First time I've seen the like/dislike turned off on Dan's videos. Based on the comments, it must have been pretty harsh. I honestly didn't mind the review. I think if you're going to spend a ridiculous amount of money for this, it's fair to expect a basically flawless experience.
fr the people in this comment section have 0 ability to use nuance, obv youre going to be way more critical of a service amd compare to other products of the price point when youve dropped 10s of thousands on the ticket
Unfortunate Shot Well I watched a video about him, that he got stacked in a gate door, I thought he was a funny guy until this video, he very bad doing reviews, he compares to other Airlines instead of actually reviewing the flight, plus he thinks he is a professional.
Only on the days his “mummy” tucks him in. When he has a play-date with his boy toy, they listen to Boy George. Don’t be too rough on him for the review, or he will sing, “Do you really want to hurt me, do you really want to make me cry?”
Why are people in the comments section so pissed off that he's complaining, if you've paid tens of thousands for this - then you should expect very high quality service.
I HAVE to fly Etihad on annual leave (Company buys my tickets) so agonize over whether to pay for an upgrade. In the end I mostly do as it turns out to be around 60% of the standard Bus fare price after my company-supplied Econ ticket is factored in so it is a reasonable deal. But it is still damn expensive!
If you pay 10,000, you don't want to be addressed by the staff like they are pub staff. You didn't pay 10,000 to be their "buddy". Your first name is for your family and friends, and don't pay them 10,000, do you? So if you pay someone 10,000, proper address is part of the proper professionalism that you should expect. Ultimately, you paid for a professional experience. Not for a pub experience. If they can't even address you by your last name, of course they're not professional. They're just faffing around in the air, expecting YOU to respect THEM.
There you are complaining about the champagne in your goddamn first class *apartment* while I’m here in economy class thanking the lord that they serve bottled water.
You clicked on a video titled brutally honest review and you criticized him for complaining, seriously? He paid for it, he definitely has all the rights to complain. People need to stop hating on someone because they have a little more money. It's your choice to choose which content you want to see therefore he's not the one to blame. Also, this video might be helpful to the ones interested in the goddamn first class Apartment you mentioned.
I'm not jealous, i'm saying he should be more grateful for this, try going into economy class where you're next to everyone with no room and the person in front of you reclines his seat so far back that you barely have any room in front of you, then there's this...
Dan’s point is that airlines are charging from about $5k to $20k for a first class ticket and still they sometimes try to save $10 on the champagne service, probably thinking no one will know the difference.
It's his JOB to notice that. If someone spends 20 years saving up miles to afford a flight like this, they want to pick the best flight they can for that. I've spent 10 years saving up SkyMiles, and only have enough for a one-way first class flight.
Dear friend, the fear comes from the knowledge that being filmed is enough evidence to be used to sentence a person up to and including death. The same fear persists in Mainland China. It’s not that the people have never seen a recorder before; it’s that audio and video recordings can easily sentence a person to deep, deep trouble.
Guys just stop criticising him He makes living of analysing planes hence its no surprise that he is going to expect certain standards from the planes especially when he spent a lot of money
@@panachek7722 He's right. You are paying for an experience when you are flying a luxury first class apartment flight. The experience from the lounge to the flight has to be a spectacular, memorable experience. You're not judging this experience in comparison to a business or economy class experience. You're judging it from an experience that you would pay at least $10000 for.
I flew first class once; when I returned home after serving overseas. They actually moved me up there and fed me a steak in 1973. First class in the 70’s wasn’t special; we all walked through it every time we board a plane. But that steak and being ushered to first class from the rear of the plane as a sign of appreciation from the airline; especially in the 70’s was something special; I’ll never forget it. 44 years later and that long overseas flight home is still considered my best flight ever.
First class in the 1950s though it was really something. You got to stand up the whole time if you wanted including landing and takeoff and there was a bar in the plane. You could smoke of course like you could in the 70s. But I mean everybody had a big stogie. Flight crew was available for your every need and I mean every need LOL. Flying was new and everybody was petrified so whatever you did they let it slide!
The title of the video clearly states he’s reviewing a first class seat, so it doesn’t make sense for us to compare his experience with an economy class experience. If someone pays top dollar for first class, damn right every aspect of the experience has to be first class (or better). Also he’s not shaming people in economy class, so why are people here shaming him for not enjoying his experience..
Thank you!!! I was looking for this comment! I travel economy just about always, there are standards of economy flying separate and apart from business and first class. If you are paying top dollar to fly first class standard of care should align with that price. You pay more, you expect more. Very easy. I don't know why so many people watching this video don't understand this. You don't have to fly first class to get the concept!
Idk the price for this journey is about $4000 which isn’t that expensive for first class. He’s expecting a fully serviced flight for a fare that isn’t that expensive. Singapore Airlines is a good third more expensive than this, so if I was on that flight then I might get pissy.
fair enough, but a point could be made that its a representation of the airline and how keen they are to outdo their competitors. i'm not an airline expert so i could be wrong, but i'd say etihad and sia are similar in that they are reputable, big names in the airline industry. if i were flying on any reputable airline, i have every right to expect good service, as it is part of the draw. if big name airlines think that they can slack on service standards because they are considerably cheaper than their competitors, thats not right imo. i'd say their service standards are equally important to that offered in hotels, esp in first class. i've never flown first class before, but i've stayed at several hotels, some more bougie than others. but if i were to compare those in the 4 to 5 star range, i'd say they all provide similar exceptional service standards, regardless of price.
I guess he is just pointing out that, as other similar airlines all seem to have asian crews, why doesn’t Etihad? It would seem they go out of their way to NOT have an asian crew but a European one instead. It is a valid question. It does not reflect his ethnic preferences, but questions Etihad’s motivation rather.
Actually a lot of other reviewers praise the fact that there is such DIVERSITY. They use the word diversity and not ethnic. It really shows the inherent racism going on here.
Omg I literally lose my brain cells in this comment section... y’all have to realize that this guy is JUDGING THE SEAT BASED ON THE PRICE, NOT ON HOW MUCH BETTER IT IS THEN FUCKING SPIRIT OR WHATEVER. He pays 15k for this damn thing!
@@shane658 not to loose more braincells on your comment but I'm saying almost everything he pointed out for why he didn't like the flight is minor to me. Like the WiFi, or the staff calling him, the champagne price and stuff like that. He could've opted to say no for the champagne and should've told the staff how to call him, and stuff like that.
Phillustrator lol. The First class champagne was only $0.50 a bottle and it it was called white lightning. Anyway it was simply *ghastly* ! The toilet was showing some wear and tear with diarrhea all over the cubicle. Finally, the air hostess told me to f*ck off the airplane when we landed. 1/10
Depending on the plane he buys it would not be a worse experience… all he needed to do is buy a A380 fitted like the ones for Emirates! He would have a castle in the sky… or you thought I was saying his own plane like a King Air or a little Cessna… you are so naive…
Stella K I know! Here's my review, oh but if you want the complete review you have to watch 6 other videos, and I won't reveal that until you're 3/4s through the video. I'm happy I'm not the only person who found that weird
I travel in first class and as many people, I like to be left alone and not asked how my flight was- I don’t like small talk when I’m tiered and not always in the mood to have conversation with people and I’m sure the crew members are aware of that.
+simplyvirtuoso: I've flown many times in both first and last class. Never once has someone on the flight crew stopped at my seat for idle chatter. They're usually too busy for that. I have had occasional idle chatter from various passengers, but not typically in first class. I can usually stop any idle chatter from forming simply by putting earbuds in the moment I sit down. Because first class offers much higher level of service than coach, I find that sitting in first class to be much more interrupting by the crew ... with them stopping to give me a hot towel or refilling my drink or asking if I need anything or taking my drink order or taking my dinner order or offering a magazine and so on. Because coach is so hands off by the crew, you're definitely left alone by the flight crew more often than in first class. This last time I flew, I had recently joined a new miles program for an airline I rarely fly. Toward the end of the flight, one of the flight crew did stop by my seat to thank me for joining the program and being a new member. I thought it was a nice gesture that they took the time to recognize and thank new program members in their seats.
@@United1158 No, he didn't.. The companies pay him to promote.. How do you think he does this so often? 🤨 He probably only paid what you'd pay for business class
@@derya94b The companies dont pay him, and hes addressed that in many videos. He is able to fly this product by gaining status, then getting complementary upgrades. Even if he did pay the price for business class, that would still be 3000-4000$. Theoretically though, someone would have to pay 10,000-20,000$ to fly this product so a hard bed would not be ideal for that price tag.

It’s kinda strange that for such an expensive seat, they have you sitting backwards. I would personally hate that. I’d end up sitting on the couch rather than the seat.
Its more about getting what you are paying for. By your logic buying a £200,000 car and having bad quality seats or missing features and then complaining about that would be whinging.
On our flight home from Japan, the plane was so empty, they let everyone have their own row. It was nice, not apartment first class nice, but economy nice!
I flew back from Japan on Cathair and the attendants used a special trick to make a row of seats into a very comfy bed and I had my seatbelt on while sleeping. I had just been diagnosed with AML and once in the air the crew was amazing. Can't say the same about the ground crew which made me feel like a criminal for wanting to be treated closer to home and cause a risk to their airline...
First world problems ! I’m pretty sure he didn’t pay for this flight, and the fact he had his own room on a plane ! He should just put his tiara in the storage drawer.
They're not first world problems though! When you pay an incredible amount for first class, you expect a lot from it! This is a *brutally honest* review! Compared to the competition, the points he mentioned are very valid. Anyway, he DID pay for his flight. He is entirely self funded, and he has a few videos on his channel about that too!
I can appreciate this for what it is: a review of an upscale flying experience. Not everyone is lucky enough to get to do this, but I think it's cool to see a comparison between these top-notch airlines. It's just like watching fancy hotel reviews; fascinating but not always relatable. Still....interesting.
I don’t, I make a lot of money and I still hate rich people and their pleasantries where they try and pay people to not act like normal people but like servants. Fuck that I’ll still act like a regular person regardless of the money I make.
@@NickGoesTrucking agreed with victor, learn a trade, be good at it. I started as an apprentice electrician when I was 18, drove a cheap car that got good mileage (serviced myself). Earned decently, invested and saved aggressively (don't make a saving goal, money spent is money gone is the right mindset). Lived at home, and when I had the money i took a loan and bought a house outside of the city with a rental apartment in it, rental income is great and makes the house a decent investment. I had a buddy living with me (or get a cheap girlfriend😁) the first few years as well who payed half the electricity and some rent. More income than the loan cost (25 years).
@@tollevkvendbo for my family it was figuring out what rich people in the city wanted and needed - then catering a pretty simple service (education) to suit their needs and get paid a lot more. To top it off, we got good enough that we were able to bring in others and teach them, so they then worked for us. We only get 24 hours a day, around 10-12 of which is spent working. Even at most a person could only sustain 12+ hrs a short burst at a time. However, with people working for you, you now effectivly get 10+10 + (how many people you have) per day, maximising income, if that makes sense.
Why is everyone upset at this? Just because its not relatable/relevant to YOU doesn’t mean some people don’t enjoy this content. If you are paying premium for upscale service you expect the best and videos like this are helpful for that target audience. Not to mention, people who fly a lot for work or in general can rack up a ton of points and use them towards first class ticket costs, so the assumption that only rich people can do this is unfair. Bro I've taken 10 planes in the past year
I HAVE to fly Etihad on annual leave (Company buys my tickets) so agonize over whether to pay for an upgrade. In the end I mostly do as it turns out to be around 60% of the standard Bus fare price after my company-supplied Econ ticket is factored in so it is a reasonable deal. But it is still damn expensive!
8 of the 10 flights in the past year have been with Ryanair - I just get cheapest tickets possible.

Salmon money is abstract
It's his JOB to notice that. If someone spends 20 years saving up miles to afford a flight like this, they want to pick the best flight they can for that. I've spent 10 years saving up SkyMiles, and only have enough for a one-way first class flight.

What airline?
First class in the 1950s though it was really something. You got to stand up the whole time if you wanted including landing and takeoff and there was a bar in the plane. You could smoke of course like you could in the 70s. But I mean everybody had a big stogie. Flight crew was available for your every need and I mean every need LOL.
This
Yeah.. in order to relate to this video you have to make over 150k..
I knew he's giving me a bad vibe when he start to say about ethnic differences between airlines I've never heard a reviewer talking about it before.
I’m sure the ethnic thing only matters to him... it doesn’t to me.

I travel in first class and as many people, I like to be left alone and not asked how my flight was- I don’t like small talk when I’m tiered and not always in the mood to have conversation with people and I’m sure the crew members are aware of that.
I've flown first class once and I loved the crew members and the food
Maybe he doesn't have any friends and that small talk with people who are forced to be nice to him is the only social interaction he has.
May I ask how you afford it?
Get over yourself knobwipe
