Captain Jack Sparrow should of been in the top 10. Any Actor can be a great character in a movie. But only a great Actor can be a great character in all the following sequels.
Harry Potter isn't one of the best characters he's basically flawless and the story just has so many plot holes. Id put boromir instead of harry potter. Way more understandable character from a better saga
My favourite characters are: Wolverine, Harry Potter, Jack Sparrow, Forrest Gump, John McClane, Indiana Jones and Gandalf. My favourite evil characters are: Hans Landa, Darth Vader, Hannibal Lecter and the joker. Honorable mention: Maximus from Gladiator.
I'm very surprised Superman isn't on here. I could see batman as well, but superman was so iconic when the movie came out in the 70s, he's at least gotta be on this list
As longtime cinephiles, we all love these movie characters, especially Darth Vader (formerly known Anakin Skywalker); James Bond; Beatrix Kiddo; Joker (played by Heath Ledger); John Wick; and Batman.

He's got competition. When you consider Robert De Niro as Travis Bickle, Emily Watson as Bess Mcneil, Renee Falconetti as Joan of Arc and anything Toshiro Mifune did, it's no certainty.
Although I see some are upset that the more modern characters are not higher, I love how the entirety of cinema is taken into consideration and the impact that these characters had at the time and continue to have. Bravo Mojo.
I was like, I swear to god, if Gandalf isn't on the list I'm gonna be so pissed. Glad to see he was. I love Gandalf. I also love Kill Bill, and was surprised so Beatrix on the cover photo. That implicitly gave me confidence in the list.

I was surprised not to see more women on this list. Dorothy, Scarlet, Mary Poppins, Kiddo, and Ripley? No others? What about characters played by Bette Davis or other greats. Or just about any role Meryl Streep has played. Obviously compiled by a man!
Fred C. Dobbs of The Treasure of Sierra Madre. Humphrey Bogart's portrayal of the paranoid Dobbs was a master class in acting. It was completely unlike any other character Bogart played. He was perfect.
Andy Dufresne from Shawshank, Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood, Detective Summerset from Seven, Balian from Kingdom of Heaven, Tuco from Good, Bad and Ugly, Derek from American History X, Alonzo from Training Day, Narrator Jack/Tyler from Fight Club, Neo from The Matrix, Patrick Bateman from American Psycho, Annie from Hereditary, Father Karras from The Exorcist, Bulschu from Kontroll, Lilja from Lilya 4-Ever, Randy The Ram from The Wrestler, Trevor from The Machinist, Killer Joe from Killer Joe, Gollum from Lord of the Rings, Bronson From Bronson
Erm... there have (so far) been SEVEN actors who played James Bond on the big screen (not including the TV movies or series)... Sean Connery, David Niven (in the original Casino Royale - Niven was actually Ian Fleming's preferred choice over Connery to play 007), George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig... ... and the eighth to be... ????? 😁
He may not be represented in popular culture right now but I think Colombo deserved to be on this list. Maybe a top 100 if you got time? And if you do a Top 100, Nick Fury should get a rank like Annie, Superman and Robin Williams.
Im shocked Caesar from planet of the apes isn't on this list. His development and role in the trilogy is amazing and truly great. He should definitely be one of the top 10 greatest movie characters of all time.
Bruce and Bradon Lee, Jason Robards, Danny Kane. Rutger Hauer, Micheal Keaton, Charleston Heston, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Buster Crabbe. I have seen over 70, 000 movies from all eras.. But this a base of only a few I can name at 3AM.
The snubbed list: BATMAN (Various) JOHN WICK (John Wick franchise) McLOVIN' (Superbad) OSKAR SCHINDLER (Schindler's List) SPIDERMAN (Various) ETHAN HUNT (Mission Impossible franchise) DEADPOOL (Deadpool franchise) NEO (The Matrix franchise) DJANGO (Django Unchained) IP MAN (Ip Man franchise) JORDAN BELFORT (The Wolf of Wall Street) JACK TORRANCE (The Shining) KEVIN McCALLISTER (Home Alone) JUROR 8 (12 ANGRY MEN) LEON (Léon: The Professional) MAXIMUS (Gladiator) J.ROBERT OPPENHEIMER (Oppenheimer) THOR (MCU) CAPTAIN AMERICA (MCU) BLACK PANTHER (MCU)
3:02 Daniel Radcliffe ad-libbed that line. Jason Isaacs even said that he was shocked and stunned by that. Intimidated even a little because was so unexpected
This list would have been more fun if it was a list of characters who ONLY appear in film. Harry Potter, the Joker, Wolverine, etc were fantastic characters outside of film.
Paused at 25, Doc Brown better be on this list. Paused at 20, Darth Vader too. Paused at 12, If Mary Poppins and Dorothey both made the list, Willy Wonka better be on here. Well Shiiiiit, one out of three/ They skipped Captain Kirk...
Ya ill tell ya some u missed. Catain America, Spiderman, Jack Reacher, The Equalizer, Jason Statham-Transporter, Paul Walker & Vin Diesel fast and Furious. And for tv mandalorian
These are the most popular characters in cinema. Not a fan of the top 2 franchises but that's just me. I am glad both Forrest Gump and Jules Winfield were on this list. Tom Hanks deserved that Oscar for his career defining performance in Forrest Gump. And Samuel L Jackson he is a bad motherfucker who I just love so much.
I don't like that everything is treated as a franchise. I like Star Wars, DC, Harry Potter, Lord of the rings, Marvel. But I am losing interest, because it is too much. James Bond is a film series rather than a franchise. If you are interested in cinema, you have so much more than just a spy-action-flick. Great actors, outstanding music, iconic settings and stunts embedded in atmospheric movies. Quentin Tarantino is a connoisseur of Bond.
Colonel Hans Landa was a great character and very memorable. He was a bad buy with charisma in the best and worst way. Christoph Waltz delivered. We even named our Rottweiler Landa after him but she was a good girl :) However, am I the only person in the world who hated Scarface????
Most of my favorite characters are from books but some of them aren’t. And actually most of them are book characters that then get turned into movie characters. 1. Gilbert Blythe (Anne of Green Gables) 2. Newt (The Maze Runner). 3. Rudy Steiner (The Book Thief) 4. Liesel Meminger (The Book Thief) 5. Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables) 6. Aragorn (The Lord of the Rings) 7. Sybil Branson (Downton Abbey) 8. Darth Vader (Star Wars) 9. Regina Mills (Once Upon A Time series) 10. Wanda Maximoff (MCU) 11. Captain Jack Sparrow (The Pirates of the Caribbean) 12. The Phantom of the Opera (The Phantom of the Opera) 13. Peter Pan (I love every single version of this character though my favorites are Robbie Kay’s version from Once Upon A Time and Jeremy Sumpter’s version from the 2003 Peter Pan movie) 14. Lucy Pevensie (The Chronicles of Narnia) 15. Galadriel (The Lord of the Rings) 16. Fred and George Weasley (Harry Potter) 17. Alice Cullen (The Twilight Saga) 18. Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter) 19. Captain America (MCU) 20. Christine Daae (The Phantom of the Opera) 21. Christian (Moulin Rouge) 22. Westley (The Princess Bride)
I much prefer the original Wolverine from the animated media. Hugh Jackman is way too charming and attractive to be as intimidating and savage as the character, he comes off as more of a Clint Eastwood wannabe.
Dirty Harry, Mad Max, Rooster Cogburn, Tarzan, Superman, Wyatt Earp, Batman, Count Dracula, Gus Mcrea, Woodrow Call, Martin Brody, Sherlock Holmes, Conan, Billy the Kid, Zorro, Robin Hood...King Kong, Patton... the list is huge...
30. Tony Montana 29. Captain Jack Sparrow 28. Harry Potter 27. Beatrix Kiddo/The Bride 26. Jules Winfield 25. Wolverine 24. Hans Landa 23. The Dude 22. Gandalf 21. Iron Man 20. The Terminator 19. Forrest Gump 18. Scarlett O’Hara 17. The Man with No Name 16. John McClane 15. Freddy Krueger 14. Mary Poppins 13. Travis Bickle 12. Dorothy Gale 11. Ellen Ripley 10. The Tramp 09. Hannibal Lecter 08. The Joker 07. Norman Bates 06. Charles Foster Kane 05. Rocky Balboa 04. Indiana Jones 03. Vito Corleone 02. Darth Vader 01. James Bond
You were a little short on female characters. I might have included Katharine Hepburn as Queen Eleanor in The Lion in Winter, Eliza Minnelli as Sally Bowles in Cabaret, Whoopi Goldberg in The Color Purple, Barbara Stanwick in The Postman Always Rings Twice, Mitzi Gaynor in South Pacific, Barbara Streisand in Funny Girl, Meryl Streep in Sophie’s Choice, Keira Knightly in Pride and Prejudice, or Loretta Young in The Farmer’s Daughter. The female characters are there, but they weren’t part of action hero genres.
Gary Oldman's character in the professional Nicolas Cage's character in Face Off Maximus Gladiator Angelina Jolie's character in Salt Golum in Lord of the rings
I would suggest Cary Grant in His Girl Friday. A sly manipulative workaholic that remains charming. Shirley Temple - A talented actor and singer who was the highest grossing star of her time. If you are going to give it to the Big Lebowski you have to include John Candy in Uncle Buck. That's a guy you want to have a beer with.
Sylvester Stallone whether it's Rocky, Rambo or Expendables, he's my #1 actor in the world but best movies I would have to say that Scarface is one of my top 5 best movies of all time. Who can beat Al Pacino, he was the best actor to play that part. Equally Johnny Depp so talented, in every movie he ever made, just like Al Pacino. Forrest Gump, I can't imagine a better actor than Tom Hanks to play the role. The Dark Night had my best version of the Jocker, sad to have lost Heath Ledger so young. They are all at the top of my list of movies and the actors who played the parts were born to play these characters, how to chose is nearly impossible, Clint Eastwood, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, Robert Downey Jr., Bruce Willis, Robert De Niro, Anthony Hopkins, Jeff Bridges. Some not on the list are Jack Nicholson (The Shining), John Travolta, Brad Pitt in all his movies.

25. Rocky Balboa
26. Daniel LaRusso
27. Rocket Raccoon
28. Adult Groot

So, you seem to really like Disney.
I think Disney is hiring.
Ghostbusters? National Lampoons Vacation movies? Good Will Hunting? Saving Private Ryan? Lethal Weapon? Blues Brothers? Caddyshack? Jason Bourne series? The list of other considerations is long!
Heath Ledgers Performance as the Joker should be #1.
Hands down the GREATEST PERFORMANCE IN CINEMA HISTORY . ❤
He's got competition. When you consider Robert De Niro as Travis Bickle, Emily Watson as Bess Mcneil, Renee Falconetti as Joan of Arc and anything Toshiro Mifune did, it's no certainty.
@@hokutology1718 Ledgers Joker tops All honestly
No, it isn't. A great performance but not one of the very best.
We’re supposed to be talking about characters, not performances.
@@avidfather1864 Who's better?
Although I see some are upset that the more modern characters are not higher, I love how the entirety of cinema is taken into consideration and the impact that these characters had at the time and continue to have. Bravo Mojo.
I was like, I swear to god, if Gandalf isn't on the list I'm gonna be so pissed. Glad to see he was. I love Gandalf.
I also love Kill Bill, and was surprised so Beatrix on the cover photo. That implicitly gave me confidence in the list.
i love that they listed Freddy Krueger.. great to see some horror figures on this list.

Finally, I found someone else who likes RoboCop
Excellent list. So glad Ellen Ripley was acknowledged. Bond, James Bond no surprise.
I was surprised not to see more women on this list. Dorothy, Scarlet, Mary Poppins, Kiddo, and Ripley? No others? What about characters played by Bette Davis or other greats. Or just about any role Meryl Streep has played.
Obviously compiled by a man!

RIP HEATH LEGEDER LEGEND [1979-2008]
Fred C. Dobbs of The Treasure of Sierra Madre. Humphrey Bogart's portrayal of the paranoid Dobbs was a master class in acting. It was completely unlike any other character Bogart played. He was perfect.
Jackie Brown is my personal all time favourite. Like a masterclass in how to write and realise an interesting, unique and believable character!
I can't see inspector Lee and detective James carter 😂 for rush-hour movies
Erm... there have (so far) been SEVEN actors who played James Bond on the big screen (not including the TV movies or series)...
John Wick and Neo
He may not be represented in popular culture right now but I think Colombo deserved to be on this list. Maybe a top 100 if you got time? And if you do a Top 100, Nick Fury should get a rank like Annie, Superman and Robin Williams.
Tyler Durden Superman, Batman, Ethan Hunt, Spiderman,
Haven’t they make this list like billion times already?
Im shocked Caesar from planet of the apes isn't on this list. His development and role in the trilogy is amazing and truly great. He should definitely be one of the top 10 greatest movie characters of all time.
Bruce and Bradon Lee, Jason Robards, Danny Kane. Rutger Hauer, Micheal Keaton, Charleston Heston, Jack Nicholson, Meryl Streep, Buster Crabbe. I have seen over 70, 000 movies from all eras.. But this a base of only a few I can name at 3AM.
Calvin Candy and Django from django unchained deserve to be here
what about Clark Kent, Chuck Norris, Conan the Babarian, Blade, and Alice?
Snape, yoda, Spock, Aragorn, crocodile Dundee.
The snubbed list:
BATMAN (Various)
JOHN WICK (John Wick franchise)
McLOVIN' (Superbad)
OSKAR SCHINDLER (Schindler's List)
SPIDERMAN (Various)

Rick in "Casablanca" gets my vote for Number One!
I agree with James Bond being #1.
Jack sparrow should be higher
Agree
No.
@@rwhitey1980 kiddo cry harder
3:02 Daniel Radcliffe ad-libbed that line. Jason Isaacs even said that he was shocked and stunned by that. Intimidated even a little because was so unexpected
Know them all, love almost them all, but John McClane and Freddy Krueger EEEEEEASILY my most ICONIC 🙌🏼
Do top 100 characters of all time video 😊
Michael Corleone, Atticus Finch, Annie Hall, Jack Dawson, Elle Woods, Axel Foley
Ya ill tell ya some u missed. Catain America, Spiderman, Jack Reacher, The Equalizer, Jason Statham-Transporter, Paul Walker & Vin Diesel fast and Furious. And for tv mandalorian
I am still tripping on the theory that Mary Poppins and It (movie) anti-versions of themselves.
Awesome! Can't wait For it
Interesting list... but how do you leave Dracula (esp Christopher Lee's version) off this list?
Missing Bill the Butcher from Gangs of New York. Great villain with strong and sympathetic principles.
Hi caiti
Tom Cruise & Leonardo DiCaprio are the most popular actors in the world.
@@Mike-h8m hi julia
I don't like that everything is treated as a franchise.
I like Star Wars, DC, Harry Potter, Lord of the rings, Marvel.
But I am losing interest, because it is too much.
James Bond is a film series rather than a franchise.
If you are interested in cinema, you have so much more than just a spy-action-flick.
Great actors, outstanding music, iconic settings and stunts embedded in atmospheric movies.
Quentin Tarantino is a connoisseur of Bond.
One i think is overlooked a lot is John Bender from the breakfast club
Christoph Waltz is such an amazing thespian!
Butch Cassidy AND the Sundance Kid.....as well as Cool Hand Luke and Jeremiah Johnson are all great characters.
Can you do a video of unsold live action animated tv pilots please
Mr. Miyagi from The Karate Kid Films definitely should have been on this.
Colonel Hans Landa was a great character and very memorable. He was a bad buy with charisma in the best and worst way. Christoph Waltz delivered. We even named our Rottweiler Landa after him but she was a good girl :)
However, am I the only person in the world who hated Scarface????
I think Rick Blaine should be on the list...
In the Good, The Bad and The Ugly itself, Tuco is a more memorable character for me.
Most of my favorite characters are from books but some of them aren’t. And actually most of them are book characters that then get turned into movie characters.
1. Gilbert Blythe (Anne of Green Gables)
2. Newt (The Maze Runner).
3. Rudy Steiner (The Book Thief)
4. Liesel Meminger (The Book Thief)
5. Anne Shirley (Anne of Green Gables)
6. Aragorn (The Lord of the Rings)
7. Sybil Branson (Downton Abbey)
8. Darth Vader (Star Wars)
9. Regina Mills (Once Upon A Time series)
10. Wanda Maximoff (MCU)
11. Captain Jack Sparrow (The Pirates of the Caribbean)
12. The Phantom of the Opera (The Phantom of the Opera)
13. Peter Pan (I love every single version of this character though my favorites are Robbie Kay’s version from Once Upon A Time and Jeremy Sumpter’s version from the 2003 Peter Pan movie)
14. Lucy Pevensie (The Chronicles of Narnia)
15. Galadriel (The Lord of the Rings)
16. Fred and George Weasley (Harry Potter)
17. Alice Cullen (The Twilight Saga)
18. Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter)
19. Captain America (MCU)
20. Christine Daae (The Phantom of the Opera)
21. Christian (Moulin Rouge)
22. Westley (The Princess Bride)
My favorites are jack sparrow, tiny stark, forest gump, wolverine, Deadpool, Gandalf, John wick, thanos, Marty mcfly
Captein willard from apocalypse now, john rambo, the genie from alladin, the princesse mononoke, will hunting, tyler durten

06. Charles Foster Kane
05. Rocky Balboa
04. Indiana Jones
03. Vito Corleone
02. Darth Vader
Gary Oldman's character in the professional
Nicolas Cage's character in Face Off
Maximus Gladiator
Angelina Jolie's character in Salt
Golum in Lord of the rings
