      and then the writers constantly nerf their ability to think outside the box...such as when the Voth take Voyager into their city ship and take control of the computer....can't have computer-controlled self destruct capability but if they'd been thinking outside the box they'd've realized there's more than one way to skin a cat...or in this case scuttle a ship and probably take the city ship with it or at least blow a sizable hole in it....and that way is by using the fact that the sub-light impulse engines are fueled by nuclear reactors...just manually gain entry to the impulse control room and manually start removing the control rods for the nuclear fusion reactors one by one....the reactors will start running hotter and hotter until finally they overload and detonate with however many megatons equivalent to atomic bomb power....they also had no projectile weaponry as a back up in case the enemy could erect a dampening field that rendered their energy weapons inoperative...would've been a little messier perhaps (I imagine bits of pseudo-reptile gore would've been a pain in the backside to clean up) but that would've done the job of preventing being boarded I think....and with the threat of a thermonuclear detonation like I described above hanging over their heads like a sort of sword of Damocles I imagine the Voth theocrats could've been like "fine...we exile Gegen and his supporters to your vessel...leave us!"...would've been a more interesting ending to that ep I think

    I always found it fascinating how they talk on the bridge in terms of the enemy vessel being 4000, 2000, & 1500 Kilometers away, 1500 kilometers equates to 932 miles, then they show the battle scene, and you can clearly see the enemy vessel as though it is about a 1/4 to a 1/2 mile away. I understand that seeing the enemy vessel at that distance would be no problem for Voyagers sophisticated sensors, but for our naked eyes, it should present a bit of a challenge. Just sayin.

      I think Voyager was a much more advanced ship with better shields and speed where as the Galaxy Class was kind of the glass jaw of Starfleet, a absolute unit interms of fire power but once those shields go down it tended to fold pretty quickly. Now if it was a Soverign class yeah most of the encounters Voyager wouldnt have happened as a quick scan would have shown how outmatched most ships would be as the Soverign class was the closest to an actual warship Starfleet ever got

      I feel like generally the galaxy class would have fared much better as a generational ship if it came down to that, being so much larger with significantly more room. I get the impression it has stronger weapons and decent shields compared to voyager, but galaxy class can only go to warp 9.5 I think, so that 75 year trip voyager was supposed to have could have been like a 90 year trip to a galaxy class. Galaxy class probably whoops the Kazon pretty bad, with the rest of the delta quadrant it probably would have handled them similarly as well as voyager did. I wonder if a galaxy class could handle a cloaking device easier and avoid more conflict.

      Most likely Engineering cut the power to the engines, having control of the ship's power grid. The Helm generally only control flight trajectory and speed, meaning that all the Helmsman could do from the Helm is slow the ship to a stop, leaving the impulse engines operational, and in this case, detectable by the Numeri's sensors. In all likelihood, Engineering cut the power to the Impulse Engines to further convince the Numeri that Voyager had sustained heavy damage, as no power to a system could insinuate the Numeri landed a direct hit on Voyager, which would be detectable on sensors, and further enforcing the false narrative that Chakotay's Maquis tactic would portray.

    People talk about Captain Sisko's Pimp hand and how really good he played in Battle scenarios specially against eddington. But the way Janeway stared down those baddies combined with her near psychotic rage againsts the Equinox. Boy oh boy. Janeway IS that woman. Sisko had help from the Malinche and had to hard bluff eddington into surrendering. By hard bluff i mean he was really ready to poison all maquis colonies in the DMZ. And made sure eddington knew it. Did HE think he would have to? Or was he counting on one or two colonies getting figuratively nuked and expect eddington to surrender? Maybe maybe not. Eddington pushed Sisko to the find out stage and sisko jerry rigged a cripple defiant and took care of business. NOW JANEWAY??? MY GOD HER FURY IS ASTOUNDING. No backup, no starfleet, no drydock. She meets a fellow starfleet ship an unlilkely as hell scenario. A moment for love and joy. But they doublecross voyager. And they found out that is fear and despair. They turned their back on 300 years of human progress. 200 plus years of humanitarian devotion to the Federation. Of which human are leaders if not the defactor leaders of said Federation their drive, curiosity and ambition a driving force for good in the galaxy and Federation. They turned their back on those more evolved sensibilities which Picard boasts of in First Contact. To became kidnappers and torturers. A sort of soft Genocide of an innocent alien species. All of these shock Janeway. Not just being double crossed and endangering Janeway. Two sins for which alone janeway would have blown Equinox out of the stars. Add that their heinous crimes against humanity? Sentience? JANEWAY IS PISSED. Voyager is sort of like a destroyer using WW2 Naval craft types. And Equinox would be a PT-Boat. Anyway yea Equinox has a bit. But Voyager crushes. And despite the limited range of Voyager sensor suite. Janeway hunts Equinox across multiple star systems. Flushes them out of many hidey holes. And Voyager batters down Equinox defenses. Till Janeway comes through to Braxton but not until she forces a Warp Core breach on Equinox. Janeways hunt is more epic than Siskos. Downright she single handedly hunted down another starship till the little fucker blew up.

      That wouldn't be smart on Voyager's part. Even if Voyager can easily destroy a single Numeri ship on its own, it wouldn't be wise to do so unless you had very good reason. By showing mercy to the Numeri and giving them peaceful options, Voyager is basically saying: We're only your enemy if you make us one. If they had just destroyed the Numeri ships, they might decide to bring an armada to attack Voyager and then what? Voyager is completely alone in this Quadrant. They don't have any back up or any allies, so they need to carefully consider who they piss off and for what reason. By disabling the Numeri ships, instead of destroying them they're showing their good intentions and willingness to act diplomatic rather then immediately resorting to warfare, which in turn gives the Numeri more reason to return the favor, should Voyager ever need it.
      With some species, like the Kazon, violence is the only answer because they aren't willing to negotiate. With a species like the Borg, running is the best answer because they can't beat them in a fight and they definitely can't negotiate with them. But with a race like the Numeri, who can be reasoned with and brought to mutual understanding, diplomacy was the best course of action.

      Not really a science ship, more like a destroyer or frigate sized vessel compared to other starships of that era. (much more powerful than the Oberth class and later Nova class dedicated science starships) But yeah, if a Galaxy Class or Sovereign Class was stuck in the Delta quadrant, alot of troubles Voyager had over the years would be more easily taken care of with the heavier firepower as well as larger compliment of shuttlecraft than an Intrepid class starship.

    • @Anthyrion
      @Anthyrion 4 года назад

      @@djargus Ok. Memory Alpha claimed, that the Intrepid Class is a Deep Space Science Ship. The Idea of a Ship stranding in a knew and unknown Region of the Galaxy was a interesting idea imo. • @SantomPh
      @SantomPh 4 года назад +4

      the Intrepid Class is a deep space exploration vessel (the Nova class Equinox is also a science vessel but not designed for deep space), the type Sisko might have used to explore the Gamma Quadrant. The Voyager is still armed as well as a ship of its size can be, and Starfleet vessels are mostly well armed ships that can fight with the best of them; an actual science vessel would be partly crewed by civilians, such as the Oberth class which had more labs than usual.
      Voyager was not really a science ship in that sense, although the adaptations made to it by the Borg Drone as well as the Astrometrics lab and the Delta Flyer made it the ideal exploration ship. The Admiral Janeway upgrades made it even more powerful and versatile.

      Two possible reasons:
      1.) They didn't want to become involved in the war. Defending themselves by disabling attacking ships is one thing, destroying a vessel would be another.
      2.) This was still back when they were playing with limited supplies as a plot point (before someone realized how that idea didn't really work).

      Spacegoat92 voyager uses lots of recolored ships such as the numiri that's as u say a recolored bajoran cruiser, also in the episode in season 7 the steakth ship that Harry Kim takes charge of is a recolored version of chakotays maqui ship

      delta quadrant, seems to have more advanced tech than alpha. KAZON is an exception, since they just stole the tech from the trabe, and the borg finds them unworthy. Krenim, devore, turei, voth, were very advanced compared to voyager, among numerous species.

    • @chasmondo6321
      @chasmondo6321 7 лет назад

      lolaz wabby I know but your bog standard species is less advanced than voyager like the talaxians, Kazon, vadwar, numiri etc, but I do agree that the voth, krenim, Borg etc are advanced

    • @Starvino
      @Starvino 6 лет назад

      lolaz wabby I don’t think the Kremim were ever more advanced than Voyager during the two Year of Hell timelines save possibly for the Timeship itself. Voyager managed to survive both timelines despite several months of Krenim torpedoes going through their shields, and it took relatively short period after finding the right frequency for Voyager to develop an effective defense.
      I got to say, that 2-parter did show what a resilient ship she truly is.

    Voyager was the last star trek I ever watched, captain janeway was a big favourite as was Tim Russ as Tuvok.
    Although janeway played a powerful female lead, it was never done to denigrate men, she held a wonderful vulnerable but strong personality, the series seemed to end abruptly which was a little disappointing.
    Since then everything became so woke it wasn't worth watching anymore, like star wars I just gave up on it.

  • @boomer2095

    I wish you could put your finger on just exactly when Voyager knew they could just put the show on autopilot and not worry about making a quality show. Maybe when 7:of. 9 came on with skin tight uniforms. Maybe when they stopped using Nelix as a scout and made him the fool cook and to poke at Touvak. Both characters could be killed off any nobody cared. The whole star fleet vs Makee never went anywhere, and okie somebody said, you never felt they were abandoned in the gamma quadrant with unlimited shuttle crafts
