Fun fact: Citanes is a slight name fiddle of Gitanes which is a French cigarette brand. A rare thing on something intended (in it's G1 iteration) for children.
I actually have the Transform Element version and am very happy with it. The prime they made at least in my opnion is one of the best on the market.

FREAKING GEEK!!!! Have you noticed (at least on my end), how the painted die-cast "appears" to match his arms and legs. In my opinion anyway, his chest (body) matches greatly. Anyhoo still an awesome review, keep up the great work.
Yes. The colour mismatch, altho counterintuitive, is actually accurate to the cartoon. Now whether that's a good thing is up to subjective preference
The issue with the gap mentioned at 16:38 also happens on my copy. I think this was a small oversight. I had the missile removed and the gap still showed I believe.
The off-color white on the diecast chest is just a reference to the yellowing chest on the G1 toy. Yeah, that's it! See, I saved it.
I wish they'd done what they did with RP Soundwave and given optional G1 toy style head/attachment parts, I want that to be A Thing that 3P and Hastak themselves do for MP level figures.

The only FT that didn’t come with the QC sticker and the folding bar on the leg was installed backwards. Thankfully I was able to fix it before breaking it by accident trying to convert. Clean figure all around. Also have that cockpit gap issue, but those tabs in the back are pretty shallow.
I had the spoiler part incorrectly installed on one leg of my Jive. My Phantasm was fine though. I love both figures.
So glad I found this channel...been binge watching a lot lately...just wish I found it sooner maybe I wouldve been able to get certain transformers
Don't give up! They reissue and update the older ones all the time, and there's a lot of different stores out there, I'd avoid eBay as they scalp like crazy, but, if you have no choice.😂 Anyway, patience pays off in Transformer collecting. Rushing to buy an expensive figure, only for a slightly cheaper, and better version, to appear a month later happens all the time. Research pays off. Good luck out there. 👍

On the fence about replacing my transform element mirage with this one. I just got the fanstoys jazz which looks fantastic although the transformation is a bit of a pain.
Ssme. Both Jive and Phantasm seem like just incremental improvements.
I got both Jive and Phantasm, and yeah I find the Jive transformation a bit of a needlessly complicated nightmare. Also one of my Jive’s legs was misassembled out of the box. Thankfully I was able to fix it by taking apart and re-assembling the leg. But while both Jive and Phantasm look incredible in both modes (IMO), the issues I had with Jive put Phantasm in top place for me.
Agreed. A little disappointing after how great huffer/rig was.
Now this is worthy of the title "Masterpiece". Just got my Jive the other day and it fits in well with my other MPs, so I'll be looking in to get this guy soon to add to my roster.

Like most Fanstoys this is well done. I just don’t think it’s enough of an improvement over the Transform Element to warrant the extra cost.

Hey Emgo could you review more G1 suff?
Do you still have BadCube's Steamroll? (not masterpiece not Sideswipe) if you do have it, why do you never use him for comparison shots with cartoon accurate mp's?
As a general rule of thumb Emgo always compares with the official version if it exists, even if it is not what he displays
it seems nice but i feel like nothing will ever replace my childhood g1 mirage who snapped in half. not even the replacement i got for it that snapped in half.
Race car mode + mirage head = mario kart
The incorrect colours are my main issue with this. Really took the shine off when I unboxed it. Neither is really white though. One is (an accurate) powder blue, while the other is an (inaccurate) pearlescent grey. No idea what FT was thinking with the latter. Annoying, as they got the shade of blue spot on. Chroming the missile was also dumb (I also scratched mine), especially when the promo shots had it the same colour as the gun, which it is in the toon.
Love the alternate head though, and the silhouette is great. Maybe half a head too short compared to Jive and the mainline MP scale, but not terrible. If not for those colours this would have been a home run. Thanks for another enjoyable review.
Check the character model sheet. Those whites don't match either. Pretty sure that's what Fans Toys was after here.
@@timothymoss5007 Oh I didn't want you to think I was saying it was right or wrong. It's a little distracting to see it on a toy as I mentioned but everyone has their own preferences.

I have this figure and the MMC version as well. I wish that MMC had the same build quality with its current design. The MMC one looks great, but a little too fiddley. The FansToys is built really well, but too bland. Just need to merge the two together and we’d have a perfect figure.

Welp you’re wrong. Porsche finally allowed Takara to have the licensing for Transformers again with the Rise of the Beasts movie. Cliffjumper was already teased which means Jazz can’t be far behind :)

I love the idea of the figure and FT’s take, however the unevenness of the white, and the limited head turn made me pass on this one. I stuck with my TE. I love everything about it except the weak spoiler and the maneuvering of it sliding on the pin.
That said, I have picked up a lot of FT’s items, and normally happy with their product, but felt a bit let down by this one. But Outrider, and Jive are my recent acquisitions. Looking forward to Parkour and Bandit.

They had irl accurate car modes, but very inaccurate bot modes because of blockforming 🙂

Hey Emgo, 2:10 Mirage's chest isn't actually the same colour as those light-bluish parts on the sides of his torso, that's actually accurate to his cartoon character model, not a flaw of the painted diecast. Only his arms, chest, thighs and the striping for his vehicle mode are white, the other parts that aren't blue or black are like a bluish-grey colour on his character model to simulate the chrome parts of the G1 toy. These bluish-grey parts also often look purplish-blue in the cartoon, just due to degraded masters and such used for the home media releases.
If you ever want to see what these colours looked like in their prime on the original character models, before all of the degrading and aging, there's a guy who goes by "DM" on The Allspark forums who has done a ton of research into this stuff to make the most 100% accurate G1 models you can find on the internet. Someone from the Dragon Ball fandom also purchased original Toei colour chips (these were used as a reference to match up paint colours as they were mixed when the animators were painting animation cels) and scanned and digitized the colours, giving us a little over half of Toei Animation & Marvel Productions' paint colours used in the 80s and 90s. This was one of the many sources DM had used to recreate these models accurately.
Yeah, and they're meant to be white (like the TE, MMC etc), but they aren't white on Phantasm. They're the same kind of pearlescent grey used on Acoustic Wave. They should be the same colour as the Citanes livery. How do you get such an iconic colour scheme wrong?
