Nice tutorial! In case of Kontakt, you could also load all wood winds etc into one "rack" of Kontakt, that way you can have way fewer instances of Kontakt. Not sure if that makes a difference for ram/cpu performance and if that is possible with E/W
not to be a hater or anything, but the way he set it up is very wrong, because he ends up opening thousands of instances of VSTs, whereas if you have like Kontakt, you can have multiple patches in 1 instance and still have them linked to brso articulate. Check out Alex Moukala Tutorials channels for more info, he has the best stuff on FL Studio orchestra
Eric thank you so much for the tutorial. I am just having issue with the mode wheel of my keyboard. Im not being able to the modewheel to BRSO articulate, so I cant do any dinamics.
Hi Danilo, if you want it to work with your mod wheel just right click the knob you want to control on BRSO and select “link to controller”. Afterwards just move your mod wheel and FL studio should detect and link them
Help : when i setup bsro articulate, i'm able to play notes from the piano roll and see the articulation names with the different colors, but changing colors doesn't change articulations. I really have no clue right now ...
Hi Loh, did you check if the port number on BRSO (bottom right) matches with the port number of the VST (Settings -> Midi section)? Hopefully that helps!
Thanks for creating this vid - it’s super helpful! Question: how do you deal with track delay? If I sketch a melody using a piano patch, for example, and then replace it with a brass one, the melody is no longer in sync with the metronome.
Glad it helped! Hmm I haven't dealt with track delay and when I transfer a melody it stays in sync with the metronome. Are the notes in your piano roll quantized? Also, what piano and brass libraries are you using?
Hi. So I know I'm a bit late on asking this. But I'd please like to clarify something. When you dock your wet signal(reverb) which is only routed to the dry signal(and the dry signal is routed to the master), to the left, When you route your instruments to the reverb channel, do you route only to the reverb channel or do you route your instrument to the reverb and the master channel? I'd please appreciate. Thanks
Hi DP music, I route my instruments (by section) to a reverb mixer track and a dry mixer track. This gives you more control in changing the wet and dry levels for each section (woodwinds, brass, percussion, and strings). If I routed each section to the master track in addition to their own reverb tracks, the only way I would be able to adjust the dry levels would be to adjust the original tracks but that would also affect the reverb output (less volume in the original = less volume in reverb and master). Anyways, I hope that helps!
@@erichuangcomposer7126 I see. So if I'm correct by what your saying, when you create each section(strings reverb and stringsdry dock to the left,, you detach the reverb from the master and connect it to the dry signal, while the dry signal is routed to the master. Then you 'route to this track only', each section of your strings to the reverb alone. Please is this correct by the how you do it?
maybe a strange question. but isn't it easier to do the instrument s in just 1 play vst per instrument instead of what you do? Like all strings in just 1 play vst all Brass in anather?
Hi Tim, thanks for your question. In the past, I have consolidated all strings in one vst and all brass in one vst but that was mostly for sketching purposes. When orchestrating, I prefer to separate them out. This is because this template is modeled after an orchestral score so when I export the track as a midi file, it matches up with the orchestral score in a notation software (I use MuseScore). I hope that helps!
@@erichuangcomposer7126 There's also the issue of RAM, isn't there? You obviously have a lot, because each instance of Play gobbles up like 2GB of ram, so using as many instruments/articulations within the same VST should help with that.
I think the major trick here is to use PLAY's settings (or rather the FL's own, where you set up the port) and go to the "Processing" tab and have PLAY assign it's internal channels to the mixer tracks. Then you'd have each instrument assigned to the mixer - what you've now done using individual Play instances. I think this should also work when you export MIDI.
@@DarqIce Thanks for your comment. I don't think there's too big of an issue with RAM. Usually, my templates (completely using PLAY) uses from 18GB - 24GB of RAM. In the template you see in this video, I have 29 instances of PLAY. (At 7:19 you can see that before I added reverb busses, there were 29 mixer tracks). If each instance of PLAY used around 2GB of RAM, then this template would use around 58GB of RAM. This template definitely did not use 58GB of RAM and I’ve had more complicated templates with more instances of PLAY that at most only reached around 40GB of RAM. There are other factors that determine how much RAM is used rather than a set amount of RAM for each instance of PLAY. One of which is the articulation type. An example is that violin staccato samples take up much less RAM than the violin legato samples. Another factor in the amount of RAM used includes the number of mics/instruments you have loaded. The more mics/instruments loaded, the more RAM is used. So to sum up, each instance of PLAY doesn't use around 2GB of RAM, it really depends on what you are loading in each instance. If you are having lagging issues with FL Studio, another tip is to reduce the PPQ value. The default is 96 and if you turn it down to 24, it should help with the lagging. I hope that helps and thanks for sharing your tip in your second comment!

Great video, I was looking for something like this. Do you use one play/opus instance per instrument?
But we have only 125 tracks....how would we eq more than 150 patches
Hi Scores by MJ, unfortunately that's a drawback of the FL studio mixer tracks. It would definitely be awesome if they had more

So you are loading the play VST (which is now Opus) for every instrument? Does that use up a lot of memory?
