The problem with the double needle is that it's for sewing a straight Stitch and not a stretch Stitch. Even though you made your Stitch length longer, every time you're putting the Garment on and taking it off you are pulling on those threads and breaking them. Stretch garments require serging or stretch zigzag stitching to handle the tension. This would be especially apparent in your underbust area. That's why ready-to-wear garments use quarter inch elastic or elastic thread on thread types of seams.
I just love it !!! Thank you so much for this tutorial:) maybe the double needle is not supposed to work on this particular fabric? Maybe the thread is not in good quality?
I feel like I’m doing something wrong, my fabric won’t gather the same way in any of these videos the 2 strings on the same side just pull out and doesn’t ruffle. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?
It could be a couple reasons! I would first check your tension and put it at the highest or lowest, if that doesn’t work, check your thread. Some threads are ‘stickier’ than others and don’t like to be pulled. Another thing could be the fabric and thread together just don’t work well together. The last thing I can think of is you are sewing the two lines too close or too far from each other. This shouldn’t be too big of a problem, but it does make it harder. I always aim for .25 inches. Hope this helps!
