step 1: obtain amount you want to take out
step 2: seam rip waistband, logo, pockets, and belt loops
step 3: take in darts
step 4: seam rip sides of legs
step 5: re sew together
step 6: re attach waistband, pockets, belt loops, and logo if wanted

I use normal thread for the darts and side seams, but otherwise it is denim thread!
Actually I ordered a wide leg jeans but it was too wide for me from the leg side..

Hello! I do have some tips but it really depends on the what types of seams your jeans have! If they at flat fell seams (see my denim corset video) then that would be far more complicated than if they were a normal seam. For the most part, for a beginner, I’d just say to sew is millimeter by millimeter until it fits!

Hey! I use normal thread on stitches that are not seen, and denim thread on stitches that can be seen. You can see is the waist band, topstitch if the sides, and the pockets, so I would use denim thread on that. Hopefully that makes sense!

What did you mean by you did it straight(referring to the sides)
Your natural body shape curves at the hips, so initially I curved the seam the ‘fit’ my body curve, but I found that the curved seam ended up with a weird bulge on the front profile. I chose to instead sew that seam straight (you can see in the few moment before that red line was curved indicating the seam). Hope this helps! Let me know if ur still confused and I could explain further!

I found that making the darts too long, as in to the bottom of the pocket, my butt looked flat. Going halfway down the pocket made a nice butt flattering dart.
Thank you for pointing this out!! This curve of my butt hits mid/low pocket, but it will be different for everyone!
