This is the kind of advanced comparison I was searching all over youtube for. Not just showing but pointing out details. It's hard to find such content with consistent quality. Top notch channel
The camera comparisons is what brought me to this channel and what keeps me here. Especially because phones are covered here that other channels ignore.
I think smartphone camera technology has reached saturation already. There seems to be no notable game changing capabilities coming out for the past few years. Regular users probably won't notice any difference with any of these flagship smartphones. Only if you're nitpicking....😅
No more huge leaps no. And no longer is Samsung and Vivo the top dog camera phone quality. But It's great to see they are still using the T* coating from Zeiss and OnePlus has come a long way with their cameras finally getting there after being poor for years.
Honestly, the Oneplus fared really well here in stills. But half of this video is about video capture, and the OP12 has some clear stability / framerate / jelly issues to work through right now. If they get that worked out, the image quality in video was great IMO, just extremely unstable. But yeah, stills wise, when he wasn't setting it up to fail by doing 10x zoom shots, I thought the OP12 held up remarkably well throughout all of the main and wide angle cameras. Personally, I would still like to see better, but I don't really take video (as I think is probably pretty similar for many) and I really very rarely take zoom shots. So OP12 camera "works" for me.
Suggestion, maybe add in a 4th camera, a professional camera, for comparison as a control so we know which phone is producing the most true image/video
The one thing most reviewers dont put into consoderation is PRICE in these comparison videos...when you think about the lower price point for what you get with the oneplus its an easy choice..it keeps up in most cases and is better in some cases and is sufficient for mostly anything you need to do for average use /social media etc..plus newest processor, great screen, superior cooling system and not to metion much faster charging and with charger in box unlike galaxy, google or apple..the price to value is superior
OP12 is not on sale yet and will likely be around 900€ to 1000€ here once it comes. I got S23U for 600€, so I agree - you just can't beat that kind of value. ;)
Prices are different all over the world so I would rather hear about the hardware/software and decide myself if it's worth the price in my part of the world.
The 4.3x optical is good and I thought it took slight better photos than the S23 Ultra with less noise. That Samsung 10MP sensor is old and will be gone with the S24U I'm sure.
Talk about a 3 way battle with no clear winner insight... For me the S23 Ultra was the most consistent in almost every scene.. Sure Samsung went a little crazy on over sharpening but still look acceptable.... The Vivo clearly like oversaturation and over exposure, sometimes too bright.... OnePlus 12 gets 2nd behind galaxy S23 Ultra...
Crazy how good the front facing video looks on the Vivo although being 1080p. Definitely a big improvement over the X90 Pro+. And in low light I liked it the most too, so resolution alone doesn't get you good quality automatically. In general very impressive how good Pro model of the X100 is considering that a Pro+ will come and also compared to the X90 Pro. The oversaturation in some photos is something you can't complain bc you can switch to Zeiss natural color quickly or use it as default as I do and you will never get oversaturation. But yes then it will be a bit less saturated occasionally. But it's the best way to do it like that I think. The really should work on the occasional blue or in low light green tint, but I'm sure they will improve that. On my X90 Pro+ they definitely did. Good to see useable 8k video on the X100 Pro now. Will be very interesting to see how it will compete with the upcoming Galaxy S24 and also what Vivo will do with the X100 Pro+, which might blow them all away
That glitter ball picture was absolutely stellar on the Vivo! And the rest of the Vivo pics were also very good! - Long time Samsung fan here looking for alternatives. They haven't progressed much recently., especially the over-sharpening and low light muddiness. Pics taken with my S6/S8 long ago look just as good as S23U in good lighting conditions.
Same here, S23U owner but not happy with camera. Too much post production, looking artificial. X100 Pro has much better final output. The thing is, it's not even available in my country, and even if it was, I'm sure Vivo software support is way shorter than Samsung.
@michalwozniak5588 I'm sure your zoom photos are quite good. I've tried a Huawei P50 Pro recently but I didn't quite like the style of the photos and also too invested in the Samsung ecosystem like Samsung Notes, Pay and the watch of course. I'm still on the Note 10, and besides low light and zoom, I actually prefer the Note's photos to S22 and S23. The Ultra wide 16MP on the Note produces some of the best ultrawide images I've seen. So I guess it will eventually be a Samsung phone again! 😂
Mostly have to agree with your conclusion although i thing the vivo and oneplus produce more pleasing portraits, the samsung oversharpens the subject and makes them look a bit unnatural. But never the less those three are all absolute beasts in the camera department.
I'm really impressed by the Vivo! The chinese price would be a real bargain, considering the today's phone prices... obviously not taking into consideration the import taxes 😅 If I decided to buy one of the three, I would go for the Vivo. So I wonder what Vivo will achieve with their Pro+ version. 1080p for the front facing camera is something so weird to see in 2023, but it's not bad, especially because of the higher megapixels.
For 1080p it did really well. I have a feeling the Oneplus why it says it's 4k is actually upscaled 1440p or 1080p, lacks the detail of the Samsung 4k.
Vivo is the better phone.. better overall hardware, better processing, better colors, and overall better image quality. The main obvious flaw of the Vivo for me is surprisingly the very poor edge detection on portrait photos. That is something that potentially can be fixed as they upgrade the firmware but it's really lacking on that department compared to how much better the other phones perform. Overall the best single camera of these phones is the the 200 megapixel on the Samsung because of its flexibility and unmatched the detail. What I like about the Vivo however as a package is how balanced the hardware is by using 50 megapixel resolution sensors on all the cameras. The fact that the Samsung has a single 200 megapixel camera and the rest are all 12 megapixel it's just an absurd unmatch for such a high end phone. Really? You can take up to high resolution 200 megapixel photos using one camera, and all the others are only 12? This simply makes no sense to me and that's the reason why I feel that though overall the Samsung is really a "better" and more polished phone, in the camera department it's just a ridiculous letdown of hardware differences between all the cameras. Vivo is doing a great job, and they have come along way, I would not be surprised in a few more iterations ahead that they can beat the offerings of Apple and Samsung easily in the photo and video departments. Thanks for the detailed review :)
Hey - Not sure where you got 12 MP from... OP12: Main camera - 50MP Ultra-wide - 48MP Telephoto - 64MP Selfie camera - 32MP Vivo: Main camera -- 50MP Ultra-wide -- 50MP Telephoto -- 50MP Selfie camera -- 32MP
@@lindigj Oppo/OnePlus take photos from their 50MP wide angle camera, downsample them to 12MP and literally then re-upscales them back to 50MP again. Set the resolution to 12MP or shoot in "high-res" mode, all you get is the quality and detail of a 12MP file. Why they do this stupidity no one knows and there is no way around it, JPG, HEIF or RAW, even if you try to use another camera app, it will not work. thanks for the review. VIVO seems like the clear winner for the price it offered. Been on the fence with iqoo 12 and it seems i might choose X100 for the overall performance/camera/total package. Does anyone know if the USB type-C in the X100 is version 2.0 or 3.X?
Would love to see an updated video with the S24 Ultra, and maybe also the Nubia Z60 Ultra, which has some interesting, sharp (real sharp not faked!) results
Great comparison as usual, thank you. The Vivo is quite impressive, I would like to try it but I don't know if it will arrive in Europe...and maybe even less the "+" model if it comes out
Damn the s23 Ultra almost 1 year later still performing amazingly to the newer kids in the block, all i see is no reasons to upgrade, hope they bring the much needed improvement when it comes to gaming like apple did with capcom, the 8 Gen 2 was already amazing top performer
That low light performance on Vivo makes me jealous. 😂 But S23U is still solid, especially with all the pro features. Neither of these two competitors have digital ND to help with lack of aperture controls. Nor can they do precise masking in LR the way you can do with spen. Most users don't care for these kinds of things, but I wish these camera comparisons took pro features into consideration to show what the devices are really capable of. Auto mode is great nowadays, but as enthustiast I usually go manual + RAW if I really want good results.
The trouble is using Pro modes and RAW etc in a comparison gives too much room for unfair advantages. Imagine if I tweaked one better than the other? At least me using auto and out of the box settings it's fair way to test them. And most people don't use Pro mode. There have been polls and it's like 4% of people use Pro mode for all their shots, just just us tech junkies that do :D
@@Techtablets I understand if you deem it too niche, because like I said, most people just snap on auto and don't care as long as the quality is passable. But as an enthustiast, I find these kinds of comparisons unfair because none of the devices are used to their full potential. But your point about unfair advantage makes no sense to me. Are you saying you cannot be trusted to use the same settings for all devices? 🤔 If so, how can we trust you NOW? It's quite easy to take a bunch of photos and pick better shots for one device over another, then just show those to your audience.
Hey mate I'll be going with One Plus 12 because of obvious reason that is the budget, My question is are there any significant difference between portrait shots and main sensor pics compared to one plus 12 and the rest of the flagships? Or the difference is negligible in real life and it'll go unnoticed.
Seems to me its very negligible especially for the price..ive tested the camera on my Oneplus 10t (which got unjustly slammed in reviews) vs my wifes iphone 14 pro max and my sons pixel 7(which both are supposed to be superior) and we did blind tests on social media and most people couldnt tell the difference or in some cases liked the colors or clarity in my pics..so alot of these specs on these phones are overhyped and mostly any recent phones even cheap ones like a moto g stylus $250 for instance are fully capable of giving you good results for regular use and social media pics..were just being bamboozled into spending hundreds more for slight differences in contrast sharpness and color etc that can be fixed in pro mode or editing anyway..
I think the Vivo is surprisingly only about $50 more than the Oneplus 12 right now. Don't know if it has or will get a global release like the Oneplus though.
Remember the price of OnePlus 12 is lower than other 2 phones so I think it's a very good pick if you compare with the price range s23 ultra and vivo are expensive
For all comparisons I use the default out of the box settings on all phones. No tweaks, no camera assistant, no manual/pro mode, no RAW, no tripod and gimbal for your favorite phone :)
Well, actually, the purpose of this comparison is to test these phones in the way normal, non-techy people would use them. Of course, you can get better shots with each one of them by adjusting the camera settings, and trying different camera modes!
I have to disagree with you. I have the S2 three ultra. I have the pixel 8 pro and I have the iPhone 15 Pro Max. I have to say that the phone that I reach for and that surprises me the most every single time is the new oneplus 12. I’ve been steadily using the 15 Pro Max and the pixel 8 Pro since they both came out and arguably the pixel 8 pro has been getting the best spark phone camera And when I have them both right beside me, I reached for the OnePlus because the photos just come out more detailed and just overall better shots. This is a couple updates though to the phone
woah killer video friend. I didn't see you talk about any other preset mode of VIvo like the Zeiss Natural, is it still available? I think using that mode would've made for far more accurate shots in daytime.
Defiantly 8k and night video was better. I found the 4k was also very good but the EIS with the S23U was slightly better I think with 4k and vlog 4k. Really good cameras with the Vivo X100 Pro I can't wait for the X100 Pro+ next year which should be even better!
OnePlus is my favorite phone because my sister has a 1+5T that has been running for five years. It is still running smoothly and can be fully charged in more than 20 minutes.
The Vivo rear cam low light video is top notch. Looks even better than iPhone I think. No jitters, no over exposing, not grains or noise, very sharp and smooth.
Hello mate , can i have a question? While you record 4K60 fps video can u change the cameras at oneplus 12? i know s23 ultra cant do this. and i think vivo x100 pro is can.
Amazing all around review. IMHO Vivo X100 is impressive. S23 is left behind in terms of cameras. OnePlus12 is a VFM choice, but this stands only for the US where the price will be significantly lower than the Samsung's S24 series devices, whereas in Europe the OnePlus12 costs 1200 euros!
Oneplus video always seems to fall behind, exposure with the front camera is off and EIS with the font and rear is not great at all. Sharpness and detail need work. Vivo defiantly better and 8k plus night video I thought was better than the S23U.

S23 seems to win very slightly overall. All of these are great and I would be plenty happy with either phone. I do own an s23 ultra. But this only hypes me more for s24, and futher down the line since I upgrade once in 3-4 years
S23 still the best overall, it even managed to beat the zeiss coating with better controlled flares... The vivo has advatage in low light due to the better/bigger sensor...

Nice to see that the Samsung stills holds up to the latest phones that you can't buy in Germany. So that is just the right comparison for me. 👍
Thanks for watching!
That night selfie video quality is surprisingly very good on the vivo, it even beats the s23 ultra
Great comparison, I am in the market for a new phone to replace my 3 year old Find X3 Pro, but likely will wait for all global versions (and S24) to be available before making a choice. Low light photography is important to me.
Might as well wait for x7 series.
@@yongkysiaw6597 maybe, but chances are they will not be global just like x6. And I'm not too keen on Color OS, wouldn't mind trying something slightly different.
@@fhwolthuis i prefer colorsos actually. It just smoother than oneui. Well just hope that it will be global 🙏
@@yongkysiaw6597 Yea, idk why but i like color os more than any other android ui. It's simple and packs good features. The only drawback is the software update is lesser supported year than one ui.
@@chalkid3390 it's changing this year. Coloros 14 though really need some refinements in the ux though for example lockscreen animation like in hyperos and oneui.
Love your videos!! I wonder how good the x100 Pro Plus will be
Should be a step up over this. We shall see, I will get it once it's released.

Can u switch lenses DURING recording in Vivo & Oneplus?
S23 ultra is still the best all round phone been my best ever i have used .. Hopefully the new S24 ultra will be even better
It's my main phone for that very reason it does everything well. It might not be the best at zoom now and everything but it just works and is consistent. I'm really looking forward to the S24 Ultra which will be similar I'm sure but just tweaked and improved even more.
@@Techtablets Yeah mate it's been a cracking phone .Heard the new 10x zoom is a 50mp on the Samsung S24 ultra ..gonna have zooms 3x 5x 10x optical apparently 🙏🙏
Yes that sounds like a winner again to me. I'll be in Las Vegas and hopefully get to see it. Or buy one on release.
I installed gcam and it's something new for me, so, you have this option too. Vivo can't use gcam because it's with mediatek.
Please answer this question mate....which is the overall best in terms of performance etc...s23U or the x100 pro
Why makes this guy always the review which all of us need?? 🤩 Thank you very much for that my friend, greetings from Italy
😂 well more coming
thanks for the review. VIVO seems like the clear winner for the price it offered. Been on the fence with iqoo 12 and it seems i might choose X100 for the overall performance/camera/total package. Does anyone know if the USB type-C in the X100 is version 2.0 or 3.X?
It's version 3.2
x100 2.0, while x100pro 3.2
ViVO x100 has been released in Malaysia with price RM4599 (USD995) for the pro version and RM3499 (USD755) for the non pro version.

which one should I buy s23 ultra or Vivo x100 pro? performance and camera both are my priority( which has the best telephoto bokhe in zoom lens)
From the price perspective, OnePlus has done impressive work compared to other 2
Would love to see an updated video with the S24 Ultra, and maybe also the Nubia Z60 Ultra, which has some interesting, sharp (real sharp not faked!) results
Is that the international version of the Vivo X100? if so, did you find any way of recording video in LOG format?
Great comparison as usual, thank you. The Vivo is quite impressive, I would like to try it but I don't know if it will arrive in Europe...and maybe even less the "+" model if it comes out
Great video. Does VIVO has bokeh video recording using ff camera (like oneplus)?
Could you please compare the Pixel 8 Pro vs Vivo x100 Pro vs Huawei Mate. Can't really find any comparison between Vivo and Google image processing.
Damn the s23 Ultra almost 1 year later still performing amazingly to the newer kids in the block, all i see is no reasons to upgrade, hope they bring the much needed improvement when it comes to gaming like apple did with capcom, the 8 Gen 2 was already amazing top performer
I think you need to turn off vivid mode on Vivo which come with default setting to get correct white balance.
Thank you. Your video helped me decide between Oneplus 12 and Vivo x100 Pro.
Glad I could help
same which one did i choose
That low light performance on Vivo makes me jealous. 😂 But S23U is still solid, especially with all the pro features. Neither of these two competitors have digital ND to help with lack of aperture controls. Nor can they do precise masking in LR the way you can do with spen.
Most users don't care for these kinds of things, but I wish these camera comparisons took pro features into consideration to show what the devices are really capable of. Auto mode is great nowadays, but as enthustiast I usually go manual + RAW if I really want good results.
I agree. I'd like to see the phones show off at their best by using pro modes. That is what I'll be buying the phone for. 😊
Can you plus do the same with xiaomi 14 pro aswell? So as to know which 8gen3 phone is better with camera
Have the oneplus and vivo improved with updates?
Se sabe cuándo saldrán a la venta en España? Gracias
I think vivo is the best. I mean the price reflects that as well
Hey mate I'll be going with One Plus 12 because of obvious reason that is the budget, My question is are there any significant difference between portrait shots and main sensor pics compared to one plus 12 and the rest of the flagships?
My choice is Vivo. Will be my new phone, time to change from my Huawei p20 pro finally.
Good pick, so far I'm really liking it.
If you could,
Make fireworks (new year) comparison using this flagship
It would be interesting to see which one better for fireworks
Hmm yeah not sure now as there seems to be little interest in this phone. All the Chinese version coverage has killed views on the global release.
Why not using zeiss natural mode on vivo? I have the x90 Pro Plus and its a huge difference
Exactly you got it. We can tweak them more but this is dumbed down for the average joe that just points and shoots!
@@Udayveer_Singh
So in fact this is a review for camera dummies.
review with default settings does not imply its for dummies, lol.
portraite mode what camera is better? huawei p60 pro?
Sir which one is good according to you
I have to disagree with you.
Hi, just a quick one, was it filmed in Denia / Spain?
Solid review. Nice and detailed and no wasted time or information. Good job 👍 subscribed.
Any word on a NA X100? Was set to get a Oneplus 12, but these camera comparisons have been gorgeous on the x100.
No news on that sorry.
woah killer video friend. I didn't see you talk about any other preset mode of VIvo like the Zeiss Natural, is it still available? I think using that mode would've made for far more accurate shots in daytime.
Again looked what main cameras can do with video. Looks like Vivo is also better for video\stabilization?
Defiantly 8k and night video was better. I found the 4k was also very good but the EIS with the S23U was slightly better I think with 4k and vlog 4k. Really good cameras with the Vivo X100 Pro I can't wait for the X100 Pro+ next year which should be even better!
OnePlus is my favorite phone because my sister has a 1+5T that has been running for five years. It is still running smoothly and can be fully charged in more than 20 minutes.
Wow.this phonee is amaaazinggg new rewies i want for vivo
Considering the price. It's a major win for OnePlus here. 👏
True. The cheapest and good enough and of course with SD8 Gen3, so it is really more than enough for ~80-90% people.
Yes
What's the audio bit rate for Vivo X100 Pro?
the video clips of Vivo looked the smoothest, almost flawless without any stabilization artifacts like on the S23 or OP12
Do a camera comparison between Oneplus 12 vs Iqoo 12
Amazing all around review. IMHO Vivo X100 is impressive. S23 is left behind in terms of cameras. OnePlus12 is a VFM choice, but this stands only for the US where the price will be significantly lower than the Samsung's S24 series devices, whereas in Europe the OnePlus12 costs 1200 euros!
I want to buy the One Plus 12 but the camera is really the low point while every other spec is amazing
OnePlus camera really improved over the years but video still need a lot of improvement. For me, i like Vivo video. Looks impressive to me.
I was surprised how good video looked on vivo
@@shkarazad97yeah last year it was terrible
Oneplus video always seems to fall behind, exposure with the front camera is off and EIS with the font and rear is not great at all. Sharpness and detail need work. Vivo defiantly better and 8k plus night video I thought was better than the S23U.

Hello
Now I have S22 Ultra, I want to change thise phone. Which one has best camera and loud speaker: One plus 12 Or S 24 Ultra?
Need for suggestions
Night mode photo in Vivo is the best, since Vivo x80 pro, the control of light is simply unbelievable
wow Vivo is really impressive....its making me consider it for my next phone change.
Can you compare vivo X100 Pro with DJI pocket 3 particularly in low light situation while walking with different scenes with different low light intensities?
OMG the audio on the ONEPLUS is ❤🔥
A good one - thanks))
Maybe, could you bring on the magic5 pro with 1+ 12 in a future video. 🤞🏻
thanks for your very detailed, extensive and comprehensive review. I found it very very interested, you gained another subscriptor. I would like to point out that op12 and vivo are early versions yet compared with samsung one. I mean the devs have yet time to improve their cameras via ota and fix issues.
Thanks Chris for a great video comparison. Have a great Christmas.
Thanks, you too!
S23 seems to win very slightly overall. All of these are great and I would be plenty happy with either phone. I do own an s23 ultra. But this only hypes me more for s24, and futher down the line since I upgrade once in 3-4 years
Who is better s23 ultra or one plus 12
S23 still the best overall, it even managed to beat the zeiss coating with better controlled flares... The vivo has advatage in low light due to the better/bigger sensor...
thanks for this video ..... please add astrophotos and moon shots to the comparison
When will the Vivo release globally? I only see Chinese versions online
I don't know the exact date but it has launched globally. My guess is early next year we can buy it.
Jan 4
It would be interesting to see this comparison includes the Nubia Z50 Ultra which is the camera version of the red magic 9 phone.
Obviously the under display camera will not be high quality but I consider that a reasonable trade-off to have an uninterrupted view of the screen.
ordered the vivo x100 pro 16/512gb. Coming from 14 pro max
Vivo's camera is great, but lack of Band 20 makes it probably unusable in Germany
These are very valuable videos as they help us choose our new camera phones.
Yes, these do help out a lot to see which has the better camera. More coming planned for early next year when I get my S24 Ultra and other phones.

I think that comparing also price, performance, construction and software the Op is probably the best buy option
The cheapest of the 3 yes.
have s23 ultra and vivo x100 pro both, the best two mobile phones in the world for photography. 🎉
I hope they will fix oneplus before its global launch. Sometimes it seems to me that 1+ 11 would be better
They have a bit of time to improve it.
When will it arrive the vivo 100 pro + ?
The 100pro lacks of snap dragon 3
Yes it has the Dimensity 9300 but it's just as fast. The X100 Pro+ is coming March/April.
