During my year in China, I would walk through a nice little park every morning on the way to the subway, and every morning you could hear/see the same little old Chinese lady standing on the bridge, calling out from the bottom of her lungs. Hard to believe such a tiny old lady could make such a powerful sound, she must've had years of practice! With her voice piercing the misty morning air and the sky lit up with the rising red sun, it felt like I was in the opening shot of the Lion King!

In Korea you can see the elders walking backwards and hitting themselves everywhere too haha if you go up in the mountains you can see many of them hitting themselves against trees too! xD

I strongly recommend walking and running backwards *uphill and up slopes* without shoes but with two pairs of socks. Sprint, walk, jog up and down the steepest bit of road/pavement you can find locally. Interrupt with some press-ups and rubber-band upper body stuff. I like to hook bicycle inner tubes around metal poles or lamp-posts etc - pull and tug hard various ways circa 20 reps..then back to retro-running up the hill/slope. It gives a far more intensive, faster run+workout than just going for a fartlek jog around the neighbourhood.
PS. bicycle inner-tubes of various widths and lengths last far longer than exercise bands.

I was on an early morning walk the other day and some old dude started screaming at the top of his lungs over the side of the bridge. I thought he was going to jump. He just kept walking and screaming over the side every so often. Know I know why - thanks. =)

I started walking backwards because I read that 100 steps backwards equals to 1000 steps forward but I however don’t believe it because I don’t feel like I’ve burned anything when I walk 1000 steps backwards (equalling 10,000 steps forward) compared to the times I’ve walked 10,000 steps total.

Makes perfect sense! Especially for balance and developing awareness as you age. No mention of bumpy sidewalks? Especially in really ancient cities (Xi'an)? Sidewalks where there are pebbles deliberately incorporated into the cement? Walk barefoot or with cloth sandals and your feet are exercised as you walk... Thet got it all figured out, these Chinese...!

Noemi Tomaz the hot water tip is widespread across many cultures and they still follow it. As someone who suffered from stomach issues, I know that cold water slows digestion. Thats why hot soup is recommended by convential medical doctors too during such illness. The beating of thighs is replicates the vibrations given by a TENS unit. You will only feel any difference if you're in great pain like an old person or someone who has sciatica or similar issues and is young. A pair of young healthy people mocking these methods because of age bias towards elders is definitely juvenile to me.
