- I sometimes struggle to find good and efficient exercises. I love it when I discover something that gives me the feeling that I’m improving a skill.
This is a great exercise for the left hand. First of all, I love it because this is what many violinists warm up with and I respect and love classical music so much. It inspires me in a very different way. I was more than happy when one of my friends shared Schradiek’s exercises with me. I’m just starting my journey with these examples of how to practice but I thought maybe there are some of you who would also like to join me on this adventure 😁
I recorded this video so you can warm up with me for 10 min ;)
I hope you will enjoy it as much as I do 😝
If you need here you have the PDF: www.dropbox.co...
That is really interesting, I never thought to use violin execises on bass as warmup. During my conservatory years I always warmed up on the violin with some Schradiek excresices. This gives for bass a new angle for me. Thanks!
I grew up playing Trombone. I did not take up bass guitar until I was in my 30s. I taught myself the fretboard using Trombone jazz music because it is bass music
I've also found Bach's Cello Suite 1 Prelude to be another good warmup piece
It might be boring to listen, but it's definitely not boring to play. This little etude combines a few exercises into one thing (chromatics, string switching, etc.), so at speeds beyond your comfort zone it makes your brain and body fire on all cylinders. Great stuff Kinga, I'll try to include that one into my daily practice at some point :)
Umm . . . WOW ! Now this is discipline at it's finest with an outcome that is visually and audibly stunning.
Really admire the dedication, discipline, flawless tone and executions. Musicians are a special breed. Love from France, 🖤
Wow! Incredible technique. Keeping your hands relaxed, even on the high bpm’s.
Little finger, left hand should remain hovering over the fret for maximum efficiency
This is a fantastic exercise!!! It's obvious that Kinga puts a lot of time into practicing her craft!!!
I like the concept. Nicely executed and thanks for the pdf link!
Watching her move in the fastest tempo(s), one should realize: she listens with her whole body, that is a wonderful sight to behold and proof of mastery. I'm going to make my best students watch this.
Yes your body axis and the instrume t axis should be in harmony as well
to emphasize your point: the 'rhythm', 'pulse', 'groove' - or however you wanna call it - we can hear in her play ... it is not in the notation. it's the feel, the small varieties in emphasis of certain notes and the supersmall mircosecond rhythmic varieties that define a really good bassplayer as she is.
notation says it's straight forward 16th and for most bassplayers, executing that in a clean way at this speed in a robot-like manner would be a very good accomplishment. every good bass player has to learn to be such a robot through hard work
only then you can enter beast mode and groove like kinga does. when she is playing straight forward 16th, she will add a new flavor. her dynamics create a new rhythmic pulse on top of those 16th. she makes those 16th her own. that's fingerstyle mastery and that's the groove.
Btw the correct plural of tempo is tempi!
My initial thought based on the first minute or so was "This is boring". But by the end I was laughing because of how awesome your execution was and how easy you made it look! Thanks for including the PDF!
Second part of the video and towards the end is more impressive playing but first half was way more enjoyable imo. I listened to the whole video while doing something else. Could've listened for an hour if she played those and similar lines at the pace she played at around 5 min mark.
Lot of the hours of essential practice necessary for developing musical skill is essentially boring. And to become real good, it takes thousands of hours over a lifetime.
It's like washing the dishes every day, but washing the whole sink full 5 or 10 or 20 times.
@@carpediemarts705 If that kind of dedication is boring & tedious to you. Then go on, be desk jockey, or something other that is easier for you. True dedication to any craft may seam lesser to the jealous. Those That Admire True Craftsmanship, Admire True Humanity.
I was I was wondering the whole time why she is so damn good on the bass. Now I've just developed a new theory. Could it be that she puts tons of hours in and practices incredibly hard?
Addendum: Based on the comments to my initial posting above it seems that my casual joke was not always picked up as I intended. So let me elaborate a bit and add some context. My little remark refers to the big debate about what it takes to excel in any area, which automatically gets you to the "10,000 hours theory" of Anders Ericsson and to Malcolm Gladwells book "outliers". The problem with that theory was that a lot of people just picked up the oversimplified version, that you only have to pracise hard for 10,000 hours and you can become a master in any area. Of course it is not as simple as that. You will only put so much work into something you have a real passion for and which you love doing in first place, and this desire will correlate with something that is commonly refered to as "talent". However, what we can take from the work of Ericsson and Gladwell is the message, that desire and passion will not suffice, in the end you have to put tons of hours in - which is exactly what Kinka does! I think the good thing about these theories is, that we can do away with the wishywasy term 'talent' and replace it with words like passion, desire, skill and work. These words are much better, because they give hope and direction and you can work with them, whereas the word 'talent' can easily throw people off. The message "you don't have enough talent" is an absolute killer and can make people stop following their desires.
Shocking! I know! I thought people were born with 'talent' and could just play well from birth. No, not really, but yeah. It takes a ton of work to get that good. I could say I have been playing for 35 years, but my mediocre bass playing shows how lazy I am with practicing.
king, i think you might be on to something here. keep us updated about your investigation pls

That's not it.
Jeden z genialniejszych kompozytorów! Dzięki Kingo, że wskrzeszasz Jego twórczość
Thanks for sharing it! Your technique is amazing. Greetings from Argentina !
Excellent!
Fantastically executed! I'll have to look at the entire series as well as revisit the Kreutzer exercises.
Thanks for sharing.
Very nice! An excellent example of the value of adapting exercises used by violinists for centuries to develop muscle memory to execute difficult passages with flow and ease. Adding accents to different beats on top of increasing the tempo makes it even more fun and interesting. Great job!
Thank you for sharing this! I've been working on it and will keep doing so. I desperately needed this!
Kinga, that's really "breathtaking", in the real sense of the word!
I’ve watched her videos often. She’s a great player. This exercise with the metronome is awesome. Flawless!
Beauty with the bass....I feel I'm growing old but have followed u from years....so it's time to practice...
Saved to my bass list! Good to see you!!!
Thank you for sharing! I'll try this for myself.
Brilliant! What a dicipline! Real masterhood! Congratulations!
Heyy you mentioned this when you were at that bass festival in the netherlands in 2021! Cool to see this vid!
Obrigado pela lição, incrível!
Thanks for lesson, amazing!
Kinga! This is amazing. Thanks so much for the video and thanks double for the PDF. Gonna start practicing myself. Maybe I will be as fast as you in a year or two....LOL!!!
Wow, nice consistent notes, well played. Thanks for the PDF
It's nice to get insight into how great musicians perform so well.
Kinga is bloody amazing, and this is the proper way to practice.
Bravissima...peace from Roma ✌️🇬🇧
The focus she has to learn that is insane. I learned the 1/12 of the piece, it took me forever, and I gave up. What is so hard about this one is there are no repeating themes so memorizing it is extremely hard.
Kinga, you are a Master! Love it,Love you! Thanks for sharing...
It took you less than 10 minutes to blow my mind, thank you Kinga!!
Very kind of you to share music! Thank you 😊
Thanks Kinga for this great challenge 😀 It might take a while but it's fun and gets me focused on reading.... take care cheers Rene
Great to see an exercise like this . Bravo!
Wow, how impressing how fast you can go! I met you at guitar summit Mannheim. That was great! Thank you also for this exercise, Now i can enjoy playing with you the slower part.....

Que genial no creía que serviria para bajo ,gran idea , saludos desde chile
Very good. I use the same way for drum takes. From slow to fast.
YOU NEVER CEASE TO AMAZE ME. BRAVO, KINGA. DETERMINATION, HARD WORK, RELAXING AND LOVING WHAT YOU'RE DOING ALL ALL SHINE IN THIS VIDEO. I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE BEEN TO THE U.S. YET, BUT ONCE YOU GET HERE I KNOW THE REST OF THE COUNTRY WILL FALL IN LOVE WITH YOU AS MUCH AS YOUR FANS HAVE. MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT TO YOU, MY BASS SISTER.
excellent as always, congratulations Kinga...🎸
Wow. Just wow. Words fail me. Listening to you play, your tone and technique, was an absolute treat. But watching you was sublime. Thank you for sharing. Now, I click the subscribe button!
That was awesome. Blast from the past. Started Schradiek in 4th year of violin class at the conservatory, worked on it till 11th and last year. It was so f’ing boring, but had to be done, all 5 positions. You mastered this page, for sure. Great regularity, great precision, great articulation, super clean. Very well done!!!!
One classical way of practising, flawlessly executed 👏👍
Thanks for shared it with us . Let's to the 10min .
Sound quality clear and transparent!!!!! Kinga the best...
I love speed mechanics. Flight of the bumblebee etc. This is precise stuff, love it
Awesome!! Thank you
Incredible! Thank you for sharing this with the community 🧡
Human beings are amazing! Thank you, Kinga!

Thanks for showing this exercise. Impressive warp-speed at the end. 🙂
War(mu)p 🤔
wow, beautifully done
Holy schnipies!! You are great on the bass!! I would have cramped up already (that’s if could even do this exercise) awesome job
bravo. Disziplin. Respekt.
Nice, thanks. Will work on it.
Thanks for sharing 😎👍
Muchas gracias! Saludos
Incredible tempo, great exercise. I started working on line 1 (slower than your starting tempo) reading as if it was bass clef only to realize it’s treble clef. I’m going to keep working on it as if it’s on bass clef.
thanks for sharing this ! you are the best, definitely gonna take my bass to exercise ! 😍😍
You're back! Awesome technique.
this Awesome thank you will practice this
Thank you for sharing this wonderful tool. That last run through looked and sounded challenging, but you executed it very well. Much respect.
Incredible bass player. I just watch and enjoy.
Esto es excelente ! Voy a utilizarlo, sentí paz en la ejecución. Necesito hacercarme a eso. Saludos!
Nice! Thank you.
Fantastic!!!! Great Musician!!!
buen ejercicio, lo an~adire a la lista.
gracias
Respect ❤ Thank you 🙏🙏
At the beginning it didn't make any sense but as the speed increases it kept making sense, this is really nice, I will use this is my warm up exercise. Thank for taking it slow.
Thanks Kinga!
Sou Daniel do Brasil. Gosto muito de assistir seus vídeos, tens sido inspiração para mim. Obrigado
So glad to see you back.
Czyste zło dla paluchów. Bardzo dziękuję za rozrywkę na wieczory - przesmaczne! :)
Pani Kinga to jedna z moich ulubionych gitarzystek młodego pokolenia.
Wow! Unbelievable that would take some real work for me
Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!
Thank you for this!👍
You are an inspiration!
I love your playing you are no joke! 🎸
Thx for sharing... 😃👍
Gracias!
You really are the best!!! At least for me!!! 👌🏻👍🏻👊🏻
When are you coming to the Netherlands for a concert ?
Would love to see you play live 🤗
😳😳 INCRÍVEL!!!
Awesome warm up! I’ll be adding this to my warm up, thanks for PDF! Some think this is boring, they don’t get it :)
Dla mnie bomba! Zaraz się biorę 🙂
I've just bought a bass for myself a week ago. These sure helps moving my finger picking fast.Thxs for the excercise,no worries i can handle guitar scales good.I'm just a bass newbie ":D
Great bass player. Good choice of instrument too. Noticed you also have great posture not compressing your palm against the neck allowing your fingers better motion and a straight wrist. There's a lot to learn by watching this.
Hi Kinga hi!Great that you're back again! The croud was missing you!
Your technical knowledge is brilliant
but how did you know that i am starting to play bass and was looking for a warm up excercise??
Strange!Don't let us waiting so long!
Please send yozr next opus as quick as possible!Your hungarian admirer!😍
Really good technique. Left-hand fingers right up on the frets, where you'd almost intonate without them. I try to do that on guitar because it makes the notes sound better. I'm gonna try this.
What notes are you playing from a beginner.
Great technique !
Hermoso !🥰
Just the challenge of muting the strings between notes so consistently is bananas.
I like this exercise for the finger dexterity as well as a good exercise on sixteenth notes
Brings back childhood memories 🙂 thanks for sharing!
Maybe gloomy memories?
Thank you so much
