EU does not want a European version of Apple or Google because they’d be too powerful. They rather create hundreds of startups (the best of which eventually get bought by American or Chinese corporations)
Europe will never be a global leader in AI and next-gen tech. The best talents rarely come here and Europeans don't have any big tech companies or even medium-sized next-gen focused companies. Better be happy for serving the Americans and the Chinese.
China is a decade behind US in AI, and China is not that ahead of Europe technically, what they have is huge amount of date and capital, Europe actually has the chance to surpass China in AI, if they seek change and implement reforms quickly and vigorously, and show their will to pour significant amount of money into it, unfortunately that's not going to happen in Europe.
Europe may face challenges in competing with America in the field of Artificial Intelligence, and some countries within Europe, such as Portugal, Greece, and Montenegro, may be perceived as lagging behind in this regard.
Good presentation, but why the hyper background noise (some might call it music). Let the content stand on its own. Scale up your efforts in AI while we scale out employment around the world as we all plow our way into this Brave New World.
Research probably has shown that if you give them background noise in a specific manner, you might be able to sway with a brain goes. Think about it the very first Star Wars soundtrack. Put you in a set of mind. It’s exactly what they’re doing here. Might even augmented reality and perception of this video. Just buy a soundtrack with certainly given sounds.

We cannot compete to US because we in EU are stuck in tribe mindsets and speak different languages across all countries with few exceptions. In order to utilize talents we have to speak the same language fluently and kick off nationalism. I am voting for English to be the main language in EU.
@@aggoor1 This is not enough. By knowing English nowadays you can get a job in international company, have clients abroad, however this doesn't make your life compfortable if you relocate to another European country due to prevalance of local languages. Plus if you have own business you have to find interpreter to promote your product in another speaking countries, hire locals in call center etc. It makes bariers for business.
Already is in the tech industry. Having different languages, traditions and identities is what enrich lives and tourism in Europe. I don't want to live in a world of clones where everybody listen the same music, looks the same, do the same things, wear the same clothes and speak about the same things. Embrace diversity and enrich your live.
@@josepoktopus8924 Everything has downside and upside. EU didn't produce any large IT company comparing to US Apple, Google, IBM, Microsoft, Facebook. We are shrinking in term of population and cannot attract talents from Asia. They r not motivated to move to EU due to language bariers, they know English and relocating to Canada, US, Australia looks much more convenient for them. I still believe there will be rooms for local actors and singers.
Europe is positioned perfectly. It has a powerful industrial and scientific base, mature economies and legislation and a diverse and well-educated population. How all this is connected to the title of the video? It is more about how some researchers use AI tech and their field of application, good for them. But I was expecting a map of most influential AI companies in the world and their models and showing where EU stands in the race . And a list of major fields where this race is brutal. Instead I get 24" minutes of blabla, law makers already focusing on restrictions - They should not worry at this pace there will be nothing to regulate from Europe. I can use Ai to do my dishwashing too how is it informative. 24 min of blabla and 0 information value. At the end, I went to ask to perplexity, Claude and bing to give me and rank the top 20 Ai European companies based on their financial value (period). I will do the same for the world. Ps. If those people expect that money from Brussels will be enough to complete in this race, they are delusional. Brussels money is just good to build a functioning mockup in order to be bought by a US company😢😢.
Then people just use AI hosted in a country that doesn't care or worse Jobs move to these countries altogether. Also AI regulation isn't about Privacy problems, they want to regulate it to not lose Influence.
Yes. We should also pay our taxes directly to these AI companies. They can use their advanced algorithms to give the governments only the amounts they deserve.
The politicians dont have a clue what they are talking, they just prolong and do what big tech compnies tell them to do. It is all about destroying the competition, and being tech hegemon of the world. The bullshiter is behind this.

I can not say that this video answers the question. Moreover, it does not really present any cutting-edge side of recent AI developments in the EU. There are much more advanced AI research and applications recently developed in Europe. Unfortunately, even in this video, there is too much bureaucracy.
Great video, however, i think that in the current climate, with the security threats posed by authocracies, it might not be a good idea for the West to disclose everything about how AI models work
Authocracies is right , the possible threat people should be the most focused on for people that are into focusing on negativity is the ONE'S that are re-authoring internet content before it's seen, under the noses of everybody using AI , anybody who thinks they are in the know about what's really going on put that in your conspiracy pipe and smoke it !

It will not be Europe...infrastructure is too lame. I live in Würzburg Germany - and we STILL have only internet DSL(50k) and they act like its an awesome thing! I can only imagine the rural areas.
europe will find its niche and will do very well in that niche but when it comes to global dominance europe will not be at the forefront of the AI technology. to be that it needs way more aggressive strategies and that is not europeans way of doing things.
Unfortunately, since AI requires vast amounts of data to function optimally, Europe's stringent data regulations may hinder its ability to compete globally. We might have to come to terms with the idea that the concept of privacy on the internet is gone, the sooner the better. Just as we accept limited visual privacy when we're in public spaces, we might need to recognize a similar shift online with regards to our information. Ultimately, it's up to individuals to determine and control what information they're comfortable sharing in this new digital landscape.
"Ultimately, it's up to individuals to determine and control what information they're comfortable sharing..." Nope. We have very little if ANY control. Do you have and use a phone? Do you have government issued IDs? Drivers license? Is a photograph of your face on those documents? Does your bank have a photograph of your face on record? These are just a few of the most blatant privacy breaches. Then there are innumerable subtle breaches which most people are not even aware of. In the US, many DMVs sell our information to data brokers. Stores are requiring a scan of your drivers license to buy things such as beer and wine, and tobacco products (even BIC lighters!). To combat this requires laws to be passed, which is done by government bodies, NOT individuals. We, as individuals, have no choice in the matter, where the only exception is to choose to not be a part of society, i.e. don't have a phone, don't use the internet for anything, don't have a bank account, don't drive a car, etc., etc.
"Ultimately, it's up to individuals to determine and control what information they're comfortable sharing in this new digital landscape." No it isn't, not when corporations have the legal right to your data, or at least no legal framework and no oversight to stop them. Without government oversight, corporations will take your data freely whether you want them to or not. 'Voting with your wallet' isn't going to solve this one. I concede that Europe will fall behind the USA and China because of their data protection policies - but their slower approach may turn out to be the winning strategy in the end. The reckless, greedy race to be first is going to wreck havoc on the American and Chinese populations.
Maybe you can compete if you start having more children. Why are you all so dense? Let's have fewer children in order to save the planet while we import resentful indigents who have dozens of kids! 😂. You've been brainwashed!
They gave up a long time ago. Remember the Privacy Shield that should protect EU citizens data, it's gone. They don't care, regulation is about staying in power. Imagine you want to get your citizens to fight in a war and unregulated AI tells your citizens that that is a bad Idea. We can't have that.
open source ai should end up supplanting big tech ai - europe will be a pivotal player - they do need more fabs, infrastructure and a closer look at how regulations could hold back efforts but they will likely overcome these issues with good planning and execution and iteration along with community cooperation - ai is in the first inning of a 9 inning game so lots can happen
the digital twin model is interesting. What happens if I do this or that. It's all good until someone says 'what happens if we forcibly remove these people or what happens if we ban X or Y' Improve for whom?!
The only players holding back on innovation here in Europe are the governments. Bureaucracy is too heavy. All kinds of taxes and small fees for everything you do, from investments to buying your first house. It is very sad and abusive.
Yeah lol, Europe trying to act like one country. Eventualy will hapen in the next 10-20 years. It's just hard to scale things in EU, due to size and regulations of other EU countries. Anyway AI will change this in my opinion, because human work would not be necessary. Viva la Europa
I think some jobs pertaining to data & social media might be affected if AI replaces these employees. And later if they actually create a robot that can take away manual jobs. I don’t think people in future would invest in robotic companies that create products that would make US obsolete…maybe good if EU regulations are in place to limit it. I think being uncompetitive should not be a problem if the alternative is avoid extinction of the human race. What would jobless people do with no income & no spending capacity. A robot doesn’t NEED food, tampons, beer, bikinis, sneakers, cookies etc etc etc what would these retail & fmcg & manufacturing companies do :O
Yes, Artificial Intelligence propaganda is massive now and is obviously going to cause a lot of problems and opportunities. Tech companies and IT engineers are very ambitious and they will obviously ride the AI wave to expand their power and capture more and more public money. But this will not mean an improvement in the lives of ordinary people. Most likely, the opposite will happen. In Brazil, the public social security agency is using AI to evaluate benefit claims. As a result, claims are immediately rejected without careful review of the documentation, and the aggrieved cannot renew the claim for an extended period. The algorithm speeds up the decision, but does not improve the quality of what will be decided. The thing became so scandalous that the new system adopted by the public social security agency will result in an avalanche of new lawsuits from the injured people causing an accumulation of new work in the Judiciary.
Trust is a word criminals use to get away with criminal things.
Never blindly trust anyone who has power over you.

EU does not want a European version of Apple or Google because they’d be too powerful. They rather create hundreds of startups (the best of which eventually get bought by American or Chinese corporations)
Hello Skynet
Europe's regulation on AI may hinder progress, in my opinion.
working with AI in EU it's like trying to build democracy in North Korea
great vid
Thanks for watching!
In the EU the focus is smart cities and hard regulation.
In the US the focus is AGI and the companies are asking the govt to regulate 😂
Privacy issue within W Europe a hindrance to AI development
Good
I hope EU's AI regulation won't be like the pointless privacy regulation: forcing websites to constantly pop up annoying cookie consent requests ...
@6:25 Very interesting that the lady presented herself as Mrs Handschuh, while putting on gloves :) [ Handschuh is the German word for gloves]
How nice that someone noticed it. 🙂 That was no accident.
The journalist is so pretty ❤
Europe will never be a global leader in AI and next-gen tech. The best talents rarely come here and Europeans don't have any big tech companies or even medium-sized next-gen focused companies. Better be happy for serving the Americans and the Chinese.
Wtf is a kilometer … said the American 😢
It will not be successful in US either, they are doing it only for the sake of china bcs if they dont, china will surpass them.
Stay way from the Americans and chinese
China is a decade behind US in AI, and China is not that ahead of Europe technically, what they have is huge amount of date and capital, Europe actually has the chance to surpass China in AI, if they seek change and implement reforms quickly and vigorously, and show their will to pour significant amount of money into it, unfortunately that's not going to happen in Europe.
@@JigilJigil its only in research but in actual use of AI, both US and EU are way behind china.
We are one year behind and it is not too late 😂.
She has no clue what means winner takes all.
It's all about the money. The US simply has larger and more dynamic capital markets than anyone else.
uh China is a strong competitor as well
Europe may face challenges in competing with America in the field of Artificial Intelligence, and some countries within Europe, such as Portugal, Greece, and Montenegro, may be perceived as lagging behind in this regard.
We have given Muslims 🛐 the right to live in their own countries. But in Pakistan our 12 ⛪ Churches, 15 Christian homes 🏡 many Bible books📘were burnt. Why are Christians silent today? Where is the human rights? Men never do evil so completely and cheerfully as when they do it from religious conviction. Thanks🙏

We cannot compete to US because we in EU are stuck in tribe mindsets and speak different languages across all countries with few exceptions. In order to utilize talents we have to speak the same language fluently and kick off nationalism. I am voting for English to be the main language in EU.
But now English must have if you want a good job. So smart people speak English.
It's like Americans visiting another country and eating in a McDonald's or Starbucks.
It takes full advantage of the AI, Quantum Freedom Computing revolution to lead the world in delivering tangible positive outcomes for its population.
@16:08 Bulgaria seems safe. In Germany, if you leave your bike like this unlocked and unattended, it is stolen within 4 mins and 57 seconds.
as an urban planning student in Kenya, seeing this makes me know that AI has replaced our jobs
Bulgaria - Urban planning "twin" simulator; Poland- Automated Cancer Chemotherapy Assay testing; EU GATE - DNA genome sequencing disease analysis and monitor privacy protections; EU INSAIT - federated data services (AI driven data sharing and network security)
The background sound track is far too loud and distracts from the content, which is a shame
WINNER BEST COMMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
True
Europe will never ever ever be a significant player in AI. It's not going to happen under unelected bureaucrats who value privacy above innovation.

Canada is going to be the number one in this.
AI have to be regulated and data sets should be disclosed. Hope to see US step up with regulations soon
Then people just use AI hosted in a country that doesn't care or worse Jobs move to these countries altogether. Also AI regulation isn't about Privacy problems, they want to regulate it to not lose Influence.
Regulations are ignored by the powerful and followed by the weak.
This is the type of mentality that is going to get the European A.I companies destroyed or absorbed by the American and Chinese companies.
All world government should give more freedom to AI companies , and World needs educated politicians!
Yes. We should also pay our taxes directly to these AI companies.
They can use their advanced algorithms to give the governments only the amounts they deserve.
AI government

The politicians dont have a clue what they are talking, they just prolong and do what big tech compnies tell them to do. It is all about destroying the competition, and being tech hegemon of the world. The bullshiter is behind this.
"Compete" is the wrong word.
Europe should collaborate with United States in A.I.
Great documentary as always 👍.
Thanks for watching and for the feedback!

good
I can not say that this video answers the question. Moreover, it does not really present any cutting-edge side of recent AI developments in the EU. There are much more advanced AI research and applications recently developed in Europe. Unfortunately, even in this video, there is too much bureaucracy.
"There are much more advanced AI research and applications recently developed in Europe." - can you give an example?
Great video, however, i think that in the current climate, with the security threats posed by authocracies, it might not be a good idea for the West to disclose everything about how AI models work
Authocracies is right , the possible threat people should be the most focused on for people that are into focusing on negativity is the ONE'S that are re-authoring internet content before it's seen, under the noses of everybody using AI , anybody who thinks they are in the know about what's really going on put that in your conspiracy pipe and smoke it !
China breaks rules first, then develop AI. EU sets up rules first, then try to catch up. God luck and God blessed.
i am sorry but US broke the rules with the ChatGTP and all others scraping the internet. Dont be so brainwashed...

I think, we can agree that Europe is a bit behind the curve.
Well - in case of AI - that could well mean -> *forever*
No, because Europe is already hard at work regulating it to death.
Good
@@ErikaWelindt-cs6uz Yes, great news for US and China.

Europe can’t compete because the data protection
Europe is out of AI race.
No, Europe cannot compete. Europe is falling behind, and there are no big tech companies.
It will not be Europe...infrastructure is too lame. I live in Würzburg Germany - and we STILL have only internet DSL(50k) and they act like its an awesome thing! I can only imagine the rural areas.
simply becos Europe is still way too divided,
meanwhile, what AI tech need the most, is massive data ......
What if we had an AI president to make decisions for us.
So it would serve AI Citizens not us, “Make AI forever great “ might be slogan for AI president by the way😂

Singularity is one of my favorite fortnite skin.
we would be a utopia run by lgbq...according to AI
europe will find its niche and will do very well in that niche but when it comes to global dominance europe will not be at the forefront of the AI technology. to be that it needs way more aggressive strategies and that is not europeans way of doing things.
I agree. I used to be big on privacy, but now I realized living an un private really doesn’t make a difference
Europe is way behind compared to China and the USA in AI!!
open source ai should end up supplanting big tech ai - europe will be a pivotal player - they do need more fabs, infrastructure and a closer look at how regulations could hold back efforts but they will likely overcome these issues with good planning and execution and iteration along with community cooperation - ai is in the first inning of a 9 inning game so lots can happen
I see those that don't want AI to be regulated by government, as children who don't want to be reprimended and guided by parents.
😩 where the data A.I plssss
the digital twin model is interesting.
A robot doesn’t NEED food, tampons, beer, bikinis, sneakers, cookies etc etc etc what would these retail & fmcg & manufacturing companies do :O
thats what slow down EU- over considering systematic approach, safety and rules perfectionism... obviously too much of german influence
