i have been waiting for this game since 2017 and was totally worth it, the history get you hooked since the beginning to the end and the retro style really give that spooky touch this history needs, for indie games like this i can still have a faith on living.

Part of me wants to see what those demons would look like fully realized, in a highly-detailed art form, but something tells me that nothing could really do them justice.
We did see the UNSPEAKABLE and I think it looks pretty great

If u notice johns cross goes from yellow to brown showing hes losing faith but after talking with amy its gold again showing she gave him his hope left to fight the unholy trinity

It was his faith in himself, I mean after all the events he went through in game it's hard not to believe in God and the supernatural, he just doubted his own ability to fight evil after failing Amy twice and being revealed that he is deeply connected to the evil cult.
If you think about it, John Ward canonically never got "MoR+IS" he went through and defeated every demon in the story
This man is terrifying when you realize he's doing this with a terrible limp and he STILL managed to pull off the shit that he did against them all, and he was groomed to be a sacrifice as a kid.

Blood soaked John finally got what he needed; forgiveness. Him saying “Amen.” Is incredibly powerful because he finished what he started completely.
If they make an entry focusing on what happens after the Garcia ending, it should be called Faith: Bibles and Buckshot

That might as well already be Chapter 4 at this point, because most ways if not all, I don't know for sure because I haven't played it, end with Garcia ready to fight demons with a shotgun
Here, we see a regular priest fighting 2 literal powerful entities that also rule hell. And the fact that Malphas had to intervene, it sees how Father John is a threat to their world ending plan.

I just realized that there's a big difference between the exorcism at the end and the one during the flashback. John isn't reading from Bible here. He's never fully given up on this and has been rereading and memorizing that passage for a year, waiting to finally save Amy
The idea that he's been rehearsing the line so much he doesn't need to be reading the Bible to remember it is a really cool detail
As a Christian the line "But I destroyed it with the help of the Lord." always gets me. It's crazy how much emotion is conveyed in the Atari voice. You can hear the relief in John's voice and gratitude he has for God in that moment. Many people would have egotistically been like "Hehe yeah I'm a bad ass demon slayer" but John knows exactly who to thank for the victory.

Well, humility is one of the seven holy virtues and experiencing the greatest form of forgiveness would shake anybody to their core. Amy was hig biggest failure and setting it right would make anyone feel lighter than air. Forgiveness blesses the soul.
You could say, we play as God.
In the final fight, getting hit doesn't kill you immediately. God empowers your body through the fight so you can take many hits. Still, John is only mortal. A body of flesh and blood can only channel the might of God for so long before it begins to become overwhelmed. Going into the last fight blind, you're practically guaranteed to be hit at least once. But through God's power you will likely prevail.

was hard and it took more than one try.....but i did it and i got the Good Christian Boy Achievement in my last playthrough, thanks for making this game ❤️
So that was astaroth + malphas, I thought it was Gary & I called the other demon the arrow demon.
I can see the homage to undertale at the final phase of this secret final boss... thanks airdorf for making this wonderful game.. I wonder if there'll be a dlc or side chapter of sorts featuring father Garcia as the playable character.. he's one badass mofo priest

Same. After finishing the prayer and seeing her soul leave and only seeing a pile of bones left. I cried. She didn't deserve her fate and she was long dead. But knowing she got purified and her soul was free was sweet and heartbreaking
Finally a game in which Christianity isn’t portrayed as a gang of nutjobs and weirdos but badass, faithful and courageous people fighting demons who want to eat the world.

I just realized, the attack moves hint to using the flame to burn miriam by shooting that singular arrow projectile at the flame after he shoots a bunch of slow skulls
There's also a note right when you go into the crucible, before fighting Gary, that hints at "the cleansing fire" being the only thing that can stop Malphas
no that's just a randomised arrow because there were other arrows too during the slow skulls attack

The part about Amy is just fcking sad. You can see and hear how tired she was with all the shit is happening to her life even with how monotone and robotic the voice over is. She doesn't deserved any of that and I know its weird but I just can't help but symphatize over a video game character, I haven't felt like this in a long long time so props to the creator for making such a sick game!

Omg I always cry when I see the last scene with Amy, she was just a poor young girl..
she was just a kid working at a clinic and when she tried to quit they tricked her and tortured her physically and spiritually for so long :(( atleast shes at peace now
I too get emotional at the scene where John apologizes for leaving her in such a long and gruesome torment and now he redeemed himself by completing the exorcism and setting amy to peace at last.
My favorite part is how slow and weak this guy is by comparison. He doesn't get any faster when the bullet hell starts, he doesn't get a power up. He's really up against something at a ridiculous disadvantage that's way out of his league.
Actually he does technically get a power up,can surrived ten hits instead of one,implied to be blessings from God himself

When Jon says: "I couldn't saaaaaave you," my eyes suddenly get filled with pollen or something and my nose gets all sniffley. I've never been allergic to a game before, so weird.
Gary may qualify as one of the best villains ever. He is so DAMN unsettling and inhuman despite his follower's insistence that "He is a normal human being just like you and me" And his actions throughout the game qualify him as a truly complete monster. Even his love for Amy and his mother doesn't in any way excuse what he did. And his love for them was really fucked up.
I strongly doubt wicked creatures like him can feel any kind of elevated human sentiments, like love and devotion. The game states that to enter the cult and raise on the tiers you have to complete supress your humanity with corruption, bestiality and rituals. They have no families, no friends and no virtues, only the animalistic-self
I think my favorite part of the faith series is how they just feel like games, they're not tryna be some epic lore expansive 4th wall breaking game theory game

Yes and no half dead she still has demonic power enough to curse John in his dreams and also enough demonic energy to do a bit but she was trapped in the crucible since she’s in constant pain and suffering as stated.
aren't John and Amy more or less dead inside too after Miriam let them live as children after the rest of the orpans are killed? they were left as 'husks' inside, to allow further demon possession, as i understand it.
i want a faith spin-off that is a horde survivor with roguelike elements and its all about john and father garcia (maybe more priests) killing a whole lot of demons and then going for the unspeakable to end it

I'm hearing rumors that if you survive long enough Super Miriam you get a funny easter egg when the final boss gives you a break while goofy music plays. But I haven't seen footage of it at all yet

You can really feel John's exhaustion, both emotionally and physically, by the end of this. Amy, on the other hand, feels like she just woke up, and is forgiving John for dropping her breakfast plate lol. I feel like if she was presented as if she was tortured in horrible ways for a year straight, her forgiving John would have more weight to it.

Yeah this definitely feels like it has some conceptual inspiration from DOOM with the whole aggressive synth and full on demon boss battle
I didn't expect such horror game with your weapon being a cross (and occasional gun) would end up having a danmaku/bullethell showdown.
After having watched the 4hr vid of wendigoon about the game explaining the story and aspects, contexts etc im truly horrorfied of the details what the cultists have done and especially gary which makes this 8bit game with rotorscope some uniquely amazing. I got teary when at the end john apologized to amy for abandoning her to those twisted animals to a long and painful torture both physical and mental and finally redeeming himself by completing the exorcism and lay amy's soul to rest and now with gigachad father garcia, both are gonna hunt those inhuman down and send them screaming back to their vile home called hell.

Man i was ragging soo hard cause i did not know that you have to burn yourself to kill him, i got stuck in this boss for almoust half a hour
theres a note that you can pick up that kinda hints towards it but other than that and the single arrow it shoots towards the braziers are the only indicators. Maybe changing the flames to be blue during the sequence where they leave the body would have been too on the nose

Even though I´m not christian, Faith became one of my favorite games for not only it s universe or gameplay, but the protagonist. He´s asmathic, has a bad knee and he is obviously scared throughout the game, and still, he continues to fight.

I was born in the late 90s but I grew up playing Atari2600 because my dad kept his from his childhood. So seeing that this game existed was awesome. Brought so many memories back

If it was for film adaptation, I'd suggest that John would stick with Garcia to hunt demons but asking Lisa to stay with him for protection.
