Happy New Year 🎊 thank you for all your great recipes
Thank you Barbara and same to you and yours
Michigan guy here that grows collards in my garden. Pretty sure I have mentioned this before on one of your videos. I do my greens in a pressure cooker. 10 lbs. for about 20-25 minutes & I also chop up the stems & throw them in . Smoked neck bones, hocks chunks of ham, jowl bacon, it's all good. I also use apple cider vinegar but that probably does not matter. Happy new year & keep posting your videos. Lovin em !
Do you pre cook the meat first? Or just throw it all into the pressure cooker?
@@thecialouisehowlettvariety753 I just put it all in the cooker. The meat literally is off or falls off the bones when the collards are done. I usually have to sort out the neck bones before serving !
I save and dry my collard, asparagus, broc all stems dry them out put them in small jars for seasoning !! Anything 👍
That's a great idea ! I still have a few out in my garden. Even though we have had snow & freezing temps, they appear to still be growing. Gonna go pick some & throw em in the dehydrator today. Perfect timing, just finishing up a batch of venison jerky !

I haven’t heard someone use pot liquor in a while so I know these will be good! I pulled a few quarts out of the freezer for my collards too! Good stuff!
Good afternoon AB. Already cooked me some mustard greens last night only no mixing this time with a roast and other vegetables for today, and let me tell you it was delicious. Ok you did that so well. Have a bless and safe night to you and your family 🙏🏽❤️🎉🎉🤗going into the New Year.
What was the brand of that seasoning he used I need some new flavor in my life
AB has done it AGAIN - right on time. I get the stem off with the pull method. Lol. They look good! I gotta add some cornbread and potato salad. Happy New Year!
Now i want sum potato salad lol
I need a cup of that pot liquor to sip on ☕️
Don't forget the cornbread muffins, lol
Me too!😋
Over here we get down with the serious seafood for the new year dinner ✅
Have my seafood boils from sweetsmokiejoes (that I kept hidden since the summer) and your recipe for the king crab legs. This is our 4th year. Family loves it. We are tired of turkey, greens, mac&cheese since Thanksgiving 😳
Happy new year AB & thank you for keeping us leveled up
Mmmmm Goodness!
I mix turnip & mustard greens my faves...Collards my 2nd fave, but it's all good in the mix of them all 😊 I know lots like to get away from fats, but i do like using hocks, salt pork reg. & aged, jowl bacon, pig tails (reg & smoked), turkey tails, turkey legs...Change up is good too. Those you made 🔥 all I need is cornbread, onion, & a lil hot sauce.
🎉Happy Blessed New Year AB 2024 🎊

Could not see the final seasoning! What is it,?
Will be watching you.!
Thanks

New years meal is my favorite meal of the year! Love the collards ( your recipe , in the crock pot) , tator salad , black eye peas , and corn bread. The house is smelling wonderful! Prayers and wishes for you and your family for this upcoming new year.God bless.
Just how you cut them AB
I watch your video yesterday about the hopping John's and it came out perfect it was really good I added a ham hock that I had already cooked and some collard greens I ate all the greens and had one big ham hot left I put it in there and it was so good and it was funny that I turned on my phone and you was cooking some collard greens with a ham hot I love everything you do Thank you 🙏🏿♥️
Thanks AB, for the game changer points for cooking mixed greens. Happy new year and blessings to you and yours. 🎉🎆😊
Grew up on all three of these greens when they were in season. Now it's hard if not impossible to find mustard greens in the store. And the seeds are hard to come by if you want to plant your own mustard crop. Now for my turnips, a few of the bottoms have to be diced up and thrown into the pot. Gives the pot a nice, mild raddish flavor. And never ever leave a hamhock outta the pot. A shot or two of tabasco or (vinegar) pepper sauce to top it off.
Hey 🆎 You're taking me back to my childhood at Granny's 😋. I don't think there was smoked turkey back when. Pork was used with my family.
I do love smoked turkey though...OOOOOO WEEEEE!! 😁
cook that hock with a whole onion, uncut and watch how fast the hock get tender or any of the pork cuts.
Happy New Year! Yeah buddy, you're right about the pork.👍I use smoked ham shank instead of hocks, lots more meat and still has the marrow from the bone for the pot liquor. For collards, I always blanch and drain first, then cook in the stock, it takes the bitter out of it. I know BtB is all the rage for stock, I use it myself, but for greens I go to the local restaurant supply store and pick up a container of HAM base. Brings the funk WAAY up.
This looks so good!
Happy New Year Fam! I got them greens getting ready to cook. I've pulled out all the ingredients that you used. Imma go for it AB style! Thanks for a Great Year of content and all that you do!💕🥂✌
Try turkey tails next time! It's 🔥 in those greens.😊
Happy New Year AB, family and friends 🎉
What is that seasoning before adding the greens?

I never thought about mixing that greens. Can't wait to try that.
My parents grew mustard, collards, and turpins. My mom used to cook those three together. Good eats.
Wow! Thanks for the recipe! The greens were Yummy! I used collard, and curly kale. For meat, I used one smoked turkey leg and one smoked hock! Outstanding ❤

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY & CREW!!❤❤THANK YOU FOR ALL THE TASTY RECIPES 😋 😊!!
In the south, traditionally, collards stand alone but most people mixed mustards and turnips. They even grow them together. I didn't have a green I didn't pick myself until I was in my twenties. Also, stems are chicken food.
I love collards!! What if you don’t have bacon fat? What is pot liquor? Sorry. I’m a Jersey girl
What was the seasoning?
I couldn't find mustards so I made turnips and kale last week w turnip bottoms. So damn good 🎉 I notice no one puts turnips in their greens anymore. I even put them in my collards.
What was the “true level up” seasoning?
I love kale too 👍
How I know you are on to something when I saw your jar of liquid gold. I don’t eat pork but, I buy the family pack of Beef Bacon and my family knows if they make bacon to save me the oil.
Looks delicious AB 😋! I cook kale greens most of the time, but those bring back memories, especially with that smoked ham hock 😋!
Hey friend....glad to see you left California come see us in Florida!!! Luv U.
OMG..cooking at its best...all my favorite foods thanks for the tips
More ham hocks.

I meant to ask you, have you ever added kale to your mixed greens?
Looks delicious
What seasoning did you use? Was it the creole kick? When you put it up to the camera, we couldn't see it.
Yum, Yum, I can taste that goodness all the way here in Charleston, SC!
What was the seasoning used? We couldn’t see It from the top view.
