this is why the yakuza fandom is the only gaming fandom i bother with because babygirlification of these sad middle aged crime men is constantly encouraged and supported. even the game itself leans into it.
COD fans can't get over the fact that Ghost is so hot he wears the mask so that people can concentrate on their jobs of killing dudes and not his chiseled jaw line, dreamy eyes, and perfect teeth. He's not just hot, he's respectful.
fun fact, the historical chinese war general Gao Changgong, aka "The Prince Of Lanling" actually did this irl, he was said to have such a beutiful face that he wore a scary demon mask in battle so that his soldiers wouldn't be distracted by how sexy he was
Everyone assumed he had a secret identity or something, but we all know his name is Simon Riley. At this point, the reason we still don’t know what he looks like is pretty obvious. He’s just too hot for players to focus on the game after seeing him.
PLEASE. I'm almost convinced this had to have been done on purpose, maybe not intentional, but at no point did anyone go "This seems too gay." because this is a concern for male characters, and always has been.
As someone even vaguely familiar with how actual special forces act, they 100% would do that in the middle of a shit talking session. There's generally a few snowflakes who can't handle it, but they're the exception that proves the rule.
the funny thing is, this started as people just shipping him or simping for him normally and when the baby boys got angry, the girls double downed and went full babygirlification. technically this on them lol
It's literally like an older brother pitching a fit that the little sister played with his G.I Joe and had him go on a date with Barbie, and her taking it a step further and dressing him in Ken clothes and putting him in a cutesy suburban setting simply because she knows it'll annoy him. Like, it's not rocket science. Seeing unwarranted fit-pitching is hilarious.
full transparency I was completely unaware of the Tiktok babygirlification, but I went down a rabbit hole over Thanksgiving break and made two seperate drawings of Ghost as a catboy maid.
As a writer, it's significantly less interesting to just not let your characters heal. To be like "no he's traumatized he can't feel joy" just cheapens the character down to their trauma. They're more than that, and seeing their recovery is always more interesting than just leaving them to stew in their problems.
that kind of character development is exactly why my favorite route of Fire Emblem Three Houses is the one where the main character learns to heal from all the terrible things he's gone through and it's the most compelling plot line imo
I'd argue that isn't always the case. Look at Batman, most iterations of him he never stops being Batman and definitely never lets go of what happened to his parents. Sure he may have the Bat-family and a blood son but Bruce Wayne died with his parents that night, even in a comic he said there is no Bruce Wayne and Batman is the only identity that matters and he's the most popular DC character now Look at Raiden from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, he may have a wife and kid but the only work he can do is military work and combat which is why he chose to join a PMC and become a cyborg. Though he never got over what Solidus and the Sears program did to him which is why he hunts down criminals and terrorists and even abandons his job since stopping them the legal way is too restrictive and goes off on his own path to stop criminals
@@absanchez777 I'm not saying it's the only option, I'm just saying that I find it much more interesting to see them heal. Your take is also valid (I'm just not a Metal Gear or DC fan lol)
I also feel like there is a greater men's mental health concern about male gamers being so angry at the thought that a dude like Ghost could be the baddie he is and still go to Starbucks for a macha chai, and just overall work on himself and give a damn about anything self-care related. This verges into the discussion of toxic masculinity and this sexist notion that dudes, especially "uber duber super masculine TESTOSTERONE-filled" dudes, can't enjoy things that are even close to anything a girl/woman might enjoy. It's actually quite sad tbh.
the utter irony of men being pissed at women for enjoying the idea of soft boy ghost in fandom meanwhile almost every female character has at least one CANON skin that’s some sort of uwu sexualization. As long as Girls Frontline Damage skins continue to exist i will not hear A WORD from anyone. im a simple lesbian, i want cute girls in cool clothes and not whatever the hell outfit candace from genshin got
@@Cilibi oh she’s gorgeous 100% my gripe is that the armor is just straight up ridiculous for the sole protector of a whole village lol. especially since the small amounts of armor we see has some really cool detailing and design choices.
Delusion. Thats what women live in. All you do is bitch about everything being sexualized. You call it abuse and harassment. Men dont do that. Look at how marvel heroes look? Especially the males ones. Super sexualized, especially thor. Stop the lies already its disgusting.
As a Cod Player and a British Man imma chime in, the dialogue between Soap and Ghost is a Textbook example of Healthy Male bonding UK Style. Classic Banter between the Lads! I can guarantee Ghost smirked. You can hear it in his voice. This whole thing is Hilarious btw lol
You can make jokes and still have a straight face, it's a matter of changing the tone of your voice. Not to mention they're in a life and death situation where they're being hunted by a PMC
I can garantee having this kind of attitude is always gonna be more attractive than whinning and getting mad about people liking a fictionnal character lol
that guy yelling about how new fans haven't been through what he and ghost have been through as if he was actually in combat with a fictional character and, y'know, not just playing a video game?!?! 💀
@@DearLilBunBun they really do feel like it at times like the F to pay respects part or when you cant miss the knife throw on the big baddy at the end of one of the games.
My friend had a recent encounter with a film buff on a dating app. She asked his favorite movie, and instead of being like "Oh its this! Have you seen it? We should watch it together" he said "You probably have never heard of it /smug" Buddy, the date was RIGHT THERE
I mean, hey, at least she dodged a bullet. Right then and there you have someone you can drop like it's hot and move on. If it was me, I'd rather say "nah fam," in the initial DMs than go on a full date only to realize "OOOOHHHH, he's a tool."
that's literally how my partner and i got together. we had a long conversation about the Evil Dead trilogy, but I had only seen the first one. So he invited me to his house and we watched 2 and 3 together. we've been dating for three years. men dont understand how dating works!!!!
The hat floater guy fucking killed me because there was AT LEAST 30 different women/girls telling him "no it's ugly" but it literally took 1 dude stitching his tiktok for him to be like "wow you're probably right" and you're sure you're into women? Even though you're searching for the approval of men? Okay
Wasn't there also a second video about exactly that, a woman telling a man that a floating hat is a turn-off and him and all the boys in the stitches not believing her while the comments are full of women reaffirming the original point? I knew exactly what she was talking about, but I'm pretty sure I was thinking about a different video... 🤔
Yeah, the guy wearing the hat in the video gave off douchebag vibes wearing the hat float-style. I think it really depends a bit on what else is there, but the only results I can currently imagine are... comedic joke character, or someone rough and reckless. Friend material at best, but definitely not as a long-term relationship partner
The one edit I would make to the whole "these guys want girls they can teach how to play video games" thing is that these same guys would have absolutely no patience for that. I think it's even worse in reality. I think, yes, they want someone helpless and defensively with the simplest stuff, but the second a difficult part comes up or a match is ranked and will cost them their ranking, they suddenly want the Gamer GF to be proficient enough to not drag them down, yet simultaneously not too good that they steal their kills, but then great enough to act as support as well. Mommy. They want Mommy. They want a Mommy they can show their drawing they made to, but not embarrass them in front of their friends, but still manage to do their laundry and pick them up from the skatepark.
They want a "gamer girl" aka a girl who recognizes how awesome and talented they are at gaming and who wants to hear all about their favorite games without interjecting with their own (wrong) opinions. It's like men in any hobby/work space. They want to feel superior, yet benevolent since theyre willing to sacrifice their time to explain this thing to a woman
Yes! I dated a guy into video games and he tried to teach me a play a couple games but I stink at them! He was getting so frustrated when I didn’t get things perfect on my first try.
This is so funny. Fun fact, it’s canon that Ghost twirled one of his tactical straps around one finger and gently lifted one foot as he smirked that line!
Oddly enough this is giving me flashbacks to when the Mandalorian first dropped. And there two camps of guys: the ones who complained that you don't know if he's hot under the armour and the ones who went Welp time to buy a Mando helmet with a baby Yoda.
"Do you really want a gamer girlfriend or do you just want a girl that thinks it's hot that you play videogames?" You are asking excellent questions. This whole debacle baffles me. They're fine sexualizing women all over the place. Also, kudos to your editor. The onscreen text commentary was gold.
The problem isn't women finding dudes like Ghost hot, it makes sense. The problem is babygirlification of characters like Ghost, essentially second hand emasculation
"men don't want women to like the things they like. As long as girls don't like the same things they like, they can pretend that that's why girls don't like them. Once girls like the same things, these guys have to deal with girls not liking them for their personalities."
The dudes thinking Ghost couldn't possibly smile or smirk because he's ✨traumatized✨ have clearly never been traumatized themselves. Like where do they think all this dark humor they love comes from? A healthy childhood and easy life?
More likely he didn't since they're in a survival situation. And it's possible to change your tone and make jokes without changing your facial expression much as I've been able to do it, confusing the fuck outta the people I work with
The line about how guys just want a girl they can teach video games to rather than an actual gamer girlfriend is so true because I dated a guy for SIX YEARS and every time I beat him at a game or displayed a better understanding of the game's lore than him, he would get mad.
Thank god I didn't grow up getting into games with that odd insecurity complex. My parents got me into games with Mario Kart, I watched my dad play the goldeneye remake, and of course good 'ol wii sports.
I dated this guy where the main reason he was into me is cause I was into games and stuff but would get pissed when I played video games all the time. Like make it make sense???
Yup. I had this in my last relationship. He couldn't stand me knowing more about certain games than him. Any game I'm better at than him is a trash game and I should feel bad for liking it. Any game I liked isn't "that good" and nowhere near as good as his favorite games. Really good time lol
Honestly yeah. Me and my friends were talking about this last night and someone mentioned that point and how a game had to change a character’s age because of how much she was being lewded. I don’t remember the name, but the character was originally 16 but was changed to 19.
@@Alansaurus looked it up, apparently dva got aged before she was even revealed, since the esrb doesn't take kindly to the portrayal of 16 year olds in warfare, and it would've make the game 18+, especially crippling for what's meant to be a family-friendly hero shooter.
The problem isn't women finding dude characters attractive like Jason Todd, Dick Grayson, Bruce Wayne, Ghost etc it makes sense women would find them attractive. The problem is the second hand emasculation of male characters
With all the fanservice and sexualised female characters being peddled towards men this whole time, I enjoy them being mad at the fangirls taking Ghost and running with him. Do more of this please!
Extreme bag fumbling in my opinion. Pro tip: you shouldn’t get mad at someone when they’re literally showing you what they find sexy. They’ve given you the blueprint, all you have to do is follow it. How do you fail at that?
Probably shouldn’t encourage people to follow fictional characters as blueprints for how they *should* act. Just saying. I mean you have to hear how that sounds, right?
I've seen some WILD fanart of female video game characters but how dare we put cat ears on Ghost. Also. . . Maybe ghost is healing from his trauma by being someone's babygirl. He feeling safe and comforted.
I think it's just people having fun and they aren't doing anything to belittle his trauma by making him flirty and their favorite hot guy with a mask. As you mentioned, people with trauma can have a sense of humor and men with trauma could even like cute things or frappes. Like okay war man but wouldn't it be nice for him to enjoy normal ass ridiculously over priced sugar drinks that vaguely taste like coffee? Justice for Ghost being a pretty man and getting therapy
as a traumatized man, traumatized by other things and WAR, yes, we can enjoy things, and we can like cute things, and we can be funny and flirty. it’s not like trauma automatically kills your personality and all. i mean could it? yes cause depression but not like for everyone and not at all times.
Stuff like this drives me nuts. I spent the majority of my adult life on military bases (I'm the dreaded dependa ;) a military spouse), and you know what they have at the B/X (Base Exchange--basically the mall)? Starbucks. Guess who loves frappuccinos? Special Forces dudes. Ferreal. I also was privileged to witness a coordinated spontaneous "Put a Ring on It" a capella performance by soldiers in their battle rattle (long guns included) just after that song came out as they waited in line. It was glorious. The up-down hand movements and flirty hip poses and everything.
@@jexx30 I remember hearing a story about a special forces guy who could not take a cold shower, no matter what. Having "untough" likes/dislikes/ quirks is what makes a character appealing and human.
I mean for characters like Ghost and Bruce Wayne who are most definitely not normal people, yeah their trauma makes up most of who they are. Best thing about their trauma isn't their personality or who they are (though it's close) is the willpower they have to overcome it and get the job done, that's what's inspiring for most dudes
Also from the gamers I know... Gamer boys don't want a girl they can teach games to. They want a girl that comes right out of the bag playing what they play, agreeing with all their opinions, but not playing better than them because that's not very gender roles of a gamer girl lmao. My husband and I have been playing league together for years, and surprise surprise, he initially introduced me to it and was insanely patient with me as I learned. (He was also learning about things I like, it goes both ways). Men who meet us today are so surprised he has a wife who plays league with him, but when they find out how much communication and vulnerability is involved in sharing your interests and getting to know a person they want none of that emotional labor. Husband is constantly explaining that if you go into a relationship expecting the perfect gamer gf, you'll never find her. Find someone you can be vulnerable with who is willing to learn about the things you like and do the same for them. It'll go a long way (and stop assuming girls who play video games do it for attention wtf)
It has nothing to do with sexes, everyone is a fucking asshole on call of duty, I've seen guys be complete jerks and I've seen girls say terrible shit. Girls are a minority in the space so it seems like they're disproportionately targeted, because there's less of them.
Honestly it doesn't matter who you are, people will always be toxic in almost every multiplayer game at one point or the other. It is like trash talking in sports, it will always exist and all you can do is just ignore it.
My theory is he fulfills the same cultural needs as the "cowboy" archetype (Kaz Rowe touches on it in their Queer Cowboy deep dives). He's a symbol of masculity that reinforces norms, so seeing him "baby girlified" feels like a personal attack to them, because it's who they look to as a symbol for performing social masculinity (which therefore must be upheld and unchanged).
as a woman that's been harassed and verbally assaulted so much I've had to abandon games I love. Yeah no you've hit the nail on the head at 10:04 100%. They want someone they can easily win against and have that power and upper hand of being better than them and being the one to teach them. And then once/if they get really good, they then claim all that as being their work.
@@randomnerd3402 I've been having these issues in games for over a decade now. I know of women who've also had hell in games for even longer. It's not a new thing at all, any of what was mentioned.
the same thing happened when the mandalorian came out. everybody had a crush on him and people were like swooning over his wrist showing through the armor. it was great
Single Space Dad fighting his way through the galaxy with his sweet baby boy (& voiced by Pedro Pascal). There was no way that he wouldn't have fan girls.
I'm thinking that being mad about the babygirlification of Ghost is just misogyny. Smiling or kicking your feet might be seen as feminine, and the toxic masculinity guide book is very specific about identifying with characters who have "feminine" traits.
It isn't misogyny. Realistically speaking you wouldn't be kicking your feet up in the air in a sniper position as it is bad posture in the prone position not to mention it makes your silhouette bigger which is the opposite of what you're supposed to do in a overwatch position
@@absanchez777 realistically speaking Simon ghost Riley is my fav meow meow and he's a babygirl who definitely kicks and giggle his legs when he shoots someone.
@@absanchez777 You know what else is fun, but mildly impractical? Wearing a full face mask 24 hours a day in the Mexican sun. If you will accept one impracticality and not the other, then maybe that has more to do with you than realism. You can like Ghost as a savvy tactical badass as much as you want, that’s not misogynistic. What is, is getting angry at people for liking him in a way that you deem lesser because you imagine femininity as frailty. (Also, the game is fiction and our baby girl isn’t even canon. Let people have joy, bro.)
@Old Shoes not necessarily as there have been photos of operators wearing balaclavas during ops, especially by SAS operators when they had to do missions within/near their homeland like that one SAS dude that cleared out a building by himself. He wore full kit and a mask to conceal his identity. And no it isn't misogynistic to find the way non COD fans/new fans/weridos like Ghost strange because they miss the point of Ghost. Not to mention how many popular fictional guys don't exhibit femininity like Batman, Ghost, Jason Todd, Ghost Rider, Punisher, Iron Man, Raiden from Metal Gear, Vergil and Dante from Devil May Cry. The point stands
The funniest people/the people who laugh the most are often the ones who've been through trauma... Also, this entire video is hilarious - those gamer guys really just playing themselves 😂
A lot of people use humor to cope with trauma. I mean, it gets to a point where what else can you do? You either gotta laugh about it or cry about it, and laughing is a lot more pleasant.
I’m extremely happy about all this love for Simon “Simon “”Ghost”” Riley” Riley. Nothing makes me more pleased than seeing edits of him kicking his toes like a 12 year old on the telephone and I’ve been a cod vet for ages
"He wouldn't smile!" To me says those guys think men can only have one of two emotions; anger or dead inside. Also the fact that they don't listen to women actively expressing their wants and desires just explains why they aren't getting women in the first place; they don't listen.
I mean looking into OG Ghost's backstory it makes sense that he wouldn't have much expression, same goes for Bruce Wayne. Ofc there's small moments where they do happen but it's an emphasis on small, the core of the character is that they're messed up inside. For example with Bruce Wayne he is never meant to be happy compared to the rest of the Bat-family. They can live their lives but Bruce will never let the past go
@Dee normal people can. Ghost and Bruce Wayne are anything but normal. Ghost is an abused kid who beat his dad after having enough, joined after the 9/11 attacks, got his brother out of drug addiction, was betrayed by his team leader during a mission in Mexico and was tortured with his team for months, buried alive, his former teammates were brainwashed and killed his family. And Bruce Wayne I'm sure you already know his deal. Imo I see them as good images because despite all the shit they went through (which is worse than most people will deal with) they still power through it and get what they need to get done no matter what. Life's gonna suck ass, deal with it and get back up, other people have it worse is what I get from them
I’m a fan of of Ghost since MW2, but I’m all for the babygirlification and just having fun with the joke. I’ve even seen the maid outfit fanart and it’s amazing. What’s funnier to me is that in MW2019, Mara got a Neko themed skin with cat ears and everything, but no one complained about that.
There's a big phenomenon of Competency kinks. Someone being really good at something can be kind of hot. Especially if that confidence is also in the bedroom.
Yesssss! I used to have a friend who would talk about astrophysics to me and I would swoon so hard at their intelligence and understanding. I never thought to call it a competency kink but I’m so glad I have a word to put to it now. It’s super attractive when someone has mastery over something.
You know what's funny about people saying Ghost is emotionless and not handsome? In the official comics we do see Ghost's face and he is an attractive man with a soft face. He's also very open and raw with his emotions, especially when someone he cares for has either died or in danger. He doesn't show them on the battlefield because he's a professional. In the new game you can hear him try and not laugh when telling terrible jokes to Soap and he is worried for him during that scene...
Bro I did not see this coming but yes Ghost is a 6ft baby girl and its spreading to tumblr. I never played the series but something about him just....babygirl. Telling people not to do something towards a character is just gonna encourage them. Edit: 5:40 jrjifigkgktitktitk I CANT This whole video is hilarious 😂 Edit2: Men will see women lusting over confident fictional men and STILL not know how to be confident. Tbh they're probably just mad that a fictional character is grabbing more attention than them.
"Men will see women lusting over confident fictional men and STILL not know how to be confident." But both examples that this video gave were masked? I don't think confidence would matter that much if you are ugly. How would this confidence even be expressed in a real life context, lol. At most you could try to not be nervous or shy, but i don't think thats gonna make women like you spontaneously or get you any dates "Tbh they're probably just mad that a fictional character is grabbing more attention than them." They are mad about the feminisation because it ruins their mental image of the character and makes them feel that he is being made fun of. Not the sexualisation stuff
Whats funny to me is that i spent so long seeing him on my dash and then suddenly i came across this video and im laughing my ass off that men were getting so angry about a guy i've seen fanart about ranging from cool to baby girl.
ive come to realize that boys/men think Ghost is cool because he’s confident and girls/women find him hot because he’s confident. it’s two sides of the same coin, really 😅 ps: anyone can find Ghost hot for his confidence btw because he’s babygirl 💅✨
@Bee it is so since he's canonically portrayed as an SAS officer attached to an international special operations unit. And if the new Ghost follows the OG Ghost backstory then he was an abused kid at the hands of his father, joined the military and SAS after 9/11, helped his brother overcome drug addiction, was betrayed by his team leader during an op in Mexico, tortured for months and escaped being buried alive only for his former teammates to be brainwashed by the cartel Jefe, his mother, brother, sister in law and nephew died and Ghost killed his former teammates. None of it says babygirl
You're so right about gamer guys not *actually* wanting a gamer girlfriend. Every time I've done better in CoD than a guy, they immediately became furious upon finding out I'm a girl. The gaming community can be extremely toxic for absolutely no reason, and it's ridiculous. In any case, "quite the opposite" was such a power move on Ghost's part. His confidence is 100% what makes him attractive.
Meow-meowification is quite literally the best thing I've seen happen to characters. And it's not just in the process and the product itself, but the contrast and depth it offers when it is indulged so really, it can be good character writing.
I would so love if the voice actor for Ghost got in on the whole thing and started doing clips of him saying the lines and doing anything but keep the mask on and be in a sniping position. Also as a guy into women, whether or not the person I like is into video games or not doesn't really matter that much to me, though being able to play stuff together and nerd out about game lore, experiences we had with certain games, choices made in those games, etc. to each other is nice.
The talk about confidence is very funny to me because I'm very much aroace and still know that confidence is extremely hot. Like, when someone, specifically a fictional character, acts like that, it's pretty much the only time I go 'okay, I get it, I guess'
I think part of the reason that men hate the way women are responding to Ghost is not that they don't want women to find him attractive, but they want women to find him attractive in the same way that they find him (non-sexually) attractive. They want women to find him hot for being a stoic badass sniper because that is what they find valuable about him as a man. And the other part is that they just don't want women in 'their' space enjoying 'their' thing.
Nah yall come into "our space" and enjoy it too. And it makes sense that women would be sexually attracted to dudes like Simon, Soap, Bruce Wayne, Master Chief, etc. Just the whole baby whatever it's called ification is kinda werid imo
@@absanchez777 if you think it’s weird then that’s fine and the same goes for anyone else who may think it’s weird. But it’s funny when some guys have a meltdown over this stuff and it’s honestly pathetic lol
Or some dudes just like CoD realistic, isn’t Ghost supposed to be a realistic SAS soldier in the first place? Like no SAS soldier would get turned into a baby girl in real life
it’s so cool that you even respond to people who email you with questions about creating content, that’s so kind! you’re definitely one of the creators that has set a good example i like to follow BECAUSE of your sometimes disorganized chaotic energy, like instead of putting off recording a video due to anxiety about not feeling “prepared” enough or whatever i just sit down in front of the camera and hit record, then the editing process always produces SOMETHING usable 😅
For the tactile gear I have a possible answer as my partner is the guy who understood the assignment- Paintball. Paintball looks a lot like real tactical stuff to anyone else.
I've seen all of this unfolding on TikTok and what I've learned is that women who like men will never cease to baffle me in what they have decided is attractive 😅 and that the archetypal gamer men continue to be just sorta the worst
It fits with Concept I've heard before about the difference between attractiveness with women and men. Men tend to be more visual and, thus look for visual traits in their appeal. The obvious examples are obvious but even in cases like 'glasses =smart girl' or 'tattoos =tough '. Women aim at the behaviors to find those traits. Poses or phrases that are comforting if you want someone protecting, or a smirk to show that you are risk taking. It's more 'what you do' than 'how you look'. That would explain ghost. Note that there isn't any talk of what he may look. It's all about how the phrase makes him confident and sure of himself and THAT'S what's drawing girls in. The mask is essentially meant to be awake up call to all the guys that let other guys tell them they can't find anyone because they 'look bad'. You can wear a cheesy skull mask or dress up like a clown. If you can act the part then you too can be attractive to women. And the anger of gamer boys everywhere.
@@iandakariann yk thats really eye-opening! It does make sense that guys looks for physical traits, I instinctively do, when finding women attractive. I feel a big factor of that is just that women have been so sexualized for the past like 50 years in everything, that now its just a part of society, and a go to response. Meanwhile the whole personality and actions of Ghost does make sense, i've experienced it myself, actions do raise you to a higher attractiveness rating. I will also add that I feel the mask does add a mysterious aura around him, which can be attractive, as well as it lets your imagination decide what he looks like. Which you would make his face your ideal man, which definitely adds to the appeal.
Their masculinity is so fragile that they can't even see this character that they supposedly love as a three-dimensional human being with sexuality, likes/dislikes, or personality. He is just a badass with boom-boom sticks.
Well yeah within the confines of the game (and his backstory if the new Ghost follows the OG Ghost backstory) we don't have much info on his personality other than that he's been through alot, loves his family (mom, brother, sister in law, nephew), has a sense of duty since he joined after the 9/11 attacks and what happened to him after a mission went wrong in Mexico molded him into who he is now
i thought this video was going to be about swedish band Ghost, since their song Mary On A Cross is popular on tiktok and the band wears masks and has quite a bit of lore
i felt so called out when you said 'theres fanart of every tragic character with cat ears' because i have literally drawn makoto yuki from persona 3, a character with a tragic backstory and a tragic fate, with cat ears
As a modern warfare fan I thought it was great seeing and hearing ghost still able to make jokes despite his traumatic past it shows he's still human and comedy is good medicine when going through bad times as far a the ones blowing up over it I don't think they understand the concept of comedy and poking fun at something which is sad. Well done on the video
As someone who just started TODAY playing the MWII campaign and was calling Ghost "my malewife" through the first mission, I feel SO vindicated by this video 😂😂
You sent "Any fictional character is capable of being baby girlified, if their backstory is tragic enough. Look at any massive big tragic backstory character, and there's at least one fanart of them with cat ears, and thats just something you need to accept" *Looks up Guts from Berserk*.... *is not disappointed*
It’s funny to me how some male gamers are saying women are sexualizing Ghost, yet for YEARS men have done the same thing (even worse) to so many female video game & anime characters (Lara Croft is a classic example) AND minors (Nezuko from Demon Slayer is another example). It honestly so disgusting and just contradicts everything that they are saying.
That one dude that's mad about women sexualizing a FICTIONAL character.... I bet he also tells real, actually living women to calm down when we ask to not be sexualized literally no matter what we're doing.
this video jumpscared me and i got face blindness for a second bc i thought this was going to be about the band ghost and i immediately grabbed my popcorn. and after watching the video it can still be applied to the band lmao *edit:* ANYONE can be simon ghost riley. even the band ghost.
This was a sonic slap to the face I’m wheezing. Also PLS when are we getting the Swell “do straights actually like each other” interview/breakdown/dissertation?
Ghost in the game is absolutely hilarious The banter he has with Soap is borderline flirting and I fucking love it He’s an edgy, brooding dork that’s instantly disarmed by extremely comfortable rapport with strapping handsome men
If theses gamer boys' anger tells us anything, its that most men genuinely just have no idea what women (or anyone attracted to them, for that matter) find sexy. Like, to sit there and say "why are they sexualizing *him* of all people," makes me think about how most guys seem to think sex appeal begins and ends with physical attraction. Body language, voice, character and so many other things play a lot larger of a role in finding someone sexually appealing than men seem to give them credit for. I hope those dudes eventually figure that out and stop hating on us supporters of Ghost doing hotgirl shit.
"guys dont actually want a girl who's a gamer already, they want someone that they can like teach something." I think this hypothesis is true. and this is not just limited to cishet men, I experience this with cis gay men too. basically, I put on my dating profile along the lines of "I'm just a first timer, can you teach me?" and minutes after I put that, my dms are blowing up bcoz so many of them are reaching out saying they want to teach me (and take what "teach me" means as you will)
Crazy how female characters have been over-sexualised and infantilized since the beginning of time but as soon as a male character gets the same attention by woman it’s suddenly a bad/cringe thing
It's not about Ghost being liked by women, it makes sense. What is cringe is the babygirlification/second hand emasculation of him, again its just cringe
As I understand the whole point of Ghost's presence in the new campaign is that he's coming out of his shell, which means that these people are not only misunderstanding psychology, but also the very concept of character development
i read simon riley smut on tumblr outta spite but boy did i stick around for the content. pissing off men, funny, finding hot shit to read while pissing off men, double win
aw, title changed. I like "babygirlification" Edit: because I don't like leaving double comments. Do you think Ghost had to order a skull bandanna specially or did he make it himself as an arts and crafts project? totally worth the edit
once i would have replied with something like "um actually arts and crafts projects were invented by sailors because of lots of downtime on boats and a need for nets and repairs out at sea" but then i saw videos on Men's Rights baking and they were literally just saying things like that so there's no level of irony i could add to indicate i was being silly
The OG Ghost mask/the one he wears at the end more than likely is bought since the design is essentially part of the mask/stitched in if it makes sense. The new mask probably is hand made since there are stitch lines around the outside of the skull mask. Though if you want a hand mask skull mask look at the COD Ghosts masks they definitely look like they took white paint and put it on black balaclavas
I’ve always been a gamer girl just cuz video games are fun af and I’ve had boyfriends who only wanted to be with me cuz I was a “gamer girl” but then they’d all complain about how all I did was play video games … They just wanted me to be super into watching them play but not in a way where I knew how to play the game better than them, just in an admiring doll on the shelf way. The baby girlification made me laugh audibly and I liked Price more than Ghost cuz the sexy accent but don’t tell my exes lmao
William, you're a legend among editors. Thank you for your service. Hahaha Edit: this has got to be the most unfamiliar to me topic I've ever seen Amanda chase down. Lol the things that get people riled is silly. Hahaha
I’m a guy and honestly, I have no issue with people having fantasies about a character (unless it’s super weird). Some guys complaining over this is just childish as we’ve got actual problems in the real world. I mean, there are morons out there who think the world is flat, and here they are talking about a video game character. And that guy who says “You don’t know ehat it’s like to be with Ghost” is pure cringe. Seeing him treat video game characters as if they’re in the real world is just as painful as having a nasty stomach cramp.
lets be honest, the guys complaining about this stuff are the guys searching overwatch rule 34 on ph after screaming whenever they see a girl in a cod lobby lol
To give you additional context, as someone who was there and obsessed with CoD lore (sadly), in the trenches with Ghost if you will: In Call of Duty 4 (2007) they killed a character named 'Gaz' whom players really liked, like he was just basically soldierman (w/o a mask) who has a British accent. Ghost first appears in Modern Warfare 2 (2009) and has the same voice actor as Gaz and fills the same role that Gaz did in the previous game. I've always assumed that the developer (Infinity Ward) created Ghost for that game as a way to bring back Gaz because players liked him too much, so you could argue that Ghost was created as fanservice for like, CoD fans. Anyway that's all, I just needed to flush all of this lore knowledge from my brain, thanks for the vid
No 100% guys don’t actually want girls who play games. I intimidate guys when I tell them how many consoles I have or how I have a better Pc than them. Or they HAVE to try and discredit me and quiz me on the games I say I play. Ugh
This situation is flashing me back to my best friend's awful ex boyfriend who relentlessly tested me on gamer lore and got pissed off whenever I did anything better than him. I couldn't even have fun with games because I felt like I had something to prove in the name of feminism lmao
As a guy and huge fan of the MW franchise as a whole, I can totally agree with this. Ghost and protagonists like him tend to be role models and characters we look up to as guys like "yeah, he's badass, I wanna be like him!" so I can totally see why some would get defensive, but even then, it's just a character. Like you said, the internet is gonna internet and do its thing, whether you like it or not, and you should just have fun with it and not take this whole situation so seriously. some of the edits are funny and great. Plus, seeing how much love the characters have been getting from everyone, especially women, has been inspiring and unifying in the sense that it makes discussing common interests a little easier and giving us a character which we can all agree is hot lol.
I feel like there is a misunderstanding that we don't sexualise Ghost, we do. We all love him, yes there are people against it but most of us are chill. Also a side note even with the mask his eyes remaine extremely expressive in the game, we see him like Ryan Gosling with the ,,he's literally me" movement.
this is why the yakuza fandom is the only gaming fandom i bother with because babygirlification of these sad middle aged crime men is constantly encouraged and supported. even the game itself leans into it.
i barely know anything about the game, but i enjoy the babygirlification of the yakuza dudes every time i see it pop up on my timeline

It's the same reason directors are always covering Tom Hardy's mouth. His lips are too pink and plump for the manly roles he gets cast in.

As a writer, it's significantly less interesting to just not let your characters heal. To be like "no he's traumatized he can't feel joy" just cheapens the character down to their trauma. They're more than that, and seeing their recovery is always more interesting than just leaving them to stew in their problems.
oh my god, I didn't even consider that angle. you're a genius!
that kind of character development is exactly why my favorite route of Fire Emblem Three Houses is the one where the main character learns to heal from all the terrible things he's gone through and it's the most compelling plot line imo
I'd argue that isn't always the case. Look at Batman, most iterations of him he never stops being Batman and definitely never lets go of what happened to his parents. Sure he may have the Bat-family and a blood son but Bruce Wayne died with his parents that night, even in a comic he said there is no Bruce Wayne and Batman is the only identity that matters and he's the most popular DC character now
Look at Raiden from Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, he may have a wife and kid but the only work he can do is military work and combat which is why he chose to join a PMC and become a cyborg.

Right? I have friends with nightmarish childhood and they're hilarious.
They can live their lives but Bruce will never let the past go
@@absanchez777 it makes sense but promoting it as if people cant heal and manage their trauma and having a shitfit over it isnt a good image.
Life's gonna suck ass, deal with it and get back up, other people have it worse is what I get from them
Men: "Man I wish I could have a gamer girlfriend 😔"
*Girl joins the lobby*
Girl: "Hi!"
Men: "GO BACK TO THE KITCHEN FEMALE!"
LMFAO
I’m a fan of of Ghost since MW2, but I’m all for the babygirlification and just having fun with the joke. I’ve even seen the maid outfit fanart and it’s amazing.
What’s funnier to me is that in MW2019, Mara got a Neko themed skin with cat ears and everything, but no one complained about that.
I mean I found it stupid. I also find the whole babygirlification (type that shit fast damn) of Ghost stupid too. Least I'm consistent
@@absanchez777 well most of them do it to get the tiktoks boys mad, but it's not like other characters weren't simped over so i don't see the problem
The guys who say he doesn't smirk. Completely forget that he repeatedly makes jokes and banters with soap. Bro has always had a bright side.
He called the villain "mustache man" does he not have a name??
Bro I did not see this coming but yes Ghost is a 6ft baby girl and its spreading to tumblr. I never played the series but something about him just....babygirl.
Telling people not to do something towards a character is just gonna encourage them.
Edit: 5:40 jrjifigkgktitktitk I CANT
This whole video is hilarious 😂
Edit2: Men will see women lusting over confident fictional men and STILL not know how to be confident.
Tbh they're probably just mad that a fictional character is grabbing more attention than them.
"Men will see women lusting over confident fictional men and STILL not know how to be confident."
But both examples that this video gave were masked? I don't think confidence would matter that much if you are ugly. How would this confidence even be expressed in a real life context, lol. At most you could try to not be nervous or shy, but i don't think thats gonna make women like you spontaneously or get you any dates
"Tbh they're probably just mad that a fictional character is grabbing more attention than them."
They are mad about the feminisation because it ruins their mental image of the character and makes them feel that he is being made fun of. Not the sexualisation stuff
Whats funny to me is that i spent so long seeing him on my dash and then suddenly i came across this video and im laughing my ass off that men were getting so angry about a guy i've seen fanart about ranging from cool to baby girl.
ive come to realize that boys/men think Ghost is cool because he’s confident and girls/women find him hot because he’s confident. it’s two sides of the same coin, really 😅
ps: anyone can find Ghost hot for his confidence btw because he’s babygirl 💅✨
But he isn't though?
@@absanchez777 if you say so !
@@absanchez777 he’s my baby girl 🥺🖤
@@peachybun how so
I've literally seen amanda's comments on ghost tik tok edits that I've liked I'm SO glad she made a video on this
You're so right about gamer guys not *actually* wanting a gamer girlfriend.
I thought you were talking about Ghost the band for a second and almost die inside
Ghost (the band) also has rampant babygirlification and sexualizating the characters who also wear masks lmaooooo
Same
girl same that's why I clicked
@@Force-hiddenmasquerade I mean, the ghouls during rituals are thirsty XD
WE JUST WANT CONFIDENT MEN. But seriously that’s what his line is. A confident men responding to an attempt at an insult lol
I also have this theory that they're jealous and they want women to find them hot so they get mad for attention lol
Or some dudes just like CoD realistic, isn’t Ghost supposed to be a realistic SAS soldier in the first place? Like no SAS soldier would get turned into a baby girl in real life
Was very shocked about two things: The fact that this was happening and that I was hearing about it from you.
"Guys don't like girls that like sports. Guys like girls that like guys that like sports." Set It Up said it best.
it’s so cool that you even respond to people who email you with questions about creating content, that’s so kind! you’re definitely one of the creators that has set a good example i like to follow BECAUSE of your sometimes disorganized chaotic energy, like instead of putting off recording a video due to anxiety about not feeling “prepared” enough or whatever i just sit down in front of the camera and hit record, then the editing process always produces SOMETHING usable 😅
For the tactile gear I have a possible answer as my partner is the guy who understood the assignment- Paintball. Paintball looks a lot like real tactical stuff to anyone else.
I would also add airsoft to this. A lot of people who do airsoft frequently will buy gear like that for it.
Airsoft, not to mention real gear is not hard to get as a lot of people who are into guns like me have our own guns and gear
You sent
"Any fictional character is capable of being baby girlified, if their backstory is tragic enough. Look at any massive big tragic backstory character, and there's at least one fanart of them with cat ears, and thats just something you need to accept"

As a woman who also got confused feelings about the clown leaning in, I 100% AGREE. Also, I'm terrified I might develop a hot clown fetish wtf

Ghost in the game is absolutely hilarious
The banter he has with Soap is borderline flirting and I fucking love it
He’s an edgy, brooding dork that’s instantly disarmed by extremely comfortable rapport with strapping handsome men
If theses gamer boys' anger tells us anything, its that most men genuinely just have no idea what women (or anyone attracted to them, for that matter) find sexy.
"guys dont actually want a girl who's a gamer already, they want someone that they can like teach something." I think this hypothesis is true. and this is not just limited to cishet men, I experience this with cis gay men too. basically, I put on my dating profile along the lines of "I'm just a first timer, can you teach me?" and minutes after I put that, my dms are blowing up bcoz so many of them are reaching out saying they want to teach me (and take what "teach me" means as you will)
You were so correct in saying that this video was chaotic but I loved every minute of it lol
You make so many videos about things I couldn't care less about, but I watch anyway because you're just so entertaining.
I like "babygirlification"
Edit: because I don't like leaving double comments. Do you think Ghost had to order a skull bandanna specially or did he make it himself as an arts and crafts project?
totally worth the edit
I like the idea of Ghost made that bandana from what little I watched of the new COD game
once i would have replied with something like "um actually arts and crafts projects were invented by sailors because of lots of downtime on boats and a need for nets and repairs out at sea" but then i saw videos on Men's Rights baking and they were literally just saying things like that so there's no level of irony i could add to indicate i was being silly
I’ve always been a gamer girl just cuz video games are fun af and I’ve had boyfriends who only wanted to be with me cuz I was a “gamer girl” but then they’d all complain about how all I did was play video games …
They just wanted me to be super into watching them play but not in a way where I knew how to play the game better than them, just in an admiring doll on the shelf way.
The baby girlification made me laugh audibly and I liked Price more than Ghost cuz the sexy accent but don’t tell my exes lmao
William, you're a legend among editors. Thank you for your service. Hahaha
Edit: this has got to be the most unfamiliar to me topic I've ever seen Amanda chase down.
I've seen a lot of gamer guys use ghost as their mascot for misogyny and homophobia so this makes me so happy hehe
lets be honest, the guys complaining about this stuff are the guys searching overwatch rule 34 on ph after screaming whenever they see a girl in a cod lobby lol
A meek shy guy in a mask....THE HALF OF THE COD GIRLIES WHO LOVE KÖNIG!!
KÖNIG MY BELOVED FR HES THE MOST BABYGIRL OF THEM ALL
Yet another topic I have zero connection to/interest in, but your ability to deliver backstory/info/your (great) take keeps me ENTHRALLED. 👏😘
9:14 goddam, that is some genuinely funny shit, I agree this is canon
Edit: yes, Ghost is 100 percent unfiltered kitty meow meow lol
I feel like there is a misunderstanding that we don't sexualise Ghost, we do. We all love him, yes there are people against it but most of us are chill. Also a side note even with the mask his eyes remaine extremely expressive in the game, we see him like Ryan Gosling with the ,,he's literally me" movement.
