When Logan says, "It wasn't me, it wasn't me" to Charles...gets me every time!
I think Professor X knew it wasn't him. Well I hope he does. 😭
“You’re the man who puts me to sleep”
"I always know who you are. It's just sometimes I don't recognize you. "
I read this in my head in Shaggy’s voice in his song ‘It Wasn’t Me’.
lol.
Yeah, this is the part that breaks my heart every time.
haven't watched the reaction yet, just predicting that at the end:
Matt: "He'll be baaaaack!"
😂😂😂
I know, that's so annoying
Sadly...
I mean he isn't wrong though, probably. I think we can expect Marvel to include the X-Men into the MCU at some time, if the MCU will continue to make that much money. It may take 10 or even more years until Kevin Feige decides that there was enough time between the old and the then new X-Men movies so the casual movie goers won't get confused, but it probably will happen eventually.
Of course that won't be the same Wolverine then, but Matt didn't care for similar technicalities before (like with Gamora), so he probably won't care with Wolverine and the X-Men. I'll say it here and now, in 12 years after the group watched the first MCU Wolverine movie, Holden will ask Matt what he thinks about the movie and the first thing he will say is that nobody ever dies.
@@bryanisnotinteresting that has nothing to do with his issue. Comic book movies often never let characters just die. The important ones. Just like comic books themselves. Not everyone likes that.
I'm surprised no one brought up the woman's prediction of how Logan would die: On his back, blood everywhere, holding his heart in his hand. This movie fulfilled that prophecy.
nah the girl also told Logan that she saw him die in a room like the one in their mansion but logan died in the woods
so technically the prophecy was incorrect she also told him that his heart (which is in his hand) is not beating..
We actually talked about it after the fact. I basically concluded it was just happenstance. The actual prophecy was that he would be "on that table" with his heart in his hand. And he was on the table with his heart in his hand in The Wolverine. And since the movies are not even in the same timeline, he may not have even talked to her in the Logan continuity.
Either way, I still thought it was neat even if it may have been unintentional.
@@HoldenHardman well if you pay attention in the wearhouse you can see the sword that was gifted to him
I do believe that James Mangold did confirm that the parallel between Yokio’s vision of Logan’s ‘death’ in The Wolverine & his death in Logan was intentional, in a tweet somewhere
I could be wrong though
But Logan died with his heart in his hand in The Wolverine. The fact that he came back to life doesn't mean that the prophecy wasn't fulfilled. He did in fact die then so.
However, it definitely is sweet to think that her child is his whole heary
Matt 100% does it to annoy us, I’m convinced.
The movie was ok. He rated it higher than I would. It was pretty straight forward and imo didn't do anything particularly well. It was just rated R. Imo of course
It’s pretty funny that he rated Endgame a 10

For Matt’s irritation of “characters coming back”, the story of Romeo and Juliet has been told probably over a million times with some variations differing from the original. This doesn’t mean that the characters came back to life. Many different writers have written their own versions of the popular comic book characters with their own spin and creativity and different actors have played these characters. This doesn’t mean that the characters came back to life. Like Quicksilver, different actors different writers and directors.
The fact that you need to say this to a grown adult (debatable) says it all.
How these kinds of people (matts) tie their own shoelaces I'll never know.

So is matt saying that hes seen too many movies and cant get into new movies because hes seen a character die b4 so been there done that?
defies logical thinking and basic principles of learning.
I think there is something to be said for the difference between binging these movies over a few days, weeks, or months as Matt did, and watching them slowly over and over over 17 years like a lot of us did. I started loving x men in the 90s with the fox cartoon.
There is so much more buildup in my situation than Matt's, so much more culture, so much more hype. I think that plays a role in how these movies hit Matt as much as anything else. You can't replicate 17 years of hype.
I think there's truth to that. Even when I watch stuff that was popular back in the day that I might have missed, I can still like/appreciate it. But there is a social aspect of watching films with friends over long periods of time that is missed if you can just go from one to other.
I notice how really excellent, Oscar worthy movies don't need build up or nostalgia.
I wish super hero movies had that type of writing and cohesion.
But there is too much influence and or oversight from the studio, committees, research groups.
It's the democratization of art. When art is usually the artistic expression of the individual.
Logan didn't have the feel of too many voices in the room. But it still felt uninspired (as a film), straight forward and dry.
@@HoldenHardman I hate to say it, but I think a big part of this was watching them out of order. There was no chance unless Matt rewatched them and understood the timeline.
its not 17 years of "hype" its 17 years of growing to love and care about these characters and seeing it come to an end

Homeboy loved Joker but Logan is too dark. His tastes continue to be as baffling as they are unpredictable
Logic and common sense are things Matt lacks significantly.
Liked how he described him by his own word
" Homeboy "
I think maybe because Logan feels heavier in a sense? They're both very dark but Logan has a lot of harsh death to watch. I mean nearly everyone on screen dies, so that may just be too dark for his own liking. I just wish he could kind of ignore that and give an objective opinion instead of it just being too dark for his personal taste you know?
Joker and Logan are wildly different films. For starters, Joker was a stand-alone flick and didn’t follow a character Matt already wasn’t invested in the previous 12 times he saw that particular incarnation. Joker is a lot more atmospheric in its darkness, whereas Logan feels more gratuitous. Joker builds this world that oozes filth, illness, crime and depression. Logan feels like a sharp left turn from a fantastical world into a mean-spirited place that thinks its cool because it has film’s most unnecessary tit shot.
@@levischorpioen Yeah they're a different type of darkness and approached differently, I think all the death kind of hits Matt differently, it's really intense and brutal which fits Logan. But I mean I can understand, watching that family getting butchered is a hard watch. But man what a great movie, the perfect way for Hugh to go out imo.
This movie came out about two months after I lost my father after a 3 year battle with terminal cancer. So all the scenes with Logan taking care of the professor hit me VERY FUCKING HARD. 😢

I guess Matt is just a cynic. Weird, that's not the right words but. With the acting and the way they did everything. Xavier with his struggle. Which added a lot of heaviness to it. He said that so emphatically! I felt it and so did, Matt.
THIS !!!!!!
I for real thought Matt was going to dig this one! I was super shocked, but I can understand his reasoning. Honestly this is where I was waiting for them to take Logan/Wolverine and sad it had to be for the end and no return. R rated comic book movies should keep coming out and thrive, because it's a chance to tell a more mature story and I'm all for it.
Yes, but the issue is they have to have the right characters to tell R rated stories. None of those of the MCU would have made any sense to be rated R...while the likes of Blade, Wolverine, X-Men, Deadpool, Ghost Rider, The Punisher, Moon Knight, Venom, Kraven the Hunter, Sentry/Void, etc should definitely be rated R.
This proves beyond the shadow of a doubt that Matt is a compulsory contrarian. The stronger opinions you show him about something, the more he'll subconsciously try to disprove them. During movies like The Dark Knight, you did a good job concealing your opinions until the end, and he was much more agreeable. Now that you've let your vigilance slip, we're having the same problem as before. He can't help it, but there are things you can do to improve his experience

@CYB3R2K30 ok
ever since I saw the first xmen movie, wolverine/ logan has always reminded me of my dad so when I saw this movie I fucking bawled my eyes out and I still do. I think that has to do with why Matt didn't have the same reaction to it as the rest of us, he doesn't have an emotional connection to the character which he can't be blamed for. The comics, movies, and cartoons have been apart of my life for nearly 15 years and only a few months of Matt's.
Love you and the channel Holden but I think we just have to accept that matt isn't really the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to appreciating movies...
Very diplomatic of you. I genuinely admire this channels subscribers patience.
There are good people out there better than I could ever be. Lol
No matter what Matt's opinion is on a given movie, I will always love his take. That's one of the many reasons why I keep loving the My Friend Watches... series
I'm late but yea Matt is unbiased where most of the people who don't like when he doesn't like a film are die hard marvel fans and blindly love everything
Damnnnn, really thought the gore side and darkness of the movie wouldve turned Matt towards the light, but his mind is still twisted by the dark. Obi-wan, you know what you must do
Only Matt deals in absolutes
The lack of emotional connection ruins the chance of liking this. Matt doesn’t share the same love for these characters as the rest of us do. We love the superhero genre, and I admit to be biased and excuse some flaws I wouldn’t in other movies. Even not being a comics reader (little Portuguese village with almost no access to comics), I love these past years with marvel characters coming to life. Matt, at least to me, doesn’t share that passion or love, so his take on this is more analytic, less emotional. I just teared up 2-3 times during the video but I understand that Matt doesn’t, it disappoints me but I understand. Still love him and all the gang and I’m happy and proud of Holden and the gang for doing this and for sharing this lovely experience and path with us all. Nothing but love and empathy for these creatures. Stay safe, alive and well people. ✌️

I think one thing that gets a lot of us with this movie is time. It's been a part of our lives since childhood. Matt doesn't have that longstanding connection.
@John Trevolter same
I mean come on, naturally Logan can't compete against the artistry and emotional weight of Goon 2 ;)
17:14 Matt naruto running in the background lmao
Honestly I commend Matt for being honest even though he knows the vast majority of Holden's audience (myself included) fanboy over all of these
His opinions are terrible,it was a perfect end to wolverine, acting was phenomenal, action was amazing, it’s r rated, what’s not to like about it , one of the best ending scenes in cbm history
Pastor: "The comic on the other side... i actually have that one"
Jenna and Matt: "Yeah, im not surprised"
LMAO i love you guys
Damnit, I still teared up watching the death scene at the end. When she says "daddy" it just gets me. Any other parents out there will know.
I have waited months for this very video. It didn’t disappoint.
I did not kill her I did noooot - Logan
I’ve just grown to loathe Matt’s reactions to incredible movies.
Jeremy was right. Matt just doesn’t get it. This movie is flawless
No it's bland and highly overrated
@@SIRBATMANSTJOHN This movie is dripping wit neo western style. Anything but bland
@@JoshieboyStudios sorry it may be dripping with whatever, I just find it boring. Boring plot, boring villains, sort of held up by great performances from Hugh Jackman and Sir Patrick Stewart
It's definitely not flawless.
@@SIRBATMANSTJOHN Ur opinion is terrible,it was a perfect end to wolverine, acting was phenomenal, action was amazing, it’s r rated, what’s not to like about it , one of the best ending scenes in cbm history
Matt has never given a review without saying “bygone Jim moment”
I’ve been watching this series for almost an entire year and I still would feel more confident betting on a coin flip than I would betting on what Matt’s opinion of a movie will be. Truly wild.
14:25 This is what Yukio said what was gonna happen in The Wolverine. That Logan will die holding his heart in his hand. His heart was Laura.
See this on a Saturday, immediate click, I am ready for my Holden Hardman content. Let’s goooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!
Matt: nobody dies nobody dies blah blah blah.
Character dies.....
Matt: I have just been so desensitized
I guess when you make someone with terrible movie opinions watch an awesome movie that is what happens
This is probably the most accurate comment put as succinctly as possible while trying to be polite. Jealous of your comment game.
''How well was this film received?'' I'm 10 min in and I've rewound 5 times because I'm watching the movie not the reaction....
It was received extremely well.
Matt is just killing the happiness when it comes to my favourite movies lmao
I think Matt is just trolling now
Always thought Sabertooth was a lost opportunity. Not as a villain, but if the reveal was the guys in Canada coming to save the kids were being lead by Sabertooth. Showing that somewhere along the way Logan inspired him to change, which would be a great tie in to Origins. That way Laura ends up with family, continuing the Wolverine’s heroic legacy.
Hey don't hate Matt for his thoughts. His reasons are valid. Even I was like "Matt WTF?" But we understand Matt and we should except his meathead mind😁 I love you guys.
The reasons would be valid if they had a valid basis, but his basis is flawed. I honestly don't think he can be bothered to actually pay close enough attention to movies to see the actual reasons for why things are done the way they are, and seeing his reactions as he watches movies on this channel re-enforces that. He gets too distracted at the wrong times. Take the ending in this one. He was smiling/almost laughing at the others as they were getting emotional, he was busy looking around at the others, and not paying attention to the movie. He does that a lot, not paying attention, especially at important moments.
He's a BSN (hospital nurse). I will never understand his stunted take on cinematic works.
@@TygerTyger13 He cares more about food than he does about story. That says a lot about him as a person, a human being.
@@JoeyMartz which is worrying.
They aren’t valid. He’s wrong.
Just a little addition: In the Old Man Logan comic, it seemed like a bunch of villains were attacking the X Mansion so Wolverine went and killed them all but it turned out to be Mysterio making him think the X-Men were a bunch of villains. In the comic he has to live with that guilt
Holy shit thats dark 😭 I have to read that
Matt said he nodded off at one point... Nothing he said is valid at this point. He would like it more if he watched it again, like many others.
So because his opinion is different than yours it's not valid?
@@danielmiller2323 Wrong. Read it again.
My personal belief is Logan is the best of any X-men movie. I was 10 when the first one released and it was one of the first things that pushed me to read comics. I had wanted a rated R, full berserker mode Wolverine ever since I saw what he was like in the comics. My only complaint is that we won't get Hugh Jackman back for more.
Matt has to watch Man of steel, Batman v Superman and the snyder cut when it releases!
Hmmm... He would hate them because they are dark (I personally love the SNYDER DCEU).
@@JoeyMartz yeah probobly. But still he loves movies with deeper meanings and Snyders movies are just that.
