Bro, cinematic videos are good, but the coolest videos are your rides in vlog format. The whole day is like a chronology, especially with a cool team like Muskoka and Turcotte 😃🤘🔥
If you’re looking to make your first trip to the mountains. I wouldn’t recommend it. 90% of the conversions with people I meet in town here go “it’s our first time here and all we found was tracks” and they’re not super stoked. I’m not saying this in the typical “stay outta my town” mentality It’s in the snowmobile community’s best interest for newer riders to have the best experience possible.
I will agree with you Matt. I have been to Revy a few times and it is intimidating. For a first trip to the mountains I would recommend Golden, still big mountains but easier for a first timer. Being from Ontario, I had that typical 'I know how to ride' attitude, the only thing quicker than me running out of talent was running out of breath.
My first trip to revelstoke my thoughts were that lol why does everyone like this place lol but snow sucked when we were there , and didn’t have the experience to go where you guys go ha ha ha so of course where we went it was tracked hard lol , so we went to golden and snow was way better there ,
I agree and the most people possible should have good experience. Used to have a stay out of my town mentality but I changed my tune. really the parking lot seemed to ever be the only issue. Smithers BC has a lot of riding area and A local could always find untracked snow. Never been to Revy but Smithers Is amazing.
For sure, just because it is imo the best riding doesn't mean everyone should go there. Island Park and West Yellowstone are great places for newer backcountry riders that will likely provide a better experience. My favorite day of the year was riding in Colorado with Chris Burandt. Lots of killer experiences to be had all over the country
One of the things I'm most jealous of is the community behind sledding up there. In Colorado a vast majority of the people hate the fact we even put tracks on their pristine mountains. And that's even after 90% of it has been made off limits to us.
My biggest take away was the description of the snow. If one tries banging boulder fields everywhere, they would have a very bad day. Thank you for sharing.
Revy is busy, too busy. Too many guys think they’re a pro rider b/c they buy a go pro tarp strap a shovel to the tunnel and move to Revy. I’d rather do Mcbride or Blue River. Be awesome to see some content with u rippin’ er up with Jamie in Blue!
Your videos have become next level ! from the way you showcased the build of your sled , to the filming of your rides ! its been awesome ! it is super cool that you have memories of Revy as a young kid , I am born and raised an hr away from there and cant agree with you more , Revy has it all . This coming from the best rider in the world ! kind of says it all ! your friken awesome !! cheers !
Seeley definitely has one of the best dinner options around at Lindey's! I've thought about driving there during the summer from western Washington just for dinner😂.
Well, Revy's been getting feet of snow pretty much every week since mid November... meanwhile more southern areas don't have crap. And it's looking like the rest of January is going to be dry with warm weather, so what snow we have will be gone. It's last year all over again.... actually, it's worse.
Love this video, great work man and great commentary. I’ll be at Grizzly early February. Hoping Revy will be my next trip after I get some BC riding in under my belt with a guide.
I’ve always wanted to come ride the area but coming from the Yukon with totally different snow type has always made me scared of the terrain. Great video.
Based on what you’ve said I would agree and I’ve never been there. I started learning MT riding at 44 and at 11,000 in Wyoming. My spirit is there but there’s not a lot of wind in my lungs up there to make me want to push myself to learn aggressive riding.
Revy is amazing no question, your right on point here. I live in Calgary and can't complain to you about travel time to get out there, lol. Sledding is getting crazy expensive between machines, insurance, fuel, hotels and food (not to mention any damages sustained). It's getting hard to justify $1000 weekends to the wife/myself these days and find I get out a lot less nowadays. Thanks for the content, makes me feel like I'm doing more than I am.
Buy a used good trailer, insulate it, set up some heaters, avoid the expensive hotels, stay in the trailer. It is costly to get set up but will pay for itself over the next ten years. Most fueling up spots with cardlocks have access to showers, use cardlocks as it will save money on fuel, pre cook and freeze all your food, warm up want you want and you will save 1/2 of what a trip costs without a trailer.
@@432forabettertime6 I think that's a great idea. I carry 6 cans of diesel and 6 cans of premium in the back of my truck to avoid BC fuel prices (driving a bomb down the roads, lol!). I had an insulated trailer (16') with a diesel heater in it a couple years ago (sold it) but never thought to stay in it, didn't realize I could shower at cardlocks, brush my teeth, etc. I have a generator, electric frying pan ... Crap, I might need to look at this again, lol! Thanks for the idea!
Agreed it’s absolutely amazing, could you explain how you set the clutching up for such elevation changes.?Thanks Caleb for your team and hard work at teaching and entertainment through out the winter 😊
Have you ever rode Thompson Pass in Alaska? Huge variety of terrain. And a lot of riding areas. Your description of Revy reminds me of Thompson Pass, plus Valdez has that awesome small town feel.
Bc is spectacular for all things mountain. Wish I could love there. Funny how when I was young I didn’t care much about Canada now I’d much rather be Canadian than American.
Really good presentation on the most epic place! I'm in rural Southcentral coastal Alaska & we're so limited here & always with changing/variable conditions. Why don't you like the Ti springs?
Revy has been over populated with sleds for the last 15 years, but know doubt they have the best snow and variety of riding. I have been riding 35 years in Can and USA. Revy snow and the amount of snow is the best. Caleb is the best aggressive rider out there.
Every time I make it anywhere in BC I just feel so damn small. Amazing country. I wish Montana had more like it lol. Especially here in great falls 😂😂😂
They were the same spring rate but they felt weird. The rebound wasn't the same feel. I had something weird going on with my steering post though, I might try the Ti springs again soon
Personally, I really enjoy you/your team’s efforts to a more “cinematic” approach for your vids. Sure, vlogs, especially while riding (kinda like muskoka) are very entertaining IF you are a charismatic/funny/interesting person and have a good riding group to banter with. But IMHO, it’s a bit of an over saturated market(not just in snowmobiling). Too many “influencers” spend too much time trying to be entertaining rather than just being genuine. Matt does this very well which is why his channel is so successful. That and adding plenty of variety with shot placements, errors in riding that result in stucks (I’m kinda pokin you directly here Caleb 😉), really help not only “tell the story” but also humanize advanced/expert level riders so we, the mere mortals in this sport, can see y’all make mistakes too! If I may offer one thing I’d love to see more than anything from you, it would be some FPV drone shots when rallying through the trees. It’s such a cool perspective as a viewer, and really helps to break up the monotony seen in a lot of YT sports vids out there. That, plus with a bit of collaboration/strategizing with your drone operator, they can place a drone in a spot that you can “fly by” creating that wonderful “drive by” shot that is under utilized in the sled video community. As far as your reasons why revel is the best…I haven’t ridden there yet but your reasons seem pretty spot on to me. I’ve finally found an epic mountain range that’s only 2 hours from me (I’m in SW MT) and has most of the 5 things you love about revelstoke (except the elevation). It’s crazy there: for some reason, this particular mountain range gets absolutely hammered by snow…and yet very few people ride it so even the areas that get tracked out quick by novice riders often stay untracked for days after a dump. Lastly, to the editor: Damn good job buddy. I know you are often overlooked and under appreciated in films, but I noticed! If I may offer one critique it’d be to bump up the volume of the sled during music portions about 5-10%. I like the music, but that beautiful 2 stroke sound shouldn’t be stifled quite that much! Take care y’all and be safe-ish out there!
Matt does a really good job with his vlogs, I think that's why he's been more successful than anyone else. I agree they feel a bit over-saturated in the industry. It's also not the style of content I enjoy creating compared to something like this video FPV shots like that would be amazing. I need to find a good pilot to colab with on that project A lot of places have a lot of those reasons. So many rad places to ride in the world
@ not to mention dedication. Unfortunately, the way YT is set up, you have to feed that algorithm like it’s a baby bird to stay relevant and grow one’s channel, and matt has done a damn good job of that too! I used to make vids, but filming, creating/finding storylines, then going back and editing it all became too much of a burden. Now I just like to help other folks in the YT community with cinema, sometimes working in editing too. I find it much more enjoyable and satisfying to stay behind the lens and help others in their pursuits. That and I’m a social butterfly so meeting/hangin with new people is a huge perk too.
I like the new style of videos! No one is really doing that right now. I really appreciate your info sharing on sled setup, how to videos, and limping broken sleds out of the bush. I can’t agree more about Revelstoke. I have been combining heli-boarding, resort snowboarding, and epic snowmobiling together on the same trip for 7 years in a row now road tripping from Oregon. The place basically has it all and the vibe is straight up fun! Hit the local high school hockey games at night to is a blast 👍

Here in southcentral coastal Alaska we don't even have snow hardly at the tops of the mountains. Temp's in the upper 40's.
@@FaithandActiondotnet Now that's just messed up in so many ways. Alaska should have the most snow!!
@@robgoffroad This is a season like we had twice 10 years ago where it was in the 50's in January here while it was snowing in north Florida. Weird.
Seeley actually has a ton of snow right now. I think it's deeper than Revy at the moment
