I was going through withdrawals from h3roin and m3th. Absolute agony. In a dream, a friend who had died told me "your legs are cramping because your brain wants them to go get drúgs. Go for a walk. Trick your brain" and the next day, this song popped up on my RUclips. Sober for 6 years! And a Kimya fan for the rest of my life ❤
This song saved my life. I'm not kidding. It destroyed me, broke me, and left me with no excuses for staying addicted. Thank you Kimya Dawson, Jerrica Josh for posting this, Cai at NaNoWriMo for linking me to this, my ex-fiancee, my friends, my family, and most of all Cansas, who helped me put the pieces back together when I was all but dead. If you struggle with addiction or any other deep personal issue...please, tell someone you trust and work through it. Rock Bottom is not the end of your life. You are not alone. You are wanted. You are loved. Walk Like Thunder.
You are most welcome! I used this video in my blog at www.kingpollux.wordpress.com if you're interested in checking it out! Much love for sharing this! Were you there at this show? Just curious. :D
Dionysian Apollos I checked it out. It's awesome to see someone use this video the way you have. We were at this show, this was shot by my brother. It was honestly one of the best shows I've ever attended. If you're on Twitter I'm @RidiculousRose on there. =)
Thank you very much! Yea, this song...this song really got to me. All of her music does, but this one...oh Gods. Wow, that's awesome! I can't imagine any of her shows not being all kinds of epic! Haha. I am on Twitter!@KingPollux is me!
This song floored me. Its beyond personal and touching and straight up beautiful. Amazing. If these lyrics don't resonate with you, you probably just haven't lived enough.
Listened to this song on the way to work yesterday and had to sit in the parking garage for a good 5 minutes to collect myself after sobbing real hard. This is such a good song.
I am sure that listening to this song is more healthful than any cleanse... (clears out all toxins through the eyeballs) edited: 8 years later! I just discovered this.
I came here for Aesop, who is my idol (having an idol at my age sounds stupid), but I honestly was blown away by Kimya. She has an innocent and untainted quality to her voice which I've not heard before. As for Aesop... He paints the picture which is otherwise lost.
I'm guessing she's done it enough to work through the subject matter but I felt like she was on the verge a few times in this rendition here so.. Idk tho.
I don't understand the appeal, and this particular performance definitely doesn't do her any favors. I understand this kind of thing is subjective to a great degree. So, I'm curious, what is it about her voice that's so inspiring to you? She sounds amateurish and extremely bland to my ears.
@@ConsciousRobot I'll give it a shot: The appeal comes from those very characteristics which you attributed to her. It's not overly produced nor is it pretentious. The subject matter is real and the emotional affect is genuine. Several times throughout this particular rendition of this song you can clearly see how hard she's trying - and for the most part manages - to hold it together, perpetually walking on the edge of just completely losing her shit.. I understand not being a fan of this kind of thing but to feign ignorance regarding the appeal is silly.
this is absolutly incredible. theyre styles contrast in the most amazing way, it fits in the strangest way, im stoked to hear the abum when it comes out
Gives me chills. I have to listen to it while I run because I can't remain still when I hear her singing. I was at the Mpls Uncluded show, it was amazing:)
I heard this for the first time at an Uncluded show in Omaha where I live. It got me so emotional I knew I had to find other versions and this one is the best. On one hand,it's a shame they'll never collaborate again but on the other, what they put out into the world in that short time will live forever in the souls of those that felt it
Ya'll saw kimya's name in the title of the video. You must have known you werent just going to hear Aesop. It was a beautiful work on both their parts and very heartfelt. This is true music.

@c0dead Ammi, previous manager of Sidewalk Cafe in NY (friend and in music), Alex, just a friend. Both of which I don't think are well known. First time I heard this, I was half listening to Aesop and heard Minneapolis and thought it was about Eyedea, but then realized it was about Camu.
It's a really deep song. Losing someone close is a shitty process. I thought that it might have something to do with Eyedea passing for some reason. Guess not though
i wanna get a kimya dawson tatto either a worn out shoe w “walk like thunder” written by it or the speech bubble off the “remember that i love you” album cover
@swiminthissilense Funny, I got turned on to Kimya because I wanted to see aesop. If you haven't, you should delve into aesop's catalogue. There is some true lyrical genius. The two are now my two favorite current lyricists.
I think they knew their styles were completely different. Did they aim to mesh them together? I don't think so. I also said this under Delicate Cycle video, they didn't create combination, but extreme contrast. I suppose Aesop's exceptionally satisfied with this, since he's often out of logical bounds and what he does is quite experimental, reminding one of surrealists and Dada artists of 20s. Personally I enjoy Kimya's sweetness in the midst of oddity, or Ace's oddity in the midst of sweetness.

This song saves lives. When I get weak, I remember to listen. Work through it. Stay strong. Find your magnetic north and cleave to it.
+Content Love Knowles
This has been my motivator, my mantra, my call to self accountability and action. Thank you dude. I mean that shit.
I can't even listen to this song without crying, how the hell did she SING THE WHOLE THING WITHOUT TEARS
This song floored me. Its beyond personal and touching and straight up beautiful. Amazing. If these lyrics don't resonate with you, you probably just haven't lived enough.
Or died enough
This song makes me cry every time I hear it.
She has such a beautiful voice.
And such touching stories.

I THOUGHT THOSE WINDOWS LOOKED FAMILIAR, I WAS AT THAT SHOW :D
greatest show ive ever been to btw
Aesops lyrics never cease to amaze...
"And I cursed the skin that he was in for all the ways it had let him down."
I just realized Aesop's verse was about Camu Tao. That's some deep shit. This was hard to get through. Fucking amazing.
I came here for Aesop, who is my idol (having an idol at my age sounds stupid), but I honestly was blown away by Kimya. She has an innocent and untainted quality to her voice which I've not heard before. As for Aesop... He paints the picture which is otherwise lost.
I'm glad I didn't die before I found this.
"I am beautiful, I am powerful, I am strong, and I am loveable."
-Kimya Dawson and Aesop Rock:)
this was one of the most amazing pieces of art I've seen in a long time
I can't believe she can sing this song without crying
I'm guessing she's done it enough to work through the subject matter but I felt like she was on the verge a few times in this rendition here so.. Idk tho.
@@88_TROUBLE_88 You can hear on the studio recording her voice is very very fragile at times, just about to crack.
For years, every time I watch this, it's tears. Cheers all, keep walking.
So moving, so incredible. Thank you both for being alive, and sharing your talent with us.
this made me cry, for real...amazing.
This whole song is beautiful. The lead up makes the conclusion that much more hard hitting..Listen to the song guys. Don't skip it. You'll regret it.
First time I've ever heard Kimya sing
Followed shortly by the first time I've written a song
Talk about inspiring

This show was so badass! Aesop and Kimya killed, fabulous venue, fabulous San Francisco vibe. She's so awesome.
kimya's amaazing , she makes these subjects so relatably to everyone, first time i heard of aesop but am shocked at the talent.
this is absolutly incredible. theyre styles contrast in the most amazing way, it fits in the strangest way, im stoked to hear the abum when it comes out

Same here pal! It brings me to tears every time. I'm sure she had her fair share of tears when her and Aes wrote it.
Ya'll saw kimya's name in the title of the video. You must have known you werent just going to hear Aesop. It was a beautiful work on both their parts and very heartfelt. This is true music.
probably one of the best tunes i've heard since a tom waits album. will definitely be sticking to this.
lol aesop looks like mikey!!!
Wow, I don't think I have ever heard anything like that before. Awesome.
That comment truly spoke to me, well put!
so beautiful. I love both aesop and kimya. keep rocking!
holy fucking shit...
just... oh my fucking god
I love her, I love this
makes me cry like a big baby every time.
Love their voices together...
I miss this band
Holy shit. How did I miss this show?
i cried when i saw this live too...
Simply gut wrenching...
If someone could transcribe Aes' part I'd buy them a beer.

still love this song
What a beautiful evening this was.
this song makes me cry every time.
same here!
i almost cant relate to the story of this song but it's so damn emotinal!
Yeah it just reminds me of the time I almost overdosed and the friends I've lost over the years

This is so good
Jeez this is deep.

It was good, it was sad, and it always is a bit of both. I miss my friends. i miis my love. EricJustinTime.
damn, her voice sounds like shes been through all these stories..... if she has that's fucking crazy i would have broke down after 2 minutes..
ahhhh that song got me
Every time.
Holy shit...
That is all I can say. I'm speechless.
Best song ever!
Awesome video. Thank you for sharing.
So deep.
beautiful
This is my first listen and this is so heavy 😞
Sooooo awesome
I saw them do this on 5/11/11 in Boston. Was pretty rad. He always does the swaying, too.
@Skizzott23 I think its about both with the MN reference but probably Camu with the "King of Hearts to carrying jackals" line
Memories and feelings. Oh life.
this seems like a marriage made in heaven
This song is on Kimya's album, Thunder Thighs, which, just to let you know, is amazing.
Kimya's music is so intimate
One year ago, today, this show happened.
Just made a grown man tear up dam good song real hip hop
i wanna get a kimya dawson tatto either a worn out shoe w “walk like thunder” written by it or the speech bubble off the “remember that i love you” album cover
You were at that show too?! Soooooo good!
Ace is just the best rapper to ever date. IMPO... Or is it my opinion? ;)
Dammit. I was trying REALLY hard to not cry listening to this. I'm in a room full of people. But seconds into Aesop's final verse and he broke me.
holy shit... powerful.
Aes, swaying. Sweet guy.
Raw...Fucking...Talent
FUCKING BEAUTIFUL!
yeah i looked up the lyrics after a bit. love kimya
