Brand New to the Z32 300ZX Market are these beautiful Polar Engineering Turbo Manifolds. To go with these turbos it is a requirement to use one normal and one reverse rotation turbo along with External Wastegates. These manifolds were designed with the 45mm Turbosmart wastegates in mind, which is exactly what i'm installing today! This is set # 003 and to my knowledge the first set to be installed on a motor!
I actually purchased these Pulsar G25-660 Turbos a little over 2 years ago with full intention of going with a externally wastegated setup, before these manifolds were even announced that they were going into production. It just so happened to all come to be at exactly the right time!
This is something the Z32 chassis has been missing for quite some time now as so many other platforms have been utilizing a similar setup for nearly a decade. These manifolds not only look the part, but also open the door to so many more options for turbo and wastegate combinations. This turbo setup in this video I am anticipating to provide much quicker spool than my old gt2871 but also make nearly 400hp more in a smaller package. This platform has always been limited to the typical cookie-cutter, off the shelf turbo kits offered by certain companies. Although it has simply "worked", It has also been the biggest hindrance and limiting factor.
Of course during this install process I will provide my insights and suggestions as I go to make it easier for everyone.

Just to clarify These were not actually 3D printed in steel. Also, Pulsar has changed the name of these turbos from "G25-660" to the "5449" on their site.

Never owned a 300ZX but have been following Polar Engineering since they showed the rendering of the exhaust manifold. I really want to get the J-Series with a set of mirrored turbos just like what you have for the J-RWD swaps. I’ll likely will have to make the manifolds myself. Already designed the adapter to get a GTR upper intake manifold (basically identical to what you got but with GTR bolt pattern) to bolt to the J-Series lower runners. Your set up is definitely inspiring.

You can make that on stock turbos with a very broad torque curve. A blast to drive. I had 90' TT with a built engine and stock turbos that made 370hp to the wheels.
@@adeadlyfart13 As I believe that my stock turbos will not be in best shape after 30 years I think I will either replace or rebuild them. Goal is to get boost earlier as I feel the old turbos are hitting pretty late. I will definitely go with a mild setup with "small" turbos 😁

Nice build 👌 iv been running the g25 660s for almost 2 years now on my vg30 300zx very similar spec to yours exept iv got the merlin hi ram and im dbw. With a quite basic tune i made 969hp at around 30psi on 95 pump gas and meth Injection. There's still plenty left in it. Iv just put a built th400 in so will be getting in back on the dyno soon and turning the boost up a bit more. Can't wait to see how yours goes, unfortunately i had to have all my parts custom made for my engine. Its great that polar has started developing the vg30 platform now.
I'm interested to see what kind of power you make through the TH400 with the same settings!

@@Blackbullet_racing should definitely be more controllable power that way. And if you're looking for a fast quarter mile that's definitely the way to go.
Looking great Billy. Its probably just a video angle thing, but it looks like the turbos stick out to the side a little more? Hope you don't have any clearance problems getting the engine in. Also, if I may, how come you decided to keep the hydraulic lifters instead of going with solid lifters? Thanks.

Do you have any videos of pictures of how you ran the turbo inlet piping. Is it a full 3 inch to the filters? Polar said they were going to make some but i have yet to see them.
I just used regular 2.5 inch piping with a coupler to the turbo.
Can you build same set up engine for my z ?
In theory would the 300zx boost parts fit a vg33? Im building up a prerunner 03 frontier and rather than swap to a v8 i think it would be a nice project to try and build up a nice little motor using the zx bits.
nah. 90% of the DE parts are too different. Although the SOHC motors are pretty strong as well.
Was hoping i could leach off the zx parts in an attempt to save time on fabrication, oh well. Thanks for the reply. Take it easy🤙
Will you be running the Polar Engineering downpipes as well? Recirculating or open dump? Also, would you share the part numbers for the pulsar turbos please. Setup looks sick!
I will be using the polar down pipes with open dump tubes. Pulsar Turbo change the name of their turbos it appears. The g25 660 is actually the same as the 5449 (660hp) turbo

Hey Billy, been following you for a while here and I’m debating on pulling the trigger on these. I was wondering what the spool up is like with the .72 turbos with the other mods you have or have you not tested yet
Hey thanks! I'm expecting these to spool up pretty quick for a street setup. Especially with the head and cam setup that I have. If you want faster spool up then just get the g25-550 turbos with a .72 ar.

@@birdszed for power I'd say the jwt500's in 272 duration is the way to go. But if you're paranoid about having a higher slightly lopy idle than stick to the 400s.
God it took too long, now I have my motor done (and so did 90% of the community).....You also got the downpipes? open or recirculated?
