The Guardian Animals package actually seems really good in combo druid - it thins out your deck by 2 when played, and Twilight Runner is an amazing card draw tool.
The taunt beast also helps against agro decks
It would lose to anyone playing aggro.
Also fools foolish Priests into not playing Mindrender, a card that can insta-gib combo decks
Plus in a way it's one of the only combo decks that doesn't instalose to Glide. Since Druid naturally has so much deck thinning, ramp and draw. So it will often not matter.

That's a lot of pressure for a combo deck. Druid sure became strong this expansion.
The deck genuinely felt like it could have a ~50% winrate against a lot of decks without even having to use the combo
Surprisingly, the GA package fits well. You get 2 free draws, another 2 free draws + Control in the form of a taunt & rush. Combo deck's wet dream.

"Lost to combo deck with Illucia in hand" damn, me too, feelsbadman, sad part about not knowing the exact decks people are playing, I was greedily holding Illucia until I was sure he was combo, he just OTK'd me before I was sure and I sat there facepalming for 2 minutes
Really makes me think that the 5/4 stealth should be nerfed to only draw 1 card. It really looked like Trump was playing right, if the opponent had been playing the Survival version. Illucia to steal a big thing after the opponent plays the 10 drop, and stop them for a turn.

This was the first deck I played against after the release and I lost the same way with the 2 mana card in my hand I was so mad I knew he was a combo deck but I thought he needed to do some kind of setup before his combo.

I really hope it doesn't get nerfed. Druid is nowhere near as bad as people keep crying. Control Priest is going to be so much more oppressive than Druid. Just look at this game, literally the only reason Trump lost was because he didn't know it was combo. Priest, Control Warrior, and Hunter all outperform Druid right now.

@24:00 I think it makes sense. Maly enables Breath of Dreams, Refresh guy is already in the deck, Swipe is still a reasonable card. So you're just finding room for 2 Moonfires which, if nothing else, can be ditched for Kael'thas procs.
It honestly sounds better than hoping to high roll Survival of the Fittest before drawing too many of your minions because the card becomes an increasingly dead draw over the course of the game.
That last game took me for a ride lmao.

I kind’ve agree with you. Any form of Druid combo deck is the same principle and it’s boring. Play something to refund mana > Malygos > Moonfire. They’re the same in any expansion and for this reason I feel Inner Fire/Divine Spirit also needs to be HoF’d. The same two cards pumping out insane and sometimes unbeatable openings by turn 3/4 since the beginning of HS should disappear in standard now.

For the Mana Cheat Druid matchup, I do wonder if playing Illucia on turn 2 is actually the right call, just to burn all their Innervates and Blooms.
I played her on turn 3 against them and stole their Overgrowth as well. It was sad watching druid passing turns, doing nothing when I was way ahead of mana.

I have been a Highlander Priest through all of AoO, so I have been testing what new stuff to add and remove. My conclusion so far is: very little.
Though I haven't pulled the trigger on crafting Illucia yet. I wanted to wait and see if she actually succeeds at thwarting combo decks first.
Illucia is good against aggro too, you play her early and dump all their cards while they can’t play any of yours, absolutely worth the craft for highlander priest

It helps against some specific combos like mechathun warlock and quest mage(sometimes, when they don't use the second round in the same one they get it).
But other than those 8 mana doesn't ruin a combo(since most have malygos and it's hard to decide when to use it).
She's also good against Shudderwock but again, she does the same thing as dirty rat here. The problem is knowing when he has Shudderwock.
@@user-ly1fk9kk9d In Standard I have found that druids have many good targets, but they tend to play them out immediately. And I've stolen a wonderus wand from a careless Rogue that played out a tempo Togwaggle.

@@horsyhs2587 He was doing well with his own hand and deck. The hindsight play would have been to find a time to disrupt the combo, but he didn't know he was combo till the end so he wouldn't have known to go for that play.
@Jose Moreno Knowing druid have Omu in hand and didn't played it for couple of turns while playing spells - is a strong indicator of combo. It's excusable for viewers to not notice that. But player of Trump's level should've pay attention to such things
I agree- it’s trump’s first time playing the deck, I think he played it as well as we could’ve expected. The best turn would’ve been the turn he played Ysera, but I’d have to rewatch the video to even see if his opponent had any decent combo pieces l, aside from Omu.

I wasn't around for some previous expansions, so this is my first time seeing Apotheosis. So, WoW did Apotheosis first, then Slay the Spire did their version with very similar art, so Hearthstone's version isn't copying Slay the Spire, it's just evoking the original WoW spell that Slay the Spire copied. Right?

Copy then create a new deck
If you create a new deck while a deck code is in your clipboard, the game will ask you if you want to paste the deck
you select the deck code, copy it, then you create a new deck, and it should ask you if you want to automatically create the deck you have copied in your clipboard

@@henry7869 yes ive done it on mobile and it is its the same way you would do it on a computer. Select the deck code, then hit copy to add it to your clipboard, and when you open hearthstone and create a new deck it should give you the option to automatically create the deck from your clipboard
That’s the strat you disguise yourself as not a combo deck with gaurdian animals and then combo deck them to death
And or that is the draw package. You draw out the useless cards, then the panthers give a bare minimum 4 card draw, and suddenly you realize this is just a good general draw

Yeah, honestly combo druid should have been expected at the end there, even with some questionable cards being in the deck. Omu wasn't played for the entire game until the end, and regular survival of the fittest druid doesnt have much of a reason to run overflow, let alone deck themselves with it when their opponent is nearly at 30.
Overflow is still played with KT and SoF.
The future was clear.

@@masansr Oh that's been a staple of Hearthstone since the beginning and you know it. Remember Velen and Mind Blast? The Shirvallah OTK? Shadowreaper Anduin + Raza the Chained? Exodia? Hell, there's an OTK in Wild right now with Spirit of the Shark, Umbral Skulker, and Spectral Pillager. That's what Aggro is for, taking them down before they get the combo off. :)
