@@raisethereef What "guys"? The secondary lost precisely *one* significant player from last year: Jimmy Ward. Mosely doesn't really count, since he played all of 2-3 games before he got hurt. The four starters we succeeded with last year - Mooney Ward, Lenoir, Hufanga, and Gipson - are all back and all healthy, and exchanging Jimmy Ward for Oliver is not nearly a big enough deal to account for these problems. The only other player we lost who would have even had a role in coverage was Al-Shaair, but Burks has been just fine in his place. All the other players we lost on defense were on the line: Ebukam, Omenihu, Willis, and Ridgeway. Ferrell, Hargrave, and Gregory should have been more than sufficient to replace those guys, and certainly now with Chase Young.

Just my opinion. When I see All Pro Vets making mental errors and playing unsound football, thats coaching. That tells me the defensive isnt comfortable or confident in what they are supposed to be doing. The Niners defense is an aggressive, instinctual defense. When you get All Pros overthinking and not being able to just react, you get missed tackles and missed assignments.

Wilks isn’t doing what he told first : keep the system going and tweeking it just a little with more designed pressure plays. He calls it totally different and guys are LOST on this field. You just dont forget how to tackle. Players are put in the wrong spots SO they are over correcting. This is ALL on Wilks. That’s why i think Young signing wont change much. Wilks have to. @johnnydel I think on that trap play that the bengals ran, I think the 49ers played sound except for the defensive tackles. I believe when the offensive lineman pull it changes the dynamic of the run fits. On that play Hargreaves needed to do a better job of recognizing the play and cross face on that down block. I love how the folks in the comments section forget that in Ryans first year we were 3-5 and the defense was trash. I'm not saying Wilks has been good, but forgetting that DeMeco's defense was not good for a half a year and the team went 10-7 that year needing to beat the Rams in the final game to go to the playoffs. Or that last year the 49ers started 3-4 after getting waxed by the Falcons and Chiefs in back to back weeks. All people remember is the last half of last season. That being said, Wilks and the defense need to get their ass in gear.

Great review and breakdown. The missed tackles are inexcusable as the scheme which leaves wide open gaps as well. There was also a lot of holding on Cincinnati as well that was not called including throwing one of the 49ers on the ground. This is how the NFL is controlling games as well. They do not call offensive holding penalties and that gives the Quarterback more time in the pocket to pick apart good defenses. I’m sorry Kirk Cousins is not that good and never has been either. Welcome to the new manipulated National Football League.

Is this Wilks or is the defense that banged up and tired?...The missed tackles are getting scarier by the game. It was actually strange to see how poorly these guys are playing lately. Almost like they didnt even wanna be on the field. Seeing Greenlaw get run over by Mixon was alarming. Mooney is average at best. And the D-line looks confused. @@jonnydel usually, your Great at video breakdowns I I look forward to you're Breakdowns. However everyone is entitled to there opinions weather you agree or Not I Myself also thinks Wilks has a lot to Blame on the defense failures too yes your correct on the obvious we can't miss tackles and key players got to take better angles and play to there Standards. What your failing to Mention is Wilks putting them in positions to win which he has not and Bosa has already mentioned he didn't like schemes (Hinted at it big time ) Richard Sherman has stated same thing and Kyle Shanahan has Hinted at it too. Wilks keeps doing stupid twist/Stunts with the D-line slowing it down from reaching the QB (Hence why we're "Always Close" but don't get the Sacks). Not to Mention the Backfield is not matching the D-line and THAT'S A SCHEME ISSUE weather you want to admit that or not. The defense mistakes are a combination of 3 bad things Some bad play calling by Wilks player's not playing at the level there supposed to and Offense Putting them out there a little more then usual (last 3games). Wilks who's supposed to be a "Genius"/great DBS coach has put our DBs in Bad Matchups a Lot By Not Allowing our D-line to get Home and this has been a ALL SEASON ISSUE not Just last 3 games. David Lombardi also has mentioned this too. So a lot of it is on Wilks he's getting our D-line to play like he Coached In Arizona and Carolina Panthers and he may have had to do so many twists and stunts over there to get at the QB but we DON'T and have a much more better D-line then both of them and have a Track record with DeMeco Ryan's and Robert Saleh to back it. What he should do is let them Pin there ears back and go after the QB like what Richard Sherman said. Also Failed to Mention he's "Just Learning" our Wide 9 Schemes (Hence explains some bad play calling) if you'd like I can breakdown tons of Failed and bad plays he's mad all season long even games we won (look a run game ) been bad almost every game. (Most not all) Wilks has a lot of blame to go around obviously not everything is his fault because players still got to execute on plays but a lot of it is Him.

Also want To Add under DeMeco Ryan's and Robert Saleh our Defense was always Lights out Top 5 (mostly 1) in every category. This Year our Run Defense is Ranked 10th our Passing defense 20th (that's terrible by the way) Last year our rushing defense ranked #1 last year Passing defense ranked #1 the only thing that really changed is bringing in a outsider in our defense coordinator spot DeMeco Ryan's was already here for awhile and picked up where Robert Saleh left off. Yes back then there was faithfuls who were calling for there Jobs (😂 which was Ridiculous) However there's a difference between the 3 of them Saleh/DeMeco Ryan's/Wilks and that's Saleh and DeMeco Ryan's had our defense play lights out Swarm ECT both were already Here and can pick up where each other left off Wilks is not that and hasn't been that so far in this season and it's blatantly Obvious. What slowed us down last year was QB play with Trey Lance then Jimmy G then Brock Purdy balled out for us until he got injured. And year before that same thing offense slowed us down a little because Kyle Shanahan had to play call conservatively for Jimmy G but defense was lights out. Under Wilks this defense hasn't done that all season long and can't even stop a nose bleed and how they have been playing all season long is Hard to say the least to Trust them to make crucial stops when needed. Brock Purdy has been playing great all year and it's the defense that has let us down a ton and we got better defensively by adding Javon Hargrave on D-line and got worse somehow and the only thing that really changed is defense coordinator. Yes losing Jimmy Ward hurt a little however we Resigned Gipson (who has been great for us) and we got hufanga and got jair Brown too so again you have to look at the one thing that keeps being the common denominator and that's Wilks who has continuously put our defense in bad Matchups and in positions to fail and while you're great at Film breakdowns and I always look forward to watching and commenting on them I do believe you're wrong about Wilks. I hope he turns it around and proves lots of faithfuls wrong including myself. But so Far he's proving his doubters right and if he keeps doing that with what we have on defense and what we've invested in and on defense he should be Fired.

Look at the Rams game where Stafford was basically delivery a gift basic to Puka all game long. Even the game against Zone before half where Dobbs was lighting them up. Why John and Kyle are surprised that he isn't meshing with the defensive identity of the team is wild to me. Let Wilkes go and promote Kris Krucerik. Missed tackles, overpursuit and lazy execution are not Wilkes' fault. That said, why tinker with what aint broke? Stick to what worked the past few seasons.

This video is depressing- theyre just out there getting smoked. Really hope they come back from the bye with some juice and Wilks has some confidence in his play calling. Doesn’t seem like the niners are going to make a change, so he needs to get his shit together.

blame wilks they say, but bosa aint playing well, armstead getting old and getting blown off the line most of the time, hargrave always rushing trying to get sacks instead of playing gap discipline, charvarius ward needs to tone down his physicality, the only guys playing well is greenlaw, warner and lenoir, the two safeties also arse, jay'air brown needs to start over hufanga.

its obvious whats happening they are over pursuing instead of holding there gap positioning causing huge holes in the already wide nine ..they need to change up the scheme ..the players they have dont fit in this system we should try a 5. 3. ..khris mcorick seems overrated the way he is teaching the dline men im watching tape. and instead of rushing with swim moves they are playing patty cake hand checking the whole time ..if you watch all the top defensive line men they dont waste time playing patty cake ..they use swim moves because its much faster ..this whole team is overrated ..smh

@@soulblack621 When all you look at is sacks, your point is irrelevant. Plenty of metrics out there that show his impact on the QB and how he is stopping the run to prove he is playing well. He can’t be 4 guys though and the rest of the line has been nothing short of terrible. Kinlaw, Hargrave, Ferrell, Gregory, you name them. All not playing their role. Pretty easy to slow Bosa down when opposing teams KNOW they can double team and chip Bosa all game because no one else is winning 1v1s
