Rico, you're doing everything I was doing in the early 90s. With the internet and social media, you should be doing hella better. But bro, forget all that, chasing bids, fabricating sun up to sundown. Waiting for people to make up their minds, etc. You've tried everything, now maybe you can try something that has made me very successful. Go into production, build things that stores like Academy will buy from you, and sell in their stores. For example, Deer stands, smokers, BBQ pits, etc. Make fence panels and sell them to fence companies, or sell them on a website. Make some custom bumpers and sell them to the auto parts stores. There's a shortage of lots of stuff out there due to covid. There's a demand for stainless steel kennels at ALL the veterinarians in the U.S. The sky is the limit bro.
Marcus thanks taking the time to give me some advice and man i never thought about that! that is a great idea ill def give that a shot..thanks once again i appreciate it🙏🏼
@@TheWeldLab he's not lying...them bumpers can make like $1000 profit each. Also...try to learn how to fabricate parts for race cars and stuff...$200/hr mobile aluminum around here. Hotside/cold side turbo kits, exhaust. Roll-cages, etc. Also...custom commercial kitchen stuff(stainless) pays insane $$.
@@Iknowvfx Very true, fk all that fixing rusty shit, let the mofo do that crap. Fabricate new stuff, call a box company and put your name on it, and sell, sell, sell. Call it Rico design enterprise. Hell make a lowrider bike and let Walmart sell a million for you. That's how that dude Jesse James got rich, he sold his name to Walmart for 900 million. Make some how to welding dvd's and sell them on Amazon. If you get rich, send me a cut !
I welded pipe, but you need to be versatile..... I'm fortunate to have alittle of all...... What u like now is heavy equipment...... Lancing, carbon arc and other things that challenge my brain...... Stay in the game, I'm 57 now, love this stuff
Watching your videos always keeps me motivated bro. I started my company around the same time as you and I’ve been feeling dismotivated and stressed that I’m not making ends meet and now with a baby on the way it’s a lot of pressure but the sky is the limit 🤝
Way to keep it real. Being self employed is hard, need to learn how to live below your means. There's always something changing daily. And like you said the money can be inconsistent. You can get there though, your young. I've been shoeing horses for 30yrs and it's similar. Though I'm 50 now I'm taking welding courses at college here in Victorville CA! I don't know if I could go through that again starting up a business. For me if probably need to get a job for a company. Keep it up. Thank you for the video.
I feel every business struggles in the beginning. Cant say for how long, but if you just keep the determination i promise you will succeed bro and i hope you do. I wish you luck brother 💯
I hope this shit pops off and takes off faster than you think. That way you don't have to take another job and do what tf you wanna do. I hope all the work I've been doing with my brother does the same, so we can grow and stay working for ourselves.
Look at the airpack machine. If you start doing any heavy equipment you will need to gouge and that's a nice way to do it. Also you gotta get off thumbtack that is a huge waste of your time much better time spent just to go knock on doors and hand out cards it's a little harder but it pays off dividends in the end.
Man, I’ve been in this business a while and I can’t agree more with not liking particular jobs even tho they pay. We do production pipe fabrication and everything I do I compare everything to what I can make rolling out X-ray pipe welds in the shop and nothing compares
G you have me wanting to change careers bro. Definitely been considering it but just scared cuz I got no connects. But I finally saved up for welding school ima see what’s up.
Where did you start? I got out the military worked skate jobs went to a community college for welding but now I'm trying to advance that. I want to get into pipe welding and rig welding. I'm single no kids and it just sounds like the route I want.
I would guess in your first few years your gonna make less working for yourself than for a another company. Working for yourself is not about the money but the fact that you're your own boss and the freedom which seams like that's why your doing it!
Try to get work with home builders building townhomes. A lot of those townhome have, balconies and stairs. Some even have structural steel. Well good luck man. Don’t get the bad times get to you.
Put some of your business money in stocks. Be versatile, don't just pick oil stocks, spread it out to store stocks, communication stocks, farm stocks, military stocks. That way, your making money on your business while your brokerage money makes money as well, kind of like working a part time job. Just an FYI
Yo wanted to give you advice on shipping inventory i have online reselling company recommend you using pirate shipping cheaper than usps 👍🏼 love how you never lose hope 1 life give it all you got 💯
Imo I would not bid that job top dollar, I would take a lil less money obv still make profit but I think establishing the relationship with that company and getting those type of jobs under your belt is more valuable yk?
Last weekend this guy hit me up to weld on his trailer on a Sunday I said sure it’s 150 a hr 2 hr minimum charge took me half a hr . Folks don’t short yourself you gota pay for your time, materials and everything else these days. get you a minimum charge and figure it for weekdays and weekends
Get into bidding jobs, get bonded and start a small crew to do the work. Most importantly, create a business plan that will open your opportunities. Been in this business for 20 yrs, I hustled like you, to grow you must think and do what’s best for growing the business. Being on the ground is is a definition of insanity.
I had a customer call me 6 months later for a dog cage he wanted mounted on his truck bed, just told him no thank you. You learn to stay away from people like that.
Don't give up its good to run your own business I know it's a big difference here in L.A. than with you guys in Texas people here most of them want top of the line quality but wants a big discount I even told one guy I'll give you the price you want but everything will be according to you price I'll buy cheaper materials and give you what you ask for or they'll tell oh the Mexican guy said he'll do it only so much well then why waste my time he's giving you a good deal or I tell them at the grocery stores and gas station I pay the same as you if you can find anyone of that gives me a discount I'll work at your price but hang in there bro you'll make progress its only the beginning better is yet to come
the welding school I'm going too charges 16,000 a student roughly, expensive.... 12 students in a class 3 classes a day so 36 students, 5 months long. if they finish two classes a year that's 1.15 million dollars a year to teach people to weld if you meet the quota...
2 million people pouring over the border in the last year, i bet 10,000 of them have some welding experience. get ready for downward pressure on your reimbursement.
"If you a man and don't like buying tools you might be a girl " lmfao hell yeah my dude. I'm over here watching to switch from Dewalt to Milwaukee that's dilemma 🤣🤣
Keep up the hustle....I started my business when I was 18 and I'm 46 now. Tho I've been welding since I was 12. I don't do much welding anymore because I have a full fabrication crew and installation crew. After so many year's I still have a passion for welding and steel work. Keep up the hustle.....you'll get there
Love the vids and how you speak the truth man. Take care. Got my reminder set jefe! 😎

Your never to old to achieve what you desire
Same here. I took a welding course. Getting a forney mp 140. Hoping to land some side projects and get hustling.
After 3 years of grinding away at my own business I finally picked me up a 2022 pipe pro 400. It's a Cadillac and worth every penny
i luv em man can’t wait to get one!
@@TheWeldLab it's by far the best investment I've made so far. I've used the hell out of the air arc capabilities in the 2 weeks I've had it
Am always motivated 💪 when I hear you.
