I’ve just found your channel this evening. Some solid advice! When we are meal planning we always also include looking through the cupboards and the freezer first to try to avoid duplicating items (e.g. tinned tomatoes). The issue I find with online shopping is that you can’t control the dates on the items that we receive. It can ruin your meal planning. I find online shopping works for heavy items especially if you can select a low carbon delivery which is also often cheaper. My carrot peeling go into stock. My potato skins get carefully washed and i freeze the potato peelings until I have enough for a potato dauphinois. I meal prep for the week on either a Saturday or a Sunday. I’m never without celery, carrots and onions as the base for so many dishes.
Ordering my groceries online has been a huge saver for us. No matter how high the total gets, I always find a way to delete or swap out items and stay on budget. It would be a lot of running around the store to do this in person. Love your content!♥️🇨🇦
@@amandazplace5663 yes! Online shopping is such a great idea, I’m hoping one day Lidl will provide online shopping. So nice to have you here, we’re currently saving for a trip to Canada 🇨🇦 x
Meal planning is a must, checking your pantry, fridge and freezer before ensures we use up and don’t waste, by planning meals and making a list you don’t forget items you need and then end up back in the shop and coming out with more than that 1 item you went in for, I agree 1 shopper is enough in a family, my husband could spend a fortune and I couldn’t make a meal out of the stuff he’d chosen, I’m retired retail so I’m not easily corrupted with supermarket “offers” we like Heinz beans, but we’ve had Branson beans a few times and enjoyed them.
Absolutely! Meal planning is a must! I can’t live without my shopping list & I try to leave the husband at home when I go shopping 😅 Thanks so much for your comment & happy Sunday x
Another tip I do if you can afford it is bulk buy when things are on offer. I buy my toilet rolls and washing liquid dishwasher tabs etc at least 6 months worth. I have the space to store, I am lucky. If you have a farmfoods near you check them out for stuff like this. If you join their mailing list you have money off vouchers every month. £2 off £30 etc. I have always lived my life frugally and retired at 54. But I still enjoy myself. Budgeting and saving gives you freedom.
@@roslinney4285 fantastic tips! Thank you! Aw I love that! We’re still paying off debt currently, but I can’t tell you how excited I am to have financial freedom! Thanks for your comment & welcome x
Hi Leanne...true story I once worked with a Scottish Chef and one day he brought two cans of Scottish Haggis and took out a medium size Cooking Pan and he poured the contents from the cans and mixed it up with vegetables and he quoted something from Robert Burns and it tasted all right not bad for a first time plate of Scottish Haggis.
Fantastic tips, Leanne! Your approach to downsizing and saving money is so practical and inspiring. I love how you combine simple living and minimalism with financial well-being-it really shows that small changes can lead to big savings. If you're looking to expand your reach and help even more people on their journey to financial freedom, I’d love to share a method we use at our agency that leverages RUclips's promotion feature. It’s a great way to connect with a wider audience who would benefit from your valuable insights. Keep up the amazing work!
