I cut out alcohol 🍷, sugary food 🥘 like deserts, higher protein, more water 💦, walking at lunch break, 3 times a week home fitness workout plus gym with weights. I’m working on losing 10kgs
Hi have you ever tried out herbal medication it worked for me perfectly by getting rid of my endometriosis, pcos and my infertility issues with no side effects whatsoever with the help of Dr Mabosa Herbal on RUclips i highly recommend him he can help you check him out lot of testimonies I’m a living testimony
I haven’t had alcohol in 10 years, I don’t eat wheat or any sweets, exercise almost daily, on my feet 16 hrs a day, and my fit 9 yr old eats more than me… nope, doesn’t work! 😂 I still gain weight now that I am 40. 🙄
Boy you are so right! I’m 54 and I will tell you, losing weight at 30 and even 40 was soooo much easier than it is now. And when you do, your body still does not look the same as 10 yrs ago because of the muscle loss. I’ve lost 78lbs since Aug and I’m not sure I’m particularly excited about my less than firm behind or my sagging neck! I do feel better, heading to the gym after work makes me feel better and the food I eat has helped tremendously! But take my advice and get to where you want to be NOW and keep yourself there!! (Weight/fitness, etc). Get to your MD and discuss hormones, your hair, skin, everything will thank you later. Hormones control everything in our bodies!
Thanks for this video. I am going to have my hormones checked. I am a muscular woman turned 41 this year and I am holding on to 7 pounds. I haven’t changed anything except my workout routine and for the past two months I can’t lose the 7 pounds it’s driving me insane. I eat clean and workout and have kept the same routine since 2017. I am at a loss
Yes, I'm 54 and about 16 months ago I suddenly started gaining weight and for the first time couldn't lose it. 10lbs now. Running is super hard work and does nothing other than tire me out. I joined a gym Feb 2019 and did HIIT and strength 4-5 times a week and my functional fitness really improved. It was great but then the group classes ended due to the virus restrictions. Hopefully they will start back up and I can rejoin in the autumn. I have lost way too much muscle and getting stronger helped me to feel stronger (even with my extra fat layers!)
Im 47 and it feels like there is NO room for a single vice. If I eat any bread, or chocolate I pick up weight immediately. Luckily it shifts quickly too - if I live like an absolute monk and exercise daily. It's not easy though.
Yes. I sometimes think I can have a few chocolate chips... But nope. I just need to accept that I cannot eat that stuff. I brush my teeth throughout the day (less likely to want junk food) + drink water/tea. Nothing to tastes as good as aging beautifully. (I tell myself) I'm 49
Thank you for posting this. As a 46 year old who used to run half marathons I have seen a huge change in my body from my mid 30s to mid 40s. I can totally agree that there is a huge change at least for women in those years. And it is hard not to compare to and not to expect my body to do what it used to do. It is really a process and something I deal with everyday but as you mentioned, it is about a balance of nutrition, exercise, stress management, and hormones. And about accepting the changes.
Thank you, I’m 42 and I was in denial. I used to fast for 72 hours and look amazing. I would eat one salad a day a few years ago. Now I’m wondering why I can’t seem to drop a simple 20lbs! I have to rethink this entire thing. 140lbs - goal weight 120.
I totally agree with you, after giving birth to my last baby at 39 i couldn't lose weight like i did so easily, after my previous pregnancies inspite of all the exercises. Now, i am 42 and its even more difficult.
I will be 50 in a few months and it seems I am dealing with a new me every few months since I turned 40 . I have also noticed my viewpoint determines rather the changes are going to affect me positively or negatively. I feel like life is a voyage instead of a journey .
Thank you for such an inspiring and informative video. I am 72 years old and follow most of your exercise videos for my body. Yes I am carrying a bit more weight than 30 years ago but would like to say you are never too old to keep learning. Thank you
Thank you for this❤️. I was actually doing great going into my 50’s- fitness and eating- then a stressful move and new job created havoc on my body. I retired last year and started taking better care of myself. I found everything you are saying to be true. I’m so thankful that I was able to subscribe to your unlimited program. At 62, I can not do the same rigorous workouts as I used to do. The Pilates and weight workouts have been so helpful. I’ve also found a free fitness app to log my food to watch the nutritional value of my diet is very helpful. It connects with my watch so it also logs the daily workouts and keeps me in check. But as you said-give yourself and your body grace- consider all you and your body has done and accomplished and embrace yourself as you age❤️
12,000 steps a day and I sleep like a 23 year old. My body has adapted to that level of activity so it probably doesn't burn that many calories, but I don't care.
I agree with everything :) All of those things are the key to feeling good in and out: Everyday movement, enough of sleep and healthy, nutritious foods. It will make you feel great inside and out. I manage to developed discipline and healthy life style over last few years and I feel good and proud of it.
I'm 56 and my body has really changed. I make it a point to move at least 15 minutes plus per day. I do yoga, walk, different videos, pilates, dance...and I keep my calories to 1350 day. The weight is very slowly moving off...I was always 140 and I just can't take even 5 lbs off now. Very frustrating. I probably need to get my hormones checked. I don't want to go on HRT. I have too many health issues. Sleep is not easy for me...so maybe that's it. Stress has been tough also. I guess we just have to do the best we can do.
Such a catch 22 as we get older with what and how much we can eat. Ugh. Also even more difficult if we have poor eating habits, like late night snacking or emotional eating. Those habits catch up with us as we get older too. That's why it's so important to learn to remove those poor habits from your subconscious so you can get eating under control and relieve stress. Thanks for the tips on hormones...definitely will check that out.
I’m 44 and I am having a very hard time losing weight. I feel as though I’m all over the place. 1. Household full of junk foods 2. Stress 3. Too tired to exercise 4. Lack of sleep 5. Being vegetarian (may not be getting enough protein) 6. Boredom (causes me to eat unhealthy at times) UGH 😫
Everything changes! Our needs change but it's possible! I am 42 and this is the slimmest I've ever been. It didn't happen overnight and maybe it helps that I'm not a mom but with a good plan customized to you, you can do it!
Such a great science backed breakdown, I enjoyed it and learned a lot. I especially liked you emphasizing that too few calories an be just as bad. Great educational video thank you so much :)
I just found your channel - yeah! Looking forward to trying your Pilates workouts. I have a feeling you are my kind of person as you’re wearing my favorite color 💜.
Till 42, 3 days of portion control and more water intake use to be my magic strategy for quick fixes….now at 46, nothing seems to help satisfactorily despite lean diet and one hour of regular low intensity aerobics. My muscles toned up slightly but no reduction in size whatsoever…woe!!!😢
What type of practitioner did you go to to check your hormone levels? Was it your regular OB or do you go to a naturopath or a specialist? I'm at a loss of where to get tested. Currently I'm taking estradiol and progesterone through OB, but I was never tested to see what my hormone levels are and I don't even know where to begin 🙏 I'm currently 49 years old and I have been in menopause for at least a year now with no cycle. My sleep is affected as well as about 20 lb of unwanted weight gain despite a healthy vegetarian diet for over 20 years and regular exercise.
I went to the nutritionist and got a meal plan set up. I am on a 1200-calorie diet. I lift weights 3 times a week, and walk an hour every day. I don't drink anything except water, black coffee, or black tea. I don't have alcohol or sugar. I sleep well. And I haven't been able to lose a single gram.
Thanks for this. It makes perfect sense the way you explain it. I am unsure how to balance hormones though. I’m in the UK and I don’t think that we have any type of service to balance hormones.
Thanks Jessica! When you spoke about holding on to stress, I felt as though I may be doing that as well. Just found your channel today and subscribed 💗😊
Thank you for this video, Jessica. Although I went into menopause at the age of 43, I never had a problem to loose weight until this lockdown came last year. My gym closed and I was just staying home and eating chocolate and cookies (my favorite). I don't like to go for walks by myself. Within the past year I sure gained losts of weight and being 63 years old it is very hard to get rid of. I also understand that a woman needs about 2 grams of protein per day which is contained in a handful of Brazilian nuts.... and on top of that it's the healthiest kind of protein. I've been studying the Books by Anthony William in which he also explains on many diseases, where they are coming from etc.
I just turn 40. Seven months ago I stopped eating processed foods, artificial sweeteners, soda, peanut butter, dairy and gluten. I have been walking an hour every day. I do weightlifting 2 times a week. I am not losing weight. I have been overweight since my 20's. I focus on quality protein, a lot of vegetables and honey. I just don't know what else to do . It is so frustrating.
I hear your pain. There are so many factors involved in weight loss. Have you thought about working with a nutritionist? They can tailor a plan taking into consideration everything you have going on. It's hard to figure this out by ourselves.
Im 40 i work out 3 times a week (yoga, pilates, core and weights) plus i survive on broccoli, chicken, greens, quinoa and little bread or rice. I sleep about 6 hrs a night if im lucky since i have a 3 year old and a 8 month old.....results: I either stay the same or gain more weight its SO frustrating im even considering lipo ...thanks for your video makes me feel better and ill check my 5:59min hormones im sure they are in chaos now 😅
I work with a specialist to test my exact levels and then do other things for estrogen management such as only organic meat, no plastics, no parabens, etc.
You say you worked on your hormone balance but gave no info about HRT. HRT needs talked about way more in the female community. It can absolutely improve your life more then anything else ever will if below ranges.
I’ve always been thin without trying. I didn’t eat a lot just small meals throughout the day but I coho eat half a dark chocolate bar with zero issues. Now, over the last 2 years at 39 and after weaning my son, I gained weight. My hormones went crazy and I was doijg morning fasting and I think it hurt my metabolism and also probably getting closer to 40. I feel the extra 20 pounds and don’t feel great, but haven’t been able to lose it with exercise. I’m now tracking calories and with chocolate it would add way to many, so I have to cut that out and replace it with nutrient rich foods. I hope I can lose in
Can you share how you balance your hormones? What type of hormone replacement do you take? What doctor are you using, is it endocrinologist or other? Did your thyroid hormones change after hysterectomy? My hormones out of balance but my doctor wont do anything about it. I am already eating clean diet and exercise but it doesn't help.
Hi Jessica thank you for the information you share on your channel! I just had a hysterectomy with removal of everything except my ovaries a little over 3 weeks ago. I hope to feel more energetic and able to get myself healthy again.
I just found ur video for decide what to do. Im age 45 157cm 53kg now size 6 , was on size 4 - 49kg 5 years ago after gave birth C section for my second i could loose the weight anymore, i got lazy body also not interest sexual and i don't eat too much but i sleep a lot.. just an americano coffee ..im searching for get my body back with pilates ...im not satisfield and want back to size 4 cause im still keeping the clothes what a motivation ^^. Im totally begginer on this but the comments bellow made run for an academy right way. Thankyou!
Wish I had yoyr body! I had no issues with weight, but joe as I get older something changed. I was intermediate fasting and had so much hormonal issue when weaning my son from breastfeeding and gained 10 pounds that year. I’ve gone up another 10! I was skinny then, but now I feel more weight on my butt and a dining than I’d like!! I need to prioritize strength training, and cut out the sweets. I eat to many sweets! You have a wonderful body, that’s my goal!
Jessica, did you have a vhs pilates video with avon in the early 2000s ?? Like around 2002 - 2004? I cant remember exactly what year but I know it was between those years I purchased it in an avon book. Just wondering.
I have a question in terms of eating animal proteins. There's a huge fight on whether or not if that is good for us or not? They keep saying that everyone should be on a plant based diet? Is that true in our case as women going through this stage in our lives? Sleep for me is not the problem lately for me. I sleep like a log and when I need to get up lately... I feel like I'm waking up from a damn coma lately. lol
I'm 39 and I'm here to prepare in advance. Ha ha! :D I started when I was 21 and I've been able to maintain between a size UK 10 - 12 95% of the time since, now I want to fight tooth and nail to get back down to a 10 again. Thanks so much for the motivation. ^_^
40 year old Ellen back here, but I'm still a size 10, dropped to a 28 and a half inch waist, have cut the number of hours I spend sitting a day down to the recommended 'less than 4', and am at Week 6 of Couch To Five K.

I work with a functional medicine specialist who has tested my levels and uses natural herbs and supplements to correct any imbalances.
@@JessicaValantPilates What kind of herbs or supplements do you use please?
Hi Jessica thank you for the information you share on your channel! I just had a hysterectomy with removal of everything except my ovaries a little over 3 weeks ago. I hope to feel more energetic and able to get myself healthy again.
My best on your recovery!
So glad I am not the only one experiencing this. Great info!

I thought when we take more protein, we will gain weight. Can I take the protein in powder form I'm seeing at mall to get slimmer?❤
Great video! Very informative!
thank you for the video
Jessica, did you have a vhs pilates video with avon in the early 2000s ?? Like around 2002 - 2004? I cant remember exactly what year but I know it was between those years I purchased it in an avon book. Just wondering.
Thanks very much
Thank you Jessica, so useful
I have a question in terms of eating animal proteins. There's a huge fight on whether or not if that is good for us or not? They keep saying that everyone should be on a plant based diet? Is that true in our case as women going through this stage in our lives? Sleep for me is not the problem lately for me. I sleep like a log and when I need to get up lately... I feel like I'm waking up from a damn coma lately. lol
The answer is HRT.👍
How to check hormones
Jessica looks spectacular!
Thanks!
Does it help if I walk in a big warehouse ?
My skin becomes loose, how to prevent that?
drink lots of water and use collagen peptide powder in a smoothie or juice daily
How about losing weight after 70??? That's a real bummer!!
I’m 53 I have gained 16 pounds in 6 months. 😬 extremely tired.
Great info
I'm 39 and I'm here to prepare in advance. Ha ha! :D I started when I was 21 and I've been able to maintain between a size UK 10 - 12 95% of the time since, now I want to fight tooth and nail to get back down to a 10 again. Thanks so much for the motivation. ^_^
40 year old Ellen back here, but I'm still a size 10, dropped to a 28 and a half inch waist, have cut the number of hours I spend sitting a day down to the recommended 'less than 4', and am at Week 6 of Couch To Five K.
What kind of physician will help with hormones because everytime I ask mine they refuse and tell me it's pointless to look at it. 😩
Nice video. I
I don’t know how much i should be pushing myself to eat less without going over board 🤔
Beautiful as always
