1990. 15 years old. Not a great life. Asking myself what is the point. Listening to songs like this in a darkened room. Somehow I kept going. Life a lot better after high school. Thanks Death Angel and all the other bands of my youth.
Guess I was the old guy at the bar, I was 25 and in the pit for everyone of those you mentioned in '90 and never leave Testament out of the discussion they still are one of the preeminent thrash bands ever. Damn I drank a shit load of beer, smoked weed, and lots of acid and I'm still here. Good times had by all.
+Scott Fish truth. So glad to have grown up in the Bay Area in the 80s, early 90s, so I got to be exposed to them early on.... and so glad to see them back and still awesome. Caught them taking a break from opening for Anthrax/Exodus in Columbus a few years back and they put on one hell of a show. Literally ended up having to do multiple chiropractic visits after from neck damage from the pit, lol.
My God, dude...that guitar solo has lived in my bones since I was 15 years old....this is an all time favorite. Been on every playlist I've ever made. ❤
Why am I just now discovering this band!?!?! My God... such a beautiful sound. "Yet little do they know the boundaries of his wisdom. In the solitude of his kingdom." One of the most powerful lyrics I've EVER heard.
I'm from another time class of 1990 i was 18 , I've been singing this song for 30 years and it still gives me chills singing it through ... fan for life.
Still can't believe I waited this long to listen to this song again. Probably because I've even played it on acoustic so much that I know the song inside/out.
This was next level in 1990…for a thrash band…they were on there way..then the fucking bus accident…derailed their fate…the original lineup anyway..this shit was way ahead of it’s time!!
These guys are literally family. Gus Pepa (rhythm guitar) and Dennis Pepa (bass) are brothers, and Rob Cavestany (lead guitar), Andy Galeon (drums), and Mark Osegueda (vocals) are their cousins.
Sitting at the window staring down Listen to the people shuffle around Hear the children laughing Feel the morning breeze Sunlight warms his skin The autumn air is taken in A nearby bird sings its song for him A room with a view You're looking at him He's looking through you A room with a view Who's fooling who There's got to be something that he knew So there he sits and some may wonder About the sly grin on his face Yet little do they know (They don't have a clue) The boundaries of his wisdom In the solitude of his kingdom

Like so many in the comments, I was 16 in 1990. My best friend turned me on to these boys, and he had the same black Ovation. He also turned me on to guitar - he was a helluva player and even back then was ripping this solo - to the point where we formed a band, and then a 2 man acoustical duo in our "old age". He died in 2020, and this song is like a conduit to his soul from mine. Peace.
First time I listened to this song and I learned how to play it on the electric guitar and acoustic parts in about 10 minutes and all I can say is that this song in its simplicity is so beautiful that it wrecks me to my core...I might have the ability to copy a song by ear but I highly doubt that I would ever have the ability to create a song like this ... it is so powerfully emotional to the core...all I can do is show RESPECT
These guys were all between 17 and 22 years old when they recorded this. That still blows my mind. I get that they recorded The Ultra Violence 3+ years earlier, and that's amazing for obvious reasons, but this song sounds like something that a person would need 40+ years of life experience just to even think of writing, let alone to pull it off. Whatever Death Angel achieves in their career, they'll never get as much credit as they deserve.
Act III is one of my favorite albums of all time. I remember buying it on cassette tape while I was on summer holidays. I just couldn't stop listening to it...
This is the first time that I have ever heard Death Angel, which is classified as a Thrash Metal Band from California that got started in 1982. I have to say that they are musically talented. You can hear them play and sing harmonies in that rock ballad. And Rob Cavestany playing Classical Spanish Acoustic guitar or it really seemed like he was playing with sheer talent there, beautiful! Ted Aguilar with the Rhythm guitar and both doing back up vocals. Damien Sisson on the Bass guitar and Mark Osegueda with Lead Vocals. Great Singing voice! Mahtava! And Will Carroll on the Drums. This ballad was great but I wouldn't know they were a Thrash band unless I hear another one of their songs. They are really talented, so thumbs up on Death Angel! You Rock!! 🤘🏻🖤🎸🖤😈
This was before ted, will and damien entered the picture. Andy galeon (original drummer) and dennis pepa (original bassist) are doing backing vocals here. And gus pepa was still on rhythm guitar at this time
I gre up in the 80s and 90s loved megadeth, Metallica, pantera, and metal and somehow missed out on death angel, I just discovered them last year and wow so underated.
Love these guys. I was a fan from the beginning. I remember I was about 14 years old when this album came out. I discovered them in the tape trading scene in the 80's. I was and still am a metal head for life!!!! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I had to say that this song was very well produced and the musicianship was superb props to these guys For the taller story that was simple and complex at the same time that in itself is it amazing accomplishment
I strongly believe this is the best Thrash band of all time. I spent so much time with my head buried in Megadeth. I overlooked this band for a long time. They are my favorite now.
Dude totally When I was a kid Metallica came out but I heard Megadeth and it just resonated more with me .missed out on so much. But today over the last couple years has been my reawakening for metal . Finding bands I overlooked when young like Death Angel and Testament and finding newer bands like Trivium too
king diamond I totally agree. Their earlier stuff sounds so raw & unique that you can tell it's was Death Angel. Same with Anthrax, Testament and others. Nowadays it sounds all the same to me which is why it's hard for me to follow most of these bands. Just miss the sound of the mid 80's/90's.

I always thought this song was about a ghost then came to realize its about a blind man and then it all hit home. This album is one of my top three albums of all time - it easily goes toe-to-toe with Metallica Master of Puppets any time.
Music & lyrics with true foundations & heart❣ Something most new bands unfortunately lack! Wish more could realize this & fight to make music for the love & not just money & fame. Screw being like Metallica! Look how that went! Death Angel tis true aspirations!
Death Angel are fucking amazing musicians and incredible individuals, they're so true to their fans after so many years in the business. Death Angel for life.
Saw them in Tijuana, Mexico at Club Iguanas in 1990 I believe. Myself and some Navy buddies had a blast watching them. Still have a guitar pick somewhere. Great memories. I want to say they were there with Violence and another act that escapes me. Anyone who may have been there, chime in and help the now, old fart, out.

Keep her lite kid
I feel a lot of us have that in common man... real talk
This band saving me now 30 years later. Pandemic, isolation not good for mental health.
After two years , I'm reading your comment. I hope your life is now a lot better than then. Big hugs.

Easily one of the best rock ballads ever.
Death Angel is a great band, the album Act III is incredible. Great music, love the solos.
Was underrated!!!! they are still making music and still underrated. The newer stuff is so amazing...

what does it mean?
I'm in love with that acoustic solo

They're still Filipino to this day. Amazing.
That solo at the end was sick! Wished it was a bit longer. This song is so beautiful.
Go buy the album, the end solo is a bit longer

Hear the children laughing
Feel the morning breeze
Sunlight warms his skin
The autumn air is taken in
A nearby bird sings its song for him
A room with a view
You're looking at him
He's looking through you
A room with a view
Who's fooling who
There's got to be something that he knew
So there he sits and some may wonder
About the sly grin on his face
Yet little do they know
(They don't have a clue)
The boundaries of his wisdom
In the solitude of his kingdom
you're a very awesome person.

It's so weird how the song just fades out right in the middle of a really good solo. I want to hear the rest of the solo.
