OK, just a disclaimer from an Aussie that sees these birds all the time both in nature and as pets. Galah's are well known for their nastiness, it is ingrained and definitely not hidden. As for Cockatoos, I had one as a kid in High School and honestly he never bit me or got nasty in any shape or form. On the flip side, I have also had a cockatiel that took my son and I 5 months to get him to the point that we could even put our hands in his cage. The other parrots if you want a gentle parrot, Lorikeets and Conures, most especially Conures (inclusive of Conures are Princess Parrots) are the gentlest parrots I have ever owned. Lorikeets are funny and some can be temperamental, but like with any pet, that is dependant on the atmosphere in which they are raised and nurtured. These are only my personal opinions on what I have experienced, in fact I have found Budgerigars to be more nasty than any of the aforementioned parrots. Don't get me started on Indian Ringnecks, they are a whole other world of Parrot. So, the way I see it is, if you get the parrot as a very young bird and nurture it properly, proper diet and good training any parrot can be gentle. Showing fear or nervousness will definitely bring out their nasty side, whether you have been nipped or not, you still cannot be nervous or fearful around them. I found setting the bounderies for behaviour right from the get go is definitely a positive. I am sure I will get a lot of flack from a lot of people about this, experienced and not, I don't care. As I have already stated this is just from my own experience and what I found worked. No animal be it bird or not deserves to demonised for its misgivings, all animals are capable of being nasty regardless of breed.

I live in MEXICO where Parrots and other birds can live in captivity outside on Patios and Terrazas, but they are not nearly as common as they were 30 years ago..now seen mostly in country towns... Urban people are more eco aware

I had a CUNURE for a few years, and while I enjoyed him and played with him , I went on a long trip to Europe and left him with a family, I was so tired of cleaning the droppings and scattered seeds that when the little girl asked could we keep him a little longer I said " YOU CAN KEEP HIM FOREVER" ..later it was reported to me he met his end flying into a ceiling fan ! something that would not have happened at my house...I felt very bad about this and it strained my relationship with the MOM

I've always wanted one, it was the purpose of self growth on having a schedule and not being lazy. I never want to adopt one living alone but I'd like to have one when I have a family and kids. Thank you for the advice

My booger head, Sonny, is 18, I've only had him since January. I'm pretty sure he may have been dropped on his head once or thrice. LoL

They are loud, destructive, messy, temperamental and clingy. They do better in family situations where there is at least one person home most of the time. Adopt, don’t purchase from a breeder.

I rarely notice a galah here in Oz which isn't part of a pair. I have to say that keeping a lone galah inside just seems wrong to me.

Beautiful bird never saw one with pink on them

I just inherited a doubled-yellow headed amazon. She's about 40 years old & she hates guys. She aggressively tries to bite my husband. She loves me, but She'll randomly bite me. It's not hard or anything. It's usually if I pick her up to put her back in her cage. I've found though that she'll come over to me wanting love & then she will rub her beak on my hand & bite me.

We, my family own a male Galah. Let me tell u guys what she said in this vid is dead on right!. As beautiful and smart as they are, they are a one person show. He is attached to me and is ok wth my oldest daughter but completely hates my younger one and can not stand my wife. I had him on my shoulder and literally flew, made a U turn back to the kitchen just to bite her! They NEED A LOT of attention and stimulation. If u dont have the time, they will screech at the top of their lungs. And they ARE LOUD. We arw even thinking of re homing him. I can't afford him to one day bite my girls or wife in the eye or anywhere else. I have felt his bites, not fun. Thanks for the vid and reading. 😊

I sprung for a Celltei small Pak O Bird. I take my green cheek out to free fly as well, but have been wanting to check out some more local parks and take him out on bicycle rides. My main concern is off gassing/fumes when other vinyl backpacks get hot and ventilation. I can't risk getting him overheated, or breathing in plastic fumes in an enclosed environment. While the bag was really out of my budget- I justified it for piece of mind regarding his health.

I want to add on the joy of managing their raging hormones - they need good food, dark quiet 12 hour sleep each night, no petting bird except on head, keep away any places available they could use as a nest, no reinforcement of sexual behavior or regurgitation, plenty of toys and foraging activities to keep them occupied, protecting yourself and your spouse when the bird thinks you’re it’s mate, etc etc etc

I don’t recommend raising this bird. I bare it for my wife. It’s a mean bird and attacked my fingers & toes, lastly attacked my face near my 👁️ I wouldn’t let it out of the cage anymore. I don’t think this breed is safe in a home where there are children.

Everybody getting these birds that will let you hold them on the first day and everything looks so cute my bird been here a week it won't let me near her hold her feed her play with her or nothing just constantly running for her life

I appreciate your video but my galah is completely the opposite of your he is not aggressive and he is quiet not noisy at all however he suffer from separation anxiety i guess every parrot has its own personality ❤👍🏼Anyway thanks

💯 I have a female Galah, it attacked me three times for np reason. It bit my toe so hard. I’m considering selling it. Not to mention the continuous yelling and noises it makes.

Mine🦜 preferer more vegies than seeds. I don't feed my any kind the pellets. I use daily vegies and a mix seed diet. I am having birds for 15 years. One is 14 years old and no issues.
