I was very skeptical when I saw this radio on amazon and the price was reasonable. I decided to purchase this radio.
That being said when I received the radio yesterday. I was very dissapointed and thought that I was ripped off. Because of it's size and looks like a childs toy.
I started using this radio and trying all of its features and let me tell you. I'm very impressed and all of it's features work very welll.
I'm not being paid to sponsor this radio but it's worth every penny. Trust me you won't be dissapointed.
Thank You
God Bless
Thanx for the look at this.
Its actually a nice little radio for camping and so.
You should not use it on MW of HF while your charging it because the charger emits to much junk.
Had been better if you charged it first and then showed it in the video.
There is an upgraded version with digital display and that one performs very well on hf even though it has a short antenna.
The Fm reception i very good and it pics up weak stations clearly.
It has a search mode so it fills the channels with all stations it finds so you easily just can jump between all stations it finds.
I like your videos normally bu this was not so good, ahem ;)
Thank you.
No joke... I had just looked at this same radio on Amazon yesterday while trying to find a portable weather radio. I noped on it pretty quick after reading a few reviews and seeing it rebranded by multiple sellers. By the way, that's a crazy high price for what seems like a $10 toy.
Hi from UK, I just picked up the HanRongDa version from Ali Express, exactly the same radio with a different brand name, got for it for just £10.46.Been looking at tons of reviews, thanks for showing it! All the best.
Great little device
I have the digital version its the HRD-701, it gets FM and you can select the range according to the country you are in, I did see 64 MHZ as the lowest mine is just around 88-108. And short wave is from around 4.8- 21.8 MHZ. I think this thing sounds very good infact the best sound I have heard from something so small. If i crank it to full volume the Amplifier doesn't even clip, sounds even better if I put it in a bookshelf as the sound seems to have a bit more bass. A friend saw mine and got me to order another as he recons it sounds better than his sony pocket radio. Weather band is non existent in Australia.
I have heard the high fidelity audio that this & similar radios produce! Seems well built with a military flair with screw construction!
@@johnbeckham1483 Well it has very good sound for it's size and if you put it in an open cupboard it sounds even better.
A single USB type C charging cable will set you back $10-20 for a good one, plus the battery is worth at least $5, so for $40 its actually not that bad considering it can do bluetooth and tf card mp3 playing. I ordered the upgraded version today, looks like an awesome little radio.
Thanks for your feedback!
thanks for the review, Dave...been wondering about this tiny radio. 73 de KO4UMY
Same here. 73s de KA4DIY
Good thing you didn't have to pay for it.
This is true for most youtube reviews
Radio is band spreaded on shortwave, 49, 41, 31, 25, 19, and 16 metre bands. Not continuous shortwave 5.7 to 17.9 MHz. Yes, it has MP-3, probably Micro SD card, a seriously underrated recording technology.
Thank you for reviewing this radio. I am looking for something to get for one of my little boys as a birthday gift, and this might just be the one.
I’m blind and have the PL - 880 and also the R-108 which I believe is the same brand as this item; I am blind and the description of this item makes it sound extremely complicated and too difficult for me to figure out! As far as the poor reception observed in the video, is this radio being plugged into the charger while you’re attempting to use it?
Dve stop calling this thing cute 😆 🤣 😂
Todderbert has a very detailed and competent review of this radio on his channel. It’s better than this review suggests.
I agree
There is also a digital version of this radio.
I think the carrying case should be a wastebasket. Boy would I be disappointed if I got that in exchange for $42!
Looks like junk to me
Replacement batteries are common and very cheap. A rarity these days.
If I was still a non-ham I would have said that sounds like an oxymoron.
"Soviet Union" lol! I can't quite tell if Dave is showing his age -- _I_ still sometimes catch myself saying 'Leningrad' when I mean St. Petersburg, say, or coming out with things like "The mood in Bonn seems to be one of - " etc., when I should, of course, be referring to 'Berlin'!
*Orrr...* Is he being _'smart',_ as we would say in my part of the World? (ie, sarcastic, 'cute'). Kinda like "Meet the 'new' Soviet Union... Same as the _old_ Soviet Union"!
For no more than 15 bucks, this will be a great radio for a budding 10 year old aspiring ham, IF.. it allows the child to hear common Ham modes of communications. I watched a little more. This is just a toy, Dave.
This channel has take a strange turn, and not in a good way
Do you think you're ever going to do the giveaway that you were talking about?
The battery is a standard Nokia size, still freely available.
Saw another review for an RF-760. It was priced at $99 but had a lot more capability. Slightly larger.
thank you!
The battery is just about as big as the radio.Might get me one of these.I have found some tiny radios work just as good as mid size ones.Put in consideration you are sitting around alot of electronics,so,esp the AM will be bad there.Great interview.Too long of a wire antenna might overload on this.I had the powerhouse Drake sw 8 and my antenna for that was around a 200 ft speaker wire thrown very high up in a tree.Picked up EVERYTHING.I got 100 ft speaker wire and pulled the 2 sections apart to make 200ft
Buenos días, como puedo obtener el articulo me interesa..Gracias
BL5C is a long time battery, about 25 years.
As I’m watching:
First, BBC never stopped broadcasting. They did re-started a couple frequencies to b’cast to Russia/Ukrain.
They still b’cast to Middle East, Far East, and Africa.
There are new stations, and many stations are doing things a bit different.
WRMI re-broadcasts several SW stations from around the world.
WTWW, Lebanon Tennessee USA - 5085 kHz: OLDIES, every night. And “Instant Requests “.
BBC CAN be heard in the US, quite well as it b’casts to other parts of the world. Same with Voice Of America.
This seems more like a novelty, to me.
This is the first time watching your channel.
📻🙂
Hi Jeff, welcome aboard and thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I can hear BBC in Brazil
I love your channel, but I expect more from a radio review beyond taking it out of the box. BTW I have the RF-760, and it was a waste of money. Except for regular broadcast FM, it sucks.
Just ordered from Amazon think wow that’s a decent sized radio with sw but OMG! That’s a dinky little thing.
Yes, it looks like something I would never be interested in! A real piece of junk. I assumed it would be in the $15-20 range, but when I saw $47! Whoa, not even a first thought, let alone a second.
I got the digital version on flea bay for around $49 AUD and got a second one for a friend for around 45. It works well for me even in a small town I get 19 FM stations. maybe the digital version makes it easier to tune but i just store them in memory.
all these radio geeks always snobs and petulant people
I got mine for $28 on EBay
The controls on the radio look awkward and week end it seems pricey for what it is.
Your shortwave info isn’t right. Try receiving 5.085 or 4.840 good luck.
Radio HDR-750?
Don't use it while charging. You won't get any AM stations, just hissing sounds. That radio is awesome. Just try not to use it while charging.
BT works fine however while charging.
I certainly wouldn't give it away. It's not worth the shipping. Your channel is much more valuable than doing these "reviews" of Chinese junk. Sorry.
It looks and sounds like a real piece of junk
I don’t own one but I’ve been looking into it and all the reviews on RUclips seem to like it for it’s price. It’s clear it’s a 40s-50s military style which isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. For $40 if you like radio it doesn’t look like a bad deal.
@@DakotahMiskus I agree.
Have you purchased one?
thats a nokia phone battery. nice. you can get bunch of them for cheap
not worth it, it is totaly useless on the ham bands that it includes as it has no BFO, also weather band is useless in the UK.
To be honest it is just another pice of chinease plastic junk.
Butchin Dave
Junk product. Nuf said!
This guy thinks the BBC is a trusted news source 😂
yeah thats what i was thinking, poor folk just dont know, believing their tvs
Don't get this. Get a CountyComm GP7-SSB.
Yet another piece of junk at twice the price
@@dronepilotflyby9481 like you know radio fool.
