I think FS’s Vincent is one of UK comedy’s treasures like 4 candles, dead parrot, Stewart Lee’s Braveheart. FS died in controversy, poverty and shame. But Vincent remains outside of all that. And I love these ‘Americans react to ….’ channels for another occasion to watch stuff like this. British comedy is a long unbroken line of the evolution of some incredibly daring ideas that have been a staple of British culture.

He was 1 in a MILLION, gave the British people a LOT of laughs and entertainment over the years, a ONE-MAN entertainment package! He had it all..... The comedy, the look, the voice and the personality! Unfortunately, the BRITISH media over here have a reputation for ruining the best that we have, and that is what killed Freddie Starr! (started with the SUN Newspaper years ago!) But, that is a different story altogether! I just like to remember the man for what he was, and that was a pure LEGEND!!!

He came out of the same 'school' of music as the Beatles. He was lead singer in one of the big Merseybeat bands that burst out of Liverpool in the early 60s. I was waiting for the line after 'Starry, Starry Night......Paint Your Bollix Blue & Grey'. So he clearly used different versions. He did the 'Bollix' line live on UK tv and they started avoiding him after that. His 'Elvis' was just sooo accurate, it was unnerving. Plus, he NEVER ate hamsters...He was yet another Scouse with reason to despise Murdock and The Sun. RIP La!

What a shame he is no longer with us to give us some laughter in this mad dangerous world we're now living in! Saw him live many times a versatile talented and somewhat troubled man. He died virtually penniless in spain. A funeral director in my hometown repatriated him to the UK organised his funeral in Liverpool when people realised the situation they donated money to help meet the cost.
There was a TV series called "An Audience With" here in the UK. They selected a celebrity act put them in a studio with other celebreties as the audience and filmed it.
Freddie was one of a small number of people who did two shows a few years apart. The show is about an hour so probably too long to show on RUclips but if you want to see the extent of his talent try watching one of his An Audience with Freddie Starr shows.
He was one of the few acts who came on stage not say or do anything and get the audience laughing!
