Awwwwwww Bogie wrestling the pen is the cutest thing! 😍 ..could it be the colour looking so similar to his own that's freaking him out? Wintery greetings from Berlin ✌️😊
@@flocklife let me know when (if you like) so we can go bird watching together! 😍 there are some nature reserves here in the east and on various islands (Rügen is my favourite).
It's a cute backpack! There's no way I can get it though, Cheeky obsessively chews harnesses the whole time she's outside so she'd definitely do the same thing with the backpack. Omg yes, Cheeky HATES her harness because we thought forcing her into it would be ok because she would love the outdoors, then forgive us. NOPE, now I can't train her into her harness, don't be stupid like me people. She remembers... 🥺😬🙃
i appreciate the thoroughness of your review, it helps!! my concern is that my friend has the same backpack that you like, and we put a thermometer in it outside for 20 minutes. it was 68°F outside and 88°F inside the carrier, with low sun in the late afternoon. i haven't bought one yet for hiking since that worries me.
I know what the manufacturers need to do. The outside of the backpack needs to be white. White will reflect the heat, not absorb it like the dark gray color. So the inside will remain cooler for the parrot.
ruclips.net/video/Kuo5FbLvCIo/видео.html you can watch this video, he talks about the portable air cooler which you can place inside to keep it cooler. I'm planning to buy one but still not sure, I just watched the video.
I sprung for a Celltei small Pak O Bird. I take my green cheek out to free fly as well, but have been wanting to check out some more local parks and take him out on bicycle rides. My main concern is off gassing/fumes when other vinyl backpacks get hot and ventilation. I can't risk getting him overheated, or breathing in plastic fumes in an enclosed environment. While the bag was really out of my budget- I justified it for piece of mind regarding his health.
I have a 30 Year old male sulfur crested cockatoo. He is my life. He is not trained to fly outside and has never been outside He is not trained to fly outside and has never been outside. I want to take a walk with him in the park. What would you suggest for a bird that size ? the back pack must have Great all around visibility. I was looking at that backpack that looks like a bubble ,you said had a plastic smell to it can you take soap and water and wash it down to get that smell out ?
Stow the Amazon backpack in a closet or away from the bird. My galah loves to pick off the shiny rivet buttons. And of course, she loves to separate the zippers when she is outside. If you want a fairly hardy backpack look up Celltei.
I have exactly the same back pack for my Conure! I devised a way to hang a shreddable toy up in the opposite corner to the food bowl, although she’s not a chew or the back pack but it’s a little extra fun. Also if your bird is trained it has a bottle holder place on the side, which I’ve never used lol 😊
“Just cause your birds clipped, which I highhhhlllyyy highhhlyyy recomend” Held my breath 😂 sounded like you were recommending it at first. “You let your wings grow out”
Awesome video! Thank you so much for making...and dealing with the return of the other carrier. Ha! I was just doing this same research and was about to buy the 'bubble'. So happy for the info so I can get what I need and go on a hike with my girl Romy (white capped pianos).
Hi!! Just got some questions: 1. Does the perch accidentally rotate? 2. Is there any weird smell/stench with the mesh as I've come across other similar products where ppl have said that there a weird smell and that's not good for our birdies Ty!!
Hi sorry for the late reply! As far as my backpack goes, the perch does not rotate! In terms of bad smell, the bubble backpack had a really funky smell and this backpack does not!
When you said there’s no space for the tail feathers for cockatiels, i laughed because my cockatiel is still learning to fly because she came with clipped wings so she lands on her tail a lot so she has like one long tail feathers left lol
Very nice. Maybe an extra layer of strong mesh or some bird proof material could be used to reinforce the mesh for that second backpack. Also, if you ever do another one of these videos, could you also show us how to clean up after it too. Thanks and love your videos!
I've been shopping on and off for a bird backpack for a few months.. It suddenly dawned on me to pop into RUclips to see if there might be any reviews, and I watched yours and found my answer! I saw this one in Amazon and another kind of like it that is half the price. I'm getting the X-zone for my angel and hopefully he won't hate it. I have a Senegal and want to take him with me on walks and stuff. Boogie is SO adorable! I love galahs and the pen wrestling was hysterical. Thank you so much for the tips.
amazing!! just slowly introduce the backpack to your birdo! put treats around it! I took a few weeks to get bogie desensitized before putting him in there, and now I always put treats in there so he has something to look forward to!
Hiya! First of all, great review! Love that you're so knowledgeable and are able to give Bogie a great life, so I subscribed! The link in the description takes me to a different carrier, do you know where I can find the one in the video please?
I have a question. I saw the first bag on Amazon but I was hesitant about buying it because the holes look kinda big and I’m worried about my budgie being able to escape. Are the holes that big and should I be worried?
No! I wouldn’t worry about holes. I would worry more about the perch size /make sure you create some texture so the budgie doesn’t continuously slip off :)
I would make sure you train your parrot to go into the backpack rather than force your parrot into the backpack. Also would put a favorite toy in there for your parrot to play with. BUT if you try the backpack indoors and your bird is chewing it too much, this can be dangerous and I wouldn't take your bird outside with it.
@@flocklife yeah I agree we are really nervous we accidentally left the door open and he flew out I chased and chased after him and I couldn’t find him after calling the neighbour saw us and then found the bird but yeah he’s always been a chewer he chews every thing
the BEST "birdy backpack" i've seen seems to be the Celltei Pak-O-Bird. the grey backpack seems to be a cheap knockoff of one. it's got mesh on all sides, a fixed perch, food bowls (multiple), different sizes for all kinds of species, from tiny parrotlets right up to full size macaws... or even multiple birds... but it's made of VERY sturdy material; rip-proof non-fray cloth, steel mesh, zippers can't be reached from inside, etc etc. the downside is that obviously it COSTS a lot more as well. also, mine is from a perspective of just shopping for a backpack, not actually using one. i don't have my own bird yet. however, they also have a lot of very positive reviews. anyway, just an idea to consider upgrading to, once bogie has chewed through the cloth mesh xD
With the green backpack, I'd also be concerned because the perch is on a part that moves, and because when it opens, it opens on three sides at once. It doesn't look as if you could let the bird go in and check it out on its own without disturbing it when you close it.
if you're the super-handy type, the green one looks like you could MAKE it into a decent backpack, by moving the perch to the "back" wall, and making the side vents unzippable to reach in for treats and water. but from my shopping around, the green one probably isn't much cheaper anyway, so hardly seems worth it. (edit) oh look, you even have the price listing in your video xD ... it's $60 vs $90... what with all the downsides (eg the sun-roaster bubble, and how much TIME it would take to make useful mods to it) it still doesn't seem worth it for saving $30.
Thank you so much for this review!! I’m in the process of buying a backpack as I would like to go on walks outside with my cockatiel and I don’t just want to take him out in his carrier (since I use it mostly for when I take him to the vet or for grooming and he’s not so happy about that) I’ll take your advice hopefully the one you found out has worked for you is also good for me and my bird. Mine is much smaller than yours but also makes me more afraid of taking him out and stuff. I also have failed to free flight train him and I hope that works out for us in a short run. He’s 7 years old now so I hope it’s not too late for him to learn to fly freely around (had a couple of accidents that scared me and I had to make a rough decision to have his wing feathers clipped, but I want him to give it another chance for him to have the ability to fly to safety if necessary) so much to still learn!!!! But this helps lots!! Thank you!!!
Just bit the bullet and ordered a Celltie Small Pak O Bird. Too paranoid about plastic off gassing during hot days and how that could affect my green cheek with these other btands.
Hi you’re not gonna answer to this but I really need an answer is it okay if I can I have a body but he’s not trained to like free fly and I’m planning of getting a bag like that but I’m not planning to take him out of it when I’m walking so is that alright or
Wish I watched this before I purchased the bubble. You are spot on with your review of the bubble! I found one in pink, darn cute for my Galah. This one did have side holes from top to bottom and a wooden perch which fit side to side attaching through the side holes allowing for tail accommodating height adjustment. I found a toaster oven broiler pan with a grate for droppings to fall below, and it fit the bottom perfect, better than the original tray. While the cuteness of taking my bird out in this carrier delivered, I had to admit the bubble design is not great for the bird enjoyment, and bird enjoyment is what it’s all about so we retired the carrier after only a few uses.
I think the bubble backpack one could be used for winter emergency’s. Like when it’s cold outside and don’t have a car and no one to drive you to a vet, that backpack seems like it would be best to keep the inside a bit warmer without needing a extra heating source.
I’ve been wanting to take my bird out in a backpack! He’s not trained, my fault, and he deserves to be out more. I hike a lot and whenever my husband is home he cannot come out because he attacks him. So he has to stay in his cage until the next day and that’s not fair. I’m hoping this will help spend more time with my baby.
Birds really need 12 hours of sleep every night. Usually humans don't sleep that much so they put their birds in an undisturbed room. I do not have that luxury since we live in a small condo!
