Gosh I adore the Cog Hill Family….
Me too!!!
Me three!!!
Me 4 very talented family
ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM!!! Their last name is SMITH isn't it??
I just started to watching them. I came. From morrow hill gang and I just fell in love with the. Family
I don’t know why ppl are questioning you how your going to clean your chicken coup. You have been doing this for all those years. You can see how you look after your animals. Love watching you two. I’m not a pod cast person but don’t miss yours. 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Me neither this is the first podcast I’ve listened to but had to because I wanted more if Cog Hill Farm.
Amen!
Although it's nice to know certain details of those we follow..... Quite frankly they are not obligated to tell us everything about their lives. MYOBezzzwax is an old saying used in my childhood. Although Jason and Brooke are way to classy to use such expressions. 😉
Amen! Those animals live in the Walt Disney World of homesteads. I think mom and dad got it covered…
Here’s a ha ha for you: a few weeks ago when Jason was so ill, I entered him in my prayer book as Jason Coghill. I’ll now cross it out and write over it Smith. Bless you guys!
With most RUclips channels, I just close most episodes when I realize they are going to do a podcast, but with Cog Hill Farm, I enjoy your discussions. Other channels could learn a lot by watching your little sit downs. Podcasts should provide background information without constantly trying to communicate with the viewers. That is what you do that nobody else does. Thank you for your great style.
I just said that very thing in my comment. Great minds .... LOL
I don't notice it so much with podcasts, but the live streams on so many channels are full of the hosts waiting for viewers to sign on and then saying hello to everyone, one by one. Seriously??
@@christinedehn3257 and they come up so fast that they can't say hello to everyone. I've wondered if the ones who don't get a hello get upset about it: not getting special mention on a YT channel. LOL
@@christinedehn3257 You're right. I'm confusing podcasts with live streams. They drive me nuts. I like the format that Cog Hill Farms uses. They are interesting without being preachy, familiar without being repetitive. It wouldn't hurt my feelings if they never have what others refer to as a live stream.
Soooooo Agree those People that sit there trying to read what people are saying drives me Nuts, I move them right along, can't stand that disconnect with those of us watching, I find it Disgusting !!!!! I do like the way you guys do it :-)
Because you ARE Cog Hill40…Mr. & Mrs. Cog Hill!
I am so please Brookes Mom is going to the 40 from the start. I know she would have been fine in her sisters apartment but to be part of the excitement of the move to the new home and still being close for MC to spend time with her and being able to watch from the beginning the 40 turn into all of your home is just lovely
Instead of goodwill, you should go to veterans thrift store or other thrift stores. It seems the thrift stores still things cheaper and Goodwill CEO makes way too much for a nonprofit store.
Just so you know, in a number of regions, the term "goodwill store" just mean thrift stores in general. Similar to how "coke" is used in some regions to mean all soft drinks. I do agree with you that the Goodwill franchise deserves to be questioned.
I agree. We take ours to hospice thrift store
Our goodwill are real expensive you can go to the store and pay 1 or 2 dollars more and get brand new ones that aren't miss shape we have Humane Society that helps animals and we also have Habitat for Humanity you can shop them and get really good prices that's where I donate to and I'm in a small town in Florida not too far from Cog Hill Farm so you might want to check out these options just a thought
My grandsons mom works there and their employee health insurance is so expensive it's really sad.
I also understand the employees (at least at some locations) get 1st choice on all the donations.
MaryCarl has been watching Jamie at Ima Survior use the horse stalls as a nursery. Lol
I live in a humid coastal rainforest climate and stored things tend to get musty and moldy here. I put a layer of clay kitty litter mixed with a handful of baking soda in the bottom of a plastic tote, place a couple of sheets of newspaper on top of it, and pack the tote and place the lid on it. It keeps things dry and unstinky for a couple of years or more.
The clumping kind of litter ???
Wow. Great tip thx for sharing
@@meghamilton9234 I think either kind works as long as it is clay. If you get one with baking soda in it, you don't need to add any additional baking soda.
Your current farm is soooooo clean I can’t imagine anyone concerned about the next farm/chicken coops. SMH
I totally AGREE!!!
But then we must consider there are always 1 or 2 in the bunch that feel they must say something. But Jason & Brooke handled their concerns with grace!
@@mariek8578 They always do don’t they! Such a fine couple!
I agree, I don't understand why folks worry!
❤❤
Hidden Height Homestead, Keeping It Dutch, Walker Farm Fam, and Adler Farms... along with a few others are putting together a pretty cool get together in March 2022. It would awesome if y'all could go ❤
Yes, if Cog Hill goes than I will go!!
The cat been out the bag! Jason literally was walking down the drive with the road to his back, and he said; (don’t quote me on the exact wording) & all while smirking & giggling, “we live on Cog Hill Rd”! 😂😂😂Cleaver Jason!!
It’s a lovely name and I thank you for sharing your lifestyle with your wonderful animals and family,
I am really happy to tune into your podcast and that it is in this format. When other channels have those live streams, they are continuously stopping what they are saying to greet a bunch of different people coming into the stream. It is like trying to weed your garden - you have to pull a lot of weeds to get to the vegetables. I just won't watch them live. So, thank you.
I agree..everything you sit down to watch live..instead of the host just saying Hello everyone..they want to make it more personal to give that community feeling which is great in theory but just so aggravating to try and watch. I stopped do watching live feeds for that reason.
Chicken, broccoli, rice and cheese casserole in the crockpot
I used Damp Rid in my closets & was shocked at the amount of moisture it pulled out of the air.
I love breakfast for dinner.. Eggs, sausage or bacon and potatoes are so easy to cook in one pan like a casserole ..sprinkle of cheese on top.. Onions, peppers etc You can even make French toast for a little sweet treat..It's coming along nicely. 😊 Don't stress ya'll. You totally got this.
Now I am hungry just reading your breakfast recommendation.
@@sharonrimsza7960
ME TOO !!!!😁
I’m from Alabama too and eating breakfast for supper has been a thing as far as I can remember. I’m a great grandmother and my grandmother was a superwoman. They had a farm and raised all their food only needing to go to the store a couple times a year. She would get up every morning and milk the cow, gather eggs, make homemade biscuits and cook bacon on a two burner pot bellied stove. Then she would wake everyone up to come eat. The sun would just be coming up. My grandfather raised sugar cane, cotton and every vegetable. They had no indoor plumbing until 1969 and heated their house with 2 fireplaces and the potbellied stove. I loved those days!
Now ya got my mouth drooling!!!😋 Sounds delish! I haven't made a breakfast, for lunch or dinner, spread like you describe for...well...ever!! Now I must work it into my meal plan!
Thanks friend!👍🏻😉😊
Pancakes and sausage
Put in your crock pot in this order. Steak, foil, baked potatoes, foil, corn on the cob. Look on Pinterest for the recipe.
I hope the Nug Man is not going to be upset with the move. I just love him.
Yes I've always wanted to do that challenge where you sustain yourself with everything that you can eat that comes out of your Gardens.
Ya’ll are natural podcasters…I could listen for days! Good luck with the move!
I agree and they are good "radio voice" people too. I can do something and listen with enjoyment.
Those Mallards are going to follow you to the 40! You are their family and I have a feeling they will look for you guys! I can just see them watching y'all loading up the other ducks and flying over the trailer all the way to their new home! LOL Looking forward to the next video, hurry up Jason! We want to see Nana's tiny house!
Good evening
I love the name Cog Hill Farm! I am excited for your new beginning at the 40. I can't wait to see the animals in their new habitat. I am so happy for all of you. Thank you for taking us on this Amazing new adventure with you guys! 😊
Have you tried baked potatoe soup in your crockpot? Add your favorite Fixin’s on top, Bacon bits, sliced green onions, & lots of cheddar cheese! Have that with one of those store-bought bag salads and some biscuits and you’re good to go.
Make sure you wash those salads because I have run into sand in a bag of prewashed spinach (Popeye's) would have ruined my dish for guests.
Delightful podcast! Dang, if you get any stalkers, put them to work!! 😂
A long time family favorite of ours is ground beef, onions, potatoes and mushroom soup. Put down a layer of gb on the bottom of 9x13" pan, add a layer of sliced onions, next add a layer of sliced potatoes, top with mushroom soup straight from the can, cover with foil till veggies are done, remove foil and brown. You can do a side of broccoli on a sheet pan in olive oil while the casserole is cooking. Bake 350 till done.
Thanks Shirley! This sounds really good. Do you put the hamburger in the 9x13 raw or pre-cooked? Thanks for your yummy recipe! 😊👍 ~Sharon
@@GradeBmoviefan definitely pre-cooked ground beef. 😊
Kimberly Weese 🤗
@@GradeBmoviefan no.... Raw.. It bakes for an hour or so... As said until veggies are done..because meat(layer is thin)..gets done sooner than thin sliced veggies ..imo. I do a similar recipe. But I hope she responds back to be sure. Have a good day.
I love the name Cog Hill, it's perfect.
Looking forward to seeing the progress on "the 40" and seeing the tiny home. You are both a breath of fresh air and I'm so glad I found your channel a couple of months ago. Think I have watched most of your videos from the past already, so now I wait and look forward the next video or podcast.
A big thank you as it really helps to have something positve to look forward to, and I would like you to know how much you are appreciated. ❤
Damp rid
There is a product called DampRid that people who have boats stick in the boat to keep the mildew down. It works great I used it in our basement. They used to sell it at Walmart. Oh Brooke, make a big pot of vegetable soup. You can change it up each day with the type of bread or crackers you serve. Fix some jello with peaches one day or a salad. Just an idea. Beans have lots of protein.
I was searching the comments about this! I use this in my small apt and have used it in our campers that we lived in for several years. They are sold at Walmart and work like a dream!!
My Daddy was the same way he wanted to be doing something all the time. He passed away just before his 99 birthday. And mowed the yard the summer before he pass away. He sold the house to my sister and brother in law years before he passed away. I told him you don't you don't have to mow this yard anymore Mike can do it now it is his now. He said I like mowing it and he doesn't mow it right anyway. When he sold it to them he told them he would sell the house to them but they had give him a place to live the rest of his live. He lived about 10 years or so with them and mowed the lawn every year.
Love you'll stay safe and God bless you'll. Dan
If anyone wants to find ya I’d hope they would ask first, cuz it isn’t nice to pop in uninvited. 😉🌺 God bless
use the clumping kitty liter. the active part of kitty litter is the same as scilcaate gel
I love these podcasts. I enjoy watching your videos. I really look forward to them.
I’m famous for forgetting my list when I do my errands so I started making my list on my iPhone With the yellow notepad app. Now I never have to worry about those pieces of paper I left sitting on the kitchen table… LOL
I have all lists on my phone. The phone is always with me.....not so much the paper list though.
We moved into a farm that had a massive stable with at least 12 stalls for horses. We don’t have any horses, but each stall has a collection of chickens or geese. It’s brilliant
It’s funny how you grow with time and I find it interesting and I love the stories and I can’t wait to see the new Coghillfarm 40 get all set up you’ll miss the old place for a little while but all that wide open spaces that you have at the new yard is going to be incredible and when you do get there please keep in touch with me I have some beautiful trees of Sharon I would like to send to you and Jason loves a big hosta well I have a giant hosta I’d be willing to give him a big cut out of and send it down to you
Oh Jason, since you wear the glasses on a cord, instead of taking them off... put the glasses on your back, ya know turn them around and this way you will have them with you and won’t loose them. God bless
Your podcasts are a hoot and I really enjoy listening to you.
Brooke, I have been one to always forget my list, so I now take a pic of the list with my phone and then I have it.
That is such a great idea! Can’t believe I didn’t think about it!
I absolutely enjoy this Family.
I have to admit that listening to both of you. Gives me great comfort. You three are blessed by God. Love to listen to you all while i am working around my apartment! Thanks for sharing your life 🙏 that i dream of. ❤
You can get small buckets of DampRid at Lowe’s, Rural King, and maybe Walmart. They will pull a huge amount of moisture out of the air and are very economical. They also have hanging bags of it. Love your channel and am so excited to see the 40 come to life!
Dollar tree has them as well
I have used damp rid in my basement for years and it works great.
Put some in my RV when it's in winter storage.
Damp Rid really works! Amazing stuff. You need to check it often, especially at the beginning. That water collects a lot and fast; it needs emptying! ~Sharon
Out of all the homestead channels I watch, this family is the most genuine and down to earth. They have remained exactly the same and not let fame go to their heads. Much appreciated 😍🥰😘
For what my humble opinion means, cogs(wheels) make things working. You 3 are making the Wheels Go Round.
Great song by John Lennon. Live Your Dream Brooke and Jason. God Bless You All!!!
This was an awesome podcast! So many questions answered and so much information about the new farm, so excited for you.❤️🙏
Stew with tons of veggies.
Thank you for answering the question about how you came up with the Cog Hill name
The new name for the 40 should be Cog Hill 40. Please keep the Cog Hill name. Love your videos and family. Mary Carl is a sweet heart.
You should check check out Lumnah acre's barn build. you described it and it includes a good work shop, goat stalls , milking room and baby goat nursery room. plus loft storage. It could give you a template to follow and adjust to your needs.
BBQ Charcoal works 100% just make sure it isnt presoaked with starter fluid ;) Folks who have summer homes along the ocean here in Nova Scotia Canada use it when they close up for the winters (Nov -May).
For your crockpot it's always easy just remember:
Any Meat
Potato
Veg
Seasoning
1 cup of liquid or canned soup, canned tomatoes, water, or broth.
I've done pork roast, beef roast, pork chops, steak etc Never fails
Cobbler is easy in the crock pot too ;)
We had a horse farm nearby where we got free manure, combined with fallen leaves, our kitchen compost, and free pulled fruit and vegetables from a market. By our second year is was black gold!
I can't say that it was a burning question for me, but I'm glad to learn the backstory. Thanks for sharing! Love you guys 💕
Did you all see Lester dancing with Carl this morning? That was some funny stuff. Is that another competition or the result of one? (When you were talking about other names for your farm, I was thinking: You could have called it Chickenmaster Farm.)
Y'all are accomplishing so much! Brooke, I get it - being overwhelmed with so much renders me paralyzed until a plan is put in place or someone else makes a significant move
Yay! I know where the name comes from now!!! And yay, that I was watching this pod cast to know. Thanks once again for sharing this with us, you guys. Glad to hear more packing is getting along and that the Little House has been delivered!! Yay!!
Check Weedum and Weep. They build a great barn. Each stall has a remover divider. There are three stalls for the girls.
Thank you for telling us how your farm got its name. I love 💘 watching your videos. Love all your animals.
Friday night FUN!!!!! Thanks y’all!
You guys are gonna do this!👍👍👍🙏❤️
I just Love Y'all. You make my evening when I see there's a New Podcast up!!!
Scalloped potatoes with your preference ham hamburger etc cooks well in crock pot
So excited about the activities that is going on at
CogHill 40 Farm
🚜 🚜🐓🐥🦆🐐🐈⬛🐖🚜🚜
Darci12u........I think that " COG HILL 40 FARM " is the perfect new name for the new place!!! God Bless!
If you eat most of your veggies and fruits raw, you'll get all the nutrients from them. Even protein. Make sure you include nuts and seeds and a little seaweed, then you won't have anything to worry about. :)
Some veggies need cooking to get the nutrients. Carrots, spinach and a few others I can’t remember.
@@kayrabey1344 OK. I'll accept that. I like those cooked, too, but a lot of veggies and fruits do better raw. We'll have to research this to see which ones. Have to keep our fave family healthy. :)
When I worked in retail we used to use a product called Damp Rid, comes in many forms but we used the hanging bags, it holds the water it pulls out and has a built in air freshener and would be an inexpensive option for the pods. Best of luck with the move!
Please don’t ever change, I love your accent it tickles me. I can’t understand how others find anything wrong with anything you both do or say. You feel like family. I am unable to see you live but I am able to see you in the evening. The kids show is super, keep up the good work.
I look so forward to seeing the the videos and pod casts. I am so excited for ya'll. Things are moving along. Brooke just breath. You guys got this!
Suggestion for Jason's glasses: since you have a cord on them, hang a small tile mate/pebblebee finder/ key finder on the cord. Then you can use your phone to help find your glasses.
Solid wood furniture needs humidity so it doesn’t crack, so don’t stress.
I eat Just Protein Bars for Breakfast. 180 too 200 calories. Walmart and Sam’s sell them. I like the triple chocolate. It gives me chocolate fix and holds me until lunch. I lost 20 lbs during COVID, and am keeping it off. The bars helped.
Brooke, it’s so easy to become so overwhelmed that you become paralyzed and can’t do anything. Jason packing the kitchen gave you a chance to to take a deep breath and start doing one thing to get you moving! You guys really have this and will get it all done!
We all love coghill farm...
Ya'll are killin it! Keep up the great work! 😃
You can buy cheap bulk rice and cut open, to collect moister.
I would stay away from using rice - mice - rats etc will smell it and seek it out!!
I’m so excited to see mamas tiny home 😃😍
Thank you so much for answering my question.
Another one we love is called Sausage Biscuits and grave bake, use 1 can if Biscuits cut into 4s a dozen eggs 1 cup of cheese and a sausage gravey mix. Put the Biscuits in a 9by13 pan scramble the eggs place on Biscuits pour the gravey over it, cook the sausage and pour in the top with cheese and bake for about 35 minutes on 350. We always make extra gravey to put on it when you eat.
What a fantastic surprise to get this notification! Love y'all!
Can you show us more of the working on Cog Hill 40 we all love seeing the process on everything ❤
i am so looking forward to that tiny house tour! You will continue to be "Cog Hill Farm" at the new place, right? I love the name and your logo, it would be weird if you were called anything else.
First thing I do in the morning is look to see if you have a new podcast, FB etc. You both are a joy to listen to. Brooke, you are amazing. Doing all that tractor work! Jason, you are such a ray of sunshine to me. I'm 80 y/o and I used to live, in the summer, with a girlfriend on her parents farm. I collected eggs, fed over 100 chickens and 3 turkeys. To watch you and the family go about your chores is a true delight to me.
I want to know how you chose Mary Carl's name. I've never heard a name like that. What a sweet, sensitive, knowledgeable little girl she is. I love your family. Wishing/praying for all good things coming your way on the new farm. God bless you all.
Me too Brook overwhelmed easily.
love these podcasts - you all keep clicking along - so much getting done - very proud of you 💜💜💜
I think the name Cog Hill is perfect.
That pipe is called a "culvert". I know other people call it something else, but that's what I've heard it called in MO all my life.
In this day and age, you can pay a little bit to get all the info on people you want. You can get tickets, old addresses, bankruptcies, family member names, old phone numbers, etc etc. Just about anything anyone would want to know.
Also a whistle! 😙
@@wordvendor1 yep, heard that too. Just more familiar with culvert😂
Just beautiful love watching your videos.
I would advise against using the cat litter for moisture control. It leaves a smell in your fabrics. Clean charcoal filters are better.
They are not considering clothing.
Thank you for letting the cat out of the bag!!! 🤗
Thanks so much for sharing 👍😎
I just love you guys, you make me realize how much I love my funny husband. Your so cute together.
Progress is continuing!
I also adore the Cog Hill family!!!!
It’s so enjoyable to listen to your podcast. Almost like a visit with friends. ❤️
The man that owns goodwill is wealthy enough from donations. I donate to Teen Challenge or someone that helps homeless or abused .
The animals are going to be so happy with all that room😄. They won’t know what to do at first😄
I’m clapping my hands over all you all have gotten done ✔️
Brooke, don’t stress over the deadline; Jason will make it happen.
I agree with you about moving the animals at the last minute.
Your new home buyers are going enjoy all the wild mallard 🦆 ducks that you won’t be able to catch and relocate to the 40.
I can’t wait to see all the animals moved to their new paddocks.
Thank you for continuing to do your videos and podcasts. I know it’s your paying jobs.
It sounds like MaryCarl has a plan for those horse stalls. 😂 I see some new ponies in the dreams. We’ll see. LOL 😂
Time is quietly ticking.I
I'm so excited for you all! I'm Especially interested in the tiny house. My daughter moved me back up here in metro Atlanta for health reasons & when I get better, I am thinking of a tiny house for myself. She & her husband have an extra lot next to theirs, perfect for a tiny house or cottage.
Thank you for the smiles 😊.
You three make Cog Hill Farm. Love watching all three of you and all your animals. Can't wait to go with you to your new farm. God Bless all of you.
So awesome. Bless her for sharing her heart after making it through so much. Would love to read her book. She is an amazing view of God's grace and protection. So sad.
I like boiled dinner. Any cubed meat with onions, rutabaga, carrots, cabbage, potatoes, corn, and tomatoes (or any combination of vegetables you like), seasoned as you like, cover with stock and cook in the crockpot. Yummy
I grew up in Michigan, and that was a favorite meal when my big Irish ☘️ family got together for a potluck. I use smoked sausage in mine sometimes. I cut it in medium size chunks and then fry them up till they’re really Brown. So yummy 😋. I use chicken broth/stock also.
Darn it,,,, I’m hungry now. Hahaha
My Aunt used to boil potatoes, carrots, turnips and swede with some beef brisket and a few herbs. I just loved that combination and so tasty without masking the lovely vegetable flavours.
That is great that you are able to have the merchants that you need so close
The future looks bright 😎
