I had a customer who hired me to remove orange peel after getting his car resprayed. Came out very nice after wet sanding first with 1500 grit followed by 3000 grit then compounded and polished. This is a great way to make good money if anyone gets a similar job.
Good video but I'd add you want to start with the least aggressive method and try that first. I'd probably start with a polish that has minimal cutting ability and move to something more aggressive if that did not work. If you get to where you need to wet sand it would be best to measure the clearcoat thickness (depth) before you start. Just realize that if you cut through the clearcoat, you're probably going to have to repaint the area (or the entire car). I've used 3000 grit before, then polished it out just to see if that did the job but I used sandpaper as the last resort. Just be careful or you may ruin the paint. Chemical Guys has all the stuff you need. Make the primary goal: do no harm.

any thoughts on wet sanding a factory black 2015 chrysler 300s with a DA and 3000 grit to polish it out with a lite compound like v 34 and work my way up to black light then maybe jet seal. or is the factory clear to thin for than.. i dont have a Mill gauge..
I want to see you actually repair the orange peel show me what grits I need to sand it with show me what products I need to buff it and wax and polish it with I'm learning this I'm a student I need help
But at the same time - many manufacturers assure that there is orange peel on their cars. The peaks of the orange peel will make the clear coat somewhat more resistant to scratches and swirls. So there is an advantage with the orange peel as well :)

Wow, nobody on any video said that orange peel is not a chemical or any extract. It is just an effect of the paint looking like an orange peel. I had to figure this out the real hard way. It's like pulling teeth to get some information on the net.
To store your Clay Block, we recommend that once you're done using it, to rinse it with clean water and let it air dry before placing it into a plastic container or back into it's original packaging with the sheet placed onto the side with the synthetic clay. Also, make sure to keep them in an area that's room temperature and away from heat.
It’s comming like that from the factory because the factory does not care they just want to keep pushing cars out the door. Orange peel doesn’t necessarily mean the paint is not right it just does not look the way it should. But to a car factory that only cares about quantity not quality it’s fine to them
josh meixell that’s the saddest part. I noticed orange peel on a brand new quattroporte my boss bought.... yeah on a versa, ok I don’t expect much, but 180k car you expect it to be perfect.... really sad.
We recommend using a light cutting polish such as V36 with an Orange Hex-Logic Pad to refine the surface to remove medium orange peel. If need be, try using a more aggressive approach such as V34 Hybrid Compound and an Orange Hex-Logic Cutting Pad. Happy Detailing!
Hi I have a question and really could use the help. I painted my car recently. I think I did overall a good job but can see orange peel around the whole vehicle. I washed it and the car looked like glass but then when it dried it turned back to orange peel. Any thoughts on how I could fix this? Thank you

Would love to see some wet sanding videos and steps to remove bad orange peel and the process
Hey Daniel! Great suggestion, happy detailing!!
What if you have orange peel on base coat and clear has not been sprayed yet? Should it be sanded before clear coat?
No, better to sand it off and paint again.

Could you make a few videos of just washing a car? like on Fridays and use good music to go with the wash? maybe some customer cars...

Hello, I was wondering how come glazes can't fill in the orange peel? Is it too "big" for the filler to fill it in?
10 micron ceramic applied by roll and tip

Brah, just say “theres a million and one reasons why you can get orange peel”. And move to how to fix it. Come on dog 🐕. ✌️
Lol, no. Because it's helpful to know the things you did wrong that caused the OP in the first place before moving on to how to fix it.
@@brit9485 *Okay, to each there own. By the way, is that pick really you? ❤
@johndoe3485 that is really me, that's what I said earlier.

Soft do one on how to determine whether paint is soft or hard
Great idea! We'll make sure to add it to the list! 😉 Happy Detailing!
How do we store our clay blocks? I had some and after a while they got stuck to the inside of the bag and I had to throw them out

all of that makes total sense. doesn't make sense how come cars are coming from the FACTORY with orange peel.....

Daily Driven Tech it’s no longer about quality anymore.
For light to medium orange peel, what grit should you start with and how do you know you've gone deep enough to remove it?
We recommend using a light cutting polish such as V36 with an Orange Hex-Logic Pad to refine the surface to remove medium orange peel. If need be, try using a more aggressive approach such as V34 Hybrid Compound and an Orange Hex-Logic Cutting Pad. Happy Detailing!
Love these great videos very informational thanks ya'll

Hey! Color sanding is necessary to refine the orange peel and reveal a smooth finish which would then be compounded and polished to perfection.
He is definately sniffing alot for some reason. I'm guessing it's snowing in California
y so much hate
Super helpful, thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
