- Minutes after a routine domestic flight from Jakarta, Indonesia to Pangkal Pinang, the pilots on-board Lion Air Flight 610 struggle to keep the new Boeing 737 Max nose from pitching down. They soon alert air traffic control of an emergency after encountering difficulties in finding the source of the problem. On the ground, the controller allows the pilots to fly at any altitude they choose, but things quickly turn for the worst when the plane nosedives and begins speeding towards the sea, leaving the pilots without options. Indonesian investigators must now determine why a Boeing 737 Max 8, one of the best-selling new airplanes on the market, plunged into the Java Sea.
Find out what really happened to the now grounded Boeing 737 Max 8 on Air Crash Investigation season 20, starting 5th April at 9pm on National Geographic📺

The pilot of this aircraft, Captain Bhavya Suneja was my classmate and a dear friend. Lost him to such a tragic accident. May his soul rest in peace! 💐

Deep condolences for you 🙏🙏🙏
Oh sorry man I’m really sorry hope he will Rest In Peace.it’s just the MAX was a bad stats aircraft

The copilot on flight 610 is harvino
My brother was involved in this accident, before I drove him to airport he told me that he wanted to pray together with me in a nearby Mosque. So i follow his instruction and i pray together with him at Airport Mosque. After that i drop him at airport terminal and he say goodbye to me. At least you have done a good thing together with him that you can always remember. I hope he is in the better place for now and later

And Boeing had the audacity to put the blame on the pilots
The pilots were not at fault but they weren’t blameless either
@@Karma2Babylon They probably have about 20% of the blame. They really could have turned the entire system off, but they didn't. That's not on them, though, that's on Lion Air for not providing the proper training. RIP to all on board
@@Karma2Babylon When the investigation result were came up, every 737 pilots were enraged because boeing did not told them about the mcas sensor. Had that fatal crash due to faulty sensor happened above the busy cities like Jakarta, New York, Singapore, or even Mexico City the result would be very catastrophic for both passengers and the people on the ground.
@@zeinmets3550 The crew that flew it hours before figured it out; lucky for them they had a captain in the jump seat who had to tell the Pm and Pf to do the cut out, and he didn’t know about the mcas, he just recognised what was happening, the other 2 didn’t know.
Amazing thing about that, they carried on and flew the entire 90min flight with the stick shaker activated the ENTIRE flight with passengers. And didn’t even log it, they said they verbalised to maintenance but who knows what they said, how they said it or how anything was interpreted. That’s incredible.
And that’s before we even get to the fact lion air had that brand new plane flying for 3 weeks with a known problem, and when they did finally do a fix besides just popping and resetting circuit breakers, they short-cut the process by replacing the alpha vane with a 2nd hand vane that had a known problem.
I read the Knkt report and imo, not enough talk about the factors that materially contributed to the crash.
No doubt, Boeing has much to answer for but this wasn’t all on them.
@@zeinmets3550what ? So u think it's the airlines fault ? Read before commenting !!!. Boeing mock and calling the animal when the airlines want to train their pilot for 737 max. They said what training? (Animal)

For me... This is the most highlighted in ACI season 21...
I agree, there seems to be a trend these past seasons on showing lesser known crashes. The most highlighted crash in s19 is LaMia 2933, s20 is PIA268, and s21 is Lion Air 610. The rest of the episodes are lesser known crashes, take s21 episodes for example, they are all not-so-popular crashes. Loganair 6780, Execuflight 1526, Comair 5191, Southwest Airlines 1380, US-Bangla 211, 1991 USAF Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker Incident, ANZ 703, Propair 420, and UPS 1354 are some crashes that are not so known internationally. its so sad that the total compensation that these people got is still less than that of boeing ceo when he was ousted
What's even more sad is that Tom Girardi, one of the attorneys on their compensation case, seems to have embezzled all of it and the families have received nothing.
Y’know what’s worse? They ruled that no Boeing CEOs can be prosecuted. Then the very same prosecutor that was fighting Boeing ends up being hired by a law firm that Boeing hired.
Trials were fixed from the start, and the executives will never get prosecuted, but they ended up richer.

They're not victims, they're heroes. Because of them many lifes saved. It proved us that boeing 737 max 8 should be renewed, and it is now safety for us. For capt suneja and co pilot harvino who never been founded you did the best, rest in peace for all 125 people and 64 people who never been founded. To lion air and boeing they are sentence and they learned that tragedy of lion air jt 610 is lesson for us to be aware of training of pilot and plane device system which mcas.
what was the issue
@@randomrazr Faulty censors for the MCAS system on the plane
@@randomrazr the boeing max series was flawed with design issues, most notably the engine placement, since the max airframe design is the same as the older 737s, it was not designed to fit bigger engines because it will be too low from the ground that it sucks runway debris etc, but boeing came up with a solution, they insisted to put the bigger engines but the engines are now put in a slight upward pitch which would make the plane pitches up on power, boeing engineered a software to prevent the plane from pitching up (by manipulating the trim level) but as weve seen from both accidents, the sensors that feeds data to this software is faulty and tells the plane (software) that it is in another state than it is in reality, which causes the software controlled autotrim to act rogue by putting the trim level in some dangerous state and makes the pilots have no controls over the elevators.
@@indomieforlife so boeing cheaped out and instead of designing an entirely new aircraft, they just slapped on bigger engines to an older design and a software patch to compensate for the design change. DAM. if the pilots known about this, could this system be turned off or were they fucked the minute they took off?
@@randomrazr exactly, prior to the accidents, boeing told the airlines and pilots that the max series flies the same as older 737s, they gave them the same manuals etc without telling them anything about this new system. later on after the accidents, they actually put about the mcas (this particular system) in the manuals, but it was too late and the max series had already met their faith in the airlines eyes. no one was flying the max series anymore after those accidents for some times. so no pilots have ever figured out how in real flight I guess..
I thought about my friend who lives in Central Java who was riding the Lion Jt 610 plane that crashed in the Java Sea waters, at that time I didn't believe it but after I checked on Facebook, it turned out that the volunteers found my friend's necklace, I was very surprised, let's pray for them so that peace #RIP

And Boeing had the audacity to blame the pilots and the airlines to save face and a few billion dollars.
Disasters don't just happen. They are a chain of critical events. Hard as this may be for you to understand they do bear a share of blame. Before this there were quite a few MAXs serving with airlines throughout the world including the US and Europe. How come those American and European aircraft never crashed? After all, the MAX was(IS) such a dangerous aircraft.
@@Inspadave ya i think its depend on the skill of pilots 👨🏻✈️
@@Inspadave that's a nice seconds from disaster reference
Saw the episode. There were too many lapses. First the angle of attack indicator fixed a couple of days ago was not calibrated but maintenance logs showed it was. Second, the same problem happened in the previous flight of the aircraft, and the previous pilots were able to overcome the problem by cutting off automatic trim but didn't mention that in the log for the next pilots to be seen. That was a critical error. When the same problem appeared in this flight, the first officer took too long to read and find stuff in the flight manual so the captain gave him control and took the flight manual himself. The first officer had poor manual flying skills and couldn't think about cutting the trim and crashed it. Boeing said it had expected an "average pilot" to have worked out the problem themselves within 3 seconds and cut off the trim. But the problem here was that the first officer was "below average" (as shown in this episode). Any of the chain of events happened differently including Boeing just mentioning how to shut off MCAS to the pilots, and the problem would have been solved.

The fact that the official investigation reported terms such as "cost cutting engineering" and "corporate arrogance" is astounding. Boing were criminally charged with a 2.5 billon dollar fine. But the Federal Government should have intervened and removed it's directors. What an absolutely disgusting company to behave like this. This was one of two incidents as another of the same aircraft crashed for similar reasons resulting in over 600 deaths.
