Stryper is EXCELLENT! I've been listened to and followed Stryper for nearly 40yrs. They're the only Band from the 80s that are still excellent today as they where then. Michael Sweet's solo is excellent and Sweet and Lynch also are excellent. Now if radio stations would stop judging them because of their faith, Play their music and let their listeners hear Strypers music. Stryper is the GREATEST!!!!!!!
I've seen Stryper over 30 times. Seen them live for the first time in 1986. Been one of their #1 fan's since Soldiers Under Command. Definitely one of the best Band's out today from the 80's. Michael and Oz are such an awesome dynamic duo on Guitar 🎸 Robert is still the best Visual Timekeeper out there IMO. Perry is such an amazing Vocalist and extraordinary Bass player. All 4 work so well together. Not only are they a talented Band they are awesome guy's. Love their fan's and make it the best experience for us fan's. They ROCK 💛🖤💛🖤
I've been a fan of Stryper since 1989 and these guys still got it. Michael's voice is absolutely as powerful as it was back in the 80s. That guy takes care of his voice for sure. The shredding He and Oz mange to create is mind blowing, and you know they won't let you down. Perry on bass is a beast, and he adds a lot of that low intensity for the band complimenting Robert. While I do really miss Timothy in the band, Perry has been a good edition. Robert! Man that guy is so underrated as a drummer. His timings, his technique, the fact that he still turns his kit sideways, and that pulsing beat is unreal. Lyrically I've never been let down by Stryper and their message has always been Loud N' Clear! Of course you can't underestimate the vocal harmonies from the band!
I was introduced to Stryper in the 80s by my brutha from another mutha -- Del Rio TX legendary heavy metal guitarist Barry Hamilton. Been a fan ever since, blown away by their amazing musicianship. I remember him also showing Stryper to his seriously religious grandmother on MTV... "Look Granny, they're singing about Jesus." Granny said, "Maybe so, but what's all that wild jumpin around about?"
I’ve been a fan of Stryper since 1986. They seem to be aging like fine wine. And going against the norm of other 80’s Metal bands. They are playing tighter and sounding as good or better than they did “back in the day”. What they’ve managed to do over the last 15 years is truly incredible. This song Transgressor is truly awesome. Love the video too. Good review.
If you haven't heard them, Stryper's last 3 albums (Fallen, God Damn Evil, and Even the Devil Believes) were all very good albums. Even the Devil Believes probably has the most stylistic variety of any of their albums--but it's still distinctly Stryper.
I just saw them in Houston. Probably the tightest band I've ever seen live as far as the sound. Michael Sweet's vocals are great live also. Excellent band.
Saw them when they first started. We went to E.C Glass to watch them in Lynchburg VA. Jerry Falwell banned his students from going to see them. If they did they would be expelled from his school. Praise God alot of them didn't listen and went. They rocked! First rock band I seen ever
You are on point with Michael. Like a fine wine he has aged. He is amazing, sounds just unbelievable good. I´m 53 and I hear you, our old heroes are slowly but steadily getting worse. Not Stryper, from 2013 to the present they´ve been really, really good.
Really, really tight band. They are definitely a "musicians" band. I've seen them four times in the last several years and eight times in my life and they still get your heart racing when they come out and are dead on throughout their entire show. Their quality control is way up there especially compared to the other bands of that era and through these days....
Saw them for the first time live in 2018 and it was an AMAZING show. Live comparisons? Deep Purple 1974, Eric Clapton 1990, King's X and Galactic Cowboys too many times to list, Phil Keaggy, to name a few. Stryper was just as good as any of those bands/artists! Their last few albums are worth the money and then some. Thanks for reviewing this. Will have to pick it up soon!
Oh yeah - they are killing it now. That last few albums are super heavy and they can bring it live too. Definitely check out some more, like "Blood From Above", "The Valley", "Yahweh", or "Marching Into Battle"
Hell yeah i love Stryper. Ive literally been following this band since i was in 3rd grade soldiers under commsnd era. Their new album The Final Battle is definitely one of their greatest albums. You should pick it up. 👍
Love Stryper have never gotten the chance to see them live but I hope and pray that they will come to Oklahoma again this time hopefully I'll make the concert Lord willing huge fan of theirs have been since the early 80s I'm in my 50s now and I'm still listening to them they still sound great stay frosty my heavy metal head bangers 🤘🤘
Pretty good. I listened to Stryper's Cassettes were mixed right in with Overkill and Testament's in my Car back in the day.. Never did mind them. Always thought they were an excellent band. Glad you did this reaction. I haven't been keeping up with them lately. I'm gonna have to do something about that.
fred, the new album The final battle... well worth it. and the last few since 2013.... all great. - No more hell to pay (excellent) - Fallen (killer) - Even the Devil believer (excellent) - God damn Evil (excellent) play songs.... - Sorry - The Valley - Even the Devil believes - Yahweh - See no evil hear no evil - no peace for the Wicked - No more hell to pay... all SOOOOO good! and.... so many others...
I have seen these guys stryper in concert 19 time's the last time I saw them in concert was just a few months ago at Lucille's music Hall in Destin they were amazing praise God ozfox is still doing fine his guitar playing has not been affected by the surgery he had on his brain praise God for that cuz I saw total proof of how good he still is right in front of my face literally I mean I was right up in front of him while he's playing guitar the very next time I see them will be my 20th time seeing them live I can't wait
Have loved Stryper since the 80's. They are still bringing it 100% and Michael's vocals are just incredible. Check out his two albums with George Lynch (number 3 coming out soon) 🤘 ruclips.net/video/N0fFiymgMwA/видео.html
Great review! I mostly listen to Christian Oriented Hard Rock and Metal. Some bands you should check out: SAINT (Similar to Judas Priest and Accept. They have that New Wave of British/European Heavy Metal Metal sound), Impellitteri (Not a Christian band but couple of the members are professing Christians) and Narnia (Swedish Neo-Classical/Power Metal).
I don’t want anyone to take this the wrong way because I like and respect this band. Having said that at times it feels like they should put on a Broadway show because they add so many big harmonies in the chorus and tell such dramatic stories in their lyrics. I also loved how they added the low end (you refer to as often missing in their production mix) to the guitar solo section. Great tune.
Im a little younger than you and remember them in the early 80s. It's kinda funny that when you don't party like a " Rockstar" you can still sing that good Years later. I was hooked from they're first album yellow and black attack. They just kept getting better and better. I've probably seen them 5-6 times in the 80s. I've been following them since reborn but haven't gotten a chance to see them live since 88. I LOVE this song!! I will be looking for them coming to Michigan 👍🎸
My first musical purchase was Yellow and Black attack on cassette when I was a teenager. The b side was blank. My brother took me back to that store and demanded l get a copy that played both sides. My brother bought me tickets to see them in Melbourne, Australia on their previous tour here. I'm looking forward to seeing them in March on their next tour of Australia. Thanks brother! May God bless you.
Cool that Stryper is back... There was another Christian band I listened to back in the day. Resurrection Band / Rez Band. Hmm wonder if they have new stuff...
listen to and consider reacting to No peace for the Wicked and See no evil hear no evil. lower tones per your point but still their classic sound. little grittier and mid tempo riffs and depth. great choruses too.
Hello from Brasil, Witherspoon "S", AWSOME video, and analises, Stryper is wonderfull band, I'm a christian Man, every time, Baptist, but i listem Led Z, Guns, Eagles, INXS(top), Credence, and others.
If you get a chance, you should check out "The Covering". They covered songs from "secular" bands that had musical influence on them. It is an awesome album! Love the reaction too!
Stryper is the only band from the 80s that were EXCELLENT and have stayed EXCELLENT Stryper keeps getting better and better! Stryper will always be EXCELLENT 777!!!!!!!
ive loved stryper ever since I was introduced to them in the 80s i personally think perry richardson is a better fit on bass than tim gains was its hard to believe that thesr guys are in their 60s and just as tight as ever, keep em coming boys;)
You have missed out there best albums ..fallen...no more hell to pay......even the devil believes and god damn evil..and murder by pride ..all those are best stryper albs and there newer albums
Quote simply in my opinion they are better than any heavy metal out there. They have substance, style, musicianship and most of all a message of truth and salvation through and only through Jesus Christ.

The last ten years have seen some amazing Stryper releases. Their “new” music rocks!

I would add no more hell to pay to the list.
How dare you omit No More Hell To Pay!
Una de las mejores bandas que he visto en vivo.
Stryper es arrolladora!!!
Saludos desde Chile.

Holy smokes! He is 60 yrs old and still hitting it
Love this band! Been a fan since 84! Great song will definitely get the album when it comes out!

Talented and , enduring and most of all blessed!

''Reborn'' is their 'alternative' album 😉
Powerful track from the new album. kudos
I remember hearing the intro scream...than I just went deaf. Haven't heard anything else since.

Easily the most underrated band of that era.

Michael isn't doing for a different look, he is dealing with a detached retina.
9:01 AMAZING SCREAM !✌👍
Wow, they are better now than they were 35 years ago. Thanks for the video.
Cool that Stryper is back... There was another Christian band I listened to back in the day. Resurrection Band / Rez Band. Hmm wonder if they have new stuff...
Check out their recent albums... they have been back for a while...
listen to and consider reacting to No peace for the Wicked and See no evil hear no evil.
lower tones per your point but still their classic sound. little grittier and mid tempo riffs and depth. great choruses too.
Going to see them at Alive Fest next Friday, can't wait! Nice reaction!
Great band! They always deliver musically.
Hello from Brasil, Witherspoon "S", AWSOME video, and analises, Stryper is wonderfull band, I'm a christian Man, every time, Baptist, but i listem Led Z, Guns, Eagles, INXS(top), Credence, and others.
I know what you mean ,this is really great though the concept and performance excellent excellent lyrics .
Hardest working 80s METAL band hands down. Not having to ride the coat tails of their old shit.
Nobody from the 80s can still sound as good as Michael sweet can today...EVER !✌👍
They have been reinvented. And have reawakened my walk with Christ which drifted as Stryper fell off.
I loved it!
Not to be "that guy", but Michael sings. Robert is the drummer :)
God Bless! Thank you for doing this reaction :):)
I think Michael Sweet is 59 and his brother Robert plays the drums and he is 63 I do believe.
Oooops.... good catch :)
😄
Love Stryper!!!
Singer is michael sweet and he is 59
If you get a chance, you should check out "The Covering". They covered songs from "secular" bands that had musical influence on them. It is an awesome album! Love the reaction too!
That's no studio trick on the screams.
Stryper is the only band from the 80s that were EXCELLENT and have stayed EXCELLENT Stryper keeps getting better and better! Stryper will always be EXCELLENT 777!!!!!!!
I think you must react to Fallen Song!!
Michael is 59 and Robert is 62
A Christian band you say? 🤯. That's the reaction i always get. 😂 That's AMAZING that God is using them this way to reach souls. Nice review.
dude, there is so much good stuff you have missed the past decade.
Robert sweet is the drummer ..michael sweet is singer
Sweet ain’t doing those screams live or he will tear his chords
ive loved stryper ever since I was introduced to them in the 80s i personally think perry richardson is a better fit on bass than tim gains was its hard to believe that thesr guys are in their 60s and just as tight as ever, keep em coming boys;)
You mean Michael Sweet.
check out their more recent song/video Make Love Great Again where Blade Runner meets metal
Michael is 54.
I think styper are very very talented and would have been HUGE if they weren't classified as Christian.
Lovem
You have missed out there best albums ..fallen...no more hell to pay......even the devil believes and god damn evil..and murder by pride ..all those are best stryper albs and there newer albums
Quote simply in my opinion they are better than any heavy metal out there. They have substance, style, musicianship and most of all a message of truth and salvation through and only through Jesus Christ.
He never smoked
It is Michael Sweet he's lead guitarist and vocal, Robert Sweet is his brother and is the drummer
I mention that in this reaction.
