The UK is beyond repair and the Western society will have to go a long way to experience the wonder of the golden years again (1950-2000...RIP)
The saddest part is that it isn't circumstantial, but by design

Can you explain how it is by design? It's one of the stupidest things people say. Why would the west kill itself so that other parts of the world take over and they become subservient?
What is happening in the west is uncontrolled capitalism coupled with unlimited liberalism. The people in the west fully believe and agree with things that are bad for them and they criticise other societies that reject such notions. Minorities in the west who reject such things are labeled as backwards and accused of not integrating when in fact most in the west held those very same beliefs of the minorities just a few short decades ago

It's amazing how accurate Academics were, when documenting the Zionist K-Plan 40 years ago.
The Left delivered every Tenet...they are the Abuse Enablers of Corporate Psychopaths.
The Ease of Indoctrination, using the Censorship of Reality, worked so well on 'Woke' Flying Monkeys.

I lived in Thailand from the age of 23 for 16 years, my wife is Thai, my kids are 1/2 Thai. Don’t have rose tinted glasses people. I’ve seen at least 20 people die in Thailand, 1 being one of my best friends: Road accidents, corruption, murders and deeply racist, also if you get sick or cancer as my wife did then you better have money to pay for it because public hospitals, won’t cut it and we had to pay thousands of pounds to keep her alive. Thailand is much more unsafe than the UK for the reasons I mentioned. I am from Manchester which is as rough as it gets in the UK, I have also lived in Rio, Dubai and have travelled the world. Follow your dream but take my word for it.

I'm in the Philippines. Granted it's not as prosperous as Singapore, but despite the pockets of poverty you see here, it's clear to me that people look a lot happier, healthier and less downtrodden than they do in the UK. The climate is better, and day to day living is considerably cheaper too. It's also great that I don't feel the pressure of a panopticon-like surveillance nanny state interfering in every I do whilst letting the country go to shit around me. Also the Philippines is growing economically at a level the UK could only dream of. It's better to be in a poorer country that's growing richer than it is to be in a once great country that seems like it's about to fall into the sea. It feels like there could be a better future here, whereas the UK feels like it has no future at the moment.

Material goods will pass away but raising a family is what God gave me a life to do. Plenty of nice spots outside of the city which are safer and better value for money especially up north. A lot of accurate observations in the video though. The people in the UK are lost and troubled for sure. But it is a society that has abandoned God. You are right the money is being siphoned off because at least half of the country is owned by American big tech, and private equity who are the middlemen benefitting from the last 40 years of a failed privatisation policy. Add to that house prices in Britain, especially London, are unaffordable and rent in that city can take up to 50% of wages! Ruinous. Add that 45% tax on top of that and voila! You have nothing left.

The spoiled kids in the West who get a free education spit on, swear at and generally treat their teachers like sh*t. They have no appreciation for how good they have it, and why would they if the parents don't bother instilling some good values in them from a young age? The West is all but lost. My three daughters dare not walk down the street unaccompanied here in Birmingham (UK). I have seen for myself what happens if any of them do so: as soon as they step out onto the street the car horns start up. Then cars full of ‘diverse’ people pull up alongside them shouting s**ual abuse or propositioning them or even trying to pull them into the car (no doubt for a spot of what the media calls ‘grooming’, as if their hair needs any more attention). This is no exaggeration. And our street is in one of the so-called nicest parts of town. When I complained to our chief constable about these disgusting creeps patrolling our streets for victims he replied “In their own country, woman are not allowed to walk alone.”. And he’s our police chief! How is that helpful? How does that make their behaviour ok?

I spent 16 years living and working in SG until 2020. Even then tax was the biggest reason I could accumulate so much wealth, compared with in the UK. Also no tax on capital gains earned outside SG (e.g. on investments still held in UK). Ended up earning crazy money after-tax (in financial services). Agree with all the positives you mention about SG. Only reason I returned, in my early 50s, was I realised I’d fully “done” SG and SE Asia (for business and pleasure) so time to resume a different lifestyle in UK - but in a large country house well away from the cities. And you ask, where does the tax money go in the UK? Answer - the vast majority on the welfare state, paying 9 million working-age adults who refuse to work, etc. As Lee Kuan Yew noted decades ago, the UK welfare state has morphed from being a safety-net of last resort into a hammock for Brits - and millions of foreigners - to relax into.

But I still lived better than I would have in the UK. I have had a serious illness but luckily had cover. In the UK I would have died waiting for an operation. I did go back recently to visit a relative. The country I grew up in 70s 80s, gone, dead and buried. My city didn't even resemble the England I knew back then. I felt sick at heart seeing my homeland on life support. I will probably never return unless I really had too. Two words for everyone in the UK....Get out

Hi Tom, here is my take on moving to Asia: I have been living in Asia for over 18 yrs, I am a Brit and went back to the UK like 8 yrs ago, OMG, soon as i stepped off the plane I wanted to return to Asia, what was the most striking thing for me, was seeing all the immigrants living in the UK just put me right off, and the amount of miserable faces everywhere.. Everyone had something to moan and groan about, no one is happy anymore, just bloody depressing and for the weather in the UK damn...Yes, it was nice seeing the family, which lasted until my cuppa tea finished hahha, I just couldn't wait to get back to Asia. Asia is not for everyone, you just have to remove all consciousness off your mind about western ways... And just chill out and be happy.. One major striking thing with Asian countries, is they still hold family values foremost which the west has sadly melted away.. Another item with Asia, virtually NO BENEFITS are available, i.e. free gov handouts, you either WORK OR DIE in Asia, thus as soon as the kids leave school, its job hunting for any job and they are happy to work and they do not complain. And in Asian countries, everyone knows, work hard play hard be happy eat well and always look after the elders, with respect.. Plus of course with not a lot of western cuisine available, the Asian lasses are and have really nice bodies, and with clean teeth, you shall find a few fatties spotted about in the major cities though, as they are becoming westernized with the crap foods the west world brings into Asia. I COULD WRITE MANY BOOKS ON ASIA, it is mainly good on all fronts. Just make sure you obtain a good health insurance, and you either have a good retirement plan and income coming in, because no western person could live the way Asians live, and would any of us work for say $5-10 per day if your lucky lol..

Our govt is so forward looking and has figured out so many things correctly. For example, making sure that everyone has a shot at homeownership with its program to build quality public housing with easy access to affordable public transport like the mass rapid transit system and island wide network of buses, as well as amenities like supermarkets, clinics, schools, hawker food centers, etc. Every civil servant, even Ministers, are held to the highest standards, n corruption of any kind will be dealt with swiftly. Singapore is safe - it's safe to be on the streets even past midnight, n we have a strict and punitive policy against drug dealers (= death sentence by hanging). I wish I could turn the clock back 30 years, SE Asia was very exciting for a young lad back then. Love Thai food but their English grates with me unfortunately. I married a girl from the Philippines 20 years ago who I met whilst working in Dubai, which is the best place to meet a well educated SE Asian girl who won't empty your bank account. Take my advice, if you do go to live in SE Asia, don't get addicted to the bars and the girls, if you do, you'll soon be on your way back home. The malaise of the people is palpable. The culture of the Middle East is pervasive, and the migrant crisis is really affecting the psychology of culture. Even seeing family in Ireland has revealed an intentional supplanting of traditions and culture.
I can understand the allure of Singapore as a strong economy and a safe and exciting place to be. Expats have always done well in other nations especially if they have the skills needed by the host country.
I am optimistic about the incoming government of America and I hope it will have a positive influence on the UK with trade and energy benefits.

While it is true that Asian governments acted smartly compared to their western counterparts, What Tom Birchy badly missed is the simple fact that the clean streets in Singapore is constructed and maintained by 1) 800 S$/month worker from Bangladesh/India 2) All cheap food is cooked/ cleaned by 1200S$/month worker from Malaysia 3) All family have a 500 S$/month in-house maid from indonesia/thailand/malaysia. Any maid who get pregnant will be sent back the next month. Public buses are driven by 2500S$/month bus drivers from China. Nearly 2 million of them, working in near slavery like conditions, so that the remaining 3 million people can be more productive. As is the case with the UAE, Qatar etc. Tom only met the beneficiaries of this system. I wonder if Tom will swap places with any of the above category of people to live in Singapore? Or will do the same jobs for the same salary in the UK/West?

Living in London yeah its mad expensive here. Living in Woolwich(Greenwich) in London and to get to work in Central London I would have £8 (average). In Singapore /Hong Kong. I could get around for with that for a good 2-3 days. You are right about the tax banding from 20% to 40% in the UK, pus the the high VAT 20% and the council tax. Your purchasing power diminishes. Though being I am half Singaporean myself where i did go to local school (St Stephen's, SJI), Uni in Perth. I did ended in London back in the 2000s. THat was a time where many Singaporeans were looking for a difference experience. Back then it was a great getting a career and experience in London within professional bodies or top tier organisations. However, since Brexit i do feel the UK has lost so much. Think of when the UK peaked in 2012 and it felt like the centre of the world. Despite brexit and its years of political failure I have always believe that London has a way in redefining themselves but sadly outside London I do see the opportunity is really lacking. You are right of the winter months and yes its why i do go back to Asia for 2 months in Singapore /HK during the end of Winter when its at its harsh. My dad is in SG, but my partner she is in HK and it did cross my mind of relocating to HK. lol but yeah cant wait to get to Asia i miss the sunlight and i need to go skateboarding where there is warmth.

Brexit never happened in reality. All that has been delivered since we actually left officially in 2019 is BRINO. Brexit in name only. The establishment never envisaged we'd actually leave and did their damnedest to stall it. The incumbent PM being one of them who tried to reverse it. We're missing out on so much. The eu in the meantime is displaying the authoritarian bullying and threats to member states who don't comply with its dictatorial orders. It's great seeing Orban and Fiso standing up to them. The euro is being constantly propped up by quantitive easing. And there is currently a recession. Germany is struggling badly.

That's more than 40 years of asset stripping, meaning there's a veneer of Democracy yet underneath there's no agency, no involvement for the ordinary people. The 2 government parties at their core serve the same god, that of faceless corporate entities, mostly offshore.😢Even local councils, you'd think were there to support local people: Bullshit, they're a corporation. The UK Judiciary - a corporation. The UK police force - another corporation. All corporations, and what are corporations for? Profit, and the enrichment of a top tier elite.

It's really not that confusing. The people immigrating to the UK come from India and Pakistan and they bring all their issues with them. There's a reason people in the UK aren't fleeing to India... That's what they're trying to escape from.
Ultimately you're right that there is somewhat of a hypocrisy here, but the distinction is immigration into your own country hurts you, while immigrating into a better one benefits you. It's no on Brits to control other nations immigration policies, but the natives there should get it under control or they will experience similar (not the same) consequences.

And never underestimate the English gentleman allure particularly when it comes to acquiring a foreign-born spouse, so get into character.
The time to make the move is either before you get locked into a mortgage, marriage/kids, career ... or after retirement and you have no regrets about what you are leaving behind. You know, friends, family, football, the pub, TV, British food, religion, culture ... If you find yourself saying, "For two pins I'd emigrate, except ..." then you really aren't expat material.

I have a smallish mortgage, a partner who wants to stay local due to family but once they are gone (not too soon obviously) we are moving away from the UK. I think the major issue is that net migration figures don't take into account the skills that are leaving the UK and lack of skills coming into the UK and so you have a disproportionate amount of low skilled people trying to get the same jobs. That's not including the illegal migration of course, which I believe, if the government could allow them to work legally somehow then at least they are paying into the system. Why can't we get illegal migrants to do things like road work, cleaning public spaces etc...
