I'm jealous. My dance instructor years ago managed a modern dance company. That was the least desirable dance for me but what was available. She one day brought in 2 of her professional dancers she said was behind for a show and made them practice in front of us students during our class time and tore them to shreds as they rehearsed. She told them they belonged in the beginner classes with us and yelled non stop critique and insults. The girl was crying nearly through out and the guys face was pissed and he was very rigid with anger which likely made it worst. But they never talked back to the instructor. They wanted to do the performances at the capital that bad that they took the humiliation.
Love the scene where they are icing sore muscles... shows how gosh durn hard they work!! And, just seeing those blocks with the well-worn sides makes you realize how many Rockettes have learned that same choreography... beautiful!
They seem so much nicer than regular dance teachers let alone judges for an audition and they’re the teachers for the rockettes I wish I had teachers who built me up and weren’t rooting for me to fail lol
I know. I don’t know why people think mean teachers are what keep us disciplined, because for me, a nice coach who I can get along with helps more. The respect I give them is returned, and I love that.
It’s really cool to see technically skilled dancers acquire this whole other level of precision and synchrony. You can really see the difference as the week(s?) go on
Want to thank ALL the Rockettes, past, present & future for all their dedication to making the Rockefeller Center Show enterprise such an iconic legend of New York City!! I love watching it! Pure magic!! Bravo!! 🥰❤
Oh my gosh Dee!!! I saw her in one of the Finding Neverland tours; she was amazing and so nice when I met her at the stage door! Best wishes to her for this season at Radio City 😊😊🎄🎄
I cant believe its close to the season for this i looovveee the rockettes there like the top notch and Snazzyy for the dance world and i love it! Always saw myself with them when i was alil girl cant wait for this jolly season
Fun fact: I went to school with Britain Feeney. She was a junior when I started my sixth grade year at the school, I did two shows with her. And her sister was in my grade and we were both in the same dance class for a few years!! Much love to you Brit!! We miss you!!!💕
As a very young child when I saw the Rockettes I wanted to be one I was just not tall enough. And I watch them every year at the Macy's day parade and the Christmas special I think they are phenomenal.
If i were a dancer in this setting, that grid work would be the cake part. I did high precision marching band for 8 years after 4 years of high school marching band. All I know is a grid marking and formations. Color guard lovelies would understand that grid setup too. If you watch a indoor marching band special called Blast which was on broadway in 2001 (also has a dvd), ir shows how that grid works from sometimes and overhead view to really see how those formations come together with a full ensemble.
Have you thought about posting more choreography tutorials like the "New York at Christmas" one from 2020? It's a great festive workout for the holiday season, and it would be nice to have more. :)
it would not work to have all body types -- and nothing wrong with having all women -- but if you think a kickline will work with all body types and male and females -- good luck to you starting a troupe 🙂
@@moonbread2334 a kickline of their caliber would not be the same if you had women of all weights and sizes -- in case you haven't noticed they are precise in their lines and heavy women would bring their neighbors down along with them...just a fact of life...
Do you monitor for eating disorders too? The artist and musician in me is love with what they do. The former marching band pit orchestra performer, loves it ALL. The nurse in me, wonders if the need to look uniform and "perfect" could cause a lot of eating disorders. Are you assessing this too I pray?
I love how diverse the Rockettes have become. My dance instructor many many years ago was one

Yeah it seems so fun to work with them even if you don’t make it

Would love to see the Rockettes someday welcome all genders and all body types
