THIS is one of the few people on this planet that EVER spoke the Total truth. I just wish that more people would sit up and take notes. just as he did. R.I.P. George, you are loved and missed.
RIP Carlin. Legit philosopher right there at least IMO. A man who had the unique gift to see the world how it really is and tell us about it and make us laugh. Underneath it all you cant blame him for being cynical. Who wouldn't be when you are so in tune with the weaknesses of the human psyche.
"when you're born in this world you're given a ticket to the freak show...and when you're born in america you're given a front row seat." Laughed Out Loud r.i.p. George
What a genius. The greatest of all time. The planet is fine. The people are fucked. What an inspirational quote that is. It puts things in such an uplifting perspective. To know this is all just one big freak show. People always trying to find reason for things. Reasons to kill, to be greedy. Some people do it in the name of God. But to George, everything just is, and so are we, for a little while. RIP to the greatest.
I appreciate that this video exists because it's good to hear Carlin speaking without playing for laughs or applause. He made a lot of good points, and it's a shame that no one else has stepped forward to carry the torch.
I love this man. I though of this quote... "We're as likely to hurt the universe as we are to help it, and we're not likely to do either." - John Green
My hero...I try to be optimistic about my life and the world around me, but it's clear that we are headed for self-destruction, and there's not enough people out there who can save us. Most people are too oblivious to realize it's happening because they are too distracted by gadgets, entertainment, and pro sports. I hope I live long enough to see how we all go. My one regret in life is not seeing this great man in person. If there is a Hell, I hope I can finally meet you, George.
"When you born in this world you are given a ticket to the freak show... and when you born in America: you're given a front-row-seat, and some of us get to sit there with notebooks, and I do my notes and I talk about the freaks, they are all human just like me and we're all the same, I'm not better, I'm not different... I'm just appart now, I'm separate, I'm over here because I put myself out of the mix, I don't have a stake on the outcome, I'm not a cheerleader for a given outcome"
I agree with him, that we are neck high in cesspool of lies. You can't possibly change anything. Try researching religion. It's a quagmire, every body disagrees with each other.
I'm religious and I love George Carlin. I know it's sounds strange but he IS an awesome man. He makes people think and that doesn't happen to much now a days. Rock on George!
I miss you SO much. You may have thought you were merely an observer on this planet, but I think you doubted how much people really learned from you. Really listened to you. You are still one of my greatest influences. R.I.P., sir.
Speaking as a early 30's angostic/atheist I have attempted this tactic multiple times in my life. I can say I have searched high and low for god and at least for me he has never appeared. Given my current understanding of things Im starting to believe I am not meant to be chosen to recieve god's love. Which is why Im such a huge fan of George Carlin. Wherever he is now is where I want to be.
The next step in the evolution of the dominate species on Earth... The top three contenders. Cockroaches. (odds on favorites) They'll eat anything and are REALLY hard to kill. They been around for 350 million years and are getting larger. Rats. They always find a way to survive, also will eat anything and history shows ya can't count out mammals. Jellyfish. (A surprise challenger) Turns out they like plastic and are thriving when other marine life is being killed by it.
First off I am a firm believer in God. One of the biggest reasons why so many people hate Christians is bc they try to shove religion down non believers' throats. If Mr. Carlin (R.I.P) did not believe in God, then that was his decision. Some of my close friends are atheists/agnostics and I love them to death. All I can do is show love to them. I love George Carlin's stand ups, and his face should be the first sculpted on the Mount Rushmore of comedians! I'd rather laugh than fight honestly.
Wow. I wish I could've met this guy. I see so many similarities in his thoughts to mine that it's comforting. Comforting to know that there are others out there that feel the same, or close to the same as me. His gift was to lay it out in a way that made you laugh, which is all you should really do.
"You need to pray to god!" "But I don't want to" "YOU MUST PRAY TO GOD OR HE WILL SMITE YOU!" "oh okay then" *prays to god* .... "I prayed to god, he didn't answer my prayer" "Thats gods will, he doesn't have time to answer you" "So why did i bother asking him anything?"
George understood God well that he does't have anything to do with what we made up. "God of Peace is very quiet because there is no conflict in Him". When George points out that "there is not Go", he means that there is only God of Love and not the one who is constantly watching you and punishing you. The world is as close to "hell" as we can get, but it is our own personal nightmare we made up and therefore we ourselves have a power to believe that it is real. We need to let it go because it is powerless, only fed by our own beliefs that are unloving and are hurting us for a while until we have enough and change our way of thinking.
If all the people who hold significant power in our world today were to watch this, and fail to reach any sort of understanding or accord (which is most likely the case), then we truly are fucked. How can the urgency of our species' mortality be iterated any more concisely than this. George you're the shit, also I'm baked out of my mind
he is a great philosopher.... every day I think of the freak show when I bike in the city traffic and see all those sad drivers primates prisoner in a coffin with wheels.... they had the great opportunity to have a healthy body and use it, and they squander it in a coffin with wheels...
Instead of atheists debating about existentialism, nihilism, theism, agnosticism , why don't you just go to the source and sincerely ask God if he exists? Everyone has a natural interest in God, even atheists, so it's not unnatural to just ask the question. You may not be struck by lightning or a man with a red cape will not show - but the answer can be just a humble and warm feeling in your heart that you know, that you know, that you know.
George had it spot on. Glow in the dark shoes ; bigger trucks are mindless gizmos. But the information flow gizmos; they just might "save the planet"....
@jivanta23 "i'm just a part now..." Actually, that's "apart" - he considered himself the same but separate. Not one of the crowd. Not better or worse, just apart.
I'm not saying I'm an expert on human behavior, but to me he just seems so fucking genuine when he talks, even if I disagreed with him I would think that he was saying what he actually thought and wasn't trying to get quoted or to come off as being superior. One of the best (insert obligatory inflammatory remark about someone else's religion and/or belief system)
Us Christians are not close-minded. God gave everybody free will to believe what they want to believe in. I can argue that you simply believe what this man says and believe what scientists say. It goes both ways. Have some respect for people's opinions.
@AngryPenguin27 what do you expect human beings to do? your answer to these questions are just as valid as George's. Maybe i'm being too pessimistic (like George) but I really don't think any amount of optimism is going to change the fact that the human race's years on this planet are numbered.
You call him a chiuld, yet he is the one who presented arguments to back up his point, while you did nothing except try to offend him. Which of the two is more childish you think?
the 30 seconds only. i love this man. 1:58 to 2:02 so true the gesture of bidding alone is a gesture of closure we dont only see in christianity but also in islam and the jewish belief. you dont see this gesture in polytheistic believes (or should i say visitor-worshippers). they always open their arms to receive/learn. most important most polytheist are anything but materialistic and egoistic. i did not come up with this. my budhist girlfriend did. i myself follow the learnings of the Asatrú.
I Dont believe in Religion, But i do have a relationship with GOD. one mistake George made was confusing God with Man Made religion. God is Divine, you dont have to see to believe, but as humans, we always need physical proof. sight, sound, smell, touch and taste. But as spiritual beings, We can see the world as a whole.
I have no problem whatsoever with people that believe in a god, they can believe what they want as long as they keep it to them selves, but I do however have a problem with religion, religion has separated us humans and is holding us back as a species, and I am not a big fan of gangs or groups, like how bikie's have to be members of big groups to feel strong when really, they are weak people, just the same as people who are in big groups to feel like there life is meaningful.
"Why are only 2% of humans atheists??" Well, doesn't even your own bible say, “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. 14 But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13-14......even Matthew knew the truth, it appears...
All true, but it doesn't mean you stop trying. It's when everyone thinks like that - that there's no hope or reason to try to change anything - is when we are truly and irrevocably fucked.
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and LET THEM HAVE DOMINION over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." (Gen 1:26) "... God commanded the man, saying, ... of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for ... thou shalt surely die." (Gen 2:16-17) "And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die." (Gen 3:4)

He was such a wise man. If this planet had more george carlins, the world would be a healthier place to live.
One of the wisest men to walk the Earth.
Wow, George Carlin is an amazing man and he helps me in dealing with the stupidity of people.
RIP Carlin. Legit philosopher right there at least IMO. A man who had the unique gift to see the world how it really is and tell us about it and make us laugh. Underneath it all you cant blame him for being cynical. Who wouldn't be when you are so in tune with the weaknesses of the human psyche.
THE PILE OF SHIT IS TOO DEEP.

George Carlin takes all the thoughts in my head and puts them in order. Lol
he preached the truth and nothing but the truth
I appreciate that this video exists because it's good to hear Carlin speaking without playing for laughs or applause. He made a lot of good points, and it's a shame that no one else has stepped forward to carry the torch.

Once in a lifetime Human Being. RIP George Carlin.
"Were all the same, i'm not better, i'm not different, i'm just a part now..." ~George Carlin
I actually cried to this, especially at: 0:15 - 0:44.
"He was here a minute ago..." RIP George

A man who was always ahead of his time.

Saying 'RIP George' is kinda paradox, he didnt belive there's a life after deth
It's good to know that I'm not the only one that thinks insects might possibly rise up in the food chain.
YOU DONT HAVE TO AGREE WITH EVERYTHING GEORGE SAYS TO RESPECT HIM AS AN INTELLIGENT BEING - PEACE & LOVE!
man created god in his own image.
Speaking as a early 30's angostic/atheist I have attempted this tactic multiple times in my life. I can say I have searched high and low for god and at least for me he has never appeared. Given my current understanding of things Im starting to believe I am not meant to be chosen to recieve god's love. Which is why Im such a huge fan of George Carlin. im sad he was like my tv father
We need people like him leading our countries, and instead of all the fuckers currently have high positions.
Can't wait to get my ball-rubbing cellphone :D
WOW!!!
He took the words outa my mouth
just incredible. This man is one of the smartest people I've ever heard had the pleasure to listen to.
Wow Ive thought about this kind of thing for some time now, but I never knew where to find people who would listen...
New favorite Icon, GEORGE CARLIN
the voice of common sense
What an extraordinarily intelligent and perceptive man!
George Carlin: beyond brilliant.
them fundies man thinking they are "heroes" and have to "save" everyone
"it just seems like the pile of shit is too deep"...
if that doesn't sum up the state of the world today idk what does...brilliant
The next step in the evolution of the dominate species on Earth... The top three contenders.
Cockroaches. (odds on favorites) They'll eat anything and are REALLY hard to kill. They been around for 350 million years and are getting larger.
Rats. They always find a way to survive, also will eat anything and history shows ya can't count out mammals.
Jellyfish. (A surprise challenger) Turns out they like plastic and are thriving when other marine life is being killed by it.
George had it figured out. He's a great role-model. Thank you.
One of the absolute best videos I've ever seen.
Kinda feelin most of that. Thanks george. You are not forgotten.
George Carlin has always blowed my mind.
God damn I love this man and I love his message, FUCK YEAH!
First off I am a firm believer in God. One of the biggest reasons why so many people hate Christians is bc they try to shove religion down non believers' throats. Darn! I got the wrong phone!
"You need to pray to god!"
"But I don't want to"
"YOU MUST PRAY TO GOD OR HE WILL SMITE YOU!"
"oh okay then" *prays to god*
....
"I prayed to god, he didn't answer my prayer"
"Thats gods will, he doesn't have time to answer you"
"So why did i bother asking him anything?"
00:46 so TRUE, especially today in 2014.

Carlin was awesome. For you younger fans who don't know, one of the people that Carlin looked up to was Robert Anton Wilson--check him out too.

When he says we have "gifts" he means we can do more then animals... duuuuhhhhh!
Lucky enough to see an open minded being. People might form a religion in 500yrs called carlinism and he might be their messiah.
I love that man.
is this complete interview on here
'everybody has a cell phone that will make them pancakes and rub there balls'
XD
I really miss this very knowledgeable man. I am a "watcher" also myself. I am going to have I.D. cards made saying that just to pass-out maybe. ":^ )
i have never come across a more aware and brilliant mind !!...i love this man!!...
George had it spot on. Glow in the dark shoes ; bigger trucks are mindless gizmos. But the information flow gizmos; they just might "save the planet"....
Indeed, we have past the tipping point.
i love it when george carlin repeats things. jizzzz
@jivanta23 "i'm just a part now..."
Actually, that's "apart" - he considered himself the same but separate. Not one of the crowd. Not better or worse, just apart.
I for one will never give up my binocular vision!!
@IcaroVolera information? What does that have to do with entropy?
@GingerAMVs I know. Where the fuck do I get one of those phones?
I'm not saying I'm an expert on human behavior, but to me he just seems so fucking genuine when he talks, even if I disagreed with him I would think that he was saying what he actually thought and wasn't trying to get quoted or to come off as being superior. One of the best

that was beautiful.
Church, priest, and tabernacle.
Love is the only thing that really matters in this world.
I feel the same!
So true, may the Flying Spaghetti Monster bless their reasonable souls. :p
Sadly we all have to stop and ask our selves what really matters
Great comments on everything.
Notebooks! How much do you think we can get for those?!?!?
Us Christians are not close-minded. God gave everybody free will to believe what they want to believe in. I can argue that you simply believe what this man says and believe what scientists say. It goes both ways. Have some respect for people's opinions.
i would agree but it seems to me that even bullshit has a use. so i feel like that would be offensive to bullshit.
@AngryPenguin27 what do you expect human beings to do?
your answer to these questions are just as valid as George's. Maybe i'm being too pessimistic (like George) but I really don't think any amount of optimism is going to change the fact that the human race's years on this planet are numbered.
and we want something that we can plug in that will make big big big things for us.. epic words
You call him a chiuld, yet he is the one who presented arguments to back up his point, while you did nothing except try to offend him. Which of the two is more childish you think?

Incremental change...the pile of shit is too deep.
All true, but it doesn't mean you stop trying. It's when everyone thinks like that - that there's no hope or reason to try to change anything - is when we are truly and irrevocably fucked.
I think he read Marx and Engel's work.
@CigaretteCactus
Theres a difference between being smart... and being immortal.
He's right.
"And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and LET THEM HAVE DOMINION over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth." its the guy from the bill and ted films
You can probably get an app that does it.
This would go great to a triphop beat just like 'Underwear Goes Inside The Pants' by Lazyboy which sampled the late Greg Giraldo.
so under-rated..and hopefully not under appreciated..
