    I've used so many budgeting apps over the years, and I will always stick with YNAB. I was able to grandfather in to the annual cost of $90. Even if they were to take that back, I would still subscribe. I do still have access to YNAB 4 (on your computer, there's no more app but a website), but they have improved so many features that I rarely use it unless I want to play around with numbers/project. YNAB is also amazing for people who aren't paid reliably. If you're paid bi-weekly or you're a contract employee, YNAB makes it extremely easy to keep track of your bills.
    I've heard of DAS Budget, but don't see many people talk about it. It looks very promising.

    Why should I pay for an app when I'm on a budget?🤨 (There are free apps for budgeting..)

    • @CalebBaleFinance
      @CalebBaleFinance  Год назад +8

      Well I certainly understand the question. Similar to why would anyone pay for financial coaching if they need to save money? Obviously it takes money to build these apps and provide the budgeting service. But my argument would be it takes effort to keep a budget. Generally if you are actually invested in something like with a monthly fee, it'll motivate you more to keep the budget. And as a result, keeping the budget will likely save you more than the cost of the budgeting app. But I get it, if you're tight on funds, it's weird to be paying for a service. Fortunately there are several free options though!

    I've been watching FinTech reviews for years but never knew that Mint has a 4-pay no-ads option. And you are one of the few RUclipsrs to cover Monarch. I'm one who wants to break down my paycheck, so that I know how much is going to retirement brokerage accounts for net worth reporting and to know tax contributions. Thanks

      Thanks for stopping by Greg! To be fair, it had the option of the no ads when I wrote my script about a month ago. I’m not seeing the option right now so I’m not sure if they changed it or not. It’s good to know I’m able to show people some lesser known apps like monarch. You and me both, I break down my income entirely. It really helps with hitting goals. Let me know if there’s something else in Fintech that would be good to review!

    Mint is frustrating. Every transaction’s full text string is included. So when you create a rule, the rule is for that specific text string and not something simple like the merchant name, or keywords. This renders the “rules” useless making me have to manually re-categorize transactions every single day. So I’m looking for a different app.

    • @CalebBaleFinance
      @CalebBaleFinance  Год назад +1

      I certainly understand that. One of the debit cards I've reviewed does that with transactions which is super annoying too. And that would be problematic if you do use rules a lot within Mint. Let me know which app you land on to use, Joey!

    The 1st con you mentioned about every dollar is massive! Ive been trying to deal with that damn program and you literally can only budger the 2nd half of the month. The 1st two weeks i have no idea where i stand unless i go through with a calculator because it doesnt even give you balances that make any sense!

    • @CalebBaleFinance
      @CalebBaleFinance  Год назад

      I would disagree that you can only budget the second half of the month but I would say it would be easier if they changed up their settings a bit. But I think that they've started to do that recently with their paycheck planner feature. Fortunately, if you don't like EveryDollar though, there's plenty more to choose from clearly! Thanks for the feedback regardless.

    Thanks for this, very informative. I have used Mint in the past. The biggest problem I had was that my husband has the main credit card (and I'm a sub-user) that we use for pretty much every purchase. I have another credit card (and my husband is a sub-user) that is primarily for Costco and sometimes my husband's business expenses. On my Mint, I can't pull his credit card information in and on his Mint, he can't pull my credit card info. So it doesn't work that well! Do you know if any of these budget apps will allow for us to pull in the other credit cards?

    • @CalebBaleFinance

      Absolutely! Great question. I can't answer that perfectly as we don't use credit cards. But I believe that YNAB is pretty good for hooking up cards. Probably one of the best ones when it comes to connecting to banks and credit cards. It'll just cost a subscription.

    Do any of these budget apps have account forecasting? For example, if you enter a large future expenses(s) will any of these apps include the future expenses on the account balances? I tried MINT, and it does not include this simple feature.

    • @CalebBaleFinance
      @CalebBaleFinance  Год назад

      That's a great question, Jason. I will need to look into that further and get back with you on it. I know that some of them will allow you to input the future expense and it will then break down how much you need to save per month to hit that goal, but off the top of my head, I can't remember if any of them actually include a future expense as a part of the balance.
