The eel is probably my favorite cobra character of all time. I remember when I found my first one in KB toys on a field trip. I had five dollars to buy myself a souvenir from the field trip. Can’t for the life of me remember what the field trip was, but I remember seeing this figure for the first time vividly. I bought two.
Fantastic review! the Eel has been one of my absolute favorite Cobra troops since I got one as a surprise from my mom one rainy day after getting home from preschool. There's definitely something very visually satisfying about the color scheme of the Eels too. I really hope we get a Classified Eel someday soon.

Up until hurricane Katrina, my brother and I had developed almost the entire collection of G.I. Joe from 84 to 1990. That included the USS flag, and the terror drome. Katrina decided that my collection would be better displayed over a six block radius around my moms demolished house. These reviews are bitter sweet, and the closest I have Do reliving my childhood

In my opinion this is the best cobra figure in the entire line. Realistic, awesome accessories and anchors the cobra navy. Heck you could even pop him into a cobra jet and he wouldn't look out of place
Amazing l had one "naked" that I bought to an old Man in a little Candy store when l was about 8 yo. He had a bunch in display for 2 pesos (equal to 2 dollars back then). Best toy l ever had
Always liked the Vipers and Eels they had great looks
I never had one as a kid, since we only started getting the figures in our house here in Australia in '87. But I used to see the Eels in comics and catalogues and I wondered how I could get one. More than 30 years later and I finally picked one up; I was not disappointed. Just about the greatest figure ever released, Joe or Cobra, in the ARAH line, in my opinion.
This was my absolute favorite character from the time it came out until now.
What's not to like about Eels? They are classic cobra aquatic troops, beautifully sculpted and had several comics to my enjoymemt, that had Eels as characters. They are also a great army builders and go perfectly with Hydro Vipers and Undertows.
I remember getting the Eels right after having my tonsils removed. I didn't even know the line of 1985 figures was out so he was a complete surprise! I still have him and he is amazingly complete with no broken parts. Definitely one of my top tier figures!
I had my EELS trooper from the late 80's till about 95. I have another EELS coming in too.
I need to get a couple more of these guys, I think.

They made a brief appearance in gi joe yearbook no. 2 with firefly, they set explosive charges and blow the train trestle or whatever it's called. Lol eels are dangerous I had one back in 85. Definitely one of my favorite figures for cobra, excellent troop builder . I have 4. 😎😎😎 COBRA!!

Diver figures are almost always cool.
The thing about the EELS is most of your vipers and other troopers all had EELS training from the standard viper all the way to the Vipers driving the ships of the Cobra Navy. Even the TeleViper and Snow Viper are EELS trained.
Cobra Eeels were good troop builders.
The yellow/blue eel was the only underwater cobra agent I had as a kid. I didn't like the colors but I liked the style and had to have someone for wet-suit to fight
I was today years old when i found out the "jet-pack" was removable!!!!!!!

I'm weird, I always liked the Snow Serpent more. However, in story we wouldn't have them without EELS. Despite my fondness for the Serpents, I do agree the EELS are top tier figures in any list. Great review and great job by everyone on CC2!

The figure is excellent. Too bad they used bright colors on the second version. It's a nice mold.
I don't know when I will get to reviewing EELS v2. It's going to be interesting. That robot shark... that's pretty crazy. And it shoots a missile!
Yeah I never thought this was a mass unit like the troopers or vipers, always thought it was just one guy code-named "Eels".

The cobra eels and hydro vipers will always have a special spot in my heart. They were some of the first cobra figures I owned. Also, the over all design of the cobra eel is so well done. The eels to me, were always the elite of cobra. They're some of the few cobra troopers who have and can cause serious havoc. Great review bud! Really enjoyed this!

We keep the same taste and feeling for the Cobra EELS. I kept the figure since I was a child in perfect condition, except that I lost my respirator.
The chest has developed from so much swimming and that is very good, although it is true that is a little exaggerated.

I had this Figure and I loved him the one thing I hated though was the face mask part that plugged into the backpack ..mine snapped at the plug other than that I played with this guy alot
