      Cheers Vince, yep it's 0.5mm balls on the APU. Honestly that felt amazing to see the white light, but we all know it would never have worked if it wasn't for the MMV mugs lol

    I did the same thing on an xbox 360 before. I was able to get my hands on a broken devkit 360 found the same model board and transplanted the cpu, nandchip and had to set the jumpers to a big block nand configuration. Luckily the 360 didnt marry as much components for the transplant.At the time I dont think anyone had done it before. Got goose bumps when it powered on. Its a good feeling. Good Job.

    Didn't catch the live stream but I was on the edge when waiting for the white light. I have always wondered...why do you need to reball the chip vs putting flux and solder?

      Haha my heart was racing a bit too 😅 you could theoretically use just solder and flux but you need each ball to be the same size so it sits flat on the board, otherwise some pads won't make contact

    I'm absolutely blown away, Imma give reballing a try, can't afford a bga machine but I'll see if I can get started with a pre heating machine and the hot air station. Keep up the good work Phil!

      Thanks man. I wouldn't recommend doing an apu without a BGA machine, but I would say try doing something small like RAM or the southbridge, because you don't need the big machine for those

    What Data is stored in the APU that needs recovering?
    I can't think of anything that can't be recovered externally....

      The saves and game progress. When it hasn't been backed up it's impossible to recover without accessing the original console

      You can but it would be almost impossible to get every pad the same height with paste if you're not using a stencil

    On a ps4 phat 1216 (sac001 motherboard) you need to transfer the syscon, renesas, nor and the apu.

    So weird I just found out you can zoom in youtube videos. I just did it without doing it ever before xD
    I'm having a ps4 from my friend that does not want to take a new hard drive at all and it gets stuck in the reset menu and after I press the button.
    I've cleaned it and put new thermal paste but when I test it and feel on the clamp it gets to 60° in no time so I gues this is the apu problem?
