- In this video I talk about Azur and his rise to the rank of Grandmaster within Raya Lucaria and the abominations he created.
---------------------------------
Good video, but there's a lot more you can cover. Sellen tells us that Glintstone sorcery is the study of the life found within the Glintstones themselves. Lusat's magic differs from Azur in the type of celestial bodies they are communing with. Comets appear to exist organically in space in the current we see when we open azur's comet. Lusat's come from meteors from a destroyed star. A meteor differs from a comet in that a meteor has entered/collides with the atmosphere or surface of another celestial body (in this case, the lands between). This, imo, explains why the green spells tend to be more abstract than the blue ones which have a more firm connection with the human world. I think you can also expand what you mean when you talk about the 'abyss' too. The abyss is not empty, it stares back. What it is not unknowable, but rather exceeds our understanding. This means parts of it can be interpreted but we can never grasp the whole. This allows us to get a better understanding of what it is they see. Lusat, for example, sees the death of a star cluster which, if we take the statement about Glintstone being life seriously, is more death than any sane person could withstand. It becomes more reasonable that they would need to swap out their brains in order to consider these concepts without going mad.
I’d just like to say … perfect music for the grandmasters
Something I’ve always wondered about magic schools: why study magic in the first place? Sure maybe I can learn to shoot stars at people or transform into a ball of heads, but how am I supposed to get a job after graduating?
Become a teacher, become a military sorcerer, hitman, engineer (I assume sorcerers study physics and such), an inventor etc
With all that knowledge you can do whatever you want
If you have the capacity to learn and perform magic, but don’t have the capacity to figure out how to make money with your skills, something’s wrong.
The grand nerds with minds that are so brilliant that many in the Academy envy them but their bodies were so feeble that they would never be taken seriously by other sorcerers. So they did the most unholy thing imaginable by seeking strength from the primevil current so they can transcend their feeble flesh so they can become star Jesus.😺
Two dudes who look like rocky candy
Total chads
In my view, originally there was this "Great Star Cluster" (possibly a hive mind forming a collective Outer God), and was worshipped/studied by the astrologers in the Mountaintops of the Giants.
This is the Primeval Current, all forms of glintstone magic united into one single form. Then, this Great Star Cluster "dies" (better to say disgregates), and all the stars which were once part of it scatter in space in centrifuge motion. Different typologies of glintstone emerge (e.g comet glintstone, meteor glintstone,...).
The original place where the Great Star Cluster once stood is now the lightless Void.
So, both Lusat and Azur glimpse into the Primeval Current. Lusat glimpses into the final moments of the Great Star Cluster, while Azur glimpses into the the lightless Void.
Azur then teaches Rennala the primeval sorcery "Comet Azur".
Although, since the Academy has already seen what happens to those who glimpse into the Primeval Current (see: Graven Mass Talisman), both Azur and Lusat were banished so that they couldn't spread the knowledge of the Primeval Current any further.
This was quite relaxing
Couldn’t have been too long ago since both Primeval sorcerers, as well as Rennala - were all Astrologers in their younger days
