Your information is contradictory. You said bank statement required to apply residence permit but to open a bank account you need residence permit. Doesn't make sens.
Not important, Soggiorno and Codice fiscale is what you will be needing every where, but it is useful to have Carta di identità as it is issued for 10years straight and high level document of Italy.
You need to be emotional strong but it is very normal to feel a bit lonely in initial days, but after that you can make friends and start exploring near country and start exploring learn their culture.
