemic is over. I've been thinking of visiting Mt. Fuji by car and was a bit worried about having to drive in the opposite seat (I'm from the Philippines) but I'm now good, so great to find your video. Thank you very much!
Great! You and your family will have a blast, if you drive on the local street and avoid freeway will be more fun and more scenic as well, also cheaper without the tolls
The view of Mt. Fuji in Tanuki park in Fujinomiya is also good and there's a bench where you can seat, relax, and enjoy Mt. Fuji without anything obstructing it.
I drove this route in 1970 when I was there for British week with the Royal Marines. Amazing memories! Plus the Ginza strip and the Bullet train! AND everything was so expensive! But worth it..
Question - How do I book this online in advance? I am planning to book for a few days. It seems to charge me for 24 hours (more expensive rate) rather than the additional 1 day rate. There is a 1900Y difference but by default, the website is charging me more if I want to make a reservation on the Nippon website. Can anyone help?
Fuji Walking Park, 1770-12 Araya, Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi 403-0005, Japan. But I highly recommand "Nagaike Waterside Park Parking Lot" for a lake side view of Mt Fuji.
Hello, im planning to rent a car from Tokyo to Fujikawaguchiko later. I'm curious about the car rental agent in Japan. i see some official "Nissan or Toyota rent a car". also i see some like you share in this video "Nippon rent a car". i wonder about the insurance coverage between Nissan/toyota vs Nippon rent a car.
What time of the year and time of the day did you drive? And was it a weekday or weekend? I am planning my second Japan trip and was thinking about renting a car. But concidering the cost I think I need to rethink a bit.
@@bebe0928 Thank you for the info. I think we will go in February because it is a bit outside the main tourist season of Japan. We we're there in January this year and there is so much more to explore so we had to go again.
Its a great idea too to try to go back on a different way.even if im not on a budget constraint,im going on a different way back. Would love to see different scenery. Take the chance.😊
I would like to do a driving adventure . Can you share what number and where to go to see Mt. Fuji so I could put it on my navigator ? I’ll be driving from Saitama . Haven’t tried to drive to mt. Fuji. Thanks for your video and I watched it from start to finish ! Btw. How many hours was the drive to Fuji?
Depends on where you are from, but if you’re from the US you can pay 20 dollars or so for an International drivers license, which can be used for most rentals. Most of the major rental companies have English speaking staff!
I saw another video, also saying to put in a phone number. But I thought you had to put in your own phone number. So what you are saying is that you put in the phone number of the place you want to go, and the GPS will find directions to that place? What if you don't know the phone number? Can you still put in an address?
Thank you for a great video on. I’ve not been to Japan in many years but I was never brave enough to rent a car in all my previous trips. I did not trust my muscle memory not to kick in. It was also prior to GPS, Google maps. For us in For us in California, freeway is a FREEway. Locally, we are starting to have toll express lanes for faster travel. I drove from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh on a toll highway. It was also quite expensive but they give you a ticket when you enter and you are charged by the distance when you exit. Of course clumsy me lost the ticket on our return trip. Thank goodness it was not much more than our exit price would have been.

How was it? Tell me.
Thanks for the video! Really did a great job showing the unfiltered part of renting a car and the tolls you go by!
I love driving in Japan. The local drivers are courteous and patient. No pressures driving there
“I’ve been keeping my windshield clean most of the way” got me lol. I’ll probably have the same muscle memory problem if I decide to drive there
Going to Japan next month, glad to find your video.
Thanks very much. This is very helpful as there are 6 n our family and we are tossing up between driving or going by train/bus.
The view of Mt. Fuji in Tanuki park in Fujinomiya is also good and there's a bench where you can seat, relax, and enjoy Mt. Fuji without anything obstructing it.
Glad I found your video ... Plan to drive to the lake with my sis... Thanks for all the info

Why didn’t you get the ETC card option
Great video summary!
Thanks bro!
I heard multiple stories about jam in Tokyo like how Tokyo's traffic is really bad. Based on what I see, it seems pretty fine to me. Your thoughts?
do we need to pay for car park at mt fuji area? and can toll fees be eliminated if we dont use expressway?
Was any name of stopover where you could walk on those pebbles facing mount Fuji?
BEST VIDEO EVER!
Thanks for the video, I’m planning to visit Japan in November 27 2022

Hi, just wanted to ask if all car rentals in Japan are all in the opposite side? I mean the steering wheel is on the right side?
Yes, all of them
hi, what is the name of the park that you parked your car to see the mountain?
Fuji Walking Park, 1770-12 Araya, Fujiyoshida, Yamanashi 403-0005, Japan. But I highly recommand "Nagaike Waterside Park Parking Lot" for a lake side view of Mt Fuji.
