Carole Kirschner spent fifteen years as a television development executive. A former Vice
President of Television for Steven Spielberg's first Amblin Entertainment and a Comedy
Development exec at CBS, she’s had the privilege of working with some of the most
    respected writers in the industry.
Switching to the other side of the desk she became a consultant and created and runs
the CBS/Paramount Writers Mentoring Program, which has helped launch the careers of
more than eighty television writers of color, including 14 showrunners. Because of her
work with CBS she was asked to help writer/producer Jeff Melvoin as he developed the
curriculum for the WGA Showrunner Training Program and as the Director has been
running the Program for 18 years.
Ms. Kirschner, through her career coaching practice, Carole Kirschner Entertainment
Career Strategies (carolekirschner dot com) works primarily with screenwriters who are
stuck or need help navigating the political landscape. She recently launched the
successful online course, “How to Pitch a TV Show That Sells” and is gearing up for her
new online course, “Get the F Unstuck: Break Through and Create Your Ideal
Hollywood Career” in late spring. She is also an international speaker and her book,
Hollywood Game Plan: How to Land a Job in Film, TV and Digital Entertainment is
taught in colleges across the country.

    Stuff we use:
LENS - Most people ask us what camera we use, no one ever asks about the lens which filmmakers always tell us is more important. This lens was a big investment for us and one we wish we could have made sooner. Started using this lens at the end of 2013 - amzn.to/2tbtmOq
    AUDIO
Rode VideoMic Pro - The Rode mic helps us capture our backup audio. It also helps us sync up our audio in post amzn.to/3LPIZ8K
Audio Recorder - If we had to do it all over again, this is probably the first item we would have bought - amzn.to/2tbFlM9
LIGHTS - Although we like to use as much natural light as we can, we often enhance the lighting with this small portable light. We have two of them and they have saved us a number of times - amzn.to/2u5UnHv
COMPUTER - Our favorite computer, we each have one and have used various models since 2010 - amzn.to/2t1M67Z
EDITING - We upgraded our editing suite this year and we’re glad we did! This has improved our workflow and the quality of our work. Having new software also helps when we have a problem, it’s easy to search and find a solution - goo.gl/56LnpM

It’s advice I’ve heard before. Nobody wants to meet with you until somebody wants to meet you. You need to build up a little bit of heat or enthusiasm for your writing first. Then the agents will come knocking.

You need to build up a portfolio of writing samples. Also build up a network of industry professionals who can make introductions or offer leads.

So if an agent had say David Fincher as a contact can I ask him/her that maybe just maybe we can get that script in their hand as a candidate choice for the script if the agent agreed that it match the style of say director? Of course it has to go through his agent & representative first.
