As a live sound engineer (well...will be again once venues aren't closed up, that is), this is super exciting. Price point is amazing, considering Dante compatibility, and digitally controlled analog is pretty much the best of both worlds. Now to get this added to productions budgets...
Hahah, the bar I do sound on call at downtown still uses an old 10 ch mackie, and has about 4 mics and 3 cables. I always lug down all my own mics, cables, pre's, etc.
These would be awesome for remote recording truck over Dante. Also it would be REALLY cool if things like gain, phantom power could be controlled right from a console such as Yamaha CL5. I was beyond amazed when I setup our Shure AD wireless mics for remote control right on the console. It can be done!
Can I use this with my Apollo Twin X? I want to use this thing's preamp and converters while still being able to use the Apollo plug-ins. Would love some help.
The Apollo X8 has a DB25 connector on the back so all you need is a DB25 to DB25 cable. If you have extra gear you need to patch into the Apollo a slick way would be to get a DB25 Patchbay and connect them to the back and then you can easily patch anything in your studio to the Apollo. I find it strange that they didn't put a ADAT slot on the back of the Neve considering it's 8 channels just like ADAT. Standalone ADAT converters are hard to find. Most come with built in preamps. Maybe they will bring out an ADAT card for the Neve, who knows, it should come with ADAT by default though. Many small interfaces just have ADAT but lack other extra inputs, like my Apollo Twin
Hi , so they r using this new Tech USB lol ? Is it USB 3.0 ? Usb Type C ? No Thunderbolt ? will they be doing thunderbolt in the future ? thats posible right > ? Looks Awesome I want to try it,
Nice to see. Thought it would be twice the price considering what the 1073 lunchbox unit costs. Hey Vintage King, how about this: Do a “signature sound” blindtest between a few of the more prominent pre-amps on the market and see how that turns out. No cheating allowed.
The mic pre's sound great, but they are a little too clean if you want a 1073 sound. It has a family 1073 sound but it lacks the color and weight you would expect.
oof if it had Thunderbolt 3 instead of USB and it had inserts between the pres and the converters would have been perfect! still drooling all over it... they should do full feature 8/16 channel interfaces (just the converters and a comprehensive stereo monitor section) without preamps (if I want neve pres I can choose how many 1073LB and 88RLB modules I want in the 500 series platform).
it's a weird in-between product, it lacks features to be the perfect interface (comprehensive stereo monitor section and thunderbolt 3 for lowest RTL) but also lacks features to be the perfect 8 channel pre/ADC box (Adat and AES) to expand a system/interface I already own for example (connect to an apollo twin x using adat)
The dante/usb/word clock is a optional card, the box itself doesn't do any conversion. They can probably make card with a thunderbolt later if it makes sense.
Amazing, but way out of reach for home studio use - in terms of price point. I could probably convince my wife to let me spring for it, but I would most likely have to start selling body fluids and maybe one problem child. lol I do realize this technology is not cheap, so I understand the price point, just can't afford it.
This thing is a game changer... 8 freaking 1073 pres!!! omg
This plus A BADASS interface you don't need a console...

Amazing and long overdue, now they have to do a 1081in this 8pre format
The price point here is insane
So you can't trim the output at all? What if I wanted to drive the pre without clipping my converter?
I know a few of my friends will add this to their arsenal!! Along with myself.
This is amazing ! I am curious as to how much the sound will be without the output transformer compared tot he 1073 units that do have it

Neve 1073OPX vs. Focusrite ISA 828 Mkll..with Dante card who would win (Godzilla vs. Mothra )
Rupert designed both of these pre’s..
Could this be paired with a universal audio x16 or x8?
Can you label the channels in the software?
This may be a dumb question, but is there no output trims for each channel or is that something that will be done in software or?

Looks like an amazing product
How would you integrate this with a Universal Audio Apollo X8P as the interface? The price point on this fantastic.
I would use the USB port and use that as your audio interface. Skip the Apollo and use the USB port instead. The AD conversion is much better.
I'm hoping there's an ADAT expansion card offered at some point.
Use a DB25 to Trs cable through the line inputs of the interface
Maybe use them both. The 1073OPX using its USB connectivity should work properly in parallell?

Can we do daisy chain in this model
Needed Thunderbolt and inserts on each channel. USB is slow and too much latency to be used as an interface..... :-(
Comes with an IO card for another thousand bucks, I’m guessing pretty much solves that problem...

This looks amazing :O
Metering?
So much back panel real estate. No Inserts?
WOW
My guy have Vintage camera too

Awe Some....
how much will this cost?????? if it is more than a car... then i dont care
Hang on.. this could be used also as a summing box?.............. Fk yeh
$3700.00US $4300.00US with IO card...
