  • Newer Humminbird Helix users will learn how to use the check/info key functions. My goal is to work through each key on the Helix unit to familiarize owners with their units so they can use them confidently on the water. This is the fourth video on the playlist Humminbird Helix Key, Button Functions.

      Thanks Giovanni, the Helix units are tried and true units so the video content is still current and applicable. I will be releasing some shorter videos focusing on one aspect of Helix use beginning with the release of a new video this afternoon. As always, I appreciate your thoughtful comments.

    You can also use it for the Smart Strike feature. Great info I enjoyed watching it.

      Thanks John, I always appreciate learning new things. In a video I am currently working on I make a comment about “learning together” on the channel. Feedback is an important part of the learning curve so thanks for sharing. I don’t have Smart Strike so I was not aware it could do that.

    Question, how can I pull up a nearby lake sitting in my garage with my hummingbird helix seven with a lake master chip installed? Like you do on videos… Grieve videos by the way, very helpful.

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  2 года назад

      Thanks for the kind words Steve. Hit menu, menu and go to “HB Chart” at the top, scroll down to Lake List and find the lake you are looking for assuming it’s on your chip. The other option is to use the cursor control key and use the direction arrows to move the cursor to the lake you are looking for on the map.

    Can the 360 imaging be used while trolling to check bait positions

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  2 года назад

      Personally I have never used it for trolling. The faster you troll the more difficult it would be as the best images are sitting still. The depth you troll would also be a consideration. The Mega360 will pick up bait in deeper water (50’ and deeper) but you could get limited bottom images. When
      I am using my trolling motor, I still get good images. Side imaging would work really well at trolling speeds but you would lose the 360 perspective.

    Question , We bought a boat with the Hummingbird Helix 5. Somehow we got it off the depth feature on the helix 5 .. How do we get it back? I think we turned off the Sonar, is that the problem?

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  2 года назад +1

      Possibly, hit the power button, sonar option will come up, if it is off turn it back on.

    This really doesn't relate to this video but hoping you can answer a problem I am having. I have successfully downloaded my Google Earth Pro way points onto an SD card using the Humminbird PC download. What I can't figure out is when I insert the SD card into my 2021 Helix 9 GN3 unit the only prompt I get is "SD card encrypted". Nothing else, no other prompts of any kind such as "CONFIRM, upload data from SD card" as I have heard others say they get. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I know the data is on the card, I double checked it using the Humminbird PC site, it is all there. I have been trying to do this with my boat inside my shop. Do I need to have it out, so I get GPS reception? I have tried to shut the unit down, go back thru the start-up process and re-insert the SD card and nothing, no prompts, no indication of any kind that the unit recognizes I have installed and SD card. What the heck am I doing wrong?

      Hi John, I haven’t done this so I am not familiar with using Earth Pro. The only suggestion I have is to make sure the card is properly formatted before using it. Formatting basically erases everything on the card and puts it into a format recognizable by your Humminbird unit. If you watch my Basemap update video, it will show you how to format the card and the right sd cards to use(32gb or less, class 10). Hopefully this helps.

      I wish I could help you more but I have not done what you are trying to do. The Fish the Moment guy on RUclips does work with Google Earth and waypoints so he would be a better resource. He has an excellent channel if you haven’t seen it.

    • @johnakers7327
      @johnakers7327 2 года назад

      @@stevechiassonfishing5876 thanks and yes I watch fish the moment often. In fact it was one of his videos that taught me how to take way points from Google earth pro, convert them to a gpx file and then download onto a SD card.

      @@stevechiassonfishing5876 by the way, really enjoy your videos on humminbird units. I love the detail you include, meaning you don't just assume most users already know certain simple steps. Sometimes it is those simple steps that are missed or overlooked. Thanks.

    all i want to is view my Helix recordings on my pc.

    • @stevechiassonfishing5876
      @stevechiassonfishing5876  3 года назад

      Provided you have a SD card in Humminbird card slot. Press and hold the Mark button to save the recordings to a card. Place your card in the reader on your laptop and you will have access to the recordings. I have tried to use recordings for videos on my channel. I have not had success with that yet as I believe I need a video editing program. That is potentially the topic of a future video.

    • @c_geary
      @c_geary 3 года назад +1

      @@stevechiassonfishing5876 there is no program that can read these files. Humminbird pc is only waypints and then the autochart is for that alone.
