Some important details I didn't address in the video about flying with birds:
- Make sure you get any required paperwork before your flight! Depending on the airline, you may have to take your bird to the vet within a certain window before your trip and get a health certificate.
- Always call ahead to make sure they have space available for pets on the plane! Typically it is one pet carrier per person, but some airlines will allow two birds per carrier. You will have to pay a pet fee per carrier.
- You may have to take your bird out of the carrier briefly during security. Make sure you know how to securely grab/restrain a bird and ask to go to a special room to do this instead of out in the open. I'm so lucky that this time, the TSA staff at the airport were able to check the outside of the carrier without having me remove the birds!
- International travel will be much more complicated with more required paperwork and possible quarantine. (Try to avoid unless you are moving and there is no other option)
- The more stressed you are, the more stressed your bird will be as they pick up on our emotions. Try to remain calm and it will go more smoothly for everyone!
Biggest fan and live in Cambridge! Illinois! I'm so happy you moved ❤

@@BuddyTheBudgie200 hello!
I used to watch you video back in 2020-2021 when I wanted a parakeet dearly, but now that I got a parakeet, my parakeets and I get to watch your videos together ❤
Why did you first got Nemo
My pet bird just died. I don’t know what to do. He passed about 30 minutes ago. He fell and I didn’t even know he was hurting. He passed away in my hands. He has a friend, Kiwi. They can’t live without each other. It’s like they were brothers. I don’t know how he’s going to cope. I’m crying so hard right now. They were with eachother for a year and a half straight without leaving eachother at all. If I’m crying and can barely breathe, I don’t even want to know the pain he is feeling. How to I help Kiwi cope with the loss of his best friend? I go to school so I can’t even spend much time with him. I won’t know if he’s eating or not.
Sorry for your loss its totally understandable❤. If u look down on her videos youll see she had a limilar experiance and she talks about it
God I’m so so sorry for Kiwi’s loss. I had a similar experience with one of my birds abruptly passing away, leaving her best friend behind. I also had to go to school at this time so I understand how you couldn’t spend much time with your bird. In fact I found out she died in class and immediately went to the bathroom to cry. To be honest, I grieved more than the other birds as they were there to comfort each other. That’s something I really appreciate about having a flock, they stick together even when times are tough.
I’m so sorry for you ur bird had a good life I’m just so sorry for what happened
I'm so sorry..I hope its easier for you now, and I hope your bird, Kiwi is doing well without his bestfriend..I can't imagine losing a bird that you have such a strong bond with...Rest in Peace and fly high to your passed bird.❤️🕊️
Sorry for your los❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Congrats Elle! It could be rough moving from your childhood home, but there will be lots of new memories in Florida!
Thank you! It's actually been the best time of my life, I might miss the house eventually but I will never miss not living in Florida 🤣
Hi Elle I wanted to thank you immensely on this wonderful video that you created about preparing birds prior to travel. This was the only proper resource I found online that had this topic and tips explained in so much detail. We flew cross continent with our little lovebirds and we trained them following tips you provided. Thank you and God Bless you and your birbs
I love how calm your birds are and how much they trust you it just makes me want to get a bird
Congrats on the move!! Can’t wait to see the bird room tour🥰🦜
Congratulations on moving. All your videos are so helpful I had gotten my own green cheek awhile back and your videos helped so much!
My green cheek conure used to have one of those cheap carriers and it eventually fell apart due to rust. Luckily he wasn't in the carrier when it did. Now he has a sturdier carrier so whenever we travel it's easier for him to move with us!
(I hope you and the birds took the move well! I can't wait for the new bird room tour!)
Hi Elle, thankyou so much for the tips on how to prepare a bird for travel! I hope you and your birds are enjoying Florida so far!❤
I live in Florida too! Welcome to the Sunshine State!!!😊
Welcome to Florida! ❤ Glad you had safe travels
I enjoyed this video. Excellent training tips to prepare a bird for travel.
Omg elle!!! Long time no see! I'm so happy you are back!
You're a good bird, Mama ❤❤
Congratulations on moving!! Really glad you got to keep your birds :)
Congratulations on the move! And did you end up having to rehome the bunny's?
So sweet 👍👍👍👍
I put the carriers on top of the cage. I left the door open. I came into the bird room to give them their nutriberry and they all went into the carrier on their cage to get the treat.
I love Kermit and ducky just I love all your birds ❤❤ thanks for the info😊
Thanks Elle! 🦜♥
It is a very important video so ur bird can be comfortable along the journey ❤❤ tnx!
I have a question, what if someone in the airport/plane are wearing perfume or spray something like that, what do you do? I'm always afraid to take my bird paces cuz I feel like there could be a toxic air fershener or something.
Thanks for this video I'm going to enjoy carrier training my 2 kakarikis and 2 cockatiels
I only got them 3 weeks ago so once they fully settle in a month or so I hope I'm going to start hand training with the the guidance of ur amazing videos then start carrier training I'm in the uk so probably won't start carrier training until next spring or summer because bird flue outbreaks occur around this time of the year in Cornwall I do have bird experience however so I know a fair bit not enough to be an expert because I study at duchy college one of the best animal based colleges in the UK this will be my third year but I love ur videos they are so educational so thank you for making them
Congrats on the move🎉
You are my favorite RUclipsr and I have the same shirt when you were showing Pearl the yellow carrier!
So happy your back!
The bird queen is back ❤
very well done this video
Welcome to Florida Elle! I think you’ll love it here! I’ve lived here for 30 years on the East Central coast and love it! (The heat and bugs suck though!) lol 😂
Great video, thank you so much
Your videos are so helpful cuz flying with birds are important and I’m getting a budgie in like 2 days I’m sooooo exited and I hope the move was good and I can’t wait for the room tour. I love your videos it will help me so much when I get my budgie
Omg new video i am so happy❤❤
I had one of those plastic bird moving cases and yes, its not permanent, it was just to get the bird to my house, but we did use it to bring the bird outside where it has been living for around 2-3 months. This was a concern to me because I couldn’t bring the bird out, but we found other ways to interact. I’m moving my bird back in very very soon, and I plan to use the plastic cage again. It won’t be a permanent thing; we will most likely get rid of it when we have the cage set up. So excited to start over with my not-so-new (like 8 month old) bird!
I love this video so much. Hope you have fun at college 😊
Thank you!
Hi there, very nice with good info, good luck with college!

Hello Elle, I'm a new subscriber and a new proud owner of a beautiful pearl cockatiel, looking forward to the bonding process. I enjoy watching your videos and learning more about what my experience will be.
Thanks for the videos
Elle I'm glad to hear about traveling with your feather birds... I also traveled to Boston in August with my sweet cocktail with Delta Airlines and used a travel backpack carrier and for some reason they took me to customs area and was asked if I could take her out the carrier? I did so refused being that it was her 1st time out the house and in a carrier, anything could of make her fly off so I took out everything inside the carrier except My bird... They where so serious so they swab & scanned the see through carrier smh. At the end omw I read on the tag "not to remove your pet from the carrier" I'm like don't they know that? Next time I'll have my bird on leash incase 😂🤦🤷
Finally new video
Good idea to make a travel cage video

Hi Elle, I’ve been watching you for a while and just recently got a cinnamon whiteface cockatiel named ivy, she’s the sweetest little thing who really enjoys eating my necklace and pooping on my keyboard, thank you for giving me the knowledge and motivation to get this little stink that I love so dearly ❤
Thank you so much for this video because I’m planning on moving to the UK from the US and I was really worried about the flight because of my cockatiel cause I had no idea all of the stuff you have to do and I did a little research on it but this helped a lot so thank you ❤
Lovely 😍
Thank you for making this video, it is so helpful!! If you can make another video on this topic, it will be great!
college. you go girl. What is your major...ornithology? LOL. Seriously though congrats on being able to go to college and the move to Florida. I hope you and the birds enjoy it.😊
IL I am a very big fan of your videos. I recently got a bird around Christmas time and we’ve been trying very hard to get him to bond with us but it just won’t work. Any tips you can give us to help
Elle, I need to know!!! Where did you get your bird tree stands for outside of the cage?! I want to give my birds the ultimate play room

This was exactly what I was looking for. If you are not moving do you have any suggestions on if theres a temporary cage to have you bird stay in when you reach your vacation destination?
Every nice Elle and Florida is a good place to live in because I go there for vacation but be careful in Florida because they are some hurricanes in Florida but Flordia is a good place to live in but be careful with hurricanes and with the birds and I think the birds might love living in flordia❤❤😄
I’m about to go to Florida in two weeks
THE GODDESSS OF BIRBS HAS DONE A VÍDEO YAY

HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU WERE CAGED YOU LITTLE
Hi Elle, thank you for your very useful videos. And I hope your move went very well. My pineapple conure died suddenly recently, and the necropsy was inconclusive. I know that you lost your beloved bird recently and you know so much about birds. I was wondering, if you would have an opinion, based on your knowledge, as to what could have happened to my conure. The vet that examined my conure and the results from the lab after the necrospy, said that there was nothing wrong with him and that he must have died of aspiration - an accidental intake of water in lungs while having a bath. I really dought this. The bath was less that an inch deep. I was wondering, if I could write to you, briefly describing what happened, would you be able to give your opinion/assumption. Sorry to bother you with this and it's fine if you don't have time for this. It's jsut I know that you love birds and really care about them and you might have an idea. I can't reconcile in my head what happened to my little bird, it just doesn't make sense.
I'm so sorry for your loss. I highly doubt it was aspiration from bath water as birds get water up their nares all the time and they simply sneeze it out. If it were aspiration, I would also assume it would show up in the necropsy as aspiration pneumonia. A more likely scenario would be a genetic defect of some kind, possibly causing an abnormal heart rhythm. For some reason I have heard about more pineapples dying suddenly and while not proven or anything, I think it is possible that they are more prone to genetic problems.
@@ElleAndTheBirds Thank you so much for replying Elle! I've been thinking about what happened all the time, and then looked again at the cardigan that I wore on that day and noticed two very thin dark streaks on the back. I tested it with hydrogen peroxide and it appears to be blood. This means that probably my poor little boy was coughing up blood when he was still handing on my back. This is probably what those two gagging sounds were that he made before losing consciousness. And the amount of blood that spilled out of his beak when he fell on the wooden floor after losing consciousness was quite significant - over a teaspoon equivalent, I think. Do you think he might have had an aneurysm rapture? Also, I was so stupid for not doing enough research, I remember he eat a tiny piece of dark chocolate - really tiny, maybe a couple of wheat grains equivalent. Could that amount of dark chocolate have killed him?
The whole story of that happened is here:
My little pinapple conure boy was about 6 months old. He was perfectly fine, didn't exhibit any health problems at all, except he didn't like to fly and seemed to struggle to gain hight when he did fly on very rare occasion. Otherwise he was fine, eating healthy diet of organic cooked qinoa, grated carrot, capcicum, blueberries (one or two a day), pecan nuts (small amount), grain mix for parrots, always had fresh water. He spent most of the time outside the cage, with me.
A month ago, he had his bath (there was no more than an inch of water in the shallow bowl) and started climbing back on my showlder. I went to another room and by the time I was about to sit down on my chair, I realised there was something wrong, got up, tried to see what was happening. He was handing at the back of my cardigan and I couldn't see him. Then he made two gagging sounds and lost consciousness, released his grip on my cardigan and fell hard, head first on the wooden floor, and blood spilled out of his beak. I picked him up and he was completely lifeless. I pressed gently on his little chest, like CPR and heard this squelching sound, like there was liquid inside. And he was gone.
I brought him for the necrospy to the vet the next day. They said that there was a blod clot in his right lung but that could be from the fall. The lab results of the necropsy didn't find any abnormalities in his organs and the vet said that he likely died of aspiration - an accidental inhaling of water into the lungs.
So good to see these carriers.
I have a pet parrot but she speaks so loud. Is there any carrier that can lower their sound?
Happy 18th birthday 🎂 🎉🎉
congrats on the move!! can't wait to see the new bird room tour!! also, I have just a couple of questions. my first is how did you also move with your rabbits and birds? also, my cockatiel is afraid of the dark and I always have to have a light on for her so she won't freak out. how can I get her more comfortable of the dark? if anyone would answer any of my questions I would greatly appreciate it 😊. again congratulations on a new chapter of your life elle!!
These carrier will be soo useful for me tysm and I wanna know how to tame a un socialised bird like cocktails and finch's..
And I absolutely love ur videos and ur lovely birds and u are the most helpful person for bird tips
Great and helpful video. For international flights is it better to microchip or put open leg ring for grown up lovebirds?
Cute savior 11
Hi Ella I'm one of you biggest fans and I'm planning on getting 2 Birds do you have any advice??
Do you think a bird would be fine staying a couple weeks in a large travel cage, for a longer vacation?
Is it bad if you perch them in the soft sided carrier and they do nothing?
Can you make a video for helping bird owners prepare for fireworks
❤❤❤
I am looking to buy a sun conure and your video was super helpful. I travel between 2 homes. Florida and NY. How difficult is it to travel with your birds? Did any other passengers complain. I understand conures can be very vocal.
Congratulations on the move so happy for you 🎉😊
Hi Elle! I got my budgie a dog or cat carrier that we modified for a bird, and I kind of forced him in because there’s no treat he likes, but he ended up printing and tweeting in it, but he’s still scared of it. This is really confusing to me so if anyone can suggest a theory or suggest a treat for him that would be great!
Hi
Hello I'm from Pakistan.good video
I miss thistle
Hi I just moved a couple months ago and I know that it’s hard to transport birds
