@@somedudeontwitterstalkedme3829 no because the difference is when movies make people a certain race or gender to push an agenda, they don't just decide hey alright done lets make a good movie, they'll shove it down everyone's throats with a constant reminder they are this race or gender. Notice how no one complains at ripely from aliens or ahsoka from star wars. It's because they are characters first, females second. When character development takes a back seat for agenda, then theres a problem
@@saintsfps5348 see again, nothing changed, I stated that nothing changed but color and gender and this is your response, which is exactly my point. You don't see the agenda because it fits your narrative and when it doesn't fit your narrative this becomes the battle cry. If you doubt what I am saying, not once did you discuss my points, instead you ran right too your prescribed talking points of if anything changes that you are not used too it is an agenda, because the person could only do something like that as an affront to you and your sensibilities. You may get upset with me and that is not my point only to point this out, but this is what they are discussing when they speak on "White Privilege" and "Male Privilege". Your very thought that you get to decide what is agenda based from your limited World view. Nothing will change because you believe you are right and yet you only see it from the lens of your personal views while discounting all others as "Agenda". People did complain about Ripley when it came out, People do nothing but complain about Star Wars and this cartoon character (which you believe a cartoon character is an example) people complained about Wonder Woman. Captain Marvel, the Ghostbusters, Doctor Who....they do it every time and then rose-color glass it later on by mentioning one of those female characters that they now can use that success to discount what is coming next that they don't like before they see it. Do you know what happens to Matt when he watches the opening scene of X2? The same as everyone else! "...Wow! What that scene was incredible. Is the rest of the movie gonna be this good?!"
Come on Matt, you know that the *true fans* love your nitpicking, and the medical and nursing stuff is actually legit educational so never stop. It would be annoying if it looked like these were the reason you dislike a movie, but I doubt it's the case. In fact I think this makes for a great subject for either a video or a LIVE talk, "For Matt and Jenna: as nurses, is there any movies or series that you've watched that either 1) totally impressed you with their accuracies or 2) made you turn it off for how wrong it was?"
I love the analysis you all did in this one. I wouldn't worry too much about getting "too political", there's not a single thing you guys have said so far that I could see offending anyone halfway reasonable. Great video as always! Would love to see more of Jeremy and Pastor in the vids, it's fun to hear their takes. P.S. I just noticed Pastor's Coheed tattoo, love it! One of my favorite bands ever.
You also have to remember it was the First big marvel film(except for Blade) first superhero or team film of the new era and before Spiderman which was 2002 when this was 2000. I was 17 in the summer between my junior and senior years of high school and seeing this in the theater was awesome. Wolverine was always my favorite from the cartoon/comic and getting to see him on screen for the first was amazing.
@@105582 Forgot captain marvel was released inbetween the two. IMO, It'd be better to watch CM first, then Infinity war and last... Endgame. Would be a way better experience to watch Infinity war then endgame back to back. Makes a lot more sense to me. Plus... Matt wouldnt forget everything and lose track of plot points LOL
I was working at the theater the summer that this movie came out. I was a huge x-men fan and loved the movie upon release. Years later, I can look at the movie and objectively see the flaws. It still holds a special place in my heart. My favorite x-film now is probably first class.
The fire and ice thing!! It actually is very important to those particular characters and their arcs! Pyro and Iceman have seemingly opposite powers but actually are more like inverses of each other. Pyro can only control fire but can’t make it, where Iceman, being an Omega level mutant, can’t create it and can control the temperature of all matter itself. It’s foreshadowing the fight they eventually have and it shows just how much more powerful Iceman is. Technically it’s borderline impossible to actually freeze fire as is, but Iceman can literally freeze molecules at insane speeds, including fire itself. It’s foreshadowing the fight they have later
Its been a while since I’ve watched this movie, but I sort of wished in the argument/meeting in the beginning where they’re debating where “Mutants” should go to school, I wanted to see Jean ask “well do you have a problem with mentally challenged attending school? They experienced a genetic mutation, so how are we different? Or is it the fact that unlike them who have experienced a mutation, you can’t control us?” I think the argument would’ve hit the nail on the coffin that, as humans, are we less afraid of different things if we can dominate or possess power over something?
After Blade, we didn't see good fight choreography in comic book movies again until Winter Soldier. I've seen the original X-men movies maybe twice, but not on purpose.
I couldn't find a bluray copy of X-Men anywhere. When I did, I got it at Disk Replay and The Last Stand was in the case. So we took it back and after some looking around, I just got the DVD. So, X-Men is the only DVD in my collection.
Regarding Matt's challenge, Fire is a plasma, if it is frozen it would be into the solid forms of it's constituent elements i.e. what is burning, typically oxygen, wood, etc.
I agree with the dude with the wolverine shirt. Wolverine was my favorite super hero as a kid and this movie really fascinated me when I was a kid. I’ve always been a big fan of the original trilogy.
I think it’s important for Matt and Jenna to know some other things here... In December of 1996, Marvel Comics/Entertainment was in a really bad spot. They had been behind the curve for years in terms of keeping up with DC in movies, cartoons, toys, etc. They filed for bankruptcy. To try and save themselves, the financial situation forced them to sell off the rights to their characters. The most notable of these were X-Men and Fantastic Four to Fox, and Spider-Man to Sony among other pieces with other studios. One young executive, the future head of what is now Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, would be working alongside the other studios and directors on their projects. With Feige now in the picture, he learned a lot from working with Sam Raimi on Spider-Man and Tim Story on Fantastic Four. Marvel would get a chunk of money from helping out with these kinds of films, but not as much as the studio they sold the characters to. Eventually the idea came along of a “cinematic universe” where all the super-heroes could co-exist in the world together. It had never been done before to a huge extent. However Marvel didn’t have the money to do it. Then in the summer of 2006, the comic book Civil War came out and that made a pretty good amount of money for Marvel. That, having combined with all the possible money they could save, decided to try and make the “cinematic universe” a go, knowing that if they failed, Marvel wouldn’t be even selling comics anymore let alone making movies today. The small, newly formed, Marvel Studios decided to use the money to bring a character to life on screen that had never been seen before. It was a little film called Iron Man. It was an underdog hit of 2008, releasing the same year as their other project, The Incredible Hulk, and the rest is history. Here we are, 12 years later, and since Disney has now acquired Fox and has owned Marvel Studios for some while, the possibility of seeing X-Men and Fantastic Four together on screen with Black Panther and Thor is finally possible. It’s ironic, the sold off characters like Blade, X-Men, and Fantastic Four were almost the initial stepping stones for the creation of the juggernaut MCU, and now the money and power of the MCU gets to bring those characters home. I’m sure I missed some details of the story here or there, so hopefully someone will correct me and point me in the direction where I should look to find out what they know. Hope you found this interesting Holden, Matt, and Jenna!
My favourites are x-men: first class and x-men: last stand. I love the 3rd film because I love the final act, I know a lot of people dislike it, but I love it a lot. Also, I love first class because it has Banshee in, that's the sole reason. I also love that film because it doesn't involve Wolverine
You guys do so much more then fake an over react to a movie you've never seen before, you guys talk about themes and how it is seen through all of you. You guys show so much humanity while watching movies
This mightve been one of my favourite post film commentaries, so many themes I was too young to pick up on when I first watched it as a nerdy lil kid that loved comics
To add about how those movies paved what superhero movies became, Blade is what saved marvel from bankruptcy and Blade is the reason marvel had the budget to make movies because the reason they sold X men and Spider-Man right was cause they were hurting for money and Blade saved marvel
I think that you cant actually freeze fire, but bobby controls temp so if he drops the fire down to zero it doesnt exist so he can replace the fire that was there with ice, besides hes a level 5 mutant so you do you.

If you would have gone black you would have talked about Black Panther which again was called an Agenda film
@@saintsfps5348 I wonder why you guys who all make this same lame ass argument always use the term "Shoved down our throat".
It is almost like you heard this from someone else, took their talking points and just came to regurgitate it here.

Matt looking forward to how 'Jacked' Hugh Jackman got...
...I'll see myself out.
He know's that Hugh's jacked, man

Like Holden said, in the first one he's more scrawny. As the series goes on we see him become more of a Huge Jacked Man

Do you know what happens to Matt when he watches the opening scene of X2? The same as everyone else!
"...Wow! What that scene was incredible. Is the rest of the movie gonna be this good?!"
Now are you going to finish the X-men trilogy before going back to the MCU?
Congrats on 70K this channel grows so fast, these videos gain so many views and I hope you keep making content like it.
Imagine gatekeeping a freaking youtube channel.
@@absolutecarnage777 It's simple colloquialism. Don't get hung up on details, this was simply a comment encouraging Matt.
I hope Pastor and Jeremy will be there for Civil War

@Grantimus Prime deadpool 2 then.
Deadpool 2 isn't as good. If he didn't like the first one, then he definitely won't like the second.

I know people dont like you veering off from the mcu but I appreciate any of these movies you watch, love this series 🙏

Ur my friend watches star wars for the first time finally hit 1 million views
Congrats to Holden on getting 70k subs!
Have Matt react to Lone Survivor. It’d be interesting to see him react to another war movie.
He reacted to 1917

Does Captain marvel give any spoilers for infinity war because other wise they should watch that first?

I was working at the theater the summer that this movie came out. I was a huge x-men fan and loved the movie upon release. Years later, I can look at the movie and objectively see the flaws. It still holds a special place in my heart. My favorite x-film now is probably first class.
Knowing Matt had a hard time following a new hope, I think he's gonna die on this serie ! You should have saved it for the last one lol
To be fair, I think the lore the prequels threw him off, but they’ve gotten enough of these comments XD
X-Men was originally a lightly veiled commentary on the US Civil Rights movement of the 1950s and 60s and was a real passion project of Stan Lee.
I’m so happy Matt recognized the metaphorical meaning for racism and political separation!
Show him NOT mainstream movies. I'd like to see his reaction on them.
Liked how Jenna was playing with the dog in the background when Matt was talking.
There’s like 7 times each video I watch that I go out of full screen to like the video, then remember I’ve already liked it. This channel is awesome
I couldn't find a bluray copy of X-Men anywhere. When I did, I got it at Disk Replay and The Last Stand was in the case. So we took it back and after some looking around, I just got the DVD. So, X-Men is the only DVD in my collection.
Fire needs fuel to burn, so if Pyro creates a liquid fuel and lights it, you could theoretically flash freeze it
Regarding Matt's challenge, Fire is a plasma, if it is frozen it would be into the solid forms of it's constituent elements i.e. what is burning, typically oxygen, wood, etc.
I agree with the dude with the wolverine shirt. Wolverine was my favorite super hero as a kid and this movie really fascinated me when I was a kid. I’ve always been a big fan of the original trilogy.
You gotta show Matt & Jenna the most recent Fantastic Four & the old ones 😂😂
I can wait for Matt's reaction on Civil War cause its personally one of my favs
I hope he make it a 30 minutes video instead of 12-15 mins cuz it's an important event takes place in the MCU.
OHHH YESSS!!!! Awesome pick! I’d love to see his reaction to all these X-Men movies, especially First Class and Days of Future Past
My favourites are x-men: first class and x-men: last stand. I love the 3rd film because I love the final act, I know a lot of people dislike it, but I love it a lot. Also, I love first class because it has Banshee in, that's the sole reason. I also love that film because it doesn't involve Wolverine
My favourite piece of trivia about this movie: Both Sir Ian McKellen and Patrick Steward confirmed that neither of them knew how to play chess.
Can we appreciate Jenna’s moment with the doggo at 12:44?
You guys do so much more then fake an over react to a movie you've never seen before, you guys talk about themes and how it is seen through all of you. You guys show so much humanity while watching movies
This mightve been one of my favourite post film commentaries, so many themes I was too young to pick up on when I first watched it as a nerdy lil kid that loved comics
12:40
OMG the dog!
