The Charlie Parr & Spider John Interview Pt. 1 | SPIDER JOHN'S LEGACY SERIES

- Charlie and John talk about guitars that were stolen, returned, modified and gifted.
Charlie Parr has always spoken very freely about his influences, and one if his living mentors, Spider John, just gifted him his guitar. Charlie asked if I would help him document this, and it has turned into a 4-part series that goes deep into the story of this guitar, as well as what John calls his "so-called career" as a folksinger.

Thanks for doing this series! Awesome work and even more important now that Spider John has passed on.
Appreciate you taking the time to check it out. Yes, feels big now for sure.
Saw Spider John at Les Cousins in the late 60s.
so looking forward to more of these, excellent series, thankyou ✊🙏
Absolutely! Putting the next one out Christmas morning!
So so cool. Can’t wait for the next ones!
It only gets better! Thanks for watching Aidan!
These are great. Cheers Kyle 👍🏻
Sweet! Grateful to get to be apart of something like this.
Great interview! Much love from West-Central Minnesota.
Thanks! Such a privilege to take part in!
I was most fortunate to have seen Spider John live at Le Hibou folk music club in Montreal Canada, I think in the 80s. With his band. A great blues artist!
Ah, that must have been amazing!!

I was/am a blues guitar player, and tried to learn his songs, but his guitar style was so unique that I could only appreciate his playing. Also, his vocals were incredible.
@@jimji5116 I’ve tried too! Charlie says it best, his rhythm is like trying to figure out the sound of a rug when you put it on the spin cycle. 😂
Thank you so much for making this.
Ah, thanks bud. Might be the highlight project of my life thus far, glad ya dig it!
Spider John, along with Koerner Ray & Glover, the Front Porch Swinging' Liquor Pigs, and Willie Murphy & the Bees performed at First Avenue in January 2002: ruclips.net/video/9SINeNlGy6g/видео.html
Legends!
Absolutely!
@@kostringworks not into podcasts, but if you get Charlie Parr to sit down and talk about his influences, his style, his way of playing, his creative process....I'm tuning in all day/all night. Maybe a nice winter project?
@@clevelandthomsen7042 we definitely have more projects on the horizon! I think we’re getting him used to this RUclips! Thanks for the suggestions!
@@kostringworks I'll keep my eyes peeled! 🤞🤞🤞
Charlie and Spider John look like they are relatives! More like Uncle John.
Great story.. the spelling of the Gresthr would definitely niggle me 😬
Ha! Yeah pretty goofy that got off the factory line like that!
Enjoy that GreTsrH...(eer?). A great treasure to receive from Friend (influence). Cheers!
Yes, such a special guitar and story! Thanks for watching!
