Were you playing 'Blackbird' by the Beatles @ the 4:00 minute mark? Lol. BTW, their website says that they are STILL out of stock on almost every model of guitars. Bummer..
Orangewood Guitars I like the one bird inlay on the fretboard and the headstock (oval spoon, black tuners, & Orangewood word) on the Oliver M. All of your guitars should have this same headstock.
Orangewood guitars definitely have to be some of the best valued guitar brands out there! No wonder why they are such a mighty competitor! Awesome work!
Great review as always! I have the Manhattan which is the lowest prices model at $125. It wasn’t setup very well and there was some cosmetic blemishes that they shrugged off when I contacted them about it then a few months later they were selling ones with the same blemishes for $35 less. They told me the wrong bridge pin size then when I bought them and tried them and they were the wrong size they also shrugged it off. The customer service has seemed a bit sketchy and not very knowledgeable of their products. That being said, the guitar plays great now AFTER I had worked on it. Changed the bridge pins (after I reamed the bridge pin holes to 3 degree taper), changed tuners, changed the cheap no name strings, set the guitar up, then it played a little better. You can’t drive these cheaper models very well though or they’ll sound a bit buzzy. Hope this helps someone.
Just bought the OW Echo Live Sunburst Vintage and I'm very happy with it. Beautifully crafted and sounds and feels a $1,000 guitar. Will buying the Ava.
I’ve bought quite a few of different items you have reviewed. Time to finally buy me an Orangewood and this is the model Thank you for all you do for us out here
So glad they didn't skip out on headstock binding. Hate that so many companies always skimp out and skip headstock binding when the rest of the guitar has binding.
Darrell, your incredible brother. I could sit and listen to you play all day. Please come over and teach me that little ditty you were playing. I love you bro. Best RUclips channel for music hands down.😉
I bought my son a Mason Live special edition for his birthday and he loves it. He was playing an older Yamaha FD01 since he started, so this was big step up. We had the Yamaha set-up for him by a very good luthier and it cost more than I paid for the guitar. The Orangewood came set-up perfectly right out of the box, so the savings add up. There was a problem with the shipping not caused by Orangewood, but they stepped up and made it right very quickly, so I am a happy customer. BTW, I first found out about Orangewood here on your channel. I appreciate your content and watch regularly. Thank you...
Hello Darrell, I am really close to deciding between the Ava Mahogany and Yamaha FS850. I would really appreciate an input. Thanks for all your hard work!
Please help me decide. If you had to choose one which one would it be? Ava Mohagany (The one on this video) or the Sage live? I Believe you have played both. Which one would you choose?
Darrell, I always enjoy seeing a new video from you! What was that you were playing at the beginning and at 1:18? Whatever it was, would you please either post a video teaching us how to play it or at least offer tabs for purchase? As you know, it was very well suited for the tone of that guitar and it sounded great! Thank you! 🎼🎸☀️
I would like to thank you for all the information that you give. I am wondering what would be your choice between the orangewood sage highland and the Yamaha A5R. Thanks again for all you do I have learned a lot.
Orangewood can ship their guitars anywhere they want. They currently choose not to supply any market outside the USA, probably because they can’t keep up with demand as it is.
This is the 2nd vid in two days orange wood guitars has popped up and I've got to say I want one. I own a Martin at the minute. Although I'm starting to really want an orange wood
Very good guitar. I think that the wide use of ebony on fingerboard and bridge is about hardness, rather than accent, but that is just an opinion... (of course, everything matters in sound conformation...)
Just got mine today and all I can say is what a deal for $645. Everything about this guitar is perfect for me. I can’t stop playing or smelling it. 😃Thanks for the video and helping me make my choice on my next acoustic guitar. Much appreciated and keep up the great work.
its Sapele!..call it that, then compare it to mahogany or whatever else you want!...PS you da man bro!...ive learned a lot from you and respect your knowledge and playing! you are fair, honest and a gentleman in your critiques! typical Canadian!
One of the few places on RUclips where the RUclipsr doesn't inject their politics into it. I am forever grateful for that and for your channel remaining a place to get away from the chaos. Music can heal the world. Thank you!
Well, if you'd like to order 2 and have them shipped to Kentucky, then I guess I could ship the other 1 to you - I won't even charge shipping and handling!
They can ship anywhere they want. Obviously they can ship review models to RUclips reviewers when they want to. But as far as selling outside the USA, they can’t even keep up with the demand here. They are constantly out of stock of many models. How can they supply the world? They need to ramp up production in Asia and expand their capacity in California (they inspect and set up the guitars in the USA after they are imported from their production lines in Asia).
Ive been a Martin guy my whole life. I have a D42, D18, and a 000-15M. A few years ago I bought an Ava Spruce top with the LR baggs anthem and honestly its all I play now. Now before I go any farther, I have all my guitars setup professionally by my favorite luthier, so my opinion of playability might be affected by that. I wasn't happy with the setup the Orangewoods came with but let's just say I understand why they set them up the way they do. Anyway, my buddy has an OM-28 which is a $3000 guitar but he was jealous of my Ava from the time it arrived so he got an Ava Mahogany and I haven't seen the OM since. As far as the 000-15M, the body is smaller no doubt, but my buddy's Ava sounds and plays just as good and it costs $700 less and now i'm the jealous one. So my advise is if you're concerned about resale value, then buy the Martin. If you are not concerned about resale value, then buy the Orangewood. My luthier says Orangewoods are built very well and he is really very impressed. I especially like the low end the Orangewoods put out, and, I'm not afraid to take it out to gigs. Once I took out my D42 and someone knocked it over and stepped on it. I almost killed him. I dont think I'd be happy if the same happened to my Ava, but I probably would handle it a little better. Hope I answered your questions.
I've been trying to decide on which guitar I should buy. I was thinking of switching from a dreadnaught to a grand concert, but now I can't decide between the Ava and the Sage. I thought there was a bigger difference in size, but with the Orangewood, the size difference is minimal. Any help you can give me would be appreciated. (I have large hands for a female, but the hands are getting a little older now. The cutaway appealed to me, but I don't know that I really need it. I was thinking of getting a pickup later) You've played both.... Really anxious to replace my guitar that I lost, along with everything else, in a house fire recently.
Wow. I watched the whole video, and all I could think is that I want one with a cutaway. And as an acoustic-electric if they make them. The Sage is the cutaway model, the Ava being no-cutaway. And they make a Live version of both that are electric as well. So, yeah. They do have an acoustic-electric version with the cutaway... for $945.
I was wondering if you could do a review on Hagstrom guitars. It is a swedish guitar manufacturer which I think most people dont know. For example the Hagstrom Viking (ES-335 Style) or the Hagstrom Swede (Les Paul Style).
hi Darrel ! great Channel... anywhere in Canada we can purchase Orangewood guitars?? I'd love to get my hands on A Sage or Ava Acoustic... Unfortunately they don t ship to Canada... :(
I checked out their site. they have a killer parlor guitar for $200.00 USD. The demo video is good. It will suit my funky approach well. I have an entry level Martin and I like this better.
i loved that little intro. it reminded me very much of 'Seven Black Roses', by the Scot, John Martyn. not many people know of him, especially over there in the Americas, so i'd be interested to know if you're familiar with his work. if not, check out the video, of Seven Black Roses on youtube, among others.
Hey, Darrell; checking out the Orangewood Site, Reviews of verified buyers; dust under the finish is a common complaint. That wouldn't deter me, I'll take sound over appearance any day; but, maybe like Gibson used to do yarons ago, they should offer them as, " B", grade at a reduced price. Wanting to replace my old Gibson Parlour which I gifted to a grandson and the AVA or the Sage seems to be top value choices. I like mahogany in those two body styles, parlour and GC. I found spruce top models too bright, a bit chimey even. good work, sir..
Darrell those Orangewood guitars sound very good. However the signal sounds processed to me. Can you tell me how this is being recorded? Thanks in advance.
I wanted to get a smaller body acoustic for learning fingerstyle with instead of my dread, so I was like, oh wait, they have like a $200 guitar that a lot of people rated high, I'll try it. Yeah, out of stock forever. Thanks COVI!
I saw an artist named Passenger playing a Gibson J45 acoustic, it had a big beautiful, full sound. What are your thoughts on that guitar? Is there something comparable to it? I cant afford a couple grand for a guitar, I'm trying to stay well under a grand if possible so if you have any recs I'd appreciate it. I currently own a Taylor acoustic and a Recording King Dirty 30 Series parlor guitar.
The J45 is a classic. There is a similar model in the Sigma guitars line, but I cant remember the model name. Just go on their website and find it, shouldnt be too hard. Sigma as a brand offer very hight quality👍
I'm a sucker for Grand Concert guitars and Mahogany, so this one hits the sweet spot for me!
Were you playing 'Blackbird' by the Beatles @ the 4:00 minute mark? Lol. BTW, their website says that they are STILL out of stock on almost every model of guitars. Bummer..
Wait what was that guitar made of?
@@Sig721Tau Last batch sold out in 2 days or so...
I have a Brooklyn Live Limited and now saving for one of these so thanks for the video!
The Mahogany sound is so smooth and warm. Absolutely marvelous.
Another "solid" video, Darrell! 🙏
U made the guitar in indonesia but you don't sell it in Indonesia whyy? 😢
Orangewood Guitars
I like the one bird inlay on the fretboard and the headstock (oval spoon, black tuners, & Orangewood word) on the Oliver M. All of your guitars should have this same headstock.
Orangewood guitars definitely have to be some of the best valued guitar brands out there! No wonder why they are such a mighty competitor! Awesome work!
I love that you zoom in on the frets!
It has a beautiful Warm tone to it
That ending bit there was really nice
I bought a Rey about a month ago based on your review, got your discount code and I adore the guitar. Fantastic stuff, man!
Reminds me of the Parkwood guitars made by Cort: all solid woods and beautiful headstocks. Great playing. Great sound. Great video.
“What you just heard” is a really nice well built guitar..
RECORDED through a really super nice microphone!!!
Sounds amazing. Beautiful, too.
Another winner from Orangewood!
Great review as always! I have the Manhattan which is the lowest prices model at $125. Just bought the OW Echo Live Sunburst Vintage and I'm very happy with it. Beautifully crafted and sounds and feels a $1,000 guitar. Will buying the Ava.
Came here to see and hear it. My grandson is stationed at Colorado Springs and said he just bought one. Looks and sounds like he did good.
Nick Drake got his unique sound with a mahogany guitar in special tunings and using old(dead), strings - lovely sound.
I’ve bought quite a few of different items you have reviewed. Time to finally buy me an Orangewood and this is the model Thank you for all you do for us out here
Enjoyed my time with the other two Orangewoods, before sending them off to their new home yesterday. Really impressed.
1:08 "I see monsters" is one of the songs why I'm looking to buy an acoustic.
2:16 couldn't help but to laugh lol
LOLLL
Seriously?
Child..sigh
IM DEAD BRUH HAH
LMAO same
I like mahogany for blues. Can really dig in and get that old-timey blues sound.
Absolutely love the last piece
So glad they didn't skip out on headstock binding. Hate that so many companies always skimp out and skip headstock binding when the rest of the guitar has binding.
Your tune, your playing made my day. THANKS.
Darrell, your incredible brother. I could sit and listen to you play all day. Please come over and teach me that little ditty you were playing. I love you bro. Best RUclips channel for music hands down.😉
Just ordered the Sage Mahogany, I'm looking forward to getting it in tomorrow!
Let me know how it goes. I ordered the Sage Mohagany Live. Cant wait

I wished they would make this in a 12 fret version ❤️
Never heard of them... And now it's on my list! Looks great, sounds great and priced great. Thanks.
Nice review, Darrell. Orangewood is on my short list for adding to my collection.
Really nice guitar. Just what I'm looking for. And your presentations never disappoint. Thanks much.
Love the Satellite riff ♥
Very warm and dark sounding.
Love the grain on that mahogany top. Thanks, Darrell.
Best guitar playing I've heard from you man!
Hello Darrell, I am really close to deciding between the Ava Mahogany and Yamaha FS850. I would really appreciate an input. Thanks for all your hard work!
Sounds great, my 1st thought was that if you want a d-18 sound but have a limited budget, this would be high up the list! Nice quality there.
Great review. One more question about the fretboard: is it flat or does it have a radius?
This guitar is so tempting. I have a Morgan from them and I love it.
Please help me decide. If you had to choose one which one would it be? Ava Mohagany (The one on this video) or the Sage live? I Believe you have played both. Which one would you choose?
I have the Sage, and I do love that guitar!!!
Same
I have the Ava live sounds just like the video
It's great that youtube didn't interrupt this advertisement with any other advertisements.

Darrell, I always enjoy seeing a new video from you! What was that you were playing at the beginning and at 1:18? Very clean and snappy sounding. I love it!
Darrell,
How are the necks?
Thin, depth-wise, or thicker
barrel-chested?
And the scale length?
Excellent review, as always.
I would like to thank you for all the information that you give. I am wondering what would be your choice between the orangewood sage highland and the Yamaha A5R. Thanks again for all you do I have learned a lot.
You’re based in Canada right? How were you able to get it with no international shipping?
People can ship to family in America and they can send to your country
Maybe a review unit ?
Orangewood can ship their guitars anywhere they want. They currently choose not to supply any market outside the USA, probably because they can’t keep up with demand as it is.
This is the 2nd vid in two days orange wood guitars has popped up and I've got to say I want one. I own a Martin at the minute. Although I'm starting to really want an orange wood

Mary Spender and DBG both dig these... that's certainly saying something! Thank's for another great video brother!
from the get go looks and sounds stunning!

this guitar is beautiful i like how natural sound the bass, the mids sound creamy and the Treble sound crisp.
Dude- how are you able to get their guitars to Canada? I've contacted them and they refuse to ship anything here.
Well, if you'd like to order 2 and have them shipped to Kentucky, then I guess I could ship the other 1 to you - I won't even charge shipping and handling!
*For a RUclipsr promoting their instruments they'll make an exception I guess.*
They can ship anywhere they want. Obviously they can ship review models to RUclips reviewers when they want to. But as far as selling outside the USA, they can’t even keep up with the demand here. How would you say it stacks up against a Martin 000-15?
That's what I want to know
Ive been a Martin guy my whole life. I have a D42, D18, and a 000-15M. A few years ago I bought an Ava Spruce top with the LR baggs anthem and honestly its all I play now. Just bought one myself during this sale they’re having!

I see I'm not the only Canadian wondering how you got one shipped to you. I love the Sage cutaway and want one!
I want it so bad
Wow. I watched the whole video, and all I could think is that I want one with a cutaway. And as an acoustic-electric if they make them.
The Sage is the cutaway model, the Ava being no-cutaway. And they make a Live version of both that are electric as well.
So, yeah. They do have an acoustic-electric version with the cutaway... for $945.
That guitar sounds like something that John Denver would play
Or Dave Matthews

All solid mahogany. Sweet!
wow, I'm in Canada, too; this video just popped up on my youtube as, most current...??
you are a great acoustic player. have you ever tried the gibson j185?
I'd like to see a comparison between this and a used Martin d15.
That's some snazzy pickin'...........beautiful sounding acoustic
Thanks for the demo, Darrell. Sounds great. Unfortunately, it's challenging to truly judge where the signal processing ends and the guitar begins.
man i loved this video and went to buy it immediately to find it was sold out :(
I think I’ll get this when they come back in stock.
Beautiful guitar with a lovely sound
Sir plzzzz tell me is this guitar or other orangewood acoustic guitar is available in INDIA 😃
what is that opening tune?? Lovely arrangement
i thought it would sound muddy and boomy but it sounds great

Ah yes we can’t have a nice acoustic guitar review without some Dave Matthews 👌🏽
I was wondering if you could do a review on Hagstrom guitars. It is a swedish guitar manufacturer which I think most people dont know.

John Martin is amazing.
Great sounding!!
Wish more acoustics had the optional pickguard. Mind you, don't think my 1978 Yammy would look so good now if it never had a pickguard.

That's a nice fat sound, Darrell. Assuming you straight-lined the EQ, it's a little heavy on the bottom end.
Darrell those Orangewood guitars sound very good. However the signal sounds processed to me. Can you tell me how this is being recorded? Thanks in advance.
